April 4, 2026I don't know the proper way to consume or review poetry, but I'm glad I picked this one up. I felt bad for Bhabha that she went through such a horrendous heartbreak, but she was able to recover from it. Her poems about her family were so heartwarming; I'm glad she had a family that was so supportive of her artistic ambitions.

165 pages and at least 52 of them have to been dog eared to re-visit later…
Picked up the book because Evan Stern pulling out random poems during a recent podcast episode had me very curious, am now leaving wishing I could go to Nadine for advice on everything…I’m a sucker for a little book of poems

So amazing! I picked this up off of a recommendation from a podcast (Spare Parts) and so many of the poems resonated with me. Nadine’s words are so real and I wish we were friends

look, you know why I’m here & why I picked this up, lol. Idk the first thing about poetry, but I do know that I was highlighting this like my goddamn life depended on it. this felt like a love letter to all the artists, dreamers, and lovers from your millennial big sis. it offers some beautiful perspectives on life & is a poignant reminder that we’re all just trying to make it through. i would follow Nadine into battle.

The word that comes to mind to describe this book is delightful. I found Nadine through her work on Heated Rivalry and YAGA, and was thrilled to learn she got her start in writing through poetry. Even almost ten years later, her straightforward approach creates pieces that echo. The section on “the grind” and the series of vignettes about Toronto are particularly powerful; I haven’t been to Toronto in years and now I’m itching to revisit!
