Crown Creek #3

Soft Wild Ache

Rate this book
Beau King is the most beautiful sin I’ve ever seen.

I grew up knowing one thing: the outside world is wrong.
Books? Sinful. Nonbelievers? Destined for hellfire.
And rock music? Pure evil.
Beau is everything my mother warned me about.
Hazel green eyes. Tempting voice. And that ripped body? Heaven help me.

I want his mouth on mine and his hands in forbidden places.
I want to confess the soft wild ache in my heart to him.
But even though I’ve left the cult behind, I still can’t escape.
I’ve cast off its chains, but I’m not free.
If I let myself fall from grace and into Beau’s arms, can I ever be forgiven?

Vivian Lux is a penname for author Theresa Leigh

Theresa Leigh is a romance author whose love of reading is so intense, she sometimes injures herself by walking around with her nose in a book. She loves writing stories that have you feeling every emotion... sometimes all on the same page.

After five years of writing romance under a penname, Theresa finally decided to own up to how she was spending her all time. Her mother now knows all about the kinds of books she writes. She reacted more positively to it than Theresa expected.

Theresa lives and writes in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State (not the city) (that distinction is important to her), where she lives with her husband, twin sons and twin orange cats, Pumpkin and Jackie O’Lantern. When she's not writing or reading, she enjoys eating too much Thai food, walking around barefoot, and cooing baby talk at her cats.

Rachel led an extremely sheltered life at the religious compound where she was raised but has slowly become integrated into the “secular" world with the help of her friend and new roommate, Everly. When Everly travels abroad with her boyfriend, Gabe King, Gabe's brother, Beau, takes it on himself to watch out for Rachel. To say Rachel is naïve is an understatement, and the first big lesson we see the secular world teach her is that there's much more to Long Island Iced Tea than iced tea. It’s no hardship for Beau to keep an eye on Rachel, but he knows he needs to rein in his attraction to her and take things slowly.

Vivian Lux is a “stop everything and read now" author for me, so I was on pins and needles waiting to get an early copy of this book. I had read the other books in this series and was eagerly awaiting Beau and Rachel's story, and while I knew it would be great, it exceeded my expectations. This author's style and storylines are so flawlessly done that the books practically read themselves. I suspected Rachel's character would be somewhat of a challenge, but after reading this book, I’m even more in awe of Ms. Lux's talent.

Rachel wasn’t just sheltered. Everything about her upbringing and the compound where she was raised screams “cult," and I can’t imagine how the author was able to do adequate research and gain knowledge enough to do Rachel's character justice. It was so insightful and precisely crafted that Rachel was incredibly authentic and realistic to the point it felt like I was a part of her experiences. And there couldn’t have been a more perfect hero for her than Beau. He was careful, kind, tender and patient with Rachel, while still being supportive and encouraging her growth. Together, they were amazing – neither one perfect, but perfect for each other. And their reunion in Time Square? Amazing. Beautiful. Epic. Fated. Classic. Perfect. Their love story had a little bit of angst, a little bit of humor, and a huge heap of emotion that took me on a terrific reading journey and left my heart happy, but still holding on tight to these characters. I recommend this book, with complete confidence, and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Loved Beau & Rachel!!! Such a sweet love story! I love how both the H&h bring out the best in each other and their true selves! Beau is sweet and swoon worthy! Rachel is a strong heroine who you can't help but love. I really enjoyed her journey from "chosen" life to secular life! You of course get to catch up with your other favorite King family members.

OH.EM.GEE! I so loved Beau and Rachel.

I just knew that this book was going to be special. You have Beau, the quiet one and twin to Finn, and you have Rachel, Everly's friend, roommate and formal "Chosen" family member. Beau meets Rachel thru Gabe and Everly and is instantly smitten with her. Rachel is equally as smitten with Beau but from her teachings growing up, she knows the sin of the flesh is bad. Everything outside of the compound is bad. Rachel was forced to leave the compound 2 years prior do to no fault of her own and Beau is very eager to find out why but doesn't want to get all nosy and push her away.

This book has all the feels. Goodness, I teared up a time or two. And, to learn about the way Rachel grew up and how they treat people on the compound was just heart breaking. Everything was so strict and eyes were everywhere, so god forbid if you ever crossed a line.

It was great to see all of the brothers get back together and include Claire in their music.

You will love this book. You don't have to read the other books in the series but it sure does help to place all of the characters. Now, I can't wait for Finn's book, because, yeah, where did he disappear to?

Carla's Five Star Review

This is the third book in the Kings of Crown Creek series, and it is Beau and Rachel's story. While I would suggest reading the other books in this series prior to this one, it can be read as a stand alone.

After spending the majority of her life in an oppressive, cult like environment, Rachel is just learning what the outside world is like. What she needs most is patience, love, and acceptance, and that is exactly what she finds in Beau. Oh, Beau! How I loved him! He had a heart of gold, and it didn't hurt that he turned into a dirty talking alpha male in the bedroom! And Rachel? That girl possessed a strength unlike no other!

I cannot express just how much I loved this book! I was drawn into Beau and Rachel's world from the first chapter, and I read the entire book in just one sitting! I just couldn't put it down! I can't wait for Finn's story which is due to be released in May! I have a feeling that he is going to become my favorite King brother!

This book had probably one of the most growth from a character, Rachel she became so confident and started to really really learn who she was. Rachel grew up in a cult that had very religious beliefs and they were secluded from the rest of Crown Creek to keep them from being tempted to sin. Rachel we meet in the last book when she become friends and roommates with Everly, she was new to the modern normal twenty something life, she would always end up hanging out with Beau. Beau the sweetest of the King brothers he just fell for Rachel overnight and Oh my heart he was so patient and gentle and understanding for Rachel. I melted for Beau, of course there was issues with Beau and his twin who are always together, Finn , Beau is more like a guardian and feels responsible for Finn. So when one scene happened I was so mad and upset for these Brothers. I love how this ended it was meant to be and Rachel really took a huge risk and it definitely paid off. The chemistry and story made this a page turner , so ready to find all about Finn.

Could I love Beau anymore than I do right now? I doubt it!
What a break my heart just to put it back together story!
Phew!
Digging into Soft Wild Ache's emotional cluster of the unknowns was a spine-tingling heart bursting at the seams intense romance!
Seriously folks! Following along as Beau and Rachel battle the dark times and live to the fullest in the good times - wow- that was an experience!
Already invested in the King family, this story was one that just felt like it needed to be told and boy, Vivian Lux did a stellar job telling us that story!
A one sitting wanted to hug my Kindle when I finished kind of read, these books just keep me wanting more!
Gah! I am on pins and needles for Finn's story!
I highly recommend the Kings Of Crown Creek Books! They're well worth it!

Beau and Rachel came from very different worlds. Beau takes an interest in Rachel, wanting to help guide her in the ways of the secular world. Spending time together they grow very fond of one another, but Rachel is careful because she's always been told that those outside of the compound are evil. However she didn't fear Beau. As they grow closer she starts to feel as though she finally belongs some place. As Beau gets her to loosen up things become even more complicated when she runs into her sister. Once her secret comes out she fears Beau would never want her so she runs. He's crushed but plans are made that can not be changed so he goes to NY. When Rachel takes off to find him in her grand romantic gesture my heart melts. Now if we can only find Finn. All the feels
With this story! !

Rachel has had a very sheltered life and the way she grew up they weren't allowed to have normal things. When she forced out and her life changes she works at the college and meets Everly and they become friends than she meets Beau and everything starts to change a lot for her. Beau is big and strong and trying to help his brother Finn. He has feelings for Rachel but only wants to be her friend till that changes and she starts to come out of shell. Till something from her past threats them and than she disappears. Will he be able to find her before its too late? Will Rachel be able to find the strength she needs to flee before its too late? This book has some many emotions and you can't stop reading cause you want to see what happens next. A few twists that will keep you wanting more. Can't wait to read the next book

Meet the Kings. They’ll warm your heart...then get it racing.

I believed him. I believed in him. It had been so long since I had something that me feel like I belonged. I wanted to belong to Beau. I wanted to be his and let him care for me. I wanted to fall back and know that he’d be there to catch me. I wanted to trust in him. Could I trust in him?

I honestly chose to read this book because Rachel is from a cult and I have a weird fascination with them. But this story is SO MUCH MORE then just being cult related. Beau is seriously the sweetest and most caring guy in all of the books I’ve ever read. From the beginning he watched out and took care of Rachel. I loved seeing Rachel come out of her shell and break away from her crazy family. Also, I definitely be reading more books by Theresa Leigh.

My heart is full after reading this. I couldn't imagine being Rachel. She showed such courage and self preservation that she blew me away. Even when she had doubts she still wanted more out of her life. I loved that she took a chance and went against everything she was taught to believe in. She learned to have friends, have a job, be appreciated and fall in love. It was really awesome to watch her grow.

What can I say about Beau?? He was such an amazing man throughout all of this. In some ways he was too perfect. The way he knew when to push and when to pull back. Her thoughts and feelings were always at the forefront of his thoughts. I loved how much he believed in Rachel from the very beginning and wanted everything with her and was willing to do it at her pace.

I thought this was a good read. The writing flowed well, and I thought the characters were developed nicely. Beau and Rachel were linked together in the last book, and I was afraid that I wasn't going to like her. The character improved in this book though. Beau and Rachel were good together, and they had great chemistry. My only complaint was that both her and Beau needed to realize that you can't live your life for anyone but yourself. Beau really needed to learn the phrase "I'm not my brother's keeper". I know you worry about family, but you can't make someone be happy. That's something they have to do themselves. It was a perfect ending for these characters, and I liked the HEA.

Book three of the Kings of Crown Creek series. Told in dual POV with HEA. Each book in the series is about a different King brother. Beau King is the quiet caretaker of the family having always been tasked with watching out for his twin brother. Rachel was raised in a cult without contact from the outside world until they “sent her out” when she was 20. She has been getting by for the last two years when she meets Beau. Their relationship is sweet and special and starts out with Beau “taking care” of Rachel. He is very protective of her and their friendship naturally progresses to more. Their road is not an easy one, but Beau is patient and persistent. I loved this story and could not put it down until I had finished it way too late in the night

I really loved this sweet, passionate romance. This wonderfully written story sucks you in and you find your heart completely captured. Rachel has had a very sheltered and secluded upbringing. Now, she's out in the secular world, experiencing new things, making friends, and being tempted by rock star Beau King. Beau has been drawn to Rachel from their first meeting and when he is asked to keep an eye on her while his brother and her bestfriend are away, he finds it harder and harder to resist giving in to his feelings. Beautiful, sweet, emotional, steamy, and heartwarming. An excellent read and amazing love story. This is my completely honest, voluntary review after reading this book.

Rachel grew up in a highly religious community and is finding her way in this secular world she is very unfamiliar with. She is innocent yet she is open to new experiences. Beau grew up as a rock star with his brothers. He is drawn to Rachel as she is to him. Their story is sweet with some ups and downs. I love Rachel's journey of self discovery. A satisfying read. I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third book in this awesome series, and is Beau and Rachel’s story. Rachel has had a very sheltered life, and with the help of her friend Everly, she is beginning to experience real life. Beau is instantly attracted to Rachel, but knows he has to take things slowly. This is an emotional, heart-wrenching, steamy read, which is a beautiful story, and had me intrigued and hooked throughout. I look forward to reading more of this authors’ work and highly recommend for all readers.

Rachel is learning how to live among regular society and Beaycan’t keep his eyes off her, even when he’s just a friend. Now he is making it his job to help teach her while falling for her. Beautiful story of learning to live and love. Beau is a caretaker through and through. Rachel tries so hard. I love seeing her come into her own.

Rachel lived a sheltered life. Beau was a member of a band. They could not have been more different. Could they ever have a future? Reading as they both discover how they feel about each other was a story I really enjoyed reading. Their connection was strong and reading as Beau helped Rachel adjust to life without her seclusion and with him was so enjoyable to read.
