Howard Phillips Lovecraft, of Providence, Rhode Island, was an American author of horror, fantasy and science fiction.

Lovecraft's major inspiration and invention was cosmic horror: life is incomprehensible to human minds and the universe is fundamentally alien. Those who genuinely reason, like his protagonists, gamble with sanity. Lovecraft has developed a cult following for his Cthulhu Mythos, a series of loosely interconnected fictions featuring a pantheon of human-nullifying entities, as well as the Necronomicon, a fictional grimoire of magical rites and forbidden lore. His works were deeply pessimistic and cynical, challenging the values of the Enlightenment, Romanticism and Christianity. Lovecraft's protagonists usually achieve the mirror-opposite of traditional gnosis and mysticism by momentarily glimpsing the horror of ultimate reality.

Although Lovecraft's readership was limited during his life, his reputation has grown over the decades. He is now commonly regarded as one of the most influential horror writers of the 20th Century, exerting widespread and indirect influence, and frequently compared to Edgar Allan Poe.

Sí dan miedo algunas partes, pero la neta la neta salí un poco decepcionado de esta colección de cuentos, el mejor fue uno q ni de terror era jajajaja. El cuento titular no superó el hype, tal vez por mi culpa, habiendo escuchado tanto del increíble terror cósmico de lovecraft justo esperaba eso, y lamentablemente este cuento no lo contiene, pero no estuvo malo. Tuvo un twist al final q casi le da la cuarta estrella, pero no fue suficiente. 0/10 lovecraft era un supremacista blanco.

Lovecraft es el maestro en producir terror a través de la voz de la víctima.

En general es entretenido, aunque debo de admitir que es la recopilación de cuentos de Lovecraft que menos he disfrutado.
"El Horror secreto" es el más largo y mantiene el suspenso en cada uno de las 4 partes en las que se divide.
"Los otros dioses" y "Lo innombrable" me parecieron muy llenos de adornos y adjetivos para enfatizar el terror, pero con poco sustento.
"La búsqueda de Iranon" es un cuento que de no ser porque lo leì en este libro hubiera jurado que no lo escribió Lovecraft, no es de terror, pero esto no demerita en nada el cuento, es entretenido y bastante colorido.
