I love this series, you might realize that because I’m reviewing the 26th book and I’ve enjoyed them all. Here’s just a small sample of why.

Dumb word play
“While you were away, I took on a part-time assistant, May Knott. She’s going to do a few hours each week.”
“She doesn’t sound very reliable.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, she may not show up. Get it? May Knott—may not.”

Breaking the fourth wall
“I don’t believe in wasting time on research, Jill. You know what they say about procrastination, don’t you?”
“Not really, I haven’t got around to finding out yet.”
What? Come on. What’s the point in all this comedy genius if you’re going to dismiss it with a sigh?

Winky the talking cat mentions the author
“Come on, Jill. What’s the point in Adele interweaving all of this clever stuff if you’re too thick to pick it up and run with it?”
“Who’s Adele? Never mind.

Extraordinarily entertaining witty and funny urban fantasy cozy mystery series.

Extraordinarily entertaining funny and witty urban fantasy cozy mystery series. An extraordinary cast of characters and a fun and entertaining storyline. Jill gooder now married and going by Jill Maxwell is a private investigator. She was adopted at an early age and raised by her human parents along with her adopted human sister. Her adoptive father was a private investigator and taught her everything he knew.
She inherited the business after his death and sometime later for the first time meets her biological mother. Who was on her deathbed in the hospital. She passed along something to Jill right before she died. She soon finds out that she is actually a witch. She also soon finds out that she has family Who are also which is an live in the supernatural world. A grandmother her aunt Lucy and two cousins. She now does investigations in both the human world as well as the supernatural world. Sometimes the two cross and she solves crimes from both worlds. Extraordinarily entertaining A bit snarky and witty comments from Jill as she talks to the reader on occasion. You will always be entertained and enjoy it.

The sand pit is gone. Jill's business is in financial trouble. Still, she has to deal with murders and other problems such as a missing daughter. Jack keeps up his annoying behavior, committing Jill to some kind of action (like going some place) without asking her first.

Her Grandmother has another money-making scheme of her own and shows once again that she has absolutely no ethics at all in making money. The Pixie King needs help, there's a Council of Ghosts and there's also Sup Flu.

There's thefts and there's always Winky (unfortunately.)

There is one thing bothering me about the last few novels or so I've read in the series and that is how her Grandmother violates rules all the time and no one ever calls her on them. I'm wondering if this is a case of those who have power can get away with virtually anything they want to.

What would I like to see in the next volume? Her grandmother is arrested and taken away for all the times she has violated the rules, Winky takes off and never comes back, Amber and Pearl finally have a really good idea for their business and Jack calls it quits on the marriage.

Another excellent Jill tale

I can't get enough of these books, the stories are always hard to put down and enjoyable to read.

Jack and Jill are back from their honeymoon and all chaos happens.

The neighbours are down with food poisoning, Candlefield is suffering from sup flu and Jill has cases popping up here and there.

Missing persons, thefts and missing jewellery, cat speed dating, a care home mystery and a haunted house are all piled into Jill's lap during this tale.

The characters are fantastic but best read from the beginning of the series as the story is on going. The cases however are solved in the book and the humour is very much there.

I really enjoy this series and can't wait for the next instalment.

Love these

These books are pretty short and quick to read but I love them. Jill is snarky but has a big heart and always helps others. These books always make me laugh and always make me wish the next was out when I finish one. Thank goodness they seem to be published fairly quickly!

May the 4th be with you.

Back from their honeymoon and Jill and Jack start out with carrying furniture instead of the bride over the threshold. Haunted houses, thefts in a hotel, missing person and death in a nursing home. Once again Jill has her work cuf out for her.

I love these books but this one just didn't have any umph for me. I like the books in this series that have more mystery and surprise. The humor of these books is so good but hoping for some more serious confrontations for Jill Gooder/Maxwell.

As always, it is such a delight to read this story!
Jill has come so far and has really matured into who she is.
I love the humor and the bantering that is Jill and her loved ones (yes, including winky).
Looking forward to the next installment!

Jill rocks!

So many mysteries, big and small, and Jill solves them all. I really enjoy this series. Jill is so approachable and I love her sense of humor. Even though the mysteries seem so unsolvable, Jill always manages to put the pieces together to solve them.

Adult Fairytale

Clever play on names. Witches, Wizards, Vampires Bixìes, Humans all come together to create a satire mystery comedy. Lot's of corny characters to help you step out of the adult world for a moment.

Premature death

This book started out recapping and then took off running. The ghostly world is one to be reckoned with. And Jill is in the driver's seat.
