This was one tension filled story!

Ellie and Jack have been married for nine years and life is good. Even with Jack having to travel for his job they are in a great place. So when Ellie suddenly begins to get strange text messages from an anonymous number, she does what anyone would do. Blocks the number and carries on with her perfect life.

However, seeing as this is a romantic suspense, things don’t stay perfect and that number doesn’t stay blocked.

I loved the relationship Ellie and Jack had. They were so deeply in love and it was like reading an extended epilogue of your favorite book couple. Until Anonymous begins to make their presence further known in new and disturbing ways. Then the happy epilogue feeling ends and you realize you’re in a whole new world and you don’t know where the threat is coming from or when it’s going to hit again.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat throughout its entirety. From the first page I was so engrossed I read it straight through without pausing. Although it never gets into “boiled bunny” crazy, it’s enough for you to know that whoever is behind the texts are unstable. This is definitely the book you want to read if you like suspense with your romance and a dash of thriller thrown in.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
I really don't have a lot to say about this book. It was a quick and enjoyable thriller. The writing was great. It was fast paced. It was told in dual POVs (the majority being from Ellie). The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. That said, I pretty much figured out who the baddie was very early on. Last, it was all wrapped up in a sweet epilogue.

~HERO~
JAKE...Jake was a great hero. A sweet husband. He was devoted. He was hot. He loved Ellie.

~HEROINE~
Ellie...Ellie was also a great character. Maybe a little annoying with the whole "keeping the texts a secret" thing. But she was a sweet person. Loved Jake. She was a great friend. I don't really have much to say about either character as the book starts with them already happily married for several years.

description

~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
This book is fairly light on secondary characters. There are a couple that play significant roles and I enjoyed them both. I'd love to see Vicky get her own book as well as someone else who I won't name as to avoid any spoilers (lol).

~HEAT LEVEL~
Low to medium. There were some suitably spicey scenes in this one and the frequency felt organic to the story.

~ANGST LEVEL - SEXUAL HISTORIES~
High...mystery wise. Low...relationship wise. Of course, we have someone stalking this couple and so the things that happen to them creates a lot of angst along with the mystery of who is doing it. As I mentioned above, this couple is already married (for several years), so there is zero relationship angst. Neither were virgins (obviously *lol*). There was no OW drama. There was a bit of OM drama.
¨

~IN THE END~
I enjoyed it a lot. The writing was great. The plot held my attention. The characters were interesting and likable. I was a tiny bit bummed that I figured out the twist early on. Personally, I thought it was a bit on the obvious side, but that is just me. I am also kind of curious if this couple has a previous book with the beginning of their relationship? I'll have to poke around because I'd love to read it if they do. All in all, it was a great read so yours truly is going to give it two thumbs up.description

ARC BOOK REVIEW
Release Date-23/4/18

"Anonymous" was such an engrossing read.
This was my first L.P. Dover book and I am pleased to say it was a positive experience for me.
I read this in one sitting as once I started reading "Anonymous"I found it impossible to put down.
I found I really enjoyed the established dynamic portrayed between Ellie and Jake.
It was so refreshing to be on a journey with a long-term married couple who are not afraid to express their feelings towards each other.
I would also really love to read their initial backstory if this author were to write it, as these two had such great overall chemistry between them and this made me want to delve deeper into there overall lives.
So this had twists and turns aplenty and had me on the edge of my seat biting my nails throughout.
And all though I did kind of guess where this was going.
I still enjoyed the journey I took to get there.
And guessing the twist really wasn't that great a feat as there was a lack of overall secondary characters.
This really helped to narrow the suspect pool down like a lot and from that, it wasn't that hard to kind of work things out from there.
This is one that I am happy to recommend and despite "Anonymous" being predictable in places it still left quite the impression and certainly packed a punch in regards to its dynamic suspenseful storyline.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of "Anonymous" of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Let me start by saying I wanted to love this book. Creepy text messages, ex-boyfriends who just can't take a hint, who hasn't experienced that?

The thing is this book fell flat for me. The main premise had potential. Some events that lead us to the ending felt lazy and inconsistent with the reality I'm familiar with. The author took a lot of liberties, such as police consulting with the husband of a victim and turning on one of their own even with only minimal circumstantial evidence.

But, perhaps the biggest barrier to my enjoyment of this book is that it didn't read as something that had been thoroughly and professionally proofread. Don't get me wrong, the spelling and grammar were solid. But, tenses shifted sometimes three or four times in a paragraph. The word "convict" was used in place of "charge" or "arrest" more times than I could count which made for a very frustrating read.

Several times it appeared scenes were moved around and never corrected. For example, Ellie tells us about Jakes reaction to a suggestion (this is difficult to do without spoilers) that hadn't been previously suggested, it takes another 3 or 4 chapters for the suggestion to arise.

There were many inconsistencies in the book. For example, in October Ellie and Jake decide they would like to have a baby, they go to a Halloween party and she makes a point of not drinking. Then in early December, Jake is making sure her wine glass never gets empty, mere paragraphs after that Ellie tells us she hopes she's pregnant but she won't be able to take the test for another week. I raged on behalf of the poor baby.

I could have looked past all that, saw the story for the potential and reminded myself that I was reading an ARC which could very well be changed before publication. Like I said, the story had potential, there were a lot of twists and turns, I didn't know who the villain was until the author revealed it and I was surprised.

I had one enormous problem with this book. No amount of mental gymnastics would let me get past it. I ONLY read love stories. This book had a married couple in it, the couple even has sex, but they're married for the duration of the book and their relationship doesn't even grow because of the situation they're in. This was not a romance, it was a mystery/ suspense that featured a couple.

1st try Sept 2020 - couldn't get into it, gave up after 4 chapters.

2nd try Jan 2021 - I liked it but it was just ok, didn't get that feeling where I can't put a book down. I had figured out who it was early on so maybe that was why I struggled to finish it.

I really enjoyed this well written romantic suspense with an established couple. This author did a fantastic job of writing a married couple but still including a good amount of romance. The suspense was really well done and kept me guessing until the end. Highly recommend!

Suspenseful standalone that will keep you on the edge of your seat... unless it doesn’t.
it’s an enjoyable quick read but unfortunately nothing more. It’s predictable and the writing is plain and dull. There’s a great unexpected twist at the end and by that I mean you will figure out who the stalker is 20 pages in but then you will say “no way, that would be too obvious so it has to be anyone but” and then BAM! You were right all along. What a twist dot dot dot

Thanks Netgalley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

I enjoyed this quick read. Story had a few twists that were pretty awesome and it was really well written. I loved how in love Jake and Ellie were.
Oh and the sex...lots of it. Jake and Ellie had their own 50 shades of grey going on 🙊 😂
I do recommend this book for a fun read that promises a few twists. Enjoy!

I could not wait to read this book as everything about it drew me in, from the anonymous texter to the dark and mysterious cover in black, red and white. If there's a trope that I love it is stories with texting. In Anonymous, we have Elizabeth Kingston who is happily married to Jake and has the best friend any girl can have Owen. She also runs her bakery and has the opportunity to expand and franchise out. Life is going great for her, that is until one day she gets a strange text. The way the person talks, it is coming from someone in her past. The conversation starts off friendly but soon goes to creep factor and so Lizzie, blocks the number for 90 days. The day it becomes unblocked, it starts all over again. Someone is stalking Lizzie and wants to make her "HIS." What will happen though when the anonymous person starts to harm and even kill those around her to get to her? Will Lizzie be able to save herself and those she loves or will it be too late as the anonymous person is closer than Lizzie even realizes? I have to admit, I loved this book, and it did keep me guessing till about 3/4 the way through the book and then I had a fair idea who it might have been, and it turned out my guess was correct. If you love romantic suspense and texting and mysteries, then you will love Anonymous by L.P Dover.

Ellie and Jack have been married for nine years and life is fantastic. They are a couple who are seriously in love with one another. And they were ready to start a family together. They were the picture perfect couple. Then suddenly things started going off-kilter-- Ellie starts getting disturbing texts from a mysterious phone number, a phone number she doesn’t recognize so she just up and blocks that phone number and deletes the texts. Ellie thinks everything is now ok but then several months later, the texts start back up and they are more vicious and threatening in nature. By now, she tells Jack about the texts and she lets her husband know she thinks she is being stalked. Who could be doing this to her? OH trust me, you want to read this romantic suspense read in order to find out because I don’t want to give any spoilers away. There is plenty of romance, passion, action , intrigue and suspense to keep things interesting! The characters will definitely keep things interesting as well in this romantic suspense. If you love romantic suspense, mysteries, thrillers and erotic romance then you will definitely love Anonymous by L.P Dover

Anonymous is NOT a dark read. Therefore I had to step back, reprogram my brain, and begin again. After beginning again, the writing in this story held me hostage in its clutches from beginning to end!

Jack and Ellie are married so there’s no first meeting, at least for me. In this romantic suspense, someone is jealous and set out to tamper with Jack and Ellie’s bliss. Don’t you hate when people can’t get over themselves and are purposely petty? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve cussed out Anonymous! He or she could definitely benefit from a good ole southern beat down!

If you’re easily rattled, this story is not for you. Some of the scenes and it’s intensity resulted in me running like Anonymous found me! I swear if Ellie had my Fitbit, I’d win every challenge in creation!

Four stars!

ARC Netgalley for honest review.

I've read a few of L.P. Dover's books and they are fun to read. This book had great characters and a very suspenseful story line. You think you know....but you just can't believe until.....

I love the bakery aspect of the story too. It softens the build up of tension and made me quite hungry for something sweet.

It's a good time.

Totally not what I was expecting. The story felt very flat and boring. I just couldn't seem to care about the Hero or the Heroine or what happened to them. And it was very predictable who the villain was.

3.5 stars!!!

“Every person has a story to tell. Some may be sweet with a happily ever after, but there are others that end in tragedy. Mine has yet to be finished.”

This was a book that drew me in by its cover, dark and mysterious, and that pretty much sums up its contents. Mystery, suspense and intrigue. This book centres around an already married couple, so don’t go into this expecting romance, although our hero and heroine are still very much in love and extremely “active.” For me, this was all about the suspense and while I had guessed early on who the “baddie” was it still made for entertaining reading.

This was an extremely quick read, especially for a mystery, thriller type book. I did feel that this would have benefited from a little more meat in places, but none the less, what was delivered got the job done, however, it did feel a bit choppy at times. This is fast paced, action packed and doesn’t give you a chance to breathe. Stalker books are always a good read and this one was great as the reader tries to determine what are clues and what are red herrings.

Our heroine, Ellie is happily married to Jake and runs her own bakery. This couple are still hopelessly in love and this oozes from every page. Jake was an adorable, loving and protective husband, ex MMA and now an architect and Ellie knew she had hit the jackpot of the husband lottery with him. Ellie starts to get anonymous text messages and the more they continue, the creepier and more worrisome they become. Initially keeping them to herself, it soon becomes clear that she needs help and Jake knows just the person.

“Changing your number won’t get rid of me. I’ll still be able to find you.”

As I said above, I had guessed the culprit early on, but the author did have me questioning myself a few times and she does a great job dropping little curveballs to throw you off the scent. Being a crime documentary and serial buff, I did feel that the author exercised artistic license and felt this did not follow procedures or protocols, but none the less, it did make for some entertaining reading. I read this in a few hours, a great way to get lost for a while.

I have been on a thriller/suspense kick recently and this book appeared to tick the boxes for me
description
This story is about Ellie who is your average woman in an average relationship who want average kids and an overall average life. Then all of a sudden she starts get anonymous text messages. . It appears Ellie has a stalker and she eventually tells her husband about it. Everyone went full panic mode to include trying to place the family into protective custody/leave the country. The husband jake has to fly to another state often for work as a contractor and it caused Ellie to keep the truth from her husband due to trying not to worry him. The book reads fairly quickly since the writing is simple and flows well but I felt I think the story would have resounded better if I would read the author again but this wasn’t doing it for me.

Anonymous was my first book by this author and it will probably be the only one that I read by her. The writing wasn’t awful, it was just flat and very plain. There were no powerful lines to highlight and no exciting and refreshing writing style present.

The cover to this book drew me in, not having read the blurb, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The story line in this book drags and drags and is very excessive. Not to mention, there is no plot and the mystery aspect was predictable and very dull. Whatever plot the author tried achieve, I felt it was poorly executed. At times, it was even off, timeline wise. Lots of inconsistencies. Like scenes in the book had been moved around, but the author forgot to move them back. It wasn’t hard to keep up with, but it was messy.

I think the book could have had a lot of potential had the author took the time and care with the plot alone. Not only the plot, but the editing and proofreading as well. Lots of errors and inconsistencies.

This book is good for a quick read, as I read it in about 3 hours, but other than that it was just another book. I didn’t feel as if it was dark or suspenseful. I really would have enjoyed seeing Jake and Ellie grow, character wise and relationship wise from all of the things that occur in the book but I just didn’t feel like they did.

Ellie and Jack have been married for nine years and are blissfully happy but when Ellie starts getting strange text messages their lives are turned upside down.

A romantic suspense story done really well, even though I guessed the creepy stalker dude early on I was still on the edge of my seat trying to guess what he’d do next.

Ellie and Jack were a cute couple, the author does a good job of conveying just how much they love each other. I always like reading about a couple who have a great family and friends it helps add more background to the story.

If this was a film I’d be watching it behind a cushion probably screaming at the characters to run. The action and suspense continues from start to finish all building to an inevitable confrontation.

I'd actually rate this 3.5 - when, oh when, is Goodreads going to allow 1/2 stars? Ellie has the perfect life, perfect husband, perfect male bestie, pretty much a pretty perfect life. Then things suddenly take a turn when she starts being stalked by someone who wants her, and that someone is a little bit creepy and willing to try to take her husband out of the picture to get at her. There are a few twists and turns along the way, but I was able to figure out the whodunnit and why pretty early on. Not to say that it wasn't a well done storyline...it certainly was. The writing was good, the characters well-developed. I had my mind set on a pretty spine-tingly story, and this just didn't give me a lot of those vibes. But it was very enjoyable nonetheless!!!

As this is my first L.P. Dover story I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Anonymous is a suspenseful story about a couple that is totally in love with each other. Just when things are going great for them someone starts texting Ellie weird messages.

Ellie and Jake are a wonderful couple who have everything going for them. So when Ellie starts getting weird text messages from someone she doesn't know what to do. But when she feels like someone is watching her, she finally tells her husband Jack and her best friend Owen who is a cop. What everyone finds out will blow your mind!

This book had me going from the beginning to the end. I couldn't put it down, I had to know who Anonymous was. This is a must-read book! I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy for my honest review.

From the cover this book could look like a dark romance, but it isn't. This is a romantic suspense story where our heroine Ellie starts getting uneasy because she receives some texts from a number she doesn't know. Hence the title "Anonymous". She doesn't reveal to her husband Jake that she's getting these messages hoping the sender won't bother her anymore, but she's forced to seek help when the assailant doesn't stop contacting her.

I have to be honest. Despite the book is not that long, I wasn't hooked up at first. The first thing was that we have a married couple here and I like when there's suspense but with a blooming love story as well. Moving forward with the story, though, I understand why the author chose to tell the story of a married couple instead of two people who have just met. I liked the book better after the 20% mark, and I read it all in a few hours because I needed to have answers.

The author was great at inserting doubts and suppositions as to who the stalker would be. I admit I realized at some point, and imagined how the main characters would find out, but the climatic moment was reached in ways I didn't expect, so I was glad. I think this book could work well as a movie, it has the right characteristics to intrigue people and make them guess. Plus, there's romance. I like mysteries but I prefer that ultimately, the focus is romance. In this book like I said we have a married couple, so there are plenty of romantic and hot moments between the two.

Speaking of the characters, Ellie and Jake were a solid couple. She had a career she loved and he did as well. Despite sometimes he was away because of work, Ellie never doubted her husband of flimsy things we see in some romances like cheating and whatnot. Same went for Jake, who was a strong male protagonist who would do anything to protect his wife. Personality speaking, sometimes I couldn't digest Ellie. Yes, she was an indipendent woman and yes, she could do what she wanted, but sometimes I felt like she was too naive.

I would recommend this book to romantic suspense lovers but also contemporary romance lovers, because there is both. After all, the book is not long and is a quick and compelling read.

Wow! That's the first word that comes to mind when thinking of how to describe this novel. From the first page of the prologue to the last page of the book, I was hooked on Ellie and Jake's story. This book was such a page turner and I read it within 12 hours. It was just that good and I couldn't even put it down. I love when stories flow so easily and are fast paced and keep me engaged. As I was reading, I could perfectly envision every character and scene as if I were watching it being displayed on a movie screen. The suspense behind the anonymous text messages and trying to figure out who Ellie's stalker was thrilling. By the middle of the book, I had pinpointed who the culprit was, but that did not keep me from wanting to continue the story.

And, let me say this... This book is so steamy, sexy, and might I dare to say, "Hot!" The sexual chemistry between Jake and Ellie is one that every man and his wife should have. OOOO weeee! I loved their chemistry and L.P. Dover did an excellent job in describing the sex scenes between the married couple. Outside of the steamy hot sex, I thoroughly enjoyed the couple's strong devotion and love for one another. Not every married couple is blessed to experience a love so passionate and profound.

I cannot wait to get my hands on another copy of this author's work in the future, because her writing style is simply amazing. The story leaped off of the page and was nail biting intense and that's exactly the type of suspenseful thriller that I enjoy reading. I would most highly recommend this book to anyone searching for an amazing, gripping read that will keep your attention from cover to cover. Bravo! Well done!

ANONYMOUS. This book is so outside the box – and I loved it!

A married woman confronted with a stalker, a person she shares a past with… First things first: No, this story absolutely does not contain cheating. Like at all. And no, of course it’s not her husband stalking her. These two have bonded deeply and truly over their marriage and their interaction and passion for one another just had me swoon sooo much. There are really too few romances about already established couples out there. Sigh. Yes, there’s just something about those initial meetings, that first spark, that zing between two people – it’s exciting and new. Only a real-life relationship only really starts after moving in together and / or marriage, so why not for once show how perfect the “afterlife” can be as well?

On to the stalking portion now. I wouldn’t call this story dark or devious. Suspenseful? Yup. Full of action and little twists? You bet. Because solving a mystery quickly just never happens. It would be boring anyway. And it took me aaages to finally take a hint into the right direction… well, no wonder, because I simply didn’t want it to be true. How this person could do all that out of spite and year-old toxic jealousy was beyond me. He/She wasn’t hiding-under-their-bed-like creepy, just scary, and, well, ultimately, deadly.

I love L.P. Dover’s style. Her books, no matter the genre, always draw me in. The suspense, the shocking details and the raw and hot sex scenes between Jake and Ellie – a perfectly blended mix wrapped in a captivating writing style I couldn’t get enough of. It’s what makes one-clicking her books a no-brainer for me.

This story was predictable but still good. Suspense, mystery, danger combine to make this an entertaining read. Plenty of twists and turns. The romance side was good too. Jake and Ellie were married for a number of years and were just as much in love as if it was in year one. They were sweet together but also the chemistry was heated. good read if your like romantic suspense. Again it was pretty easy to figure out what was going on, but the story still was a page turner.

The premise of this book had so much potential but somewhere along the line the story just didn't live up to the blurb. I still enjoyed the story for what it is worth but it could have been more. I actually thought I was going to read a twisted dark tale of deceit and lies.

So the story begins with Ellie receiving some weird creepy text messages. She blocks the number and hopes that it all goes away. Then the messages start up again and things get weird.

I think this read better as a suspense story featuring a married couple. Ellie held onto too much information. I wanted her to share with her husband what was going on a lot sooner. She never wanted him to worry but sorry if you are getting text messages that are creepy and a weird guy at a Halloween party starts acting out, it is time to enlist your MMA fighter husband.

I was confused by the phone number thing too. She should have changed that number immediately. I would have weened the person out quickly.

I loved her relationship with her husband. The story flowed really quickly. Despite me figuring out who was the culprit very early on, I still enjoyed elements of the story.

This is my first read by the author. I hope to check her other works.
