Haunting, transitory love story
This love story is haunting, beautiful and tragic. Reminiscent of elements in Cloud Atlas or The Time Traveler's Wife, this novella lingers on the tragic, with little chance for romance in the traditional sense to develop. If you are familiar with Linda Mooney's steamy sci-fi/fantasy offerings, be prepared for the gifted Mooney to offer up something that feels a little more ephemeral. Yet, there is such a strong sense of emotional center established almost effortlessly, and that is a talent. There is a very real sense of grasping - and missing - a chance at love again and again. Gova and Muam prove that love can happen quickly, fiercely and everlastingly. Even at the end, my heart was still hurting, and I wanted - no needed - an epilogue after all I'd gone through.
P.S. That cover! I loved it and it was tied to the story down to the most minute detail.
