Ellis Rocca is simply trying to do something nice for his sister when he enlists his older brother and his older brother’s partner to climb a mountain. The proceeds from their expedition are supposed to go toward a lupus foundation. Ellis doesn’t realize how scared he’s going to be, but when he meets the mountaineering guide who’s supposed to take them all the way to the top, everything seems to fall into place for him.
That is until Ellis falls and hurts his shoulder. An unexpected storm makes it so that the two of them are stuck up the mountain and in the tent. Ian is supposed to be helping him with his shoulder but ends helping him with more culminating in the best sex Ellis has ever had.
Later Ian doesn’t seem interested in pursuing him further and Ellis has to face a horrible possibility. Maybe the mountaineer only used him for his own sexual gratification and doesn’t want more than that. Ellis isn’t a one-night stand kind of guy. He really likes Ian. To make matters worse, his shoulder injury seems to be worse than he thought.
Can Ellis finally overcome his fears and anxieties? Will Ian accept Ellis in his life, or is he doomed to a life of solitude? Ian can conquer mountains, but can he conquer Ellis' heart?
Please Note: This book contains adult language & steamy adult activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. Novel, approx. 60,000 words in length. HEA (happy ever after ending). Does not end with a "cliffhanger."
***An adventure, hot sexiness, and a future of hope !*** The mountain man is Ian, with dark blonde hair and scruff, brown eyes, about 30, and he's the Alpine Guide, getting his group ready. Blue-eyed, dark haired, Ellis a few years younger is trim, not bulky like his brother, and they were climbing to raise money for a charity. They are scaling Quien Sabe Glacier on Shahale Mountain, Washington.
Their sister got Lupus at an early age, and was doing well now. Ellis was climbing with his brother, Phil, and girlfriend, Leah, both experienced in this adventure.
Ellis finds the guide interesting, and doesn't mind that he's flirting with him. When notice comes about a storm coming, they need to head back. In that process, Ellis slides, falls, and injures himself. Ian orders Phil and Leah back down, and Ian and Ellis will ride out the storm.
The storm is wreaking havoc and a rescue team can't arrive. The men rely on each other, which leads to lots of kissing and more sexy times. Our men must hike down the next day, despite Ellis and his injury. Ian is strong, helpful, and makes Ellis feel safe. The men have bonded. At the bottom, there is excitement and confusion, so Phil and Leah take Ellis to the hospital, they argue, and Phil internally realizes something. Ellis needs surgery.
We want our men to be together.
This story held my attention, and I stayed up reading, because I couldn't put it down, until my eye lids gave up.
Didn’t do it for me. I definitely struggled to get this one... I know it is fiction but.....
1. Grown men giggling.....don’t think so 2. Very unprofessional of the ian to initiate anything while Ellis is injured in pain and on pain killers 3. Ellis with fractured shoulder....very unlikely to be able to act on the mutual attraction even if he wanted to 4. They are stranded on a mountain in a storm not knowing if they would be rescued with a pretty serious injury and they both still felt like sexy time
I got 50% through when I couldn’t take it anymore: This book takes WAY too lightly the guide’s lack of professionalism in the face of client injury. And initiating sexual relations, even if just a kiss, while the client is heavily medicated???? Reading this just made me angry at the author
This isn’t one of my favorite books that Max Hudson has written nor the best of his writings, but I liked it.
Ellis Rocca is not an outdoorsy type and to think he was out to climb a glacier was quite admirable. Ellis, his older brother and his old brother’s girlfriend/fiancé along with their guide were what make up the group to make the climb. Of course there’s a mutual attraction between Ellis and the very handsome guide, Ian that his older brother never picked up on.
Luckily Ellis was in shape to do the climb, but his clumsiness gets him in trouble when he gets severely injured just before extreme weather conditions were approaching. Ellis couldn’t be moved and he called for medical help that couldn’t make to them because every rescue team was out saving other guides who were in worse situations then Ian’s group.
With the terrible storm approaching the only thing Ian could do was send his brother and girlfriend home seeing they would be able to make it back before the worse of the storm hit them, but they had to leave then. This left Ian and Ellis to have to sit out the storm. But to do that they had to hike back to base camp to do so.
How Ellis ever made it back to base camp without fainting from pain is beyond me, but they do and end up becoming friends and lovers. Of course there’s a lot that you learn about the two individuals that add to the story about them falling for each other that makes for a romantic story.
When the weather passed and Ellis is well enough to hike back down the mountain he and Ian are separated and the things that they talked about like dating each other seemed to be in the distance past. Of course, Ellis’s overbearing big brother wasn’t any help when he interferes with the budding relationship between Ian and Ellis. The jerk is so overbearing that even his girlfriend finds he needs to get his act together which actually put the guy into the worse mood ever.
It’s a nice romantic story that was fun to read with a little bit of antsy but not overly so. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced read copy of this book.
Ellis is terrified. He is not good at heights and now he is climbing a mountain. His brother talked him into it and now he is standing at the base practically shaking. Ian, the guide can't figure out why he is even there. After they reach base camp, they are sent back down the mountain to avoid a storm that is fast approaching. Ellis falls and injures his shoulder badly and he and Ian go back to base camp to wait out the storm. Sex and talking later, Ellis and Ian know they have a spark that needs to be pursued. Ian doesn't show up after Ellis gets to the hospital and regrets, fear, angst and loss settle into Ellis's soul. Hurt much worse than he thought, even in his pain, he has to put up with his brother's overprotectiveness. A book full of drama, angst, fresh air, danger, injury, grief, protective brothers and perhaps love. A good story that keeps the reader interested. I would recommend this book to anyone to read. Ellis--shy, slightly self conscious, doesn't realize just how attrative he is because in past relationships he has always gone head first, over the top , daisies flying, into a relationship...with the wrong guy..EVERY time. Ian---Mountain climbing guy, handsome, sure of himself and recently realized that he was lonely. His job required long hours with no free time to find or have a relationship....until Ellis walked into his life. Things escalated quickly between the two. After early flirtation, Ellis had a bad fall and was severly injured. I loved how, even though it was his job to take care of Ellis, the way in which he took care of Ellis was far more personal. The emotions both men had for each other was strong and happened quickly up on that mountain. I won't tell you anymore of this story. If I did this correctly, piqued your interest, then I hope you will buy the book and find out for yourself what happens. I think a great storyteller is one who can pull their reader into a story so they are able to see and feel what the characters do, to an extent. . I always look for that in any book I read. Nice M/M story showing the growing attraction of Lian a mountaineer guide and Ellis, a completely not outdoorsy person. They click just with a sight, but the weather and an accident bring them together, even though they couldn't due to the climbing company's rules. Long story short, they have the expected, and enjoyed by the readers, happy ending. The story is light and quick to read. Ian and Ellis have a great chemistry and complete each other, but the majority of the characters' backgrounds weren't explored, making them fall a little flat. This doesn't make the story less enjoyable. A good reading to lift your mood, because with Ellis mood it's impossible to be unhappy!

Put up with the odd repetition the entire book. As soon as I got to the part where Phil is freaking out on Ian in the hospital, I'd realized that I had wasted hours of my life reading another ridiculous book. Unless Phil was LITERALLY his brothers keeper, in a very taboo way, I see zero reason for that behavior. I felt the need to make sense of it all before continuing on but couldn't. Older siblings usually do watch out for their siblings, keep the bad boys away. That usually tapers off in adulthood. As it should. I felt like whether it was intended or not, Phil was secretly crushing on his brother and it clearly made him jealous when he heard someone else had gotten it on with his brother like he had always wanted to. To each their own, but if I had known, I personally would not have read this book.
Outstanding . Great storyline, Truly a beautiful story of feelings and emotions . You can laugh at some of the conversation with the characters. It deals with life's hurts ,as well as pier pressures. I loved the way they came to flirt with each other and how the attraction ignited the feelings. I will definitely read it again. Great Writing. ..This was an advanced Reader's Copy. I was so excited to be asked to read this before it went public. I would love to see Ellis and Ian in a continuation of their lives in another book.
Out to climb a mountain for his sister's charity ellis is a little nervous about the climb, he is soon taken under the guides care , Ellis has to also cope with his overbearing arrogant brother, after a storm sets in ellis falls and gets badly hurt sending the others down the mountain to safety,Ellis and Ian pitch up a tent and things get very steamy indeed...things get a little complicated after they get down the mountain ,but love prevailed and they both get there HEA. , "I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review."
Very different plot to a story--in a really good way. Ellis is trying to be brave by climbing a mountain with a guide, his brother, and brother's girlfriend. Their plans are interrupted by a bad storm and then Ellis is injured with now way for them to see how badly. The guide Ian and Ellis stay behind and give in to their attraction. This is an entertaining story that does not take the expected path. Ian and Ellis are interesting characters, as are the rest of the family in the story.
The Mountain Man by Max Hudson. This is Ellis and Ian's story.
Ellis and Ian are attracted to one another. Will they take a chance on love despite all the obstacles against them?
This was not my favorite read by this author but I still enjoyed Ellis and Ian's story. There is just something about Ellis and Ian that you want them to find true happiness and peace.
FYI, contains mature content. This is a M/M gay romance. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I liked this book. Ellis was my favorite character. He was more relatable for me than Ian. The storyline flowed nicely with enough details to get the perspective of each character. The ending seemed a little rushed but overall this was a wonderful book.
There are limits to story telling. Sex with a just broken shoulder is a limit - way too unrealistic. Too bad as the concept is a good and fun one - hot mountain guide and hot hiker.
Absolutely wonderful, could not put it down, so I didn't! I gave a review on Amazon....so you can copy it there. 5 Stars all the way, your going to love this Author and him book! Definitely a must read, so many thanks, Honey Bee 🌬🎭🔥📚😍🥰💙🐝🎶
