“Math Hacks” offers 2-page spreads of 100 mathematical facts and theories, ranging from the rather advanced to the completely abstruse. As the author says: “this book is a tourist’s gazetteer of mathematics [...] Like all good guidebooks, this doubles as a phrasebook, and it present an opinionated, biased, and personal view.” I enjoyed reading through it and refreshing my memories on some subjects, while firing up wikipedia and wolfram mathematics to learn more about others. An enjoyable read for those who have had exposure to advanced math, as well as students.

Decent but some topics are covered too superficially to have any real meaning. I'm not sure the word hack applies here, although it does make for a trendy title.

Cliff Notes for math theorems - I never considered mental mathematic tools to be hacks, but I suppose they are. At least more so than the silly hack boxes in the book.

Rewriting this review to say this book is incredibly refreshing to read over and learn the theories presented within it. I’ve owned this book for a few years now and am getting into it again. Obviously the theories are deep, and a paragraph or so isn’t going to teach you, so you have to Google. However, that’s the beauty of this book. I like to read through it as a break and to open my mind. Thank you for this book!
