I was taken as a slave, but then he claimed me as his own.

After being abducted out of my car on Earth, I was sold as a slave on an alien world.

The man–or alien–set to watch over me is forced to wear a mask which covers his face. It's said that one whiff of my scent would send any man on this planet into a frenzy of lust. I don't quite believe it, at least until my owner–a ruthless and deranged prince–gets a taste of my scent. One look at those wild eyes, and I know he's going to hurt me.

The only thing standing in his way is my masked protector. Even without my scent, I've seen the way he looks at me. If i could convince him to escape with me, then just maybe I'd have a chance. He can be insufferable, dense, and frustrating; but I don’t think he’d hurt me. He says that outside the capital, the world is dying, dangerous, desolate.

Still, I'll take my chances with him, even if it means letting him claim me.

Barbarians Mate is book 2 in a multi-book series. Each book is a complete story with no cliffhangers, no cheating, and plenty of steamy alien romance. These books can be read in

I went in with the best of intentions with this book. I mean, i love aliens and abducted humans from Earth etc. however this book did not do it for me. Elise voice in this story made me want to get the Purple gun and make her disappear. Just abducted and lusting after the alien with the hot bod... her internal ramblings threw me off. Titus is the Teal alien from the dying planet, who is hired to be her bodyguard before she is seen by the actual alien who procured her. When he sees the way the man acts with his servants, and the Eunuch whose balls he wears( yes, i know wears them), he makes up his mind this is not her fate and then a series of events makes a possible outcome.

"Something about the way he touched me seemed almost supernatural, but as his girth fills me, I stop caring how it is possible."

I am not sure if the authors intention was to make the reader laugh at the descriptive sentences she used to make her characters make love, but holy moley that is exactly what i did. I kept thinking that these are the sentences that you see on a how not to write flowery prose about sex.

I mean this is probably some people holy grail, but no i just kept being pulled out of he story and in the end just wanted it to end so ended up speed reading to get through to the end.

Don't take me too seriously...

I wish I could make this a 4 or a 5 stars review but my opinion is subjective and that doesn’t mean another reader might not think this is a 4 or 5-stars story.
Still, it's 2,5 stars for me.

For starters, I have a pet peeve with first person narrating a story especially when it alternates between characters, too. It’s a personal taste (or rather distaste) so that shouldn’t influence anyone.

Another thing that bothered me was the heroine’s inner voice. Elsie does not sound as a psychiatrist. As a college student yes, but not a shrink. Her vocabulary, her memories, her inner voice didn’t quite persuade me but again… this is me.
Finally, the world described sounded and felt very “ancient Rome”-like. Sculptures and a villain named Vesuvius Archinaidus Maxillius?
I don’t know if in other books it’s explained that the aliens have somehow traveled to ancient Rome in the past and influenced things there but it’s ruining the “Alien” element of the story.

That said, there were moments I particularly liked:
- The scent element
- the Elsie-Elspeth dialogue and the hero “not believing in nicknames”.
- the Titanic thoughts.

I wish the writer the best!

Excellent 2nd book in the series!
What an adventure this is! The series just keeps getting better and better. Lots of travel in this one, with many close calls as Titus and Elsie ‘discover’ each other, realigning their loyalties to each other. Elsie has a strong personality, doesn’t let herself become too overwhelmed by the dangers to be able to function. When she discovers there are other humans on the planet (at least one of her friends), she feels a sense of relief. Strong, reliable Titus is now her main focus, though. They have many hurdles to overcome-all frighteningly dangerous! Do read and see how they fare. I am eagerly awaiting the story of what happens to Amber, the last of their trio.

This is book 2 of the Barbarians of the Dying Sun series and it is a fantastic read and I’m also a new reader to Aya Morningstar and this was a great start in getting to know her work. I need to get the 1st book to understand a bit more about the aliens and the women that were taken, but in saying that I did very much enjoy reading this book. It is a lot different than other alien books I’ve read before but that makes it unique in itself. Great characters and I enjoyed the fight scenes and I recommend this book it’s well worth the read.

This is the first book I've read by this author and it was a little different than other alien romances that I have read. It took me a little while to get into the story, but overall I thought it was good. There were some twists and turns and some sexy scenes. I would be interested in checking out more by this author.

Second book in an alien romance. Stolen from earth and given to an insane alien male. The only person she might be able to trust is the alien male who delivered her. I like the whole concept of smell and how it was worked really well into the story. The alien males and females are definitely nothing like any human. But human females know a good thing when they see it.

Elsie meets her own teal alien.

A good second story for the series. Titus is hired to escort Elsie to his boss, but he is intrigued with her from that start. When he sees the leader touching Elsie he makes his plan to take her for himself. I enjoyed reading the adventure of their escape and hope the next book is as good.

Bonded

You would think that Titus was the barbarian, but Elise was. Three human girls got snatched. This is book one of Elise and Titus. They had to run half way around the world 🌎. I recommend this book to adults because of some joicesy parts. But there is honor with their bond. It is a good book.

Death ... dishonor?

Having lived 65 years I must agree with the Earth girls. Although, dying can be honorable, it takes a special kind of honor to live through hard things. Sometimes it's easier to read (and accept) it in fiction than when it's being told as fact. Thank you for Kindle Unlimited.

This is slightly different take on alien abduction romance than I've read before. Smell is huge and earth women are very different looking and making love is different too. Enjoy finding out how that works. (wink, nudge, lol). I quite enjoyed reading this book.

***I decided to review an ARC of this book.***

Loved It

The book was just as great as the first one and holds your attention from beginning to end. It's packed with adventure, the aliens are innocence when dealing with earth women, has humor, and steamy hot romance with awesome characters? A must buy and keep them coming.

It’s an ok read

This is ok read, not an exciting read. The characters was good together, so it was not the characters that was the problem. I just really get into this story.
