Houston knows who he is…but most men don’t seem to understand.

A Dom who likes wearing panties and lace isn’t what most submissives expect when they look at Houston. Broad, strong Doms are supposed to look intimidating in leather, not sexy in leather and lace. When long looks and a curious encounter with his new roommate make Houston think there might be some interest from Reece, he isn’t sure what to do. Reece is straight, isn’t he?

Reece knows who he is…but most men don’t seem to understand.

Reece has known he was bi for a long time, but the Doms he’s met don’t seem to be able to accept that. When his new roommate makes Reece’s submissive side want to roll over and beg for a spanking, he’s not sure what to do. Houston gives orders like a seasoned Dom, but is taking a chance worth the possibility of embarrassing himself and being asked to leave?

When two stubborn men both refuse to acknowledge what’s right in front of them, it might take a push to get them to see the truth.

DNF @ 39%. When I started this book I didn't realise Shaw Montgomery and M.A. Innes were one and the same. This story didn't work for me mostly because I don't click with this author's style of writing; too much internal monologue where both MCs think and want the same thing but doesn't communicate. To me that is only frustrating, not intriguing. Unable to connect with either of the main characters, this book was not for me.

The first book in Shaw Montgomery’s Leashes & Lace series, Houston is the story of a slightly OCD, satin & lace wearing Dom and one very intrigued submissive. Fans of manties, edging, and other wonderful kinks are going to love this one!

The audio version of Houston is performed by Kenneth Obi. One of my favorite narrators, Mr. Obi has these guys down. He uses his wonderful dommy voice for the gruff and sultry Houston and his Reece is adorable, yet still very masculine. It’s easy to see he has a lot of fun with the characters in this novel, and he keeps the story rolling along at a great pace.

Watching Houston and Reece stumble and fumble as they try to figure out if the other is interested is pretty funny, but once they get together? Well I’m not going to spoil it for y’all, but DAMN they’re hot together! Turns out that writing as Shaw Montgomery or M.A. Innes it doesn’t matter, this author writes a smoking hot sex scene. I just wish the story had been longer once they made their connection because they work so well together.

As this is the first in the series we get to meet a number of characters and see their dynamics in action. I’m looking forward to watching them all hook up, especially Eli, because someone has got to tame that boy and I can’t wait to see it happen!

Better than 3.5 but not quite 4 Stars, despite a hot AF story (Doms wearing manties is my jam, yo!) and a great performance from Kenneth Obi. I think I can say with certainty, though, that if Shaw Montgomery (aka M.A. Innes) writes it, I'm gonna read it. I love how they embrace the kink in all their stories.

True rating ... 4 stars (albeit a tentative 4 stars because I'm bummed about something, but this book as a whole deserves NO LESS than 4 stars) :-/! This was TOTALLY going to be a 5-star read ... and I mean, TOTALLY!! BUT, the ending felt very out of the blue, very open ended, and just ... I didn't feel like the ending did the book much justice, to be honest :-/!! This whole book was supposed to be about BDSM and fetishes, and glorious decadent panties :-/ ... but we didn't get MUCH of any of that!

Don't get me wrong, the sex scenes that DID exist were RIDICULOUSLY FUCKING DELICIOUS <3333, but I feel like I was promised much more where these two were concerned and that promise just wasn't delivered! SO much effort and talent went into this book and we were JUST getting started (when it ended); I just don't get why some authors invest EVERYTHING into a book, only to bail out on the glorious ending the MCs so richly deserve :-/! Again, this book was SPLENDID, up until it just ... ended! There were no "I love you-s", the scenes Houston wanted to play out with Reece NEVER happened, and I didn't get why so much emphasis had to be placed on Eli coming over for lunch when the book ended before he even got there o__O!!

It felt like there were many teasers here of what's to come but quite a few of those promises never came to fruition; there was so much emphasis on things we never got to experience or witness with these characters, and I was left baffled and VERY unsatisfied :-/! The book was a wonderful orchestra ... beautiful, sexy, passionate, deliciously kinky, and full of all that GREAT stuff!! The ending? It was a crescendo unrealized and in the end, was anti-climactic and I'm just really disappointed :-/!!

I'm also angry that I feel like I got cheated out of giving this book 5 stars ... because I REALLY wanted to give this book 5 stars :-/!! This book DESERVED those stars ... but that ending ... that ending REALLY DIDN'T :-/!!

These are quick musings I'll have to revise and add to a bit later when I'm actually in front of my computer, so I WILL be adding more! This is it for now though!!

If this were ANY other book, I'd have deducted even more stars, considering how bummed I am about the whole ending [and how it felt like it was totally out of left field; there was so much more to do and SAY before this book ended]!! BUT, this book was SO FABULOUSLY written, and it was SO well done, I didn't feel it was right to penalize the entirety of this book, just because of that; it felt wrong to do so and I didn't think it would be fair! This book deserved all the stars and I just couldn't do it - YES, the ending had that much of an impact on my overall rating - but the whole book BEFORE that ending? Absolutely WONDERFUL!!

I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this book [and as for that ending, you be the judge]!! I WILL say though, in case you're wondering, the ending WAS a good HFN, so don't worry!!

THIS!! THIS is how it’s done (and written) ❤️❤️❤️!!

He lightly brushed over the sensitive muscles, and I moaned, my legs falling even more open. Houston gave a low chuckle and let his finger circle over my opening, but he didn’t try to enter me. With no lube, I should have been grateful, but I was mostly needy and disappointed.

“Not yet, Pet. We need to talk about limits and work some things out before I fuck your sexy body. And that’s what you want, isn’t it? To feel me slide into you and take you—to make you mine?” He wasn’t going to be some weekend Dom who just played around in the bedroom. No, the possession in his voice said he was going to take as much as I was willing to give him.”

“Yes.” The word burst out before the last remaining cautious parts of my brain could step in.

Fuck, who was I trying to kid, I didn’t want careful or just playing once in a while. I wanted everything. I wanted to be bent over the couch, spanked and punished for coming home late and not calling. I wanted to be at his mercy when I worked too long and didn’t set boundaries at work. I wanted rules and pleasure and pain. “I want to be yours, Sir.”

His hand tightened on my still-sensitive shaft, and I arched up into his grip, gasping at the sensation. His response was another low chuckle, but his voice was thick with something deeper than just enjoyment. “I’m going to make you mine then, Pet.

@ 75% ... 😍❤️🔥😍❤️🔥😍❤️🔥😍❤️🔥😍❤️🔥😍❤️🔥😍❤️🔥😍❤️🔥😍❤️🔥😍❤️🔥😍!!

Not a sentence—but at least I hadn’t broken him. Not rushing him, I tried to keep my touch careful and light, not giving him more pleasure than his brain could handle. I also didn’t want to let him come unless that was what he was going to ask for.

Eventually, he found an entire sentence. “I want you to fuck me.”

My cock jerked, and I struggled not to groan. “Is that what you want, or is that what you think that I want, Reece? I know that’s a big step for you. There’s no rush. I can play with you more, and—”

He leaned forward and touched his lips to mine, silencing me. When he pulled back, he smiled softly, finally finding his words. “It’s what I want. I was picturing how your cock would feel sliding into me the first day I moved in here. I have no desire to wait.”

Reece leaned in and kissed me again. That time filled with more heat and need. Easing away, he reached up and wrapped his arms around me, giving me a naughty little grin. “Don’t you want to take my virginity, Master?”

Fuck.

Yeah, I was an asshole caveman, but damn, that was hot. “You don’t play fair, sweet sub. I might have to punish you later for that. After I’ve made that ass mine. That’s what you want, isn’t it? To have your master take you and fuck you? To claim you?”

Reece moaned and nodded, rocking his hips so his plugged ass rubbed against my leg. My needy boy was clearly ready for more. And another punishment, if he wasn’t careful. He’d asked to be fucked, not to come. There was a difference.

Tightening my grip on his cock, I pulled him closer and took his mouth in a heated kiss.

I was going to give my boy a night to remember.

@ 76% ... ADORING THIS SO MUCH 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍!!

As I reached the edge of the bed, I moved one hand to trail my fingers over my erection and finger the edge of the panties. Reece moaned and finally gave in. “Can I touch you, Master?”

The polite words had my cock jerking, and he made a strangled sound that made me smile. “You said you wanted your reward to be feeling my cock slide deep inside you. You never said anything about touching me. Is my pet asking for two rewards?”

Reece looked stricken. He clearly wanted both, but deciding was beyond him. When he finally started to respond, I shook my head before he could speak. “I can’t wait to feel your hands on me, Pet, so we’re going to call that my reward for the night.

No rating for now. Though I enjoyed this, I think I read too many books by this author back to back. Because of this, I was becoming more and more critical of things that didn’t bother me in the first couple books. That really colored how I was feeling while reading.

This is what could best be called an "opposites attract/forced proximity" romance. Houston is the IT guy for a website lingerie company called Leashes and Lace... that is a bit...well ALOT...different than what you would expect when you hear "lingerie". Houston needs a roommate so that he can stop worrying about his rent, his bills, his next meal... well you get the picture. He also has not had a great deal of success in the past...but what the heck...the guy coming to look at the apartment can't be any worse...can he? When they meet, they find that they live really different lives that’s reflected in their ages, their professions, and maybe(?) their sexual preferences.... but somehow, for some reason...they fit together very well. One thing that these two did that Houston had zero, zilch desire to do with his previous roommates...was that they talked. Imagine that? And they found that they could combine their two lives and preferences to produce soooo much more. Houston's bold presences and his instant attraction to Reece is amusing. I simply loved Reece!

Overall book rating: 3.8
Audio Book: N/A

Oh! I'm having more fun than I would have expected with these short little bundles of deliciousness.

It's short, yes, but it has a surprisingly good balance for said short.

I really really liked these two, and how they start to fit together and all those little moments they have! Hmmmm

Oh and one of my many favorite parts? When Houston finally tells Eli how it is! I loved it! Somebody had to have done that a hell of a long time ago!

It's was sooooo Dom! Yummy.

I'm not sure I'm really looking forward to Eli's book. I'm not a "brat" fan. AT ALL. In my humble opinion it's just childish. Full stop. I'll maybe read it for Roman or I might skip it all the same and go on to the next one.

But the dom and his manties.. HAWT! Who knew, right?

Dommie MANTIES!

This was an OK read. The basis for the tension between the bi submissive roommate and the gay grouch panty-wearing Dom was non-communication. This is NOT a trope I like. Throw in an OTT friend who is just as annoying as Scrappy Doo, and you’ve lost the MANTIES handicap the book garnered at the beginning.

After the two roommates get together it’s one long scene. With some added lasagna for good measure.

Overall: underwhelming but with some good moments shinning through the info dumps and set-up for the next book in the series. Not my favorite manties kink read, but passable.

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

description

Love it!
It's sweet, and fun and hot.
Love Reece! He's different from the usual Sub this author write. No sweet, impossibly shy sub. Reece is a functional, grow up adult who happens to be bi and a sub. And Houston, really like him! He has himself figured out too! I liked that, that confidance !
Such an honest story. Beautiful!

Houston e Reece
Proprio carini.

Sexy Dom who loves lingerie!

Houston and Reece are perfect for each other. Even though they had a rough start in the beginning. Room mates who wanted more for each other but who are unsure if the other is interested.

After a few misunderstandings they work out what they want from each other. Hope they make an appearance in book two or get a short novella.

Houston and Reece are new roommates. Neither sure what the other is interested in. Also neither of them are willing to rock the boat too much when they have both found someone they can live with that's not a total weirdo.

It was fun watching them navigating each other. Although meddling friends may have ruined things before they even begun.

Both Houston & Reece are great characters. I really liked them. Reece's friend and boss, Eli, and the rest of the team were fun too. I really look forward to Eli's book!!
It was also great to see some cameo's from other friends..

These men were perfect for each other. Super hot but also sweet & tender together.
"Keep me." Awww. Sigh. I loved everything about this book.

I liked this one. It was kinky and fun but it took a long time to get there.

Besides how long it took for the two to figure out their kinks aligned (and what I felt really crossed the line in the bar with the texting and secret spilling)...the biggest problem was side character Elijah. He was just so....big of a character that he was a bit too much of a scene stealer, though it wasn't always in a good way. Not even sure if I could take him in his own book for long enough to get to the end without having to take a Valium. So basically the review here is more about Eli then Houston and Reese. That says something.

super sweet bdsm story, but I kind of wanted more kink? because apparently I'm a bit of a perv like that...

also would have liked to have had more time with the two as a couple, it ended too quickly after they finally got together. but sweet and easily read. Will get the next one, even if i wasn't really a fan of Eli dramaqueen.

Hi guys,

Recensione a cura di Marika Schiavone per All Colours of Romance :)

Bentornati Colours! Vi piacciono i Contemporary Romance LGBTQ dalle sfumature BDSM?

Merda. Mi piacevano i ragazzi bassi e robusti.

Promising start, long middle part with a lot of inner dialogue and no communication, which felt like the MC's were teenagers being insecure about their first crush. Fortunately but MC's finaly saw the obvious But when the good part started, the book just ended, I would have liked a little bit more relationship development.
Nice enough read, so 3 stars

I was expecting so much more from this one but it just didn’t do it for me. It was hard to keep up with all the different characters and the leads just took too long to get it on. The secondary characters I wanted to bitch slap one in particular unfortunately he was just very annoying.

There seemed to be too much descriptions and a lot of words that were totally unnecessary.

I won’t continue with the series :(

I’ve read this author before. This is a mm contemporary story that includes a dominant lifestyle and male lingerie. Both main characters were reluctant to reveal themselves so quickly, friends had to step in a push them together. I’ll read more from this author and series.

This didn't really feel like the beginning of a series (is it a companion series maybe?). I didn't really realize how short this story was going to be until they got together. The length didn't really allow for much depth in backstory or characterization imo. I knew more about Houston's desire for lasagna and that Eli was annoying than anything else.

Guess who loved this book

Is anyone suprised? Do I need to go on? It's Shaw Montgomery, if you don't love her by now... I can't help you.

The characters were great. Especially loved seeing the characters from her other books. When you read as many Shaw Montgomery books as I have, callbacks are always fun. But seriously this book was fun. Even when Houston got a little into his own head. Like I understood Reese being cautious about a relationship brewing between them (he doesn't want to live in his car you know) but Houston? I kept shaking my head at him every once in awhile. But thank God for Eli and Andrew am I right.

Oh and the smut? Hmph! My only complaint is that it wasn't a hundred pages longer. He'll the entirety of this book could have been 300 pages more and I would have been a very happy camper. It was that good.

Anyways 5 stars because I have a thing for men in lace and statin now. Thanks, I don't hate it.
