On a mission to find a weapon that would not harm the atmosphere of his planet, could Kelan remain uninvolved when he discovered his gentle, human associate was being abused?

Kelan Rankin owned a company worth billions. His weapons were considered evolutionary. He freely shared them with the entire world. He had been commanded to stay uninvolved with the humans by the leaders of his planet. It was difficult for one so kindhearted. He found them to be like family and he cared deeply for their welfare, especially that of his personal assistant.

Michelle Langtree was shocked to be chosen as personal assistant to Kelan Rankin. Her resume wasn't up to par. She found her duties a challenge she was ready for. Kelan trusted her and that meant everything to her. Her personal life was a shambles. She was shackled to a man who abused her endlessly.

When Kelan discovered Michelle being choked by her abuser, anger took over his body. He transformed into a terrifying creature. Michelle was saved, but at what cost? She now feared the only man she had ever trusted and Kelan's secret was out.

Can a human fall in love with a mythical creature? Will she keep his secret? Can Kelan stand up to his superiors for the sake of a mere human?

Michelle took her time hiding the bruises and marks on her face caused by Jackson. He had just lost his third job for showing up drunk and had taken it out on her. She needed to leave him, but he threatened to kill her and she believed him. So she hid her injuries so that her boss, Kelan Rankin, would hopefully not notice. He had publicly spoken against abuse and would not be pleased at what had been done to her.

Kelan had developed his business, Rankin World Defense, as a means of saving his own planet from nuclear devastation to their atmosphere. Earth survived a similar situation and the technology was able to repair the atmosphere. Now he needed the funding to build the perfect weapon that would protect both Earth and his home world. He could fund it himself, but he felt it was better to share this opportunity with the investors so control would be spread out and peace maintained.

The next day, Michelle did not show up for work. Kelan called several times and finally drove to her home. He heard a scream and found Jackson punching her – she had already been badly beaten. Jackson attacked him when Kelan stopped him from hitting her, and the anger was enough to cause him to shift into his dragon! Would Jackson reveal this information to others? Would they believe him and come after Kelan? This would severely compromise Kelan’s mission and force him to escape back to Talonia!

This was a good book. It’s plot and story line was different than a typical sci-fi. I was impressed that Kelan wasn’t just using Earth for his research but actually intended to share the invaluable technology to keep Earth safe too. Kelan was very kind to his employees and was very well liked. His biggest problem was being afraid to reveal information that Michelle needed for making some very important decisions. His not revealing everything impacted a number of people. Michelle was also interesting in that she tolerated Jackson’s abuse and yet was very brave and strong under other situations. Definitely grab a copy of this book and find out the paths they took and how it turned out. Twists and turns abound in this refreshing look at life beyond Earth!

There were parts that I liked here, and parts that drove me up the wall. So, I'm gonna split the difference and say 3 stars - overall, I liked it.

Kelan is sweet and loyal and very protective, but never crosses into alpha-hole territory. He really does make a great H. Plus, dragon. Duh. Michelle is a fairly strong character, despite the abusive situation she's found herself in. For the most part, I liked her, though she did lose me a bit once they got to Talon (more on that in a moment). While it wasn't insta-love, I would have loved more relationship building between the two of them.

Two big problems with the story:

* Could have used some more background and world building. It feels very contemporary on Earth, but there's been a nuclear war that we've cleaned up? So, how far in the future are we? And what about the aliens and their enemy and all the drama on Talon? All the "weapons development" stuff was weird and vague and could have used a bit more fleshing out.

* This one's really about a later plot point, so Spoiler Ahead. spoiler Michelle is so upset with Kelan that she doesn't try to talk to him for days upon their arrival on Talon. Yes, he kept secrets (some pretty big ones too), but he was trying to protect her, not take advantage of her. And when she finds out she's pregnant, she's debating not telling him and just going back to Earth??? Because humans are so warm and welcoming to things we don't understand, and a half-dragon baby would be welcomed with open arms? How would she even know how to begin raising a child that could spontaneously sprout wings??? Not that I'm saying someone should stay in a bad relationship for the sake of the child, but Michelle wasn't even trying to work out the relationship before considering leaving back for another planet. For someone who'd been fairly sensible so far, she kinda lost me when they reached Talon.

Also, fairly well edited, though there were a few details that bothered me. Besides the rushed pace (could have definitely used more world-building), sometimes it seemed like the author forgot some timeline details herself. Michelle's been beaten up the night before, but she's sending Kelan sultry eyes at breakfast? Did the author forget that both eyes were swollen? Little things like that always bug me.

Alternating 3rd person POV, mostly from the leads' POV but there were a few other characters. Never got confusing though. Minor OW drama, though that's worked out fairly quickly. Not really cheating, but brief love triangle potential with OW. Neither the OW drama nor the love triangle angst ever really became much of a plot point (could just have easily been left out, IMHO). No cliffhanger and HEA, complete with tiny dragon baby.

Would I read more in the series? Maybe. If it was another free Kindle find, then sure.

This was okay. It wasn't bad at all, it just didn't really pull me in. It also would have been nice to have gotten a little more background information about why Kelan was on Earth in the beginning instead of being fed bits and pieces here and there.

Kelan has come to Earth in order to use humans and their technology in order to protect his own home planet. Which is far away and so far has not been discovered. Oh, and his people can turn into dragons. So that's cool. I have so many questions about the thought process of his people because too many things don't make much sense. Like why did it have to be done on Earth? Why do they just sit there and let their enemies taunt them? From what I saw, they have super advanced technology. Anyway. In order to obtain his goals he has built this huge weapon defense company on Earth and has been working towards creating destructive weapons that will not harm the atmosphere. Which he can then take back to his own people.

Michelle is Kelan's personal assistant. Like everyone else that works there, she lusts after Kelan but her life is a lot more complicated than most. She lives with an extremely abusive boyfriend and fears for her life should she try to flee. The only place where she feels safe and appreciated is at work because nobody is allowed inside the building without deep background checks and approval. And despite being incredibly under qualified, turns out she's great at the job.

Both of their lives take a turn when Michelle's boyfriend starts to get more violent and Kelan catches him trying to kill Michelle. Consumed with anger, he can't control his dragon and it breaks free. Now Kelan is really in trouble because he can't have any humans knowing of him or his people. Fortunately for him, Michelle also has feelings for him and he knows she can be trusted.

I was a little surprised at how much of this short story actually takes place after these two leave Earth. But that's also when things were a little more interesting as well. Considering how smart Kelan seemed to be in the beginning, we find out that the guy kept A LOT of information from Michelle and even lied about some things. So nobody can blame her for how mad she got at him. Once on Kelan's home planet instead of being treated like the hero he is, Kelan's actions have brought him close to being a traitor. And now these two have to work hard to prove their loyalty and earn acceptance. Eventually, they do get their happy ending though so it was worth it for them.

Michelle is trapped in a horrible relationship. Her boyfriend, Jackson abuses her but the last time she tried to leave him, he caught her and abused her leaving burns. He also told her if she tries again he and his friends will find and kill her. Michelle really wants to get away but she is afraid.
Michelle has a great job working for Kelan the CEO of a weapons company. Kelan makes her feel smart and needed. She wishes she could get his help to escape but she is afraid he will think less of her for staying in an abusive relationship. Things come to a head one night when she works late and Jackson gets mad. He ties her up and beats her up. Michelle is not allowed to go to work the next day so Kelan gets worried about her. He goes to her house and find her getting beaten by Jackson and loses his temper.
Kelan is not your normal CEO but is an alien weredragon. When he gets mad, his dragon gets released. Kelan's dragon attacks Jackson and frees Michelle. After Jackson runs off, Kelan takes Michelle to the hospital. He explains to Michelle that he is on Earth to find the secret of how the humans restored their atmosphere after nuclear was and to come up with a lethal environmentally friendly weapon. After several years on Earth, he is almost finished with his mission. He was supposed to keep his distance and keep the existence of their people a secret. Kelan's feelings for Michelle have made the secrecy impossible. Now he has to decide if he will stay true to his mission or follow his feelings for Michelle. Can he find a way to do both?
This is a great book but has abusive scenes in the beginning. I loved the way both characters were realistic with struggles to deal with. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Michelle and Kellan

Kellen is an alien that can take human form. He was sent to earth to get the blueprint for a way to stop nuclear fallout on his planet. Humans about destroyed their planet with nuclear bombs until the way to fix the planet was invented.
The Talonians have an enemy that uses nuclear weapons who is about to attack. The Talonians don't want their atmosphere or planet to be damaged from it. On earth, Kellen runs a weapons company that invents new planet safe weapons.
Michelle is his assistant. She is in an abusive relationship and is afraid to ask for help because she doesn't want to be looked at as being weak. When Kellen discovers that she is being abused and was almost killed, he saved her. He also revealed that he was an alien from another planet when he transformed.
They had feelings for each other but never acted on them until now. Her ex was involved with a gang who is now after her to pay them the money owed by him.
The relationship between them grows and he asks her to go back with him to his planet in order to save her life. On the planet things don't go well because the Talonians don't want outsiders there.
I like the story but wanted to know more about this enemy. Hopefully more will be told in future books.

I liked reading about two different planets and how their lifestyles compare. Kelan’s and Michelle’s story was a rough one, but once they allowed themselves to love then their story was sweeter. After reading both Kelan and Tae’s stories I am interested in how Earth comes back into play during the rest of the series. There will definitely be some action coming too! If you love sci-fi alien romance stories then I recommend this book to you. Better yet the ‘aliens’ are dragons! This can be read as a standalone or as a start of a new series.

Kelan is the first book in the Talonian Warriors series.

Kelan is an alien who has secretly been taken to earth to build machinery to save his planet from the nuclear explosion that devastated his planet Talonia, Kelan ends up being a billionaire and uses the technology to help earth as well. Michelle Langtree is Kelan’s human assistant and she has a boyfriend named Jackson who is always beating her, when Michelle gets beaten she hides the bruises from Kelan because he is against women getting beaten and abused. One day when Michelle doesn’t turn up for work Kelan tries to call her but there is no answer so he goes to her apartment and he hears her screaming, Kelan rushes in and finds Michelle bloodey and being beaten up by Jackson. Kelan is so full of rage he starts to transform into a dragon. Sorry guys that’s all I’m giving you so if you want to know what happens next then you will need to get this book. This was such a fantastic read I loved everything about this story, Celeste Raye has done it again and she has such a great imagination and it shows in her stories. Kelan is sent her from another planet to find a weapon to protect his homeland from destruction. It can also help Earth. He is a kind person who wants to help others. His mission has kept him lonely as he has so many secrets to keep.

When he realizes his assistant is in trouble, he takes a great risk. Michelle is being abused and he puts it all on the line to save her. He falls in love too and that causes him to have to taken an even great risk.

I really liked the characters. I thought Kelan was the kindest male character I have seen in many years in books. He has a strong desire to protect others. His desire to keep Michelle safe leads to a dangerous situation. Michelle is not weak but terrified of her boyfriend and his friends. She suffered so much due to his abuse. She deserves a protector like Kelan.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

This was a very exciting start to the series about the Talonian Warriors. Kelan is a Talonian and he has been living on earth building a business making weapons. He is searching for a weapon that doesn't destroy or harm any planet. It is a defensive weapon and a offense one. Michelle is his personal assistant in Kelan"s business. She is also being abused by her boyfriend. Kelan suspects but so far she has lied because she is ashamed. The day she doesn't come in for work Kelan goes to her house and find her badly beaten and her boyfriend trying to choke her to death. He becomes so angry he jerks Jason off of her and when he is threatened he looses control of his anger and turns into a dragon. Then it really hits the fan. I loved this book and there was a lot of angst from there on.
A fun, exciting and romantic. Loved it

This book started differently to Ms Raye’s previous Alien Warrior tales. Kelan is already on Earth when we first meet him, working on a weapon for both his planet and Earth unknown to the authorities. Michelle, his human assistant is in an abusive relationship that she is hiding from Kelan. When things get out of hand, can Kelan forget about Michelle as he has been ordered, or will they give in to their attraction? I enjoyed this book. There was romance, danger, suspense and threats in the story which capture your attention from the very beginning. I can’t wait to see where Ms Raye will take us, with future stories about Talonia.

Kelan:Talonian Warriors by Celeste Raye 4/5
Celeste you did it again with another fantastic and amazing book. This one took on a journey of self-discovery and love that we never would have thought there was life o n other planets. In this story we find a man/ weredragon try to find a way to save his home world, in the process helps his personal assistant in her time of need and in the fall in love and move away. Then go through some much there that you never know what might happen until the very end. It was so good that I'm so going to recommend it. I happily give it 5 stars. Weredragon's human mate

Kelan was sent to Earth to discover how to protect his home planet. Michelle is Kelan's human personal assistant who helps him with his company but goes home each night to an abusive boyfriend. Kelan is worried when Michelle doesn't make it to work as she is never sick so he goes to her home and finds her being abused by her boyfriend and when he gets mad her transforms into a weredragon. I would highly recommend this book and would hope that other readers would enjoy it as well. Following the tale of these two characters should make fascinating reading for one and all.

LOVE TRANSITIONS ALL PLANES AND PLANETS

I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ADVANCE READER COPY OF THIS BOOK

An alien living on Earth and fitting in as long as he doesn’t transform seems illogical. Once he transforms, he has to leave Earth, but he can’t leave behind the love of his life who is danger of being killed for something she didn’t do. To save her life, Kelan takes Michelle to his home planet without permission. They find prejudice and suspicion. Kelan suffers most until it proved that Michelle is no threat to the people and is accepted by the populace.

This was an epic love story. An alien coming to Earth to help his people and to keep their species alive. Interact only for the survival for his race but he didn't expect love in a beautifully damaged package in hunamn. Their love story is epic. Fight for survival. Fight for love. An epic race across the galaxy. What more can you ask for? Very fine story that will having you floating on the stars.

Although the story is very interesting it was way to rushed. This could have been easily a 2 book series if it would had be slowed down a bit to explain what was happening. Michelle is in a abusive relationship and Kelan who is her employer saves her and suddenly they are in love. Then he swoops her away to his planet where she's not welcome. Again very interesting story but I think the author could have made it so much better

I was a little put off with the wereDragon- Dragon Shifter romance listed as SiFi also. It was well written and a great read. Thinking about all paranormal and Shifter romances Ihave read- there is a little SiFi/fantasy in each one. This story just has a little different twist! Well worth taking the time to read. I will be looking for other books by this author.

I fell in love with Melon from the 1st. I just knew he was going to be the one to bring everything between a human and himself to a good ending. Celeste Tate writes a good story. I highly recommend this book and this author to be either read right away, added to your TBR list or added to your library. More, more, more Ms Raye

Kelan

I loved the story line. Sometimes I also wonder if this isn't already happening. Of course I didn't want the book to end where it did I was happy with the way the author worked the abuse into the story. It only adds to the character.
