It’s been one year since the shifter Aron D’Angelo walked out of Frankie Franklyn’s life. But now he’s back on her island, ready to marry another. She knows, she’s seen the vision. Only not everything is as it seems, and by the end of the night, if everything goes as planned, it just might be Frankie at the altar.
Deanna is a native Californian, transplanted to the slower paced lifestyle of southeastern Louisiana. When she isn't writing, she is often goofing off with her husband in New Orleans, playing with her two shih tzu dogs, making glass beads, or out hocking her wares at various bead shows across the country. A prequel story introducing the Witch Island Brides series. Traci Odom does a masterful narration making sure that each character has their own "voice". This was a cute and funny story that I enjoyed. I received an audio book from Hoopla through my public library.
The Wolf’s New Year Bride by Deanna Chase is A Witch Island Brides Short Story. Frankie Franklyn owns Spell Bound on Witch Island. Frankie just finished decorating a wedding cake when it starts to topple, and she manages to grab it. She needs assistance getting it back in place and it comes in the unexpected form of Aron D’Angelo. Frankie has not seen or heard from him in twelve months since he walked out on her right before their wedding. Aron has now returned and is getting married the next day (that bites). Frankie has seen of a vision of him in the wedding meadow. However, Frankie does not know the whole story. Everything is not as it appears. Will the wedding happen as planned or will something unexpected occur?
The Wolf’s New Year Bride is an entertaining story. The book is set on Witch Island which is a wedding destination for paranormals. The wedding meadow sounds beautiful especially for a Winter Solstice wedding. I thought the book was nicely written, had a steady pace and is entertaining. I liked the variety of characters with my favorite being Heather Jean Mansfield, the ghost who haunts Frankie’s bookshop. The Wolf’s New Year Bride does contain an out of control make out session on the purple couch in Spell Bound (let me just say that you should not be mooned in a bookstore). There are many humorous moments in the book that will have you laughing out loud. The Wolf’s New Year Bride is an amusing short story that will have you begging for more.
This is a cute, short introduction to Witch Island to me. It was a fun book to read. Frankie is who our first story is about. She is a great person to start with. She was in love a year ago with hottie Aron. They had a fling that Frankie thought was going to last. Surprisingly he is there to get married. To someone else.
I was hopping this book would have a happy ending. I laughed out loud at so many parts. Frankie has a lot to deal with and has no clue what is going on around her. I am glad that Aron didn't let things drag out. They both needed this to go well.
I love a good wedding and this one was no disappointment. I am happy with how things ended and look forward to seeing where this series takes me.
What a nice, little romance story! I laughed out loud in a couple places when the main character…well, I can’t really say as I might spoil it. Suffice it to say, I found this story well-written and a great way to pass time when you need a little pick-me-up. The romance was so very sweet and touching, and it was a great complement to the Christmas season. Highly recommend! I was provided the e-book which I reviewed voluntarily.
I love a story that leaves you with that warm, fuzzy, happy feeling inside and this one did just that! With a great cast of characters that are fun to read about and a fantastic story line this is definitely a winner on my list! This is a short story that is the lead in to the Witch Island Bride Series and it drew me in and has me hooked. I can’t wait until the next wedding on the island and I have a front row seat to all of the fun!
"The Wolf's New Year Bride" by Deanna Chase is a short story about what the "Witch Island Brides" series is going to be about. I enjoyed how Frankie's familiar showed up. This was a fun read, and had a lot of the stuff I enjoy in a story. I never expected the ending and was happy with how it turned out. I look forward to the next book in this series by Deanna.
Frankie completed the final touches on the red velvet wedding cake she was decorating. After hours of working on it, her shoulder was aching. Frankie was a seer, and her visions were getting more disturbing lately. Seeing the wedding cake smashed and ruined was one vision she did not want to see come true! Yet a sudden ruckus in the front of the bakery had her tensing – a cat yowled and ran into the room, leaping for the counter where the cake she had just finished sat. She managed to rescue the cake, but a dog chasing after the cat entangled her feet and she started to fall. Twisting and turning, she saved the cake, but now it was sliding and no one from the front of the shop showed up to help! Frankie was stretched out on the floor with one leg bent and her dress raised up when a familiar male voice behind her asked if he could help! It was the last person she wanted to see!
Aron D’Angelo lifted the cake off of Frankie. It had been a year since she had seen him last. Now he was back, and this island was known for weddings. Did that mean he was getting married? He grabbed the dog -- which turned out to be his. He told her the cat belonged to the bride, and his dog was going to be ring bearer. However, since the animals did not get along, the dog would just be a guest like everyone else.
This confirmed Frankie’s suspicion – Aron was marrying someone else. And the “someone else” was gorgeous! The woman arrived in the back of the bakery to admire the cake. She then told Aron to take the cat down near the waterfall to get familiar with the wedding venue. Yep, Aron was getting married – and all that they had meant to each other last year meant nothing. How would Frankie get over this heartache?
I loved this quirky, funny story. The story line is well paced, and the characters are likable and funny! I love how the author portrays how miscommunication can really mess things up! Grab your copy and enjoy!
The Wolf’s New Year Bride by Deanna Chase is a short story in the Home for the Howlidays: A Shifters in Love Romance Collection book. I cannot wait for a longer book with these characters in them. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Frankie and Aaron and I am glad things ended the way they did.
Aaron pops back into Frankie’s life after disappearing on her a year ago without warning. Only it seems he is back to marry someone else. However, all is not what it seems and in an unexpected twist of events that will have you laughing out loud things find a way to come full circle.
Frankie, along with her sister Zinnia and the feisty ghost Heather Jean that helps Frankie out at the used bookstore she owns, make for good quick laugh.
I plan on reading some of the other short stories in the collection. Hopefully, they are as enjoyable as this one was.
Frankie is a seer whose vision of being buried under a red velvet cake is about to come true in her sister’s bakery. Just as she is about to lose control the last person she wants to see walks in. One year ago Frankie’s boyfriend Aron left town without a word. Now he is back and is the groom in the wedding the bakery is preparing for. The spark between the two is definitely still there but Frankie is worried she’s about to get her heart broken again. This short story is a prequel to Deanna Chase’s Witch Island Brides series. If you like funny paranormal romance this quick read might be for you. I recommend this story and the rest of the series.
This little nugget of a story is laugh out loud funny, romantic and so much fun to read. It sets up the town of Witch Island for the series so well. I loved the wit and banter of the characters. Aron, werewolf is the long lost love of Frankie, a witch. He brings his new fiance to be married on the island where he left Frankie high and dry a year ago.I can't wait to get deeper into this series and meet more of the characters that make up this Island. It reminds me of all the hijnx I love in the Nocturn Falls series.
Deanna has another hit series on her horizon. I loved this short story that is the beginning of the series. It does it's job by drawing you in with a fun, romantic, humorous read that will draw you into what happens next on the Island. I absolutely can't wait for next book in this series. The characters are well developed and funny and a unique setting for a blossoming romance. Please read this short story as well as considering any books by this author.
Frankie is a seer which is usually a good thing. A wedding is about to be held on her island and when she visits with the bride, she gets a vision that the groom is her ex, Aron. Aron left the island a year ago breaking her heart. Aron is thrilled to see Frankie and hopes to explain but Frankie can’t shake the vision of him walking down the aisle with someone else. Very cute story and would love to read more about folks on this island!
I have been provided with a copy of The Wolf’s New Year Bride by the author for an impartial review. This is the prequel to the Witch Island Brides series and what a great introduction into this new world. I loved this short story and I was sad to see it end I really wish there had been more. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
An island devoted to paranormal weddings? What could possible go wrong? Pretty much everything at one point or another, but in the end, everything turns out to be perfectly right. Welcome to Witch Island. Great fun as a phony wedding results in the perfect pairing. Wonderful humor with warm characters and some hot steam.
This was the first book in the Witch Island series and it sold me on wanting to read all the books written in this series. Ms. Deanna Chase is so descriptive in her writing that as I read along I can see everything as if I am present. I want to live on witch island or visit. A cool unexpected romance where Chemistry is off the charts and can only be ignored for so long.
This story was a farce, not really a romance. Frankie and Aron were already in love. They just weren't together. It was silly, but not laugh out loud funny, for me. The humor is mostly physical. There isn't much characterization, which is really my favorite part of stories.
I absolutely loved this short story about a Seer finally getting her Wolf Shifter. I really loved that she got her familiar too. It was cute funny and filled with love. I especially loved the Wolf Shifter pack dance scene. I want 12 sweaty wolf shifters to dance for me.
Had I known this series started with 0 and not 1 I would have read this one first. Such a cute story, didn’t see the twist coming for sure, I was ready to hate Velma but it all worked out.
This was a quick but fully cute little story. I love the twists and the romance. Witches, shifters and familiars and a sexy little dance by a wolf pack. What's not to love!
A short novella and introduction to the Witch Island Bride series. It was cute and romantic and I must say I enjoyed listening about the bachelor party. The audiobook is a great listen to knock this book out of any TBR list.
I did this as an audiobook while traveling. It was a great light listen and I feel would have been an awesome light read. It is a little comical with a small amount of intimate scenes with amazing great flare. It was really unique!
Super cute and fun story. Had quite a few laugh out loud moments. Sweet story of love and happy ever afters, with some fun dancing wolves to go with it. I will happily continue this series.
All of Deanna's books come quickly to life. Transporting readers away to magical places where dreams of witches, werewolves and vampires live among us!
