I love how Kevin Smith is so involved in the Degrassi:TNG series.
This book is one I MUST add to my bookshelf, as I am obsessed with Degrassi!
It has a lot of information that any Degrassi fan would be interested in knowing.
Lots of pictures and fun facts as well.
It even goes into detail about the sets and lighting lol.
Although TNG is over, and the 10th season of just "Degrassi" has begun it was still fun to read about the show and characters I've loved for all these years. (:

THE KIDS OF DEGRASSI STREET, DEGRASSI JUNIOR HIGH, DEGRASSI: THE NEXT GENERATION. If you haven't heard of any of these television shows, then you don't know what you're missing! What began in 1979 as a brainstorm of Kit Hood and Linda Schuyler quickly became one of the most innovative, entertaining, and envelope-pushing shows of the eighties and early nineties.

The Degrassi shows can best be described as teen soap operas, although they're so much more than that. These shows, set in Canada and originally based on a group of kids who lived on Degrassi Street in Toronto, Ontario, brought new meaning to the term "teen drama." Thankfully, Degrassi Junior High - The Complete Collection and Degrassi The Next Generation - Season 1 are now on DVD, so if you missed it the first time around you can catch up with all of us who are devoted fans.

Kathryn Ellis has created the premiere reference guide for all things Degrassi with this book. With photos and detailed biographies of all the characters in each of the four shows, set designs, guest stars, and even an episode-by-episode synopsis, no fan wants to be without this book. Ms. Ellis hasn't forgotten the stand-alone supplement movie, School's Out!, either. She also covers makeup, hair, and wardrobe, the music of the shows, the numerous bands of the characters, and the hard-hitting issues that Degrassi took on throughout the years.

This is a book all Degrassi lovers must have for their collection. And if you haven't yet discovered this Canadian gem, I urge you to pick up a few DVDs to get the ball rolling. I promise, you won't be disappointed!

I'm hoping this book is the same as he Official history Degrassi generations by Kathryn Ellis and introduction by Kevin Smith (because that's the one i read)...

It was awesome!

My only problem with it is that i am so obsessed with the original degrassi that i always want to know more! more! more!

More about what the actors are doing now, more about their characters and what they thought about them, more about how the young actors interacted with each other. What the characters are doing now... MORE!

I know that TNG does outline some of what the original characters are doing now but i would love to see a degrassi reunion movie with everyone, even if they have to make the dodgy move of recasting some them.

I also liked how they included a sections for the behind the scenes stuff like lighting, set design etc. Even though i skipped these parts of the book it was fantastic that everyone got acknowledged for their efforts on making such a cult phenomenom.

Degrassi is a book/TV show that has just about everything that teens and young adults are so hype into. Degrassi has so many Romance, and what I mean by it is Boys going around stealing girlfriends and girls stealing boyfriends and make the most embarrassing moments of their lives. So much action and rumors. Both males and females pick fights that they think its right but most likely wrong. Also with the rumors, one dirty secret leads to another and another and another until the whole school knows. This is how romance and fighting starts. Be careful when you go to High School, cause this is real stuff, fights, love, and real hearts breaking. Your heart will be broken in this romantic, action, and heart-breaking Degrassi moments.

I'm not putting a content warning because this is Degrassi ; we all know the wild stuff that Degrassi covers and the book addresses all of it very lightly. I love all the behind the scenes info ; I have seen everything but Kids Of Degrassi Street(sadly it's hard to find). I kept wishing that it would be rewritten to updated today version. I love the first four seasons of TNG BUT so much has happened since then that Id love to see a book about. A great package of noglastia and the pictures are awesome too. I HIGHLY recommend for a fun short read if you're into behind the scenes or making tv shows.

This is a fun book for Degrassi fans that have seen all of the older series. Since this came out in the middle of TNG, there are seasons and characters missing of course so there is limited information but still enjoyable as a fan. I would love to see a part two or an updated version to include the rest of TNG and next class!

While the book obviously doesn't have all the ins and out of 'Degrassi' as a whole, it does give us insight for the first 4 seasons of TNG, and all the previous seasons. Better outlook of 'Degrassi' overall compared to the book 'Whatever It Takes'.

Concept/Ideas: 4.5/5

Interesting. Essential for any Degrassi fan. Nice to see where the actors all ended up after being on the show. Also like how they added in little tidbits about their songs and the lyrics for them, as well as some things about how a daily ritual would go when filming. Also interesting how they put in a section about how to get to the landmarks that the show was shot in, in Toronto. Definitely going to check that out.

When I was an uber Degrassi fan-- from seasons 1-6, some of 7-8--I lived for this book. It has nice facts and photos of the cast and producers. Back story how the show got started and made it's return. It looses a star because this show is now in its 13th year of being on with no end in sight and constant casting changes. While I've outgrown this show (post-Palex), the younger and loyalists deserve an updated verison.
