Marketed as a Louie Giglio/Passion product, Zondervan’s The Jesus Bible claims “sixty-six books. one story. all about one name.” (As printed on the cover page.) I usually find gimmick and niche Bibles forced, unhelpful, and a rehashing of material (sometimes not even relevant to the gimmick) from previously published books. This one is better than many of those in one sense: there is a LOT of material trying to connect passages throughout the Bible to Jesus, and it took me quite a while to read every bit of it (I think I’ve reviewed five other books since I started this one). There are about thirty contributing writers in one fashion or another, but only the major essays note the authors. Those essays aren’t very helpful, but the authors’ names will likely help sales. General additional content is typically from a Reformed and Evangelical perspective, although I did find one contribution in Revelation that does not agree with the rest of the incomplete “faith only” comments through the text and rightly stated, “Believers today can take note: faith and works should go hand in hand. The relationship between faith and works is natural, and neither one should be overemphasized at the expense of the other” (p.1973). All additions in the Old Testament imply a conditional immortality stance on the afterlife, whereas additions in the New Testament hint at what many call the “traditional” view of hell. There are also hints of dispensationalism multiple eschatologies. So, there are inconsistencies that are often found with many contributors. Of course, the biggest problem is that every book in the Bible is not “about” Jesus, as is the central claim of this specialty Bible. Much “points to” Jesus, but little is “about” him. Some of the commentary is spot on, but much is a stretch, forced connection, or outright incorrect. So, overall, it’s better than many of these types of specialty Bibles, but I’d still recommend getting a proper study Bible if one wants commentary and the Bible in one collection.

Aesthetically, I will say that the gray cotton hardcover looks and feels great, and the black and white lettering accent well. However, the cotton dirties quite easily and the cover printing is paint that appears to be easily scratched off and will chip in time. The formatting of content within the text was done well, including side bars and pertinent timeline placement.

The Jesus Bible was created by the Passion Movement to help readers encounter Jesus in every book of the Bible. It features exclusive articles from some of the most trusted leaders in Christianity today: Louie Giglio, Max Lucado, John Piper, Ravi Zacharias and Randy Alcorn.

The grey, fabric hardcover Bible that I reviewed is suitable for gift-giving and filled with features that Bible students of all levels will appreciate. What I liked most about The Jesus Bible is that it’s designed with plenty of room for note-taking, Bible journaling, and illustrating your faith!

One unusual feature in this Bible is that the font size for the study notes and articles are larger than the font of the Bible text itself. While I appreciated being able to read the supplemental material with ease, somehow it seemed wrong to have to pull out my reading glasses to see what the Word of God itself said! If you have trouble reading smaller fonts, you should be aware of this before you invest in this Bible.

Fonts aside, however, it’s hard to find a Study Bible that provides room for note-taking or Bible journaling.

Overall, I felt The Bible was kind of boring. Many of the stories seemed to be reiterations of each other and there were large portions dedicated to names and numbers. However, The Bible was still bearable to read because of the many shorter stories and the lack of overstated deaths. All things considered, from an entertainment standpoint, and not historical or religious, I would rate The Bible 5/10 stars.

The Scriptures point to Jesus Christ. He is the main character, the protagonist; the main theme. This can theme can sometimes be overlooked and it is the intent of this Bible to recall back to the reader the importance of Jesus Christ throughout Scripture.

This is accomplished by two means: feature articles and supplemental articles. The feature articles have been written by some prominent Bible teachers and speakers and are usually three pages in length. They are designed to highlight key passages of Scripture and focus on a particular aspect of Jesus and why He came to earth.

The supplemental articles are written in the margin and highlight key passages as the reader is advancing through the text. This is feature allows for the reading of the text and not be interrupted by a note that breaks apart the Scripture verses.

I found the articles informative and insightful. The feature articles was in depth and accomplished their task of showing who Jesus is. The supplemental articles are a great aid to focus the reader back to Christ.

I did take issue that the supplemental notes were large in type font than the verses of the Bible. I feel that this should be reversed as Scripture is more important than man's comments on Scripture. That said, this Bible has done well to highlight Christ throughout Scripture.

For as long as I can remember I wanted to read the Bible in its entirety. I read many books and selective parts throughout my years, including bible studies etc.
However, reading through this whole Bible has completely changed my life. It took a couple of years to read it all, but it was such an enjoyable/life changing experience. This edition is a wonderful NIV translation with wonderful resources and notes to help you understand. It also has plenty of room in the margins for your own notes. This Bible will forever be a possession I cherish & that I will pass down to my baby girl.

If you are looking for a Bible that will help you see where Jesus is mentioned throughout the Bible, The Jesus Bible is for you.

If you have been to any kind of Christian youth sermon in recent years, chances are good that you have heard of Louie Giglio. He is the main editor of The Jesus Bible and has written the introduction and an article or two.

This imitation leather Bible makes one think, “Wow, that feels good” when they first touch it. You can feel the quality.

There are all sorts of sidebar articles that help one to better understand what they are reading. If you have anyone on your Christmas list who is a new Christian, this Bible will probably help them find the answers they are seeking.

I love reading the Jesus Bible this year. It's basically an NIV Study Bible, but what makes it unique is that all the commentary throughout show how the various passages point to Christ. It also contains several long form essays on various spiritual points from people such as Louie Giglio and Randy Alcorn. I've always believed that all Scripture points to Christ. This Bible shows us how. I also found the Jesus Bible very helpful in my preaching this year, because whether I was preaching from Old Testament or New, the commentary helped me keep Christ first and foremost. This was a great devotional Bible for this year, and I highly recommend it.

“The Jesus Bible: Sixty-six Books. One Story. All About One Name.” The title of this new NIV Bible grabbed my attention right away, and when I saw the descriptions of the study features included inside I knew it would be a special volume. Featured in this Bible are essays by Louie Giglio, Max Lucado, John Piper, Ravi Zacharias, and Randy Alcorn on the overarching narrative of Scripture, plus the sidebars contain numerous articles discussing the revelation of Jesus through each book of the Bible. Introductions to each of the sixty-six books are designed to highlight the ever-present story of Jesus in every page of Scripture, and to help us understand the purpose of each individual author in pointing us towards Him.

Overall, while I am still in the process of really delving in and studying this Bible, I have found it to be a compelling, useful, and profound one. Without question the study material is interesting, and I especially love the introductions to each book as they help me understand the purpose of what I am reading, and how each book ultimately points toward Jesus. As far as the format of this edition, the gray, cloth-enclosed hardcover is extremely durable and appears likely to stay in fine condition for many years of use. In addition, the single-column text on each page, with room for notes in the sidebars, is also quite appealing and easy to read. If you are looking for a new Study Bible that will help you to encounter Jesus through all of Scripture, look no further than “The Jesus Bible” - the name truly says it all.

The Jesus Bible is the NIV (New International Version) translation of the Bible. It is a grey hardcover book that measures 6 ½” by 8 ¼” and comes with a built in black ribbon for marking your page. The book is 2” thick. It contains the sixty-six books of the bible with essays written by Louie Giglio, Max Lucado, Ravi Zacharias, John Piper, and Randy Alcorn. Each chapter has an introduction and sidebar articles. The sidebar commentaries help the reader focus on Jesus. There is room for adding notes and journaling. Some pages have more room for writing than others. The paper is thin, but it is a little thicker than onion skin paper which is traditionally used in bibles. I would not recommend using markers (would bleed through the page) when writing in this book. You can do notes in pencil and colored pencils. The font for the actual bible chapters is very small (the introductions, essays and sidebar articles is slightly bigger). There is a dictionary/concordance at the back of the book. The Jesus Bible is a contemporary looking bible. The Jesus Bible gives the reader an opportunity to get to know Jesus. The reader will be able to do an in-depth study of Jesus, his works, life, death and resurrection. I give The Jesus Bible 4 out of 5 stars. It is nicely put together, and I enjoyed the special essays. If you enjoy doing journaling in your bible, then I would not recommend The Jesus Bible for you. However, if you are wishing to learn more about Jesus, then I would advise you to look no further.

This Bible draws all the books (ot & nt) back to Jesus. While this is cool and kinda makes you think, it gets repetitive real fast. Most of the correlation they make are pretty self explanatory, and surface level. A more traditional study Bible would provide much more understanding and Spiritual meat than this Bible.

I am in love with this bible because it explains so much (the side notes and short stories) i got this bible in pink with gold paper and it looks gorgeous. This bible made me read the bible more easily.
