Based on "Degrassi: The Next Generation"--the highest-rated show on The N network--this graphic novel series fills in the gaps between episodes. These graphic novels weave new adventures, challenges, and life experiences of the students and faculty of Degrassi Community School. Young Adult.

Like the other books in this series, this book focuses on two characters, this time Marco and Ashley. Marco is/was one of my favorite characters so I loved that he got his own story in one of the graphic novels! I really love the author's sense of humor, bringing in the running gag through the books of Ashley's really ugly hat from the season finale of season 5. It was darn ugly!
What I liked about the artwork in this installment was how clean it was. Clean and crisp lines create my favorite types of graphic images in graphic novels!
Overall, I really enjoyed reading the Degrassi: TNG graphic novels, now that it's been a few years since these came out and there is a whole new cast of characters I would love to see a some new installments of the graphic novel series!
Before you say anything, I know that I started with the last volume. Randomly found it on bookoutlet and freaked out. Ran to my husband and said... did you know about this? Then he got just as stoked as I am. Wheeee!!
It's just like the show. Brings back so many memories of drunken late nights turning into early mornings. Staying up a little extra just to watch this show.
Should probably supplement my rating by saying it ain’t high literature, baby. But it does accomplish what it’s trying to accomplish, which is to be Degrassi as hell. 😂
I really enjoyed this book & it felt like a good continuation of the story! It did feel like it could’ve easily been an episode of the show though which is why it is not getting a higher rating. I also am not the biggest fan of Dylan so that didn’t help. 3/5!
CW: homophobia Honestly I related to both story lines and while I still dont like Ashley a lot I think this made her more relatable and slightly less cringey for me. I think its funny as heck they gave The Hat its own character circle and I know it seems like a joke storyline but I've been there in a deep way. When I got back from Forward(its a jesus conference)I kept my bracelets on till they fell off and one year I even taped them back up and put them on my key lanyard. I thought that would keep me connected to the feeling of being there so I get it Ashley. Marco made me mad in this story line when he was yelling on the phone about AIDS then got made at Dylan for saying "stag or f*g" like he didnt just scream AIDS. Also I think Paige would come up with something better than "starts with M and ends with arco" she's Paige for crying out loud lol!! I feel Dylan was being way too pushy with Marco&they try to make it seem understandable just because his parents knew he was gay but didnt know about Dylan like just dont rush people. Telling your parents your dating someone is rough especially since Dylan cheated on him before. I'm not a Dylan&Marco fan but I'm also not a Ashley&Jimmy fan so this book is hard to ship. I liked Ashley&Jimmy in Season 1 but after that its hard to root for them. These storylines are still great though and I relate to both of them plus the artwork is amazing again.
I recently reread for a podcast and honestly the more research you do,the more you learn about the book....the more you can enjoy it!

The same feel as an Archie comic, but more Canadian. A better depiction of gay characters than I was expecting. Very normcore, very safe without being too overly dramatic or sugar-coated.
A really good one to have in a school library for gay teen/preteen boys to get the same type of stories as their straight counterparts. Also a very popular series with grade 5/6 girls.
