If you like the myth, adventure, and romance of fantasy stories by authors like Jaymin Eve, Bella Forrest, and Amy Bartol, you’ll love The Mermaid’s Journey.
This is a reverse harem paranormal romance series appropriate for ages 18+.

Oh wow!! Mermaid’s Journey is book 2 in The Siren Series!! And it was ahhmmmaaazziiinggg!! I was hooked on the first book, but this book brings so much more!! I could not put it down!! I can’t wait to read the next installment!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I felt so bad for Coral cuz these guys are still thinking about money and treasure even in this book. They are not even willing to move into the same house which Coral wants, they dont even want to share her with each other, they dont want to spend time with each other, they dont want her to meet their parents and Gio did but that was awkward af. Coral needs to leave them asap.
Wow! This book is as good as the first book but in such a different way! The other book is a lot more fun and sexy. This one is fun and interesting but there’s a lot more character development and seriousness. I enjoyed getting to know the guys and Coral’s experiences on land are believable and relatable. I did find some of her insecurities to be sad and I wanted her to get more confident and for things to get better. Maybe that will change with the 3rd book. The twist at the end is awesome! I’m excited to get to book three.
I received a free copy form the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and excitedly started reading book 2. Book 2 is very different than book 1 in a lot of ways, but it's just as good. I really enjoyed this mermaid tale and had so much fun reading this book. And after the twist at the end I can't wait to get my hands on book 3 as I want to know more!
The Mermaid's Journey tells the next part in the Coral's journey. Where book 1 mostly took place on an uninhabited island, now they are back to the mainland and the city where the men live. I liked the different setting in this book, how this changed their relationship and the story took a different direction, it really worked for this book. It also nicely shows how different things are now. Where their relationship was easy on the island with no one else around, but them, there are challenges now that they are in a city with lots of people around and the men have their own lives to get back to
I am really impressed with how the author wrote everything from Coral's point of view, she really managed to make it realistic how Coral reacted to everything. Basically everything is new to her and she doesn't know a lot of things and I thought how she acted was very believable. I liked seeing everything from her point of view and reading about how she experiences this new world.
Some scenes are funny and happy when you see Coral experience new thing. But there are also some sad scenes or when things go wrong because she doesn't know how things work. I felt sad for Coral at times as she really is out of depth, she wants to be independent and help the men as well, but the truth is that she needs the men their help to make it in this world. And at times it also was clear she longed for the comfort of the sea where she felt more herself and where she knew how things worked. There is so much she doesn't know about the human world and I really liked seeing her perspective on things. There are also some insecurities that pop in Coral in this book, she wants to fit in, but struggles. And there's also a scene where she hears the nasty thoughts of other women about her appearance and doubts herself even more.
Now that they're back among civilization I felt that the men their different personalities became a lot more obvious. While on the island they all where focused on survival, here their different interests, hobbies and priorities shine through more. I liked how we now learned more about them and their lives.
And while I liked getting to know the men more in this book, they all had aspects I didn't care for as much as well. Liam and Jude both did something on different points in the book I wasn't happy with as they didn't seem to consider Coral as much in what they did, but only thought about their own feelings. Gio was focused on his sister for a while and Coral felt a bit like a second thought at times. Avery turned into my favorite of the four in this book, although I didn't care about the whole makeup thing as much. And while I might be annoyed at some of the things they did, I did feel like it was realistic. They now have the chance to follow their dreams and the whole situation with Coral is pretty different and unique. With the whole reverse harem part and how she knows so little about the human world it is a difficult situation.
I liked seeing how the reverse harem and romance aspect developed in this book and how they struggle with how to make it all work. They all want Coral as a girlfriend, but aren't sure they want to share and how to make that work. I thought it made sense to see how their romance had some strains and tension now as it's such a different situation than where they met in book 1.
I liked how there were scenes with them all as a group and also scenes where Coral is with each of them alone or going out to do something with one of the men. I liked how their relationship with each of the men progressed and changed in this book. And to be honest at times I really wondered how they are going to make this work, the men all have their own live and while they all care about her they struggle with how to make it work.
There isn't as much actual mermaid stuff in this book, only a few scenes, but I didn't mind too much. And in a sense the story is still about her being a mermaid and how the human world is so different to her, so I do think her being a mermaid still is a big part of the story. It's more a fish out of the water type of the story, which was great. There are some scenes later in the book that focus a bit more on the underwater world. And with the news we get at the end of the book, I am really curious about book 3. I am also glad that it touches upon a topic regarding the mermaids that I was wondering about.
To summarize: this was a great sequel and I liked how it was different than book 1, but just as good. Book 1 took place on an uninhabited island and now they are rescued and return to the mainland where the men all have their own lives. I liked seeing how Coral adjusted to this whole new world, it was very well written. There are some happy and funny scenes, but also some sad scenes or where Coral gets hurt or says the wrong thing because of how little she understands of this world. Coral's relationship with each of the men changes and develops. There also is some tension and struggle surrounding the romance and the reverse harem aspect and how there are going to make it work. There is a great reveal at the end that makes me really excited about book 3!
Blurb: runaway mermaid, four sexy, potential mates vying to claim her, and a destiny divided between two worlds.
After escaping the curse that bound all mermaids to the sea and meeting four, sexy potential human mates, Coral longs to explore their world and live as a human.
But even though the guys have agreed to share her affections, it’s not easy to keep four very different men happy, and Coral is frightened and overwhelmed by the complexities of life on land and struggling to find her way in a whole new world.
When Coral’s secret is discovered, she’s torn from the men she loves and thrown into captivity. But when an unexpected rescuer reveals an intriguing world she never knew existed, she’ll once again have to choose between the land and the sea.
I liked this sequel in the series a lot. The characters are really fun and I felt like I was there with them experiencing the human world from their point of view. What I didn't like as much is there wasn't too much discussion about the mermaid culture itself, but from being set in human world it works!
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.
This second installment of The Siren series picks up where The Mermaid's Escape left off. Coral, Liam, Jude, Gio, and Avery are back on the mainland. As Gio is on the mend in the hospital, the men are worrying about how they are going to get back to their normal lives after being alone on the island for so long. Coral doesn't want their group to separate and thinks that their separation might lead to them wanting her to choose one of them, permanently. Also, life on the island was simple. Coral didn't have to learn how to be "normal". Now, she has been thrown into the real world, she has to learn tons of things that she has never even seen before, such as showers, refrigerators, or phones. When they all move into the apartment together, tensions build between the guys as they continue to compete for Coral's love.
I loved this book even more than The Mermaid's Escape. I honestly received this book around 7:30 a few nights ago, and I finished it around 9:30 that same night. This story will draw you in from the first word, and it won't let you go until the very last.
Coral truly grows in this novel as she changes from a stranded mermaid to a woman who lives with humans in urban Earth. The men were able to teach her some things on the island, but they couldn't teach her everything, and they definitely couldn't teach her about modern technology. She also has to learn how to fit in in order not to attract attention to herself. These things may be difficult for her, but she wants to do what she can to make things easier for the guys.
Liam, Avery, Gio, and Jude put up with each other on the island because they had to in order to stay alive. Now that they are back on the mainland, they are starting to fall back into their old habits. Without the island keeping them together, the connection seems to be gone. They have to keep it together for Coral, but Coral worries that they will eventually get fed up with each other and just leave. In this book, Gio has the most growth, but I will not spoil anything. If your favorite character in the last book was Gio, you definitely have to read this one.
The pacing of this novel is perfect, and there is not a dull moment as Coral interacts with all 4 men. There wasn't a single editing error that I saw, even though I got an advanced copy, which is definitely something that should be applauded. My only real complaint would be that it ends on a cliffhanger, which only makes me want to read the third book soon. Only a few more months to wait!
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves reverse harem or romance novel with three-dimensional characters, amazing storytelling, and creative world-building.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
Once again Kellie McAllen seamlessly continues this 2nd book so effortlessly. This book I felt, was more about getting to know more about the guys Real personalities and goals in the real world. After all on a desert island for 3mths, who worrys about there mortgages and jobs, especially when they have the sexy mermaid Coral hanging off there arms and every word they say. There is a lot more jealousy from the guys sharing Coral, when they are back to reality, they all still want her, but now it’s exclusively. They don’t realise how hard it is for Coral to fit into their world, she has to be shown how to walk in shoes, so she faces a lot of difficulties so much so she questions if she has actually made the right decision, to leave the island with them, but her heart would break if she walked away. Also they seem to have forgotten Coral can read their thoughts, and they certainly are not filtering them. So that’s the bare bones of the storyline, inbetween, there are lots of moments of blessings, love, innocence, encouragement and ones that are abit funny but then woven into the storyline, times change introducing, worry, fear, accumulating difficulties, hard times, suffering and a catastrophe none of them ever expect. The dramatic cliffhanger ending left my jaw hanging. Kellie McAllen has such an engaging ability to keep you hooked on her storylines. Her creativity keeps her stories fresh and original, and always so well defined. You can envisage her plots and feel the emotions of her characters just like your own breathe. I have read and enjoyed a few of her series now, including the Date with Destiny and The Caged & Holiday High series’s which are mainly in the YA section. This however is the first 18+ series I have started to follow, and have found the exact same exceptional and remarkable talent, she has applied to any book she has published. If you like fantasy mixed a with reverse harem theme, then this book is for you.
In this second installment of Coral's story, our runaway mermaid is having a hard time trying to fit into the human world. Her four protectors are devoted to her, helping her navigate unfamiliar waters, teaching her things like how to dress, how to cook and how to use various pieces of technology. Throughout, however, Coral sees her men trying to reclaim their lives and making plans to pursue each of their own dreams. While all are affectionate and loving toward her, Coral sees the potential for their developing relationships to fall apart.
Broken-hearted by the potential disintegration of these loving relationships, Coral is constantly on edge, trying to find ways to hold her new family together while helping each of her men in any way she can to achieve their dreams.
The loving relationships between Coral and each of her men are touching and well-developed in this story. While all of the men love Coral in their own ways, their desire to pursue their individual passions rings true and introduces significant tension to the story. Each of her suitors is somewhat of an archetype; the sensitive artist, the protective alpha male, the happy-go-lucky life of the party and the intelligent and thoughtful scholar. Their individual quirks prevent them from becoming too predictable, however.
I can't wait for the next installment of the story to find out whether these five individuals can find a way to come together in a meaningful and lasting way.
This is a voluntary review of an ARC of the story.
First, read book one in the series before you read this one. This book is the second in a series, and you do want the background story before jumping into this book.
The book starts with Coral who has survived the mermaid's curse and rescued from the island along with her four men. She is overwhelmed and confused with how humans live on land. Coral is excited to learn and has chosen to live as a human. However, Coral is torn cause the four men have returned and want to pick back up where they left. The guys have their own lives that were separate before Coral. Can they make it work when they are surrounded by other humans versus the simple life they lead on the island?
I was excited to read the second book in the series. I can finally know what happened and watch a whole new struggle appear. This time it seems like Coral is still learning about herself, but she now has to adapt to being human in the boy's world. Coral is becoming more assertive in what she wants and is curious about her new world. The guys are also having to adjust to this new life of being centered around one lady. It is not a social norm, so they have to figure out how to handle it along with a way to support this new lady in their life. I don't want to spoil this book for anyone, but there is a twist towards in the end that I wasn't expecting. I was surprised, and it just makes me want to read the next book in the series more. I look forward to the next book in the series.
The Mermaids Journey by Kellie McAllen a five-star read that will make you want to run away to the ocean. This is the second story in the Sirens series, and I’m so pleased this series goes from strength to strength. Kellie McAllen has written five main characters that each enthral you with their own uniqueness, but she doesn’t stop there, she brings in more characters and situations that keep you hooked, just when you think that you know where the story is going, boom something new pops up and you are left with questions that mean I have to wait for the next book in the series to find out what will happen next. Normally I’m a little angry when I’m left with questions, but this author does it in a way that gives with one hand and takes with the other, leaving you feeling emotionally wrought but will a full heart. If you are looking for a great read about mermaids in a different light, then this is the read for you. In this story we watch as Coral finds her legs, getting to know the pains and pitfalls of life with four men as well as all the good bits, it shows us a real story not the glossy version we seem to get so often recently. Thank you Kelly McAllen for once again producing a passionate and thrilling read.
The 2nd book in this series broadens as has Coral's world when she and Avery, Giovanni, Liam, and Jude return to their home. Coral is introduced to so many new things that her head is constantly spinning. In the meantime, now that the guys are back to their own environment, Coral fears that they don't seem as interested as all being together as they did on the island. Each of her guys gives her a different aspect of this new life - - Giovanni introduces her to his younger sister, Bella, who is currently in foster care and doesn't seem to like Coral; Avery teaches her to use makeup; Liam tries to teach her to cook. When Giovanni buys another boat and they head back out to sea to return to the shipwreck to find more treasure, Coral is captured by James and his shipmates, only to be rescued by a German, who opens up a whole other world of which Coral was not aware. This book ends with Coral having to temporarily leave her 4 loves, and we'll see what happens in the 3rd installment. Very interesting reading, and your mind and curiosity is peaked to see if Coral will end up on and or sea, or perhaps a little of both.
This is another 5 star read from Kellie that will have your emotions on a rollercoaster. We follow coral back to land with her 4 divers as she struggles to fit in with the human world. Out swimming a shark? No problem. Reheating spaghetti on the stove? Totally different story. We’re brought along for the ups and downs of assimilating to things that are brand new to her, but we don’t give a second thought. We’re also given insight to her new insecurities about the men she’s grown to love, and how to keep her relationships with them now that they’re back home. The end of the book was a huge climactic point, ending in a plot twist that will have readers at the edge of their seats. After going back for more treasure and ending up a prisoner, to be saved my her own kind, Will she get back to her men on land, or stay to find out what other heartbreaking secrets her grandfather had kept from her, and the rest of the shoal? I eagerly await the 3rd book.

The Mermaid's Journey is a wonderful book 2 in Kellie McAllen’s The Siren Series and really the perfect sequel to its book 1, The Mermaid’s Escape. As the book’s blurb notes, this is a “whole new world” for Coral, the lead character, to discover - and it’s a total pleasure to follow along. The four sexy hunks vying for her sure sweeten the plot which is a thriller in many ways. This novel truly is, quite simply, wonderful. This tale had just what I wanted and was well written and with a great plot and great cast of characters. Coral, is perfectly crafted and her supporting cast is also superb.
But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommendand I’m definitely looking forward to book 2.
4.5 stars 🌟 - 2nd instalment in this fantasy ‘tail’
The second instalment in this new fantasy series is a compelling story of the challenges that Coral faces on the mainland. The simplest of tasks that we take for granted are complex, confusing and scary. There is also the complication of how to attempt relationships with 4 very different men with competing priorities and desires!
We get to know the background of the shipwrecked crew, their pasts and their hopes for the future, which shows the difficulties ahead of trying to merge these relationships.
As the crew head back out to sea to retrieve the sunken treasure, there are still challenges ahead and surprises to be found...
I can’t wait for the third instalment to find out where this Mermaid’s Journey leads.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Captivating, Unique Plot with Interesting Characters
What a great second book in this series. Coral, a mermaid turned human, was living with four shipwrecked treasure hunters on a deserted island until they are “rescued” in book 1. This book starts with the 5 of them in the hospital as Geo recovers from an appendectomy. Coral’s life in the suburbs is like a 5-year-old learning how to do new things. She has the ability to read other people’s thoughts, which helps her immensely. But, how can she survive when she doesn’t know how to shop, cook, use money, or even shower and use a toilet? The guys are still ok with sharing her affection as they teach her how to be a human on dry land. However, the four guys all have different plans for their future. How will Coral fit in?
This book is awesome in describing Coral’s struggles with living in a suburb as a human. Her desire to stay with all four guys is palpable. Kellie does a great job of keeping the four guys very distinct and her writing allows us to understand how Coral feels about each one of them. At the end of this book, Coral has a big decision to make, which makes me want to start book 3 immediately. The story (plot) is captivating and the characters are very realistic and well described. If (and when) this series is sold as a box set, but it as a set! You won’t want to stop reading this series after each book ends!
Kellie McAllen has done it again with the five star amazing continuation of the Siren Series. I have totally fallen in love with Coral, Gio, Liam, Jude and Avery.
This book tells the story of Coral and her adjustment to living on the land. From learning how to use silverware, apply make-up, shop....basically how to fit in a world she knows nothing about. The reality of how the relationship they all desire will work is also a big part of the storyline.
The plot twist at the end blew me away. I can’t wait to read The Mermaid’s Return which is the next book in this fabulous series. Which by the way is a series that I highly recommend.
“I received an ARC from the author. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. This is my honest review.”
This is the 2nd book in the Siren series and it’s getting better and better as the series goes along. Coral and the guys are back on the mainland and they all move into a place together but things aren’t easy for Coral because she has to learn everything about living as a human. As the men try to get their lives back Coral is worried that the men will want her to pick one of them and she just can’t do it she loves them all. This is such a fantastic read and I can’t wait to get my hands on book 3, there’s so much in this story to keep you entertained and turning the pages I loved this story and I know you will too. A 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
This reverse harem series explores the interesting conflict in Coral's life after deciding to become human. Who would have thought that becoming a human was so complicated? I love how the depth of the characters are explored and how the complexity of learning to live like a human is causing increasing conflict in Coral's mind. This book has a combination of romance, passion, drama, action and mystery. It will certainly help you to escape reality for a while. I can't wait for the next book to see how this ends!! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Mermaid's Journey – Book 2 of the Siren Series, by Kellie McAllen
You can try starting with this book, but you'll be missing all the back story from Book 1, The Mermaid's Escape. There is a mini cliffhanger as the end leads into Book 3.
I said in my review for Book 1, that the relationship between Coral and her guys was tastefully written. The love scenes are light, not overly described/done and fit into the storyline. Laugh, cry and cheer Coral on as she learns how to do things on land.
The characters and story are well-written and interesting. There's some action packed, seat of your pants, what's going to happen next moments towards the end, along with something that will change Coral's thoughts at the end … which is the lead into Book 3. Most of the story is Coral and the guys trying to fit into each other's lives now that everyone is back on dry land. I enjoyed and felt Coral's frustration as she tries to learn how to function and fit-in on land and how things are changing for her, now that the five of them aren't really living together anymore. And then what lays ahead in Book 3.
I'm still enjoying the story that is quite different from anything I've ever read. I wasn't sure in both books how the reverse harm theme would be, but in the end, it didn't really bother me.
Superb read. Well written with a great plot and characters. I was engrossed from start to finish. This book starts where book 1 leaves off. This book is about Coral and her 4 protectors going back to the mainland. Coral is being taught how to be normal....dressing, cooking, technology. She is worried that the men will want her to pick just one of them due to the tensions building over competing for her love. I absolutely loved this book, just as much as book 1. I can't wait to read the next book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Coral and her men decide to go treasure hunting. With her mermaid abilities, Coral is perfect for the job. Unfortunately, trouble finds her. First with a cut from the coral, with the shark following the blood trail, then with kidnappers who have seen her in mermaid form. Full of action, with a great plot and characters. I can't wait for book 3!! I received a complimentary copy and freely give my honest review.
Oh my tails.....the more I read, the more I fall in love with mermaids! Miss Kellie has written such an incredible story of love and life and everything that creates ones life, that you are literally living the story of Coral. Wishing you were the one helping her out and teaching her the day to day activities! It's really a beautiful read and the guy's are so amazing!
How is it possible that out of all the reverse harem novels I've read so far, the one about a mermaid princess is the most believable? I loved it. The struggle with their relationship, the way Coral has to learn about this world, how even the smallest things can overwhelm her, and as they show howhard is it really to insert someone else in your life-especially in an unconventional relationship. Great read, and I say it as someone who always hated the little mermaid story.
Not as good as the first maybe it would have been better with some pov from the guys but it was really hard to read about their relationships being so strained for seemingly no reason. You would think after months on an island together they'd have a stronger connection but I don't know I just wasn't feeling the love as much as I wanted to in this one. It will probably redeem itself in the 3rd book but I don't think I'm in the mood to stick around for that maybe on a reread.
Coral and they guys get back to civilization and she learns that what she knows is even less than she thought. They all want to go their own way but don't want to leave her either. The view of daily living with humans from Coral's viewpoint are both comical and frightening. I laughed and cried and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. One of those books that you just can't put down until you finish.
( I received a digital copy of the book. Thanks to Kellie McAllen!!!! )
This book was so amazing. I've been really looking forward to it after the last one and thankfully it didn't disappoint. The series is just getting more and more interesting. This book ends at a cliff hanger and I'm driving myself crazy thinking what might happen ahead. Can't wait to read the next book.
I had a hard time getting into this story. This book focused more them adjusting to their lives once more and trying to find a fit with Coral now. I’ll admit I couldn’t really get into this book it was until the end that it really caught my attention. I look forward to seeing where the story goes with this new development!
Cute addition- a little slow compared to the first in the series. Gives you a little more insight into all of the men’s lives. And the struggle with Coral adapting to her new world. The end was also the climax, leaving you craving the next book. I’m excited to see what happens next. I received an ARC for an honest review.
I can't wait to see what will happen to Coral next. Coral decides she wants to live as a human, so she goes home with her men. It is such a different world and she has so much to learn. Will she ever be able to live on her own and not be dependent on the men? She isn't even sure that she is what they need. Then she finds herself in trouble and back in the ocean. What will happen next?
