DOUBLE STOPS

Rate this book
14 pages are given to each key, covering every technical aspect of thirds, sixths, octaves, fingered octaves and tenths.
By dealing with the elements of the scales one at a time, this material makes it easy to practise each technical facet on its own. At the same time the exercises gradually build everything back together into the complete scale.
Nothing like Double Stops has ever existed before. It is an extraordinary addition to the essential technical repertoire of every violinist.

This is a book to STUDY, not to read, but it is so awesome that I had to add. To some this book will be HELL. Fischer devises a series of TWENTY exercises that culminate and lead you to play a scale in double stops. Each step is relatively simple, and brilliant because it allows you to focus on one technical element at a time. A conservatory trained player myself, years out of school...but after working on one scale for 10 minutes a day for 3 days, I had gained so much confidence in my double stop thirds that my whole standard for playing 'scales' has changed. Surely for the advanced player, but a miraculous contribution to the violin and viola literature nonetheless!
