Riot MC #1

Unforeseen Riot

Rate this book
Mallory Pierce, a thirty-one-year-old widow, has been hiding from life after losing her husband and son to a drunk driving accident a year and a half ago. Friends tried to get Mallory to get back into the swing of things; but it isn’t until she meets Riot MC biker, Cal Robertson, when Mallory begins to live again. The chemistry between Mallory and Cal is volatile from the beginning, and when Cal offers her a ride on his motorcycle, Mallory cannot refuse. Soon after meeting Cal, Mallory’s home is burglarized. Police attribute it to teenage gang activity, but Cal Robertson finds out about the home invasion and insists on helping Mallory put the pieces back together. Mallory agrees to a date with Cal, which goes awry when Cal must take Mallory to his club’s compound so he can fulfill his duty as the club’s Sergeant at Arms. Even though Mallory is physically attracted to Cal, she knows she doesn’t fit in with his biker lifestyle.
Mallory’s relationship with Cal has a rough start, but the two of them cannot stay away from one another. After an attempt by a rival MC to abduct Mallory she finds herself all but living with Cal. There are many things she doesn’t understand about his lifestyle and his world, but she understands she’s quickly developing feelings for this over-protective alpha male.
Cal “Callous” Robertson has been a patched member of the Riot MC for the past nineteen years, and the Sergeant-at-Arms for the last eight. He’s fascinated by the spunky brunette, Mallory Pierce, who is one of the only women to push his buttons. He doesn’t believe the police explanation of teenagers being behind the burglary, mainly because after eleven years in the foster care system he knows about being a troubled teen. He thinks Mallory’s mother-in-law is behind the break-in, but at such an early point in their relationship Cal keeps that to himself. When a member of a rival MC shows interest in Mallory, Cal can no longer deny his attraction to her. Cal is determined to protect Mallory, and get to know her better along the way. The more he finds out, the more he wants her in his life. Permanently. When Mallory is abducted from Bike Week right under Cal’s nose, he finds he cannot live without this spitfire woman in his life, and he’ll do whatever he has to in order to get her back.

DNF @50%

I really tried team. I just can't handle the asinine characters, and let me tell ya, there was not one character I liked. Theres this trend in MC romance where the hero's go on these long winded misogynistic monologues about "being a man and his woman needs to submit to him" sprinkled with romance-y verbiage to make it sound nice. this is not my jam. I felt the hero didn't respect the heroine at all, and the heroine lets him plow over her at every chance he gets. We also have the obnoxious best friend and one of the old ladies that becomes an 'Insta-friend.' On top of that we had some good old fashion manwhores and slut shaming to top it off.

There were a lot of things wrong with this but the thing that truly made me cringe was when the President of the motorcycle club is talking to the heroine and he says something like, "You would put your BFF in danger like that?" I'm sorry but what male motorcycle gang member would ever say BFF in a serious conversation?? Like does the author read her own writing? (*ugh* why am I so picky)

And theres also this really bizarre scene where the heroine goes to throw eggs at a high school?? And then gets upset when a rotten egg gets in her hair because she mentions it like... 80 times. I was just like "what the actual fuck am I supposed to be reading here?"

Side note: I live in Philly and there are quite a few MC gangs in the area. NONE of those men are even remotely attractive so its getting harder to picture all of these bikers having three ways with 'sweet-butts' and whatnot.

Let's start off by saying that this is a new author for us, and we loved our first read from them. The story did an amazing job starting off this new MC series, and we have to say that we absolutely are loving the characters she has created for ourselves.

Cal and Mallory characters made it easy to love them, we loved them as soon as we were introduced to them. I will say that the girl gang /slash old ladies definitely make you laugh at their antic each and every book but, most of all, their character are unique and oh so fun.

My favorite character would be Cal.I just loved him from the onset of the story. I found him to be brash, cocky, fun, possessive, had a dominated personalty and a take charge kind of guy who and doesn't take no for an answer and is hot as he**.

I loved Mallory as well, we found her to be a firecracker that made us laugh. Not only that, but I loved that she had a backbone and had no trouble telling it like it is. Not only that, but I love that she had a fun and outgoing personality.

I loved the romance aspect between these two as they were total opposites but, fit together perfectly. I loved their banter back and forth with one another. Their conversations with one another made us smile constantly throughout the story.

Cal and Mallory's chemistry was off the charts as they were totally hot in and out of bed but, they brought some serious heat when they were in bed together! "Steamy"

Overall, we loved this story from cover to cover. For us, it was a fun read kept us interested and engrossed in the story to the very end, and we have to say that the characters were a breath of fresh air with their unique personalities and just as unique nicknames as well as road names we loved it!

5 stars from us

DNF at 57%, this one just isn't for me. It started out very promising I was liking the story and the writing. But the h doesn't agree with me and with what happens at 57% I'm tapping out. I'm sure many people will like this one unfortunately I'm passing.

This was my first read by this author...I was just a little disappointed...this book is still a good read dont get me wrong and it had a good storyline. I am normally ok with small details in a story when they are necessary..however I feel like there were too many small details that weren't needed and just made the book longer...Cal was supposed to be an alpha man but the words just didnt make him seem like a good one..Mal was a strong heroine character with lots of sass and attitude...loved her character...loved the characters of the other bikers in the MC as well...overall a good story and I will read the rest of the series when released

This is an enjoyable story if you're a fan of early Kristen Ashley. It's about a 1% MC but there's really no details about what makes Riot MC the usual 1% hard, gritty type of club. In fact there's very little related to the club. It's all about the members who are hot, possessive and just all around good guys. Then you have the heroine who's a good girl. A drunk driver took her husband and child 18 months ago and she's just entered back into living life. I was well on my way to giving this one at least four stars but along about 80% the really good mystery plot just fell apart and became a little silly. The book straddles the line between portraying a 1% MC, a strong alpha male, a strong but oblivious heroine and a host of secondary characters. I noticed the following things in reading it.
-Lots and lots of descriptions, clothes, houses, places, etc
-The H reminds me of Tack from Motorcycle Man
-The h reminds me of Gwen
-The h has multiple men who want her. Kind of reminiscent of Gwen also.
-The h's parents remind me of Gwen's parents
-The h's BFF is a black woman who reminds me of Elvira and there's a bunch of other friends that remind me of the Rock Chicks.
-I could feel shades of Mystery Man, Motorcycle Man and other KA books.
The writing style is good but a little overdone on the descriptions IMO. I will read the next book in the series.

For a first book by this author, it wasn't too bad. I enjoyed the book from the beginning. So reason why 3 stars only? The story was good, the drama was good and the action was great, the characters remind me of a really good KA Story.

But then when it got to the ending part, it just fell flat for me. I would like to do the second book and I'm hoping it will get better.

A very good start

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I loved Mallory and how she didn't let her past completely destroy her. Cal is your typical biker, alpha male. I can't wait for Vamp' s book. I really hope Razor gets a book (definitely a story there). As a first book for this author she did a great job. My only criticism would be i found some scenes a bit too descriptive. I found a couple of scenes with so much description it took away from the story. Overall I enjoyed and will be reading her next book. Keep writing!!

I liked this book. Did it have some problems, sure, but it kept me engaged and wanting to see how it ended which I find a lot of books these days don't. I found myself having fun reading this book, it did have a KA feel of old days, and the main female character was over the top but I didn't mind. I did wish the author didn't rush the ending as much but she did give a bit of epilogue so that was good. This book was mainly the Mal's pov, but Cal made his opinion know so you didn't really need his POV, this is MC light and I'm glad I heard and read this book. I'm also glad there was no cheating.

Unexpected....

This was a really good read. Enjoyed immensely.....Loved the storyline, Mallory's feistiness, friendships , sexy alpha bikers, little twists, and it had me laughing out loud a few times. Cal was perfect for Mallory. And once the club accepted you, you have an abundance of family that she so desperately craved. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. And by really hope we haven't heard the last from Razor.

Carla's Five Star Review

After losing her husband and young son to a drunk driving accident, Mallory Pierce has just been going through the motions of life. Friends have tried to get her back into the swing of things to no avail. It isn't until a foul mouthed alpha biker named Cal comes barreling into her life that she finally begins to feel a spark of life ignite within her, and, let me tell you, the chemistry between these two is off the charts! So, what's the problem you ask? Well, Mallory and Cal come from two different worlds and that leaves them both questioning if a relationship between them is even a possibility.

Okay, this was my first time reading anything by this particular author, but it certainly won't be the last! I just fell head over heels for Cal. Yes, he was the epitome of a one percent biker, but underneath his rough exterior, he truly had a heart of gold. When he loved, he loved hard, and, god help anyone who threatened those he cared about! And Mallory? She was so strong and had a sassy mouth to boot. Most people wouldn't have survived the tragedy that she suffered, and her strength only made me love her more!

Unforeseen Riot is filled with action, angst, and the perfect amount of heat. If you are like me and love a good MC read, this one you won't want to miss!

Ok...stick with this story people! I am at 4.5 stars but I am rounding to 5 because the last 1/2 of the book the writing flowed and the sneak peak of the next book shows a lot of promise.
Mallory is existing after the death of her husband and young son, and Cal is someone who sparks her back to life. Their chemistry is great. I LOVED Cal, I liked Mallory. It was hard to connect with her for the first few chapters just because there wasn't a lot of emotion about her past and what she had to work through. She was perhaps too stubborn in places. Their chemistry is great, and I loved the side characters that were developed. All in all a good read, and I am excited for the next book!

This is a new author to me, and my word, she did not disappoint! Mallory is just going through the motions of living after the tragic death of her husband and son. Cal is the Sergeant-In-Arms for the Riot MC, and there is an intense chemistry between him and Mallory. These two are total opposites, yet so perfect together. This is a well written, emotional and compelling story, which is filled with angst, humour, drama, danger, suspense and love. I look forward to reading more of this authors’ work, and recommend for all MC lovers out there!

Wow Karen has written another amazing story. Couldn't pit the book down from the start. This story is about Mallory and Cal. Mallory is a widower and she meets Cal on her night out with friends and sparks start thto o fly straight away with them. They have a few problems with family and the mc girls but the pair sort it and end up HEA. Cannot edit for the book in the series.

Karen Renee is a new writer to me but when I read the blurb of ‘Unforeseen riot’ I really wanted to read the book. Because MC stories are one of my favourite genres in romance books.

‘Unforeseen riot’ is the first book in the Riot MC series. So we not only get to meet Mallory Pierce and biker Cal Robertson in this story but we also meet Mallory’s friends and Cal’s MC brothers. But although we meet some bikers (and their girlfriends) and we learn more about their club, the story was more centred around the relationship between Mallory and Cal. But it didn’t bothered me but it did left me with questions about the club. The story is told from Mallory’s POV. For me personal, the story didn’t feel dark (some MC romance stories are), this one was more a ‘light’ MC story.

After finishing this book I was left with mixed feelings. So far I know ‘Unforeseen riot’ was the writer’s debut book and in a way you could tell. This story wasn’t perfect BUT I couldn’t stop reading it. The men were alpha men and the women had a lot of sass (something that I like in my books). But I must confess that there were moments that I wondered if Mallory didn’t show too much of an attitude against Cal. But she never crossed a line. Although Mallory described herself as shy, I didn’t really saw this side of her in the story. Cal was an very alpha man, in the beginning I found it hard to connect with him but during the story, he opened up and that made that I understood and liked him better.

The story was good and it left me curious enough to want to read the next book in this series.

I really liked Mallory and felt bad for her past, with her husband and child. You could see how she was just coming out of the fog of loosing them, ready to start living again. It was a good thing she ran into call, he was just the person to help her find happy in living again, even as they drove me nuts at times. I liked how strong Mallory was, but when faced with a MC she had a hard time with their "rules" at life and this often caused tiffs between her and Cal. The first couple were funny, but when the kept happening every 10 pages I got annoyed fast. I did like how Mallory brought the two sides of her life together, how she was able to eventually see how the MC was like a family and bond with the other women.

The parts with Mallory's mother-in-law was predictable and very obvious. I was glad that she finally wised up there.

Business analyst, Mallory Pierce, has been struggling through the day to day since a tragic accident took her husband and her son from her. Her friends keep pulling her out, but when she meets MC club member, Cal Roberson, that's when she starts to come out of her shell. Her first reaction is attraction, and her second is guilt, but Cal seems to have a way of just showing up when she needs him and you find a relationship blossoming. For the most part, I enjoyed reading this book. I liked Mallory and most of the supporting characters, but Cal..... Cal is a controlling, demanding jerk. The plot line sucked me in, and I kept right on reading my way through it because I was interested in the story, but I could definitely go with a different hero.

A deeply emotional romance that is engaging and entertaining. I loved Mallory and Cal's story. These characters were complex and likable. Mallory's history is painful and full of loss. Numb with grief she is basically just going through the motions. Cal is strong and tough, he is his clubs Sergeant at Arms. These are two very different people but that doesn't stop the incredible pull of attraction they feel for each other. With lots of drama, angst, action, danger, and suspense added to this steamy romance to create a excellent read. I'm posting a completely honest, voluntary review after reading this book.

Mallory is a young woman, who just a year and a half ago, lost both her son and husband in a car accident. She’s very slowly trying to reinsert herself into life with friends when Cal (aka Callous, and sergeant at arms of the Riot MC) comes along and decides to rile her up and get her to stop existing and start living again. The two quickly begin a “romance” and very easily get under each other’s skin in every way possible, whether it’s in the bedroom or something as mundane as an every day conversation. Then, personal problems that Mallory wasn’t even aware she had begin to put her life in danger.  I found that Mallory and Cal’s relationship was like a rollercoaster. They could go from hot to cold and vice versa at the flip of a switch, but it seemed to work pretty well for them.

Another great one from Karen Renee!

Mallory has had her share of heartbreak. Her husband and son died in a car crash, and since then, she has been a former shell of herself. Her mother inlaw Gwen, has been hounding her about an insurance claim from Mallories lawyer, regarding these two deaths. To say she's stressed is an understatement. One night, Mallory, gets a phone call from friend of her and her husband to play trivia. Only on the other line is Cal, pushing her buttons about her coming. When he hangs up on her, it infuriates her. She gets dressed, then leaves, to head to the bar to give him a piece of her mind. This is the start of Cal and Mallories journey. It's full of passion, heartbreak, and eye opening admissions, that have each of them questioning their truths. I loved Cal's alphaness, dedication, and possessiveness when it came to Mal. It appears as though it is love at first sight. Mal's stubbornness left me wanting to strangle her sometimes. Her grief has got in the way with her feelings in the beginning, but her devotion, sassiness, and passion for Cal shines through! Readers: you will love this one!

This MC romance was full of spitfire sass, humor, and one sexy MC hero! Cal was the rough, alpha antihero with a soft spot and a protective instinct. I loved the way Mallory was introduced into the MC lifestyle. It was a great second chance at love for her. Great read with exciting twists.
