Three strikes and you’re out—or so the saying goes. But when three strange occurrences happen in the same week, Kate Pierce finds it far more alarming than a simple coincidence.
Kate’s horrific nightmares have returned with a vengeance and cause her to doubt her role as a detective who is taken seriously by her colleagues. A stranger in town has an unusual attraction to Kate, and her former landlord has just been brutally murdered in her old apartment.
The Washburn County Sheriff’s Office has its hands full trying to solve a murder without any suspects, but when a clue from an old case rears its ugly head, Kate pulls out all the stops to prove her worthiness to her team.
The resident psychic detective has no idea of the adversary she’s up against, and her risky actions may cost the lives of her and her dearest friends.
Note: All Amber Monroe books are standalone stories but since characters carry over, they are best read in chronological order.

Editorial Review: “In Sutter’s latest Amber Monroe crime thriller, Amber’s partner, psychic detective Kate Pierce, is eager to take the lead in finding the person who’s just killed her old landlord. Amber’s sister, Jade, meanwhile, nearly loses her life after someone tampers with the brakes on her car. And when a handsome stranger arrives in town, he threatens to come between Kate and the sisters at a time when all three find their lives endangered. Sutter fans know to expect well-drawn characters, but her latest release sharpens the focus on these three women in a terrific and emotionally satisfying read.” Angela M., Editor, Red Adept Editing

C.M. Sutter was born in San Jose, California and split time between the sunny California coast and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a senior in high school, she chose Wisconsin as her permanent address. After many years in the Badger State, she decided on a warmer year-round climate to call home and moved south. Years of progression took her from working in large companies, to twelve years as a massage therapist, and finally, owning a corporation. She has been self-employed for over twenty years. Ms. Sutter has been writing and self-publishing since 2014 with eleven titles published in a different genre. Because of her deep interest in crime and thriller novels, she took up writing in the police procedural/crime thriller genre in 2016.
Great storyline, the best of the series so far. But the only thing that ruined the book was Amber Monroe. I disliked her before & now reading this book has made me hate her more. She is an idiot if she thinks "Sorry" is going to make up for the embarrassment she caused Kate. I know how Kate feels as something similar happened to me so I know for a fact "Sorry" means nothing, they are just words to make the betrayer feel better but not the person they embarrassed. Then there's Amber obvious lack of trust in Kate. So she wants some private space, give it to her. When she is ready to share then she will but no. What does Amber do but invade her privacy & spy on her. A true friend would NEVER do that & Amber has proven she is not a true friend to Kate. Then she treats Kate like a child, phrasing when she has a good idea or does something good. As if that makes up for the embarrassment & lack of trust she has shown Kate. No. I understand Kate wanting to prove herself as a detective. It is Amber Monroe who constantly expects her to use her psychic powers to solve cases. Ever since Greed Amber is the only one who constantly pester Kate in using her psychic powers to solve cases instead old fashion police work. Amber Monroe is a lazy bitch, while she may have good ideas now & then, she is constantly hoping Kate would solve the case for her instead of doing the hard work.
Once again the only great scenes were Jade & Jack; they are the best. Hope I read more of Jade, Jack & J.T.
As a third outing as the "main character" for Amber this was another fast paced thriller. The "doh" moments when the officers actually meet the baddies and not realise are a little frustrating but that adds to the tension.
At least the perp gets his cumuppence after being so clever to avoid detection.
Kate was having nightmares like she did back when she first met the Monroe sisters. Now Kate was a Detective and not knowing what to think of them. She knew the reason for her last nightmares was dead and his brother in jail. Little did she know a hit man had been hired to kill Kate and Jade for what they did to a well known job family. Amber was just going to be a freebie. As attempts are made and failed the Perl just has find other ways to earn his money Another great tale by one of my favorite mystery writers. Will have get some more of them.
Amber,Jade and Kate two police officers and one FBI agent become the target of a families vendetta in the death of a murderous son and the life term of another. Great series.
Man, these books are totally sucking me in! Lucky I work for myself, or I'd be in big trouble. I've been rolling into work late just because I can't stop flipping pages. This author? Total game changer for me.
I feel it helps to read these stories in order. It is not necessary, but helpful. Thrilling page Turner. I like that you get the "bad guy" point of view also.
Liked that the bad guy was caught in the act of attempting to kill the sheriff's detectives and FBI agent, along with enough evidence to put the rest of the group away
Love this author, all I've read so far have been dal page turners. If you want to loose yourself in some good books, I would definitely recommend these x
I like the fact that the author continued the unfinished business with the lynch family. I hope the do the same on other books where the villain is sent to prison.
