I live in a small town in Wisconsin. From my deck, I can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. I live with my husband Dave and dog Buddy. My two children are grown and I have two grandchildren. I love to watch people and that has helped me with my writing. I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.

I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories, I could write I found I like mystery/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.

I loved Barshan and Talli's suspenseful and entertaining storyline. "Barshan" was loaded with riveting twists and turns into the lives of memorable primary and secondary characters who stand for and many against the Bratva Blood Brother: Yuri, Mikail, Roman, Sazon and of course hero, Barshan. Each books takes us further into the backdrop of New Orleans yet this one give us a lot of history on the Romanov's of Russian... which I really enjoyed reading.

I’m so unsure as to whether I enjoyed this book or not. I liked the characters but again I seem to have the same issues with each book... why is there such a huge age gap between the main characters? why are the girls always barely 5ft tall? Why do they always have to be virgins? For crying out loud, WHY?!!! It is not vital to the story and feels unrealistic in that these woman would hold off having sex for so long only to jump into bed with the guy 5 minutes after meeting him and always under weird circumstances for them to have even met. Dahlen is a good writer and her stories have real potential and well thought out storylines. Once again story ended too quickly. I honestly wish maybe the books were a bit longer. While I do have issues with this book I still did thoroughly enjoy it, as I did with the other 2 and I will be reading the next one when it comes out, so she must be doing something right :) while I may have complained about minor details this doesn’t take away from Dahlen’s well thought out connections between each character and how everyone ties together. It also doesn’t take away from the fact that the story has great depth to it. I just wish it had a little more.

This was my first read in this series and now I am definitely going back in to read the first two. i think this story was well developed and the characters had some great depth to them. I loved the uniqueness of the story line in how Barshan and Talli first meet and all the complexities within that first meeting. These two characters just seem to mold and blend together in a perfect way. I am also intrigued by the history that was brought into the story line and how that played out.

A great solid read

REVIEW: 3.75 stars-- BARSHAN is the third instalment in KJ Dahlen’s contemporary adult BRATVA BLOOD BROTHERS erotic, romance, Russian Mafia series focusing on a tight knit group of friends, Blood Brothers, originally from Russia. This is Red Star Security owner Barshan Stanikoff, and jeweller Talli Janick’s story line. BARSHAN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: BARSHAN is the re-release of the authors October 2017 BLOOD TAINTED DIAMONDS

SOME BACKGROUND: Several years earlier, five young boys and childhood friends (Yuri, Sazon, Barshan, Mikial and Roman) survived the mean-streets of Russia only to be rescued and reared by a local gym owner Ivan Russo, who would meet his death by a local gang. Seeking revenge against the gang, local Russian Bratva member and soon to be New York Russian mafia leader Nikoli Silvanic would mentor the five young men until they were ready to take on the world, with the approval of Russian Bratva leader Sergi Constantine. When the time came Nikoli Silvanic would take over the New York territory, while the five ‘blood brothers’ would take over New Orleans. The Bratva Blood Brothers are their stories.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Barshan and Talli) BARSHAN follows the quick building relationship between Red Star Security owner Barshan Stanikoff, and jeweller Talli Janick. Several months earlier Barshan loaned businessman Russell Jerome a quarter of a million dollars, a loan that came due shortly after the death of his beloved wife Claudette Janick-Jerome. Unable to make restitution Jerome offers his late wife’s share of Christophe’s Jewellers, a family owned business currently run by the owner’s daughter, shares Russell had no authorization to offer. Enter Talli Janick, sole owner of Christophe’s Jewellers, and the woman with whom Barshan will fall in love. What ensues is the quick building romance between Barshan and Talli as Talli is targeted by an unknown source.

Barshan Stanikoff suspects he has been conned especially with the appearance of the Ukranian mob. With threats against our heroine’s life including several break and enters, assault and a fire that almost destroys Christophe’s Jewellers, Barshan claims Talli as his own in order to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. Talli is a strong-willed, talented heroine but the on-going intimidation and threats place our heroine in a life-threatening situation. All evidence points to something to hide, something that is far more precious than anyone could have imagined.

Like the two previous story lines, the relationship between Barshan and Talli is very quick to develop. Barshan’s attraction to Talli is immediate, and within hours our hero claims Talli as his own, much to the bewilderment and objection of the Ukrainian mob. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

All of Barshan’s Bratva Blood Brothers play secondary and supporting characters. The Ukrainian and Russian mobsters must work together to solve the mystery that is Russell Jerome, a mystery that could affect the history of the Russian families.

BARSHAN takes liberty with some of the history of the Russian Imperial Romanov family- a history fictionalized and fantasized by many authors and historians throughout the years.

BARSHAN is a quick read; an edgy, insta-lust/love romance between two people thrown together by betrayal and vengeance, greed and power. The premise is thrilling; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance is provocative and tender.

On the down side, BARSHAN does require another round of editing in that there are missing words, and several errors that should have been caught before publication. And, as this is the re-release, there is no excuse for the publication of a book without a second attempt at proof-reading.

Amazing CHEMISTRY brings them together, will the intrigue, non-stop action, and suspense keep them apart?
I absolutely love this series and think that “BARSHAN” is now my favorite book so far. You can read the blurb to get a better idea of this marvelously unique Bratva/Russian Mafia Romance. In all the books I have read, author KJ Dahlen’s shows this marvelous ability to use words to create characters, though flawed, that the reader is compelled to care about and root for despite, or perhaps because of the dire circumstances of their young lives, and the choices they had to make to survive. Because of this woven web of brotherhood, this “BARSHAN”, the third novel in the series, allows the reader to gain an in-depth look into the life of Barshan the man, and the focus of this third the novel. And because most readers have read the first two novels in the series (although this is not a requirement as they are stand-alone novels and can be read in any order) they have already met Barshan and learned a bit about him. The novel is compelling, I could not put it down. The characters are rich, well-developed, and the changes that they go through when romance and then love are introduced and cherished is well worth the cost of the opportunity. While I received an ARC copy of “BARSHAN” to prepare this honest, voluntary review, I plan to purchase a copy of my own to support this WONDERFUL author and what is one of my favorite series of this year. So, get that glass of wine. Sit in your favorite chair and take a break while you read the HIGHLY RECOMMENDED “BARSHAN”. Happy pages! 😉

All Show👔 and No Go Make Barshan🐺🔪🔫 A Dull Boy

Alpha Male Russian Mafia🐺🔪🔫 Adult Romance💕 and Murder Mystery.

Book three is about Barshan🐺🔪🔫, one of the orphan men from Russia, who became mobsters in New Orleans. An included prequel describes how the men found each other as orphan youngsters in Russia.

When Barshan🐺🔪🔫 is duped by a shyster that borrows from him by providing false collateral in a jewelry store, he meets Talli💃💔, the true owner, and only surviving heir.

The shyster is Jerome👹, and he caused Talli's mothers death. Then he ransacked the home. He is looking for something, and will stop at nothing to find it.

The book📑 follows Barshan's investigation and pursuit of Jerome👹 and discovering his motives. Along the way he becomes the lover and protector of Talli💃💔.

Some of the dialogue between Barshan🐺🔪🔫 and Talli💃💋 is so hokey, it had me laughing. The bedroom scene was well written and sexy, then Talli💃💋 opens her mouth and ruins it. It's a fun, quick read, and will keep you turning the pages!

ARC Received for a Voluntary and Honest Review.
I also got The book📑 with KU.

The book📑 needed another proofreading and editing for omitted words and errors before publishing. There were quite a few in the published version.

The redeeming factor of this book📑, is that that there are four additional previously published 📚books included. There are many hours of 📚 reading pleasure for fans of this author.

Another one of the blood brothers claims the one, this time it’s Barshan and the woman who is a fiesty and strong, Talli. They meet under not so great circumstances but band together when her life is in jeopardy but this it’s not only the Bratva who want to protect her, the Ukraine mob as well. The two forces unite for one objective, find the man who cheated both groups and who wants Talli for a reason that no one can understand, even herself. As the threats become more dangerous, the two grow closer, but the man after Talli becomes even more unhinged...can she survive ?
A great great read that’s fast paced with suspense, a mystery, some twists when a secret is revealed and steam when Barshan and Talli get together. What I love about these reads is there are no games being played between them, they say what they mean and do what they say. They stick together and don’t beat around the bush with their emotions or feelings for one another....so so so so refreshing. The story centres on revealing what is being sought for, the danger and mystery of what the secret may be. There is no mistake when Barshan “claims” Talli, they don’t fight it, deny it or ignore it...loved it ! Only thing missing for me is an epilogue...and that’s the only thing.
These men of blood brothers are yummy and all alpha...can’t wait for the others !!

Who ever thought that two rival mafias could put aside their issues to work together? Barshan is a business owner and a member of the Russian Bratva who loaned money to Russell Jerome with the agreement to take over the Janick Jewelry Store, Christophe’s, in the event the loan was unable to be repaid. When Russell arrives at Barshan’s office, he signs over the papers and offers Barshan half of the jewelry store. The problem is that Russell never owned any piece of the store and played Barshan. To make matters worse, Russell also made the same arrangement with a member of the Ukrainian mob. Talli is the daughter/owner of the jewelry store as both of her parents have passed away due to some suspicious circumstances. When Barshan and his counterpart from the Ukrainian mob enter the store, Talli explains that the men have been conned and to leave her alone. Unfortunately, there are threats made against Talli and she needs protection. Barshan steps in and swears to protect her. Talli feels drawn to Barshan and the two of them begin a romance. Will Barshan be able to keep Talli safe? Can Talli help solve the mystery that could possibly bring about a return of the Russian Monarchy? This is one story filled with drama, betrayal and what can happen when one becomes power hungry.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.

This was my first read in this series by K. J. Dahlen and it will not be the last. Book three is about Barshan ,one of the orphan men from Russia who is a mafia in New Orleans. Barshan and Talli meet after Barshan visits a successful jewelry store that he gets half ownership of since a loan could not get paid so now Barshan has half ownership. When he gets there, he finds a man from the Ukrainian mob also trying to claim ownership of the jewelry store. Both men have been scammed and the true owner who is Talli is left this mess to try and figure out what the truth is. Problem is, Talli’s life is now in danger and she doesn’t know who to trust. Barshan finds Talli enchanting and seductive. He wants to protect her and save her-which is hard because Talli is Queen of Independence and doesn’t rely on anyone, due to things that have happened to her in the past. Will Barshan be able to save Talli and get the bad guy or will the bad guy get what they were after all along? I loved the alpha-ness that is Barshan and the sassiness that is Talli. I cant wait to read the next book in this series.

My Rating: 4.5 stars *****

Brashan gets a deed to a jewelry shop and when he goes to see it he finds Ivan with Ukraine Mob there with the same paper. Talli caught in the middle tells them that what they had was lie. After he looks into he goes back there and finds her knocked out and some of her stuff is missing. When they call Ivan things start to become who is behind it and that the two faction have to work together to find out what he wants and why he wants it. As Tallinn starts to remember certain things from her past and start to uncover the truth about who she really is. When she gets taken the truth of what Jerome wants things become tense and more complicated. Will they be able to save her before its too late? Will she be able to open her heart up to him? Will the uncover the truth of the past that's decades old? Another amazing read that give you a little bit of Russian history about Tzar Nickolas and his family and more. I was pulled right in a was blown away and the more I read the more I wanted. It has so much everything you will feel it all and want more. Can't wait for the next

This is the third book in the Bratva Blood Brothers series by K.J. Dahlen. Barshan Stanikoff grew up on the streets of Moscow alone until he met Yuri, Mikial, Sazon, and Roman. The five of them became brothers and they looked out for one another which made them stronger. They’ve come a long way from living on the streets, they are now respected businessman in New Orleans. Barshan lent $250,000 to a man named Russell Jerome who didn’t have the cash to pay him back so he gave him half interest in Christophe’s, a very successful jewelry store. Russell was married to Claudette Janick and he says when she died a few weeks ago he got her interest in the store and her daughter, Talli owns the other half. When Barshan goes to the store to meet his new partner he finds out he’s been scammed and so has Ivan Barcoff, a leader in the Ukrainian mob. Talli lost her beloved father ten years ago when he was murdered and it’s still gone unsolved. She wasn’t happy when her mom announced she was marrying Russell because Talli didn’t like him from the moment she met him. Talli explains to Ivan and Barshan that her mom’s half interest goes to her when she died not her husband. Her father set it up that way so that no matter if Talli or her mom got married neither of their husbands would be entitled to the store. I am really enjoying this series but it is very repetitive and sometimes it gets quite annoying.

This is the story of Barshan and Talli. The two meet after Barshan visits a successful jewelry store that he supposedly gets half ownership of since a loan could not be paid. There he finds a man from the Ukrainian mob also claiming half ownership. They have been scammed & the true owner, Talli is left to sort it all out. Barshan becomes very protective of her once he discovers her life is in danger. Talli is very independent & doesn’t trust easily so she puts up a fight at first. I don’t blame her since her father was murdered & her mother’s death was highly suspicious.
Though this was an interesting story, I didn’t get into it as much as the previous two stories. I didn’t find myself connecting to either Barshan or Tally. Despite that, I still enjoyed the read and look forward to the next in the series.

I truly enjoy this series. While this is book 3 there is no need to read the first two before picking it this book. I am thankful that at the start she gives you the prologue of how these 5 men became brothers.
This again is a story of instant attraction but one that grows over time to be something much more.
Kj Dahlen again gives the reader a strong alpha male but an equally strong female character.
Barshan is the money man for the Bratva and while he appreciates his two brothers finding their soulmates, he is not looking for his. Then he meets Talli. She is trying to be strong as her world crashes around her and for some reason bring close to Barshan makes her feel safe. As these two try to figure out what Talli's mom's husband is trying to find and why he wants to kill her.
I was given this book for an honest voluntary review.

Stiff and stilted

There might be a story here--and I stayed with the book way too long--but its lost under the very stilted and elementary writing style. The lengthy prologue seems to have been written by a different hand and has a number of problems (not the least of which is misuse of or using gobbledgook as Russian) and the timeline is significantly off (if she's 24 now she was only 14 when her dad died...not old enough to have the business and design experience Dahlen claims; and that makes Barshan, 12ish in '83, late 40s in the present time. I have no problem with May-December romances, but it doesn't feel like that is the intent here. The heroine waffles from strong and independent to fragile and small; she spends way too much time in the past. There's a number of issues distracting me from the story, and it's just not coming together.

“Barshan” is the third book in the Bratva Blood Brothers series. They are all stand-alone novels but if you don't read the first two you'll be missing out on some incredibly entertaining stories. This book centers around Barshan one of the five brothers and Talli a self sufficient, strong willed, beautiful jewelry designer and businesswoman. Upon meeting there is an intense chemistry between the two which soon develops into much more. “Barshan” has all the elements of a great story, drama, intrigue, mystery, action, suspense, murder unrestrained passion and undying love. This story is a must read that I definitely recommend.

This is the 3rd book in the Bratva Blood Brothers series and they are getting better and better as each new story comes out. I’m not going to give any spoilers so read K.J. Dahlen’s blurb and that will give you the gist to this story. This story is about Barshan and Talli, I love this series I wasn’t into mafia/ mob type of stories but K.J. has changed my mind about them. There’s plenty of action, intrigue, mystery and some sizzling hot scenes so much to keep you turning the pages. It’s a fantastic series and I can’t recommend it strongly enough and I can’t wait for the next book. Great plot and fantastic characters and the characters from the first two books are in this one as well. I highly recommend this book it’s well worth the read and it’s definitely worth more than 5 ⭐️.

Barshan and Talli's story was so good, and there is so much I could say, but it I find it hard to put it into words without giving away some great page turning romance and suspense for the reader. The detailed suspense, drama, and romance, will make the reader fall in love with Barshan and Talli's story from the very first meeting of the two. With so many tiny details, and with the chemistry between Barshan and Talli it gives the reader that aha moment. I could not put it down and read it straight through to their HEA. As each story in the series is a standalone, "Barshan" is one for readers that loves their romance with some drama and suspense! I won an ARC of "Barshan". My review is my own. This is mine. 5 Stars!

Another good Bratva love story. Barshan is the third of the brothers-by-choice to find love. While they're standalones, there’ll be spoilers if you read them out of order. Talli owns a jewellery store and comes into contact with the Ukrainian & Russian mob, who decide to work together to help solve a mystery. Like the books before, this one has a mystery to be solved, with the answers greater than what you expect, and a dangerous situation for the h. It's a bit light on the romance, as the action begins almost immediately. You can catch up on the other couples, and characters revealed in previous books.

I received an arc of this book and have voluntarily reviewed it.

Talli is determined to carry on her family legacy after the death of her parents. Barshan thought that he had a chance at another legal business, until he realizes the truth. Someone is out to ruin them, but will he be found before its to late? Will Talli give herself a chance to fall in love with Barshan regardless of his occupation?

Was excited to get another Bratva Blood Brothers book and wasn't disappointed. Barshan was an alpha man, willing to do anything for the woman he fell for. Loved how despite everything going on, Talli had a lot of strength. Great read and cannot wait for the next book in the series!

This was book #3 in the Bratva Blood Brothers Series and is a standalone. Barshan is a member of the mob and one tough cookie. The Brata's are a team of five boys who met as teens in Russia and have become 'brothers'. They're the basis for the Russian mob based in New Orleans. He meets Talli when he becomes part owner of her jewelry store after being duped by a fraudster. Their attraction is over the top. Filled with suspense an drama, murder, betrayal and no shortage of danger. This was an action packed book that was fun to read. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.

Totally awesome!

I dont think i could do this book an ounce of justice with my review. Each book in the series have blown me away. I think Barshan's book was haf abgreat plot and characters. It sucked me in and held me captive. It still had a bit of a heat factor but i think there was so much more mystery and suspense envolved. I wont spill the secrets that come out in this one. Just know you wont regret reading this book. I absolutely loved it. I used Kindle Unlimited to read this book.

Talli and Barshan meet when he shows up to her jewelers shop with documents saying that he owns half of her business. Well, he along with Ivan are in for a surprise as the shop can not be sold or transferred. Now Ivan and Barshan are un the hunt for the man that stole from them. We join the gang as they try to protect Talli from a dangerous man that wants her dead. Barshan has finally met the woman of his dreams and he will do anything to keep her safe. I enjoyed this book just as much as the other two in this series.
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
