Lewd Kingdoms #1

Shadow's Edge

Rate this book
Thomas always enjoyed kingdom/city simulation games. When he discovers there is a kingdom building expansion to the hugely popular VRMMORPG Lewd Saga, he is determined to join the sensual fantasy game and build his destiny.

Thomas becomes Edric Temple, summoner and adventurer, searching for others to help build a kingdom while a war rages across all of Lukken.

The player slowly realizes Lewd Saga is more than just a fantasy game. Dark plots, torn hearts and medieval politics will place the young summoner in the eye of the storm between guilds, troll masters and what his heart truly desires.

Can Edric keep his new friends and fledgling kingdom together as the forces of darkness threaten to destroy everything they created?

Lewd Saga is a Virtual MMORPG, based in the fantasy world of Lukken, home of dragon royalty, human kingdoms and troll masters. Players quest, grow their abilities, join in great battles and find love and lust in whatever form they desire. There is no taboo too great or too intimate.

Warning: The tale you are about to read is a story of sexual creatures, human or otherwise. This tale is for adults 18 and up.

So I was ok with this book at first, but as it got further and further you start to realize a few things.

The main character is weak, and there is no progression of him getting stronger. They are in an MMO RPG but you never see him fight anything. There are one or two battles but if he is so weak and is trying to lead a city you figure he would train at some point?

The main character isn't that smart, he talks big but any gamer would see the potential threats around him. However, he is constantly surprised every time something happens. The author isn't very subtle with the foreshadowing either, so your expecting every surprise long before it comes.

Then, the antagonist is good, but why does the author keep bringing real life threats into this? He is causing people to kill themselves? He can find anyone around the country and get people to harass them wherever they are? It makes me cringe every time I hear it.

Lastly, the biggest trajedy is that, honestly the story was good and all the other characters were great. The Arthur just either over did it or go lazy during some story aspects. Reading this book was like listening to your favorite song, then the record skips every 30 seconds. You really get into it, then cringe, get back into it, cringe!

I couldn’t finish this book. The elements are all there, but the execution is lacking. The characters aren’t interesting or compelling, and the building aspect—which I would find interesting, is ultimately lifeless. The sex happens with too much frequency.

But honestly? The book is too serious. This doesn’t read like the characters are in a game. The occasional mention of “digital body” or a reading of the character sheet aside, these aren’t game players. They don’t talk like gamers, act like gamers, they don’t log out, they sleep in game as though they were really in this world. They talk about war and battles as shell-shocked survivors who’ve Seen Things and not players playing a game.

Such a great story ruined by a weak character. Edrick Temple? powerful name but a pathetic character. Even the dumbest newbie know to level up and gain power but Edric is such a weak character that he lost every fight he was in or needed rescuing. I got tired of hearing him say he's powerless. The writer also neglected to mention how the game emersion works and technical details were missing.

Badly thought out, needs more research done into every aspect of the story.

The whole book is pretty bad, this is the first Eden Redd book I've read and was hoping I'd found a new collection of books to devour. Unfortunately it is too bad to read another. The general idea is a good one, but fails in every possible way once you get past the overall story outline.

Don't believe the 5 star reviews I can't see how these can possibly be truthful and honest reviews.

Wonderfully erotic with an incredible story!!!

First things first, I want everyone to know that I put off reading SJ10 by MSE so that I could indulge in this beauty and let me tell you it was worth it!!! Anyone that has had an opportunity to read Star Justice knows how HUGE this is!!!!
Lewd Kingdom: Shadow’s Edge is the beginning of another incredible trilogy for the Lewd universe! This book started out with a bang and hooks you from the get go!!! The story IMO is one of the very best, if not the very best, that this author has written!
I will be highly anticipating the next installment to this series. Do yourselves a huge favor and purchase this incredible book already!

The title is misleading. This is High Quality and well written
when I hear the word lewd, I think lowbrow, Crass, and juvenile bordering on the grotesque.
I was expecting very little from this book but gave it a try with a sigh of weary resignation.
What a surprise. This book is well written, intelligently plotted out with grown up characters. There is a, dare I say, sophistication to this book that I was not expecting.
Well done Eden Redd, I'll be looking for your other books as well as the rest of this series.

Yes there are steamy sex scenes, this is not a book about sex.

Not great...but not terrible. It grew on me the further I went. Despite 3 stars I will give book two a shot.

The author REALLY needs to stop referring to the protagonist in three different ways though. It's tiresome to parse the summoner, the player and Eldric constantly sometimes in consecutive sentences.

Good book

What I of loved most about this book is the characters are never shown outside the game. No logging in and out , no going through normal life just pure adventure. That gave it a great anime feel to it. I want more like this!

Good Read.

A city building story with adult situations. Good fantasy story. The adult actions are at a valid time and not just inserted for the sake of it. Interesting game mechanics with stat increases with social action (normal and adult).

DNF, I'm not into sharing/swapping stories and the rest of the 'story' wasn't enough to make up for that.

I fully support the author's artistic license to write whatever they want. However, I highly doubt I will purchase anything from Eden Redd again.

Quick read

First series I have read by this author, liked that it was finished up in three books and will have to look for more by this author. A few editing errors here and there kept it from getting five stars.

Hot & Deadly - the Type of Girls A Well Intentioned Needs To Save The World!

I like this, starts out naive & predictable but turns violent & sexual pretty quick. Moves the plot right along lol.

A most excellent adventure.

Even without the naughty boys the story holds well. Given that Eden Redd wrote it,it has naughty bits. A great beginning to the next story in her world.

Nope.
I tried. But this is beyond me.

Wayy too much wish-fulfilment, not enough plausible story.

Pass.

DNF 80% 2 stars at the most, not a good book. This book falls as a good RPG and male erotic so not much else to say as that is the point of the whole book.
