What happens when a sheltered old woman teams up with a snarky street girl she hardly knows? More than either of them expected.
It's 2335 and for two hundred years society has been divided into the EC, a small and dwindling minority that keeps ties to the old world, and the Nel'gathi, whose lives of violence, action, and poverty lie just outside the doors of the EC. Spending all her life among the EC, Miss Plummer knows little of how rapidly things are changing and she is in for a rude awakening when she begins to learn that the EC are the ones she can’t trust, not the Nel'gathi. The world is not what it once was and Miss Plummer isn’t equipped to keep up with it, which makes her drift into a number of silly adventures. Consuela, the hard-nosed, sharp-tongued Nel'gathi hair-stylist she invites to join her on a disaster relief effort, is honest, hard-working, and quite willing to be friends. But the EC are another story altogether.
When Miss Plummer goes to stay with a long-absent friend and his family of spoiled daughters, she soon finds herself in an absurd loop of treachery and deceit. It will be up to her unexpected new ally, Consuela, to pull her out of it.
Sarah Scheele began writing before she could hold a pen and was telling stories before she could talk. An avid reader, she's always enjoyed classics as well as fantasy and movies. She lives surrounded by cultivated fields that rapidly give way to wild flowers, wild plants, and wild life and can always be found scribbling away at a new project. Or exercising her beloved, blind Pomeranian, although Pom prefers to vegetate indoors.
