The simple, untold truth about anxiety and depression is that they are habits of insecurity―and, like all habits, they can be broken. In this new edition of the highly successful Self-Coaching , Dr. Joseph Luciani shows you how to change your way of thinking and develop a healthy, adaptive way of living through his proven Self-Talk strategy for coaching yourself back to health.
Dr. Joe has been a practicing clinical psychologist for more than forty years. He's the internationally best-selling author of the Self-Coaching series of books, published in ten languages. He's written articles and been featured in numerous national magazines and newspapers, including O, The Oprah Magazine, Redbook, USA Today, Fitness, Health, Shape, and Body and Soul. He appears frequently on national TV, radio, and the Internet.
While this is primarily for those who have major issues with anxiety and depression, I enjoyed the way the author broke down issues that people have every day, particularly handling momentary anxiety, or momentary withdrawal. The self-coaching is a behaviour therapy, a way of stepping back and looking at unfolding events without negatively distorting them through our own neuroses.
This is the book my counselor asked me to read to help with my anxiety. This is the only self help book I've ever read in my life, so I'll be interested to see if the strategy in this book works for me.
I bought this several years ago and decided to read in anticipation of the New Year. I think I was in a different place when I purchased it, and it would have worked better for that me. I think it had several good ideas and exercises but I just did not feel connected to the material.
This book was great The author done more than enough to fill you in on your steps to beat anxiety and depression! If you have ether I highly recommend this book It will fill you in with all the tips
Just okay. Some great advice but not one I would base my life on. Kind of a name dropper. Overall useful things if you just need a little motivational help.
