Rosie sees dead people. Everywhere. Between the whole talking to ghosts thing and being a people hating recluse, Rosie’s not exactly enthused when she finds herself falling for Max, the sexy farmer that lives next door. She already has enough problems without adding relationship drama. But when a terrifying vision knocks her off her feet, she needs a safe place to regroup and finds Max stuck to her like glue and steady as a rock. Suddenly, Max is at the center of the fragile life she’s built, but he has no idea what a freak she is and he definitely doesn’t know that Rosie isn’t her real name. If he finds out about her dark past, she stands to lose everything – the tiny slice of life she’s created for herself, her carefully manufactured identity, and the soft heart she keeps under lock and key. Max Murphy doesn't really have time to get sidetracked by the mysterious Rosie, whose quiet eyes mesmerize him from the get-go. But, there's no way he's not going to offer to be the refuge she so clearly needs, even if he can tell she’s hiding something. From the second they meet, he knows there's something special about her. Rosie doesn’t believe he’s in it for the long haul, but Max has a feeling that she wouldn’t know what the long haul looked like if it jumped up and bit her on that delectable ass. He’s willing to wait and show her just what forever could look like if she wanted to reach out and grab it. All he has to do is scale the walls she’s built around herself, tackle the demons that haunt her day and night, and help her solve a decades old murder. Sure. No problem. ****Chasing Happy is a Full-Length Romance Novel that's somewhere between New Adult Romance, Romantic Suspense, Paranormal Romance, and Romantic Mystery. If you like a little bit of everything - including an HEA - this one is for you! ******
The first novella was awesome and I must admit that this one dragged a little for me. It was a romance with a mystery and it ties things up from her past. But I want more. I want to read about the other people in her life. I came to love them and want them to be happy too. Dallas, Wendy, Murdoch and Toby. I hope she is going to write more stories for these people.
There is a mystery in this book but it was kind of anticlimactic when it was revealed. I understood the whys for it but it just seemed like pfft and it was over. I don't want to spoil it so I will leave it therd.
The romance was awesome. Max was a wonderful hero and he loved her so much. I did get annoyed with the h a couple of times for pushing everyone away but it all is good in the end. I love Max's dog too. That was my favorite character in the story really. Oh and Gizmo. they were fun. There is an alternate ending provided that the author almost used but I liked this one far better. This is a great book but I only gave it four stars due to the heroine being annoying, and the pfft ending on the mystery. I also want to know more about Butch. What happened to him? So hopefully she will make this a bigger series and tie up some of the unfinished issues in the book. I will be waiting.
Didn't quite enjoy it as much as book one due to more romance than backstory or psychic case solving but it was still a great read despite needing a good edit/proofread. No wonder she was so panicked about going on a fist date...
Loved it. So well written. I didn't want to put it down. The characters were well defined and the story flowed very nicely. There were a couple of grammatical errors but it did not effect the story. For a first book this author hit it out of the park. Can't wait for the next one!!!!
I loved reading this book. The characters were intricately woven, full of interesting detail. I went through a wide range of emotions, from amusement to sadness. I laughed and I cried. Happy/Rosie is absolutely facinating.
This is one of those books that I just wanted to keep reading, I didn't want to put it down until it was finished. And then I simply wanted more. I truly hope there is a sequel coming.
I volunteered to read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
**Update** So I enjoyed this book so much that I purchased the Ebook on my Kindle and read it again. Still love it! I would so much like to read a sequel. I do hope the author is planning one. Happy deserves more page time!
This is an interesting world. Mediums and psychics truly exist, as do ghosts. The rules are clear and defined, as are the characters.
While I thought the willingness of some of the characters to believe Rosie/Happy came a little too easily, it had to happen for the plot to move along. But overall, I thought everything fit together really well - the ghosts, the auras, the mystery and the love story. The ghost’s purpose was interesting; it wasn’t Justice, as you’d usually expect. It was something else, perhaps more important, if not years late; it’s about love.
I liked this story. It was unusual in weaving together all these elements and making it work (even a lampshading reference to a ghost whisperer show, which exists in this world!)
[Lampshading - look it up on tvtropes. You won’t be sorry!]
Rosie is a fragile person who has had many disappointments and traumatic events in her life. She is insecure and has been betrayed by all the men in her life and she does not want to get hurt again. She has built a wall around her broken heart. She has psychic abilities that evaporate after a haunting vision and she needs a safe place to stay. She and Max, her boss's brother are attracted to each other but neither wants to act on their feelings. He's so busy with work and doesn't really have time for a relationship. He also knows that Rosie is hiding something. No spoiler here, but this is an emotional read with an interesting plot and complex characters. I received an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review it.
I absolutely loved it! It takes on a journey and you never want it to end, yes you want answers but you still want it to keep going even after you have those answers. I love watching the growth that Rosie made. While I wish she had more closure with Butch, it seems nothing she goes through is easy. Max is the perfect guy for her, so loving, patient, and nurturing. Even with everything thrown at him he is still there for her. And her friend she didn't want, Wendy...and Dallas, this makes for a great group. Great book, I'll be looking for more by Jenni Rose. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Life has been hard for Rosie. She’s been running from her gifts her entire life. Just when she thinks she has found a place she can call home, if only for a little while, a desperate spirit begins stalking her. The love story between Rosie and Max is sweet and sexy at the same time. Friends Dillon and Wendy drove me up the wall at times. Without knowing Rosie’s problems they, and Max, stumble around making it worse. It all works out in the end, and the love between Max and Rosie is amazing.
I enjoyed this book. I had problems at the beginning with formatting errors, but that’s probably because it was an ARC. There were also some spelling and grammatical problems.
A full length novel that I enjoyed very much. A little something in here for anyone and everyone, (mystery, romance, love story, thrill ride and extra doses of suspense combined with a talented author. Who could want more, except maybe more of Rosie and Max (like maybe...a series of books). Beautiful story. My rating 4.75 stars.
I don't leave synopsis of a book, as the author's blurb does a much better job than I ever could, nor do I don’t leave spoilers as I feel this does an injustice to subsequent readers. I am leaving an honest review voluntarily.
This is the first book I have read from this author and it was amazing. Happy/Rosie had an awful childhood with her drug addicted mother and the boyfriends that would abuse her. She also had a gift of seeing the dead and auras which made her different and people tended not to believe her when she told people what she saw. This all changed when she finally let people into her life and fell in love. Very heartwarming story of friendship and love and that where you come from doesn't determine your future. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
I'm not sure what i think about psychic books in general, but I really enjoyed this book, which was a psychic romance, This book was well written and gripping, it was hard to put the book down, I don't really want to say much more as I don't want to ruin your read of the book. I would definitely recommend this book when you have a weekend free to read it, Its plot is brilliant and although a stand alone read, this could so easily be the start of a good series..
This was a 4.5 for me and honestly I normally do not read PNRs so this book was definitely good. There are enough reviews that go over the storyline so I won't repeat. The story had a few twists in it which kept it interesting although the final bombshell was a bit odd. It was unexpected but seemed like it was quickly revealed and then the book was over. Is this the start of a series or was it a standalone that just feels like the ended should have been expanded or an epilogue added?
First time I’ve started a book without doing any background research and I’m so glad I took a chance.
The book leans a bit more towards paranormal than romance but the story was so interesting I didn’t really care. There is an H &h and it does focus on their relationship but this is more Rosie/Happy’s story than her and Max.
I originally read this on wattpad 1000 yeara ago. I went back to see if it was still there and learned that it was published! This was an amazing book that still holds up now. I don't know if Toby has a story also but I'll keep reading this author.
Another amazing book. I was blown away with the story, I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong characters. I want more.....I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Even if you don't believe you will still love this book. Because there is more to it and sooo many layers That no matter what your preferences are in books you will still like it.🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Rosie (Happy) has been on the run for over 7 years; her mother had her committed when she was 16 because Happy was hearing voices. Now she is being haunted by a murder victim.
I was so absorbed in this book that I finished it in one sitting! I am very picky about the type of paranormal books that I read because I quite often find them too far fetched or struggle to get into them. But this book caught my attention straight away, there is definitely something in here for everyone. I would recommend that anyone thinking about it at least gives it a preview and you won't regret it!
