Imagine what would happen if the Earth rose up to lash out over the abuses it had suffered. If the spirit of an endangered species gathered a force to seek revenge upon humankind, what havoc might ensue? This book makes that vision of upheaval come to life. Ted Masters, a state policeman, and Sarah English, an official from the newly formed Department of Environmental Control, are thrown together and tasked with trying to solve this deadly phenomenon. As the body count rises all the resources of the state and federal government appear to be overmatched in a battle against this monster. Where does it come from? Where does it go when it’s not ravaging the citizens of the small town of Orenda? Is there any way to stop a creature that is beyond the scope of natural law?
Interesting idea, even though I'd read something similar in a novel I read years ago having pretty much the same premise. Even so, good idea, but the characters didn't thrill me. I couldn't connect to any of them. Poor formatting and overuse of dialogue tags really soured me on the deal. I managed to finish the--in my opinion, overlong--book, but I wouldn't classify it as a keeper. Other readers may disagree.
