Even though The Wrecking Crew has agreed to invest in Sophia’s company, Brad seems to have taken a special interest in Sophia, but she can’t figure out what his game is. One minute he will be ruthless and do everything in his power to make sure she fails, often wrecking meetings and making her look like a fool in front of the other investors. But then he will turn around and be sweet and even charming. Sophia finds him sexy and she can’t help that his handsome face keeps invading her thoughts; all the while she loathes the horrible things he does. Will she be able to uncover the truth about who Brad Thorpe really is? Will she be able to figure him out? Or will she give in to defeat? Sophia is about to make the Power Play of her life…

AUTHOR’S This is a stand-alone story with an HEA, so no cliff-hangers! This story contains explicit love scenes and is intended for 18+ readers only.
SOOOO I absolutely hate this book. This is another one of those if I could give it no stars or negative stars I ABSOLUTELY would. When I read the synopsis I was like ohhh sounds like an enemy to lovers which I am so here for. BUT THAT IS NOT AT ALL WHAT THIS BOOK IS. Sophie works as a designer of plus-sized clothing when she pitches to an investment team called The Wrecking Crew (BIG EYEROLL) she meets Brad. Who starts off as an ass and... well ends as a freaking disgusting dirtbag who should be in jail.
We begin his ass like tendencies when he asks Sophia in the middle of a pitch meeting if she was fat and that's why she makes plus size clothing.
Then he sends her flowers and a note.
Then he questions her on a graph not being fixed even though it was being done by someone else.
Then he brings Sophia her coat when she forgets it (which makes her swoon).
Then someone breaks into Sophia's apartment.
Then Brad asks her out on a date by giving her more flowers and a necklace.
Then he calls her in and tells her the investors are pulling out.
Then he offers her the investment from him only which she rips up in his face.
Then he breaks into her apartment and hands her a new contract with all the investors' signatures??? And then he has sex with her and is gone the next morning.
At this point I hate Brad. He's rude and there is nothing redeeming about him as a person. And honestly that's where I thought it was bad, but it was nothing compared to what comes next. Brad has been MIA for a hot minute and it's making Sophia angry (like why girl HE IS TRASH). But she gets an email with a video from Brad. HE FILMED THEM HAVING SEX WITHOUT HER CONSENT AND IS NOW USING IT TO MAKE HER DO SEXUAL THINGS. I am FILLED with rage. Not only is this not remotely attractive but it happens to so many women and it is disgusting. At this point, I am just RAGE reading. ALSO SOPHIA SERIOUSLY IT'S NOT HOT IT'S ILLEGAL! GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE.
Sorry at this point I haven't even finished the book but I had to get my thoughts out. So I'm gonna review as I go. Hopefully, this won't be too long.
Sophia has just tricked Brad handcuffed him and was able to erase the video. But like still CALL the police and have him arrested... He's also gotten her arrested on drug charges which he planted (they're fake) but still. This seems like the start of a horror movie, not a romance... And she's being evicted because of being arrested for (fake) drug charges. And now they're moving in together...
That was the end. She just got back from being locked up for the night, to him showing up outside with a u-haul truck and asking her to move in. I mean he caused this and then used that to his advantage. Basically, this entire book was 'man doesn't know how to have feelings or talk to a woman he's interested in and forces her hand in every interaction they have'. That's it. That's the entire novella.
FINAL THOUGHTS: AWFUL. So bad and not even worth the time. It's not even remotely sexy or steamy. The love interest is disgusting and 100% not a man I would want anywhere near me or in my life. Save your time and read something better!!

The premise of the story was excellent, just developed in a rushed way that didn't work out that well. If this had more pages (i.e. more depth) and a great editor, I think it would have made a fantastic book.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book and I am leaving my voluntary review.
Trying to make it in the business world is no easy feat. Sophia is learning this a little more today. She is presenting herself in hopes of a business deal with The Wrecking Crew. There is one gentleman on the panel that makes her blood boil. She gets herself through the presentation to be told they will have an answer for her in 48 hours. It was a bit disheartening to hear that, but it is okay, this is business after all. This jerk that causes her to be frazzled and insecure, Brad, just picks at her until she is about ready to break during this presentation. But it is over and she just has to sit back and wait.
Shrewd, narcissistic, sexy and smooth. Just a few words anyone, including Sophia, that describe Brad. He rather enjoys tormenting her. So the games begin. He knows what he wants and he isn't afraid to get it, by any means possible. He torments Sophia endlessly, and then sends her surprises. He loves this, he is good at this, and he just met the one person who he didn't think had the guts to stand up to him.
Sophia has had enough of the boring, way too early for everything meetings with The Wrecking Crew, but since being accepted this is her life. Brad continues to pick away at Sophia. Finally she has decided she is done with it all. This is not the case, things are happening to her, things that should not be. Apartment broken into, gifts, things said to her which tell her that it is Brad all along, like his quoting a line out of a book she had by her bed. Finally over this, she arrives home, he is in her apartment sitting and helping himself to her bourbon. She rants at him, and they end up making up for a lot of things together. When she wakes up of course he is gone.
No calls, no texts for a few days. She discusses this with her best friend over lunch. A surprise call comes from Brad about a meeting. One that she needs to be at, so she goes. Only this is not an actual meeting, Brad tells her something hurtful, and she leaves. Only he isn't about to let her go. No he shares the tidbit that he is just starting to have fun with her. Sophia also gets a text with an attachment from Brad. Things are not right with him at all. After seeing this she decides she is completely done with this, only to be drawn back in from him.
Sophia devises a plan with her best friend, and it plays out just like they planned it. The girls are able to get what they go after, only to find out Brad has gotten away from them. Another surprise for Sophia happens, and this time it is a bigger one, she is asked to leave her apartment. Brad shows up just as she starts to panic, and he plays hero to her, and she is all for it. The beginning of these crazy people's happy ever after.
I received this book thinking it was a very long novel or maybe a boxed series. But as I read it it turns out it was just a novella. With a lot of other titles as ‘bonus content’. Not only did that throw me off, it upset me as well. There were also misspelled words and words missing. The sex scenes as far and in between as they were, were hot. But I didn’t connect with the characters. I couldn’t place myself in their shoes or their lives. Which is what I like to do as a reader.
The main reason for my higher rating was due to the book being free. It is not the type of book I would have paid for. I think the author had moments her writing intrigued me but overall her style needs work. The couple needed extreme growth and character depth. Sex games are fun but I need more build up. We get to see Sophia's pov but not Brad's. In fact, we see Brad more or less as Sophia sees him and because there isn't much detailing why he is the way he is I found it hard to really like and identify with him.
There needs to be more substance to a character other than she thought her workout gear flattered her and made the men heads turn showing off her assets. What color was it? What color was her hair, eyes? These minimal details help a reader want to know more about the character because maybe she is awkward or frizzy hair that ,I , as a reader may relate too. Without these little touches I felt like the story bounced around.
One minute Sophia is in her apartment noticing a bobby pin on the floor and Brad had escaped the next she's released from a jail cell. When going back home she's evicted and as she's crying trying to figure out her next move Brad makes a major move to confess his feelings. The whole book read more like a Sophia did this and did that more so than drawing me in and allowing me to slide into Sophia's place.
Great stories do that but there were these moments that the authors choice of wording and phrases seemed refreshing and a unique take. It wasn't in her aproach to convincing me the couple were in love or would last but in some of the wording she chose.
