5.0. Redeemer takes all the things that were great about the previous books (a strong heroine, great supporting characters, action, drama, suspense, and humor) and multiplies them tenfold to create the perfect series conclusion.
Plot: Allie searches for the last pieces of Gud Morder and prepares for her final showdown with Nott. But when her team suffers some serious setbacks, she begins to doubt herself and the future she’d hoped to have with Tore.
Characters: I love Allie as a heroine. She’s smart, determined, thoughtful, and kind. She wants everyone to be happy and is willing to sacrifice her own happiness to ensure they are. One of my favorite things about Allie is how she thinks through things logically rather than acting on impulse. That’s especially true in this book.
Throughout the series, we’ve gotten to know more about each of Allie’s protectors. Redeemer gives us the closest look yet at Tore and his childhood. As a result, we see how vulnerable he really is and how he and Allie really balance each other out.
Side note: While all the characters in Redeemer are awesome, special credit goes to Scarlet. The perfect combination of fierce and funny, she steals every scene she appears in.
Writing: Bende and Stone have built an incredible world, and their descriptions make it so easy to visualize. They also have a knack for making you feel what the characters are feeling. And since there are some incredibly sad scenes, there are a lot of feels to be had.
In terms of content, there is a little bit of cursing (mainly in Swedish) and a ton of violence. There is also a lot of sexual tension, so if the book were a movie, I’d probably rate it PG-13.
Bottom Line: Redeemer is kind of a paradox. With so much at stake for all the characters, you really want to find out how it ends; at the same time, you don’t want to finish. I guess if it’s true that all good things must come to an end, Redeemer does it in the best way possible … answering every possible question you might have and giving you a good feeling about the future.
I made it 80% of the way thru the book, and realized I was just no longer invested. interestingly when I started reading it, it felt like the story line changed some. I just remember things differently, so I think it effected my enjoyment.
An Outstanding Ending To This Series!!🙏💘🔥💥 A 4.5 Star Read 🌟 (Read using Kindle Unlimited) Redeemer (Night War Saga #3)
Allie, Tore & co grow to include Astrid & her warriors on their future Gud Morder missions! Johann is smitten with her.😍 Mack is equally, if not more so, taken with Lela.😍 Bodie & Greta are already loved up after his capture by Nott so they all have evermore to fight for!!💘
After the utter shock of discovering his Mum alive but without her memories of her life with her Husband & son, Tore is is roiling in emotions. He's overjoyed she's alive but devastated she can't remember him or herself, he's also furious he's missed out on so many years with her. He goes to confront Father to discover what he knows!!😲 This could be extremely explosive!😳💥
There is sacrifice, loss & heartbreak as well as redemption, lightness & joy!!💔💜 Allie is full of the maturity I'd been hoping for throughout this book.🙏 She completely steps up & becomes an equal and commander with Tore. They hold each together through the darkest of times as well as during their victories!💘🎉 I thoroughly enjoyed this finale.🌟
'Redeemer' was a fantastic conclusion to the exciting Night War Saga. I've loved this adventure with Allie, Tore, and the gang. This series has brought every emotion and excitement to its readers, and this third book was no exception. The last book left us on a bit of a cliffhanger, and this one picked up right where it left off. Then the action and anticipation never seemed to stop. We're treated with everything - battles and bravery, humor and heartache, love and loss, redemption and recovery, friendship and forgiveness. Plus, I absolutely, completely loved these characters. Allie and Tore have grown so much and they are the sweetest, yet fiercest couple. Bodie, Mack, Johann, Greta, and the gang are just the friends you'd want to go to battle with. And let's not forget the twists, turns, and surprises that come our way in this book. I loved that the authors kept me on my toes, anticipating what course of action they'd take next. And ultimately, the ending was just as it should be. I have no complaints except I'm sad to leave this world. I wouldn't be opposed to a spin-off series or more adventures (hint hint) because this is such a beloved series, world, and characters.
I loved this book. It is a thrilling story full of exciting scenes, great fights, humour, loss, and amazing characters with relationships and personalities that grow in depth with each book. You are on the edge of your seat as Allie, Tore and the gang strive to find the last three prices of the Gud Morder and save Milgard from destruction. This story has parts that will make you laugh, that have you holding your breath and others that will break your heart. An excellent story in a captivating series.
When I say I was literally waiting for this last book to come out, I set the date in my calendar for it. This series is so breathtaking and intriguing that I didn’t know what to do with myself. So glad I read this series and can’t wait for more from both of these auhors😄!!
What a fantastic finale!! I'm so sad to see this book end! You have it all love, loss, fighting and redemption. Go read book one. You won't be disappointed!!
The Night War Series by Leia Stone and S.T. Bende is one of my favorite young adult series. It's clean and refreshing while not skimping on the danger and hardships faced by Allie and her protectors as they fight Nott, the Night Goddess.
Redeemer is the last book in this three book series which should be read in order.
The quest to find the 3 remaining pieces of Allie's weapon continues and the stakes continue to rise. With each new piece found, Nott's rage increases making the story line in this book one of the darkest in the series.
Lives are lost, truths are revealed, and roles change as this story unfolds, yet the characters still find time to goof off, laugh, have fun, and find love. I found myself alternating between laughing my butt off and crying my heart out.
Allie has a big decision to make. Does Nott need to be destroyed or can she be redeemed?
Good conclusion to a good series. I love the Norse crews that S.T. Bende thinks up and this one was no different! There were a several moments cheesiness but I was able to mostly over look them because of the awesome characters and action!
God sized adventure and teen angst with a good storyline. Fun heroine growing into an interesting new identity. Growling hot crew and a huge cast of characters.
Yet another great ending to a great series. ST Bende and Leia Stone have shown their amazing talent in this series. Both authors deserve credit individually and working together as a team. I loved this series as much as all the other series ST has released. She is a consummate writer and has added another consummate writer as well. I will certainly be checking out Leia Stone's other work as well.
What a good end to this series. I'm assuming this is the end, it did feel very final. I wish they had another chapter on the end based like a year in the future so you know where the characters are etc. But it was really brilliant otherwise. Very well written.
I loved each book in this series. This last one had so much going on that there wasn’t a dull moment. Allie and gang are so complex but real, you’ll love each of their stories. The ending is one I believe all will be thrilled with.
As the old saying goes....All good things must come to an end, even if we really really don't want them to! and this is especially true of Redeemer.
The third and final installment of the Night War Saga from Leia Stone and S.T. Bende picks up immediately from the end of book 2 brilliantly encompassing the shock discovery faced by Team Tore and setting us back onto the path to facing and defeating Nott, the Goddess of Night. A path that is so full of feelings, emotions, betrayal,a little bit of heartbreak, a whole lot of loyalty, courage, camaraderie and love, and curly wurly plot twists that keep the reader guessing right up to the last minute.
The real strength of both authors lies in their ability to create such strong god-like characters who seem to have the ability to do the impossible, yet are believable and relatable enough to have flaws and foibles any one of us mere mortals might possess as well as having to deal with very human situations such as grief, suffering, anger, regret and ultimately redemption. Coupled with an engaging plotline which traverses the paths of Light and Darkness, liberally interspersed with moments of true humour and a few "aww" moments, yet keeping us on the edge of our seats and turning pages feverishly to see if Allie is able to live up to her destiny, save her mother and defeat Nott before she causes irreparable devastation to the nine realms.
What also makes this series, and this book in particular special for me is the way in which the authors masterfully weave life lessons, pearls of wisdom, and yes, even social comment into the storyline without detracting from it in any way. I actually felt that I learned something from the sage advice and zen-like nature of Mack and Greta's gentle energies to the point that I actually felt revitalised by them at times.
The Night War Saga has been a Hel of a ride, and I enjoyed every moment of it. And even though the Valkyrie may be singing at this point to herald the bringing down of this particular curtain, I leave with one last plea....
Dear Universe, Please can we have some more adventures with Allie and Scarlett and the MackPack and Team Tore because we are not ready to leave them yet... Please, Please, We'll be your best friend! Thanks xoxoxo
It is the bittersweet end. Bende and Stone did a brilliant job with the Night War Saga series, bringing everything full circle and giving the reader a deep sense of finality. Redeemer is the best yet in the series, but I would take a gander to say that is because it has two great books before to suck you in and develop a breathtaking world and life or death situation that leaves you starving for more.
When Defender, the second in the series, ended, I was shocked, as I am sure most readers were. The sense of closure for the second book was ripped away and a whole new set of questions and problems was revealed. Lucky for us, this third installment starts right where the second ended, giving us the exact moment to jump right back in and wonder what in the world would happen next. As with the entire series, I adore Allie. Any young woman thrust into the situations she faced would be just as terrified and doubtful, yet Allie takes it in stride and allows herself to freak out and then keeps going. I loved that her emotions ring true for what someone would feel in the situation. She was not raised a warrior and her hesitancy and emotions allow the reader to better connect with her. Her humor and internal dialogue are some of my favorite parts in the series. I appreciated that Allie stayed true to herself in the end, even when it would have been much easier and understandable to take a different path.
Redeemer takes the reader on a world jumping adventure. We go to so many different places and experience so many different things. This book was fast paced and that pace sets the tone of urgency. Allie, her protectors, and the many other characters that have become vital to the story experience love, loss, and war in this book. There is so much happening and it all wraps up brilliantly. The pace, humor, and true grit of this book makes it my favorite in the series. Situations and decisions are hard and this group bands together to do whatever it takes to save the worlds they know and love. I am sad to see Allie and her protectors go, but this trilogy is complete, leaving me with a sense of satisfaction and fondness!
So Imagine you're at an amusement park. You've been wanting to go on this ride forever. You've been counting the days down.
It's finally that day. The rollercoaster of terror. As you go towards it, you start to sweat. Your hands are clammy. Your stomach starts doing somersaults. Your legs are weak. You're shaky. It's finally time for you to get on.
You climb in. You put your seatbelt on. They come through and they check to make sure that you have your seatbelt on and that it's TIGHT. You leave and you start climbing. Higher. Higher. Higher. Then the first dip. Everyone is screaming with delight. You have this huge smile on your face. You even get excited seeing your daughter's name on this roller coaster! You dip down, then up again. You're thinking that this is great. What were you worrying about in the first place? It was everything you imagined it would be.
Then you get to another spot and you find yourself climbing higher than even the first time. Now you're getting really concerned. You see that not only do you drop, but there are corkscrew turns and you're upside down. Now all of a sudden, you're not sure if you want to be on this ride. You think... what was I thinking? But you're on this ride. The only way to get off is to go to the end. You drop, you go upside down. You're crying. Sobbing. You don't think you can keep going. But you have to.
After those dips, You come to the good part and now all of a sudden, the crying and intense feelings you feel about this ride are now good feelings. But if you hadn't have gone through the really hard parts, you wouldn't value the ending as much.
You finally get off that ride. You are feeling lightweight. Weak. Euphoric even. You must sit down and think about this ride. You wonder, should I go on it again?
Redeemer is the conclusion to the Night War Saga that is co-authored by Leia Stone & S.T Bende.
Hunt down the weapon pieces, destroy the night goddess, protect Midgard (Earth). That was always the mission... When an unexpected sacrifice turns Allie’s world on its head, she discovers her true function within the Asgardian world. Her new purpose has much higher stakes — and significantly bigger dangers — than she ever could have imagined. And as the Goddess of Night unleashes an unparalleled wave of fury across the realms, Allie’s dream of a peaceful future with her favorite protector all but disappears. Nott’s determined to control Midgard. But Allie has more to fight for than ever before, and she’s determined to end the Night War... no matter what it costs her.
Redeemer picks up right were Defender ends, It takes all the things that we liked about the previous books a strong heroine, alpha male, romance, excellent secondary characters, drama, suspense, and humor to give us one epic conclusion.
I love Allie she is smart, determined, loyal, supportive and kind. She wants everyone to be happy and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that. We get more of an insight to Tore, how vulnerable he really is and how he and Allie really balance each other out. My heart broke for Tore I’m this book, the loss and heartache he experiences, was devastating, but at the end it all works out. But no matter how much this book is about Allie, Scarlet steals the limelight whenever she appears, she is fierce, loyal and funny. The perfect life partner for Allie.
Review in Dutch below the English one What an end to this series. Of course the fight against the evil Nott isn't an easy one, especially since she always seems to know where they are going next.
The stay in Trondheim and later the visit to Iceland made this book even more special to me. Both places I visited.
Both mothers from Allie and Tore have to be healed, will Allie know how? And does she win the last fight with Nott?
It isn't all easy in the book, there are some serious losses which touched me.
Great read, can't wait for a next book from St. Bende and sure I will check out some more books from Leia to see if I like those as much as this series.
I expected the third book in this series to be as good as the previous two while it wraps up all the conflicts introduced previously, the primary one being Allie and her protectors saving the realms by finding pieces of the weapon needed to defeat Nott, Norse goddess of night. BUT what I didn't expect was new obstacles nor that these new difficulties would be so heart-wrenching. There are so many feels! This book has some GREAT lessons about forgiveness, redemption, loss, hope, the importance of family...I teared up a number of times from a mixture of anxious horror/heartbreak and touching happiness/relief. As per usual, ST Bende and Leia Stone's writing is clean and fun (Allie's little prayers to the universe are super cute, ala "Dear Universe, Please send me more great books like this one. Xoxo, Laura") with quirky characters, a lot of intense action and a little flirty romance; quintessentially YA. A long but engaging whirlwind end to a fantasy series that drags your heart through the Norse realms hoping the myriad of characters each successfully find and fight their way to happiness together.
This was a very good conclusion to the Night War saga. ST and Leia did a wonderful job collaborating with these stories. Redeemer was full of action, humor, sweet moments, great written visual scenes (I could imagine them in my head as I read the story).
I loved watching Allie grow into her strong character that she was meant to be. She followed her gut and her heart, was forgiving, loyal, loving, kind, compassionate, and protective. I was cheering her on to complete her mission and was happy when things went her way.
I also loved the other characters (Tore, Bodie, Johann, Greta, Astrid, MackPack) and seeing their developments as I read. They are loyal to the very end and that makes me happy to know Allie had wonderful friends on her side. Each person in the group brought their own strength to the table, that they were each an asset when the time came.
All in all, I'm very pleased with how the story ended and I'd give it 4.5 stars!! Thank you ST and Leia for allowing me to read and review the story!
What an amazing conclusion to this superb Night War Saga! This book was my favourite so far and the most emotional. Whilst you get the conclusion to the Night War and all the pieces of the weapon to defeat the Norse Goddess of Night, Nott, the twists and turns and the obstacles put in front of Allie and her Team of Protectors are gut-wrenching and such an emotional rollarcoaster.
This is a great book of love, loss, forgiveness, redemption and most important of all hope and family. My heart broke for Tore, Allie and her protectors in this book.
I loved Allie's little prayers to the universe, they were simply brilliant and witty. 'Dear Universe, Please for the love of all that's is good in all the worlds, don't make us go to Helheim tonight. I already tracked down one of the pieces today, and a break would totally rock. For all of us. Thanks Xoxo, Allie'
I can't wait to see what comes next from St Bende and Leia Stone
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the author
I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first 2 in the series, the plot moved a little slower, the main characters are mostly likable but I'm starting to like the supporting secondary characters more than the main characters in this one. Allie is starting to really get on my nerves with her drama & self doubt, at this point in the series the self doubt shouldn't be as strong or stronger than in the first 2 books. Also, too many things seemed to just be to easily solved in this book, considering all the hardships in the first 2 books. Nott ended up not feeling like she was never really as big a threat as she was portrayed.
I haven't read the ST Bende series, The Ære Saga, that other reviewers have said this has a similar plot, so can't address that. I've only read 2 books from ST Bende, and 2 book from Leia Stone, so can't be positive, but for me, ST Bende seemed to show her writing style as more influential to this series, enough so, that I wouldn't have believed Leia Stone to have been involved if her name wasn't on the cover.
This book was cute and ok. There were just some things that surprised me and I wasn't sure I liked. Spoilers: So like when she "prays" to the universe. That to me is weird when she knows there are Gods why wouldn't she pray to them or the most powerful one for help?! Also, I was kinda of surprised with the ending with Nott I mean she killed hundreds maybe thousands of people she destroyed many lands and wanted to destroy all. So with what happened to her surprised me I'm not sure I like it. I understand it wth who Allie is but truthfully Nott she should be punished for her sins and I mean truly punished. She chose to give up so she has to deal with the consequences. Also, if this is a war why did more not die or get injured. I mean I understand wanting a happy ending but be somewhat realistic people die and get hurt in wars. It's hard t hear because you as a reader want a happy ending too but when nothing really happened I was surprised and a little disappointed. I thought something would happen to Tore and she would barely save him or something.
This is the final chapter to the night wars that have plagued the world and it certainly did not disappoint. Allie and Tore are still fighting and growing into their new roles whether they realize it or not. You have to love Allie’s Protectors, they are just so open and giving. It was nice to see Allie learn that she now has a family that loves her. Tore has come so far from his darkness and you see that other side of him. Allie seems to be his balance as he is hers, they are so good together.
This is a love story with the Norse mythology woven through it. There are dragons, elves, trolls, and all of the stuff that makes for a good adventure story of good vs. evil. It is very interesting in how the authors wove into the story what is going on in our environment. It makes the story so much more personal and relevant. The ending is one that you do not really see coming but you will love it. No spoilers, you want to be surprised.
I really enjoyed reading the authors’ takes on the Norse Mythology and adding some fictional spin to it for these books. After the first two books (and hooks), I was more than ready to see how this series finally wrapped up. There were a lot of characters & families, and much at stake in the war of the worlds. There have been some great Easter Egg clues along the way too which really helped along the journey. And even some shocking revelations in the end.
Again, I wish this story had been told in more of a NA or older demographic because I really got tired of the main characters pining for each other without any spice. And I also wish that Allie’s roommate from the beginning had become more of a ride-or-die bestie along the way (similar to many of Stone’s other series’).
All in all, it was an enjoyable series (though I’m reading it quite a bit late after it’s published date).
Allie still has three more pieces of Gud Morder to look for before she faces her final battle. After that, she has to decide whether to kill Nott or if she is worth saving. Can she also restore Ophelia's memory and give Tore his happy ending? With so many tasks awaiting in this final book, fasten your seatbelt and enjoy the ride!
I think the face-off between Allie and Nott isn't hard compared to book two. It finishes way too soon. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed Allie's journey from the first book to this last one. Allie has slowly turned into a badass warrior whilst giving me the pleasure of visiting the different realms.
The realms are beautiful, well, some of them, and it's magical. I also love the friendship form between the team, not forgetting the dragons. Reading about their challenging journey is worth the time and effort, as it will transport you to a magical realm of adventure and discovery.
I loved this series. I have read books from both authors and this series really made me happy that they decided to co-write this series. It was a happy mixture of both of their writing. I loved Allie and all her friends and protectors that became her family. This series shows a great growth in all of the main characters character as you see them all develop and become stronger. The boys with going after what they want and needing to offer more support as Allie for stronger. I love Tore. And I love Tore and Allie especially in their new roles that are so dependent on each other yet the perfect balance. Redeemer and revenge. I am very thankful that you didn’t kill off any of the main protectors as I grew very attached but still felt the loss of Ello. This series was great and this was a great book to end the series. Takk
