Badass. Kickass. Sometimes just ass. All words that define former SEAL, Archer Ford. Former because an error he made sent his friend and teammate home to his pregnant wife in a body bag. Lily Scott doesn’t know her best friend’s estranged brother. He’s always been a mystery to her. But when her best friend disappears, she has no choice but to call Archer for help. Archer can barely trust his instincts let alone his desire for the beautiful, curvy woman he finds in his brother’s bed. She assures him they’re just friends, but he doesn’t know how anyone could resist her. Archer definitely isn’t strong enough. The rest of his team shows up to help search for Archer’s brother and everyone becomes a suspect, including Lily. Trust is questioned and broken. And freedom is guaranteed to no one.

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Mary E Thompson spent most of her childhood wishing she had a few less curves. She hid in the pages of books because her favorite characters never cared what size her clothes were. Now, neither does Mary, and she writes stories that celebrate women like her. Real women who have curves, chase dreams, and find love, because we should all be happy, no matter our dress size.
Mary spends her non-writing time with her husband and two kids, watching too much TV, cheering for her hometown football team (Go Bills!), and hiding chocolate from her family.

Freedom

For a first romantic suspense book it was fantastic. I loved the characters and their personalities. What a major twist in the storyline. I didn't see that coming. Smoking hot sex scenes. This book covers all the bases. The only bad part, it ended. I wasn't ready to give up Archer and Lily.

Hmmmmm...!

Not my cuppa tea im afraid. I got to about 42% and couldn't take anymore. Can't do with these big bad butch SEALS who ' don't deserve love' and keep going on and on and on about it. And such strong females ...that are anything but. The storyline was weak too, very shallow characters. Found it free.

Freedom is a series starter and, unfortunately for me, an ender as well. I'm totally willing to suspend my disbelief for a well-crafted plot, but I just didn't find that here.

So without reiterating the blurb too much, here we have a best-friend's-brother/romantic-suspense trope mashup featuring a just-out-of-the-military SEAL with guilt issues and a supposedly curvy heroine. (We know she's curvy because we're told she is. Also, she likes cupcakes.) Lily has contacted Archer because her BFF Jaymes (why the Y?)--Archer's estranged brother--has gone missing. Archer swoops to the rescue, with his team not far behind. Everyone has first and last names plus a nickname, which gets hella confusing, so my best recommendation is not to try to remember who's who. They set out to find Archer's missing bro and also to discover the nefarious truth behind his disappearance.

Meanwhile, Lily and Archer--who've just met and neither of whom want permanence--find time to have loud, explicit, loud, raunchy, loud sex. While I'm not opposed to consensual sex between two virtual strangers, I do find it implausible that people frantic to find a missing loved one find the time or interest in such shenanigans. It just stretches credulity.

I never fully understood the logic behind Jaymes' disappearance, but I won't say much more in an effort to avoid spoilers. There also seen to be gaping holes in the plot before the book ends in a rush. Lily and Archer do get their HEA, but there's also a series plot that likely won't get solved until the last book in the series. I'm okay leaving the gang right here though.

I received a copy of this book for free from BookBub. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

Former SEAL Archer Ford gets a phone call from Lily Scott in a total panic after her best friend (and Archer's little brother) has disappeared. Archer finds it hard to trust his instincts after a mission ended with his friend in a body bag due to friendly fire and so when he sees Lily asleep in his brother's bed and feels an intense desire for her he finds it hard to believe that they are just friends considering he is not strong enough to resist her. Thankfully the rest of his old teal of SEALS shows up to help in the search for his brother and everyone becomes a suspect including Lily. Trust is questioned and broken with no guarantee of freedom. Can they find his brother before it is too late?

I enjoyed this book with the desperate search for his brother mixed into the family dynamics that developed over time and are still in place today. I also enjoyed meeting the team and the way that they worked together like a well-oiled machine but then also were individuals with their own individual problems to live with too. The relationship between Archer and Lily started as just a hook-up for some relief but then morphed into something so much more (even though he had convinced himself that he did not deserve to be happy in his future). Lots of drama and excitement as they worked the mystery. Easy to read and understand. Contains a lot of mature content.

excellent

When Lily realizes her best friend is missing, she calls his brother Archer for help. Lily has known Jaymes for years and blames herself for not calling for help sooner. Archer is a former SEAL and hasn’t talked to his brother in years. He has just been honorably discharged and is still getting over accidentally shooting and killing his best friend. Archer starts investigating but there has been no ransom or any communication from the kidnappers. When they realize Lily’s apartment has been searched, Archer makes her stay with him in Jaymes apartment. Archer calls for help from one of his SEAL brothers and they all show up at his door. Together with his “ brothers “ Archer will stop at nothing to find his brother.

** CLIFFHANGER ** Suspenseful. Sexy. Action. I truly loved this story. My first time reading this author and it will not be my last time. If you are looking for a story that will keep you hooked from the very first page, this is it.

Archer & Lily: triggers: military friendly fire, kidnapping, bombs. So I was not expecting this book to be this good but it was. The blurb was a little confusing at first or I was tired because I totally the the BFF was a female. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤣 IDK. But he is definitely not a female. Lily calls her best friend's estranged brother for help when he goes missing. Archer shows up with every intention of finding his brother and no intention of talking for the beautiful woman who claims to be his brother's "friend". There's drama, suspense and some really steamy moments. I really enjoyed it. I only had two issues... What happened to the big bad? And now I have to go buy the next book. Hopefully I can find it on audiobook because that AI - narration in play books is garbage. Good read!

41\2* For Sure.

When Lily calls Archer He's her last hope. Jaymes is missing and calling his brother seems the only thing to do. Having left the SEALS Archer feels lost when he gets the call from Lily he sees it as a way of making amends with his brother. Only Has not prepared for Lily to take down his last defence.
I really enjoyed this, Archer is gruff ,Moody ,growly and hot. Lily is pretty capable and knows what she wants. Loved that she is not only curvy but not ashamed of it either, plus she's not weak in dealing with all the change that's happennimg. Loads of action makes this an enjoyable read and makes you want to keep reading .

2 1/2***. I like Navy Seal heroes and the concept of this new romance intrigue series but felt it was written for YA/NAs. The thin plot with angsty characters was simply too juvenile to be taken seriously.

The MFC, Lily, is sleepover besties with one brother (who has gone missing) and begins a "friends with benefits" relationship with the other brother, Archer, who is a former Seal with a chip on his shoulder. He and his Seal team buddies have retired from service under dark circumstances but they get together again to help find the missing brother.

I didn't care for the MCs in this plot, how ditzy Lily was or how Archer thinks of himself as not worthy for a relationship.

Freedom

Jaymes has been kidnapped so his best friend Lily calls his ex Seal brother to help look for him.
After suspecting Lily will be next Archer makes sure she stays at his side.
Lily hates how he seems to know everything about her but can’t get away.
Both of them have lust filled thoughts for each other from the beginning.
When Archers team comes to help either the investigation the green eyed jealousy monster comes out in Archer which never happens.
When a new lead to find Jaymes goes south the team blame Lily but it isn’t her leaking information it’s someone close by.
Some of the writing was a bit repetitive but besides that it was a okay read.

Archer, a former Seal gets a call from Lily, to say his brother and her best friend Jaymes is missing. The brothers haven’t been in each others lives for years but despite this Archer sets out to find Jaymes. He calls upon his former team mates who all left the forces at the same time.
There is a lot of mystery surrounding just why Jaymes has disappeared but there turns out to be a shocking twist to the tale. During the investigation Archer and Lily have an emotional journey and reach their HEA must to Jaymes unhappiness. There’s a lot of unresolved issues which Jaymes and Archer need to work through.
An excellent read which sees the start of the series and the formation of the F-Bombs.

Um....I liked it?

It was kind of odd.

Less of a love story than a story about SEALS with a romance as well. And that's okay. I just expected more of a love story.

I do have to say a couple of negatives...

1. The ending was rushed.
2. I really didn't like the heroine that much. She made some really dumb choices. And to be honest, it really bothers me when people have loud sex without caring whether people in the next room hear them. That's shitty behavior.

Regardless, I downloaded the next book in the series.

Archer has just been released from the military and is trying to figure out what to do. He gets a call from someone claiming to be his brother's best friend. He drives immediately to his brother's place and finds Lily. Lily explains how Jaymes has gone missing. His unit from the military hears about the situation and the next thing Archer and Lily know, they are all there. The story is about how the go about finding Jaymes and the relationship between Archer and Lily. A good book to read, but it has a little of a cliff hanger.

I have followed Mary E. Thompson with her Big and Beautiful series and when I saw that she was striking out into the Romance Suspense genre I decided to follow her there as well. For a first book, she nailed it. I love the F-Bomb Team and look forward to reading the upcoming books in this series. Archer and Lily went through miscommunication, trust issues, and many surprising twists and turns to get their HEA. Prepare yourself for a great ride.

Love the Seals reads. This one did not disappoint. This group of Seals has discharged from the Navy. One of them,Archer, has word that his brother has disappeared and he heads home to find him. What is great about this novel is his Seal buddies show up to help him in search.. Of course, there is a love interest as Lily, his brothers best friend called him. They are all there as search continues. Ending is Quite interesting as the bad guy turns out to be a friend. Good writing.

A Seal post operations story

I liked a lot about the way a brotherhood of ex-Seals immediately dropped everything to help one member out. I liked how that member's brother's friend loved cooking and catering to them all.
I was amazed that this team of highly trained soldiers overlooked some obvious loopholes. I was also disgusted by her low morals and behaviour. Her alpha male came across as pathetic at odd moments too.
Otherwise it was an entertaining read.

I really wanted to give a positive review of this book. I truly admire those who attempt writing fiction.
However this book wasn’t that good.
His brother had been kidnapped and he and his brother’s friend jump into bed together straight away!!
Then it ends without a resolution. But wait, sign up to get the epilogue.
Still no resolution!!
Also bugging experts haven’t found the bug in her room!!
Sorry but don’t waste your time reading this.

Saving the people his loves

This was an enjoyable read, where archer ex seal is called home to help find his missing brother. Lily, his younger brother's BFF is worried sick about jaymes's disappearance. Her feelings for archer change over the course of days as archer and his old team look for clues. A few twists in the plot keep you on your toes. Some I saw coming, others not so clear.

Although I really liked the book,

It took forever for any action. This was supposed to be ex military, badasses, trying to save a kidnapped victim. It was too drawn out. No real action until the last fourth of the book. I think Mary is a talented writer, but maybe needs a bit more experience writing thrillers. I'm not giving up yet. Plan on reading more, of Mary's books!

A solid read, action with twists and turns, plus a romance and a happy ending.

What happens when a SEAL Commander goes off his head and gets his team ambushed? They all get "retired", but when the brother of the guy who took the blame is kidnapped, the whole team rallies to him and works to find him before the deadline.

Story ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Total insta-connection with the two MC. It's your typical SEAL romance, I did enjoy the book, but the storyline was pretty predictable. Even the twists were pretty obvious.

I loved the strong personality of the FMC, refreshing to read a book without a pushover MFC. She commands the group of SEALS and is not afraid.

The Bomb!

I have to say I really enjoyed that. Took me a little bit of time to get into it but once I did I went with the flow and it was great. The action and suspense gripped me and I loved the romance between Lily and Archer who both weren't looking for love but magic happened.
