Blurb: “Georgiana Darcy, the firstborn Darcy sibling, has much to learn about importance of duty, honor, and social status in the journey to find true happiness and love. All the while, another matter of honor threatens to destroy Elizabeth's family.”

“…brotherhood of the firstborn, which can be both a blessing and a curse: the overwhelming attention to the detail of their lives and development. The expectations that run too high: being the bridge between adults and children, one foot in either place and the accompanying hollow lonely feeling of being nowhere.”
― Whitney Otto, How to Make an American Quilt

There are many changes in this off-off canon story. Canon conversations and dialogue were juxtaposed to another speaker and in a different context to what we are familiar. It was cute seeing someone else say those famous lines. At times it was a bit off putting. Those actions we remember as occurring with Darcy are now happening with his older sister Georgiana. See??? Just saying that has a jolt to it.

Darcy Family: Georgiana was the first born, William [son and heir], then Beth [Elizabeth Anne Darcy]. Lady Anne died shortly after giving birth to Beth. Mr. George Darcy died several years later, Lord Matlock and second son Richard [who resigned his Army commission] assisted William with the running of Pemberley until he came of age. Mr. Wickham senior was the Pemberley steward until his death and his son George had already established himself as a somewhat scoundrel.

Bennet household: Robert Bennet, son and heir, Jane, Elizabeth and Mary are the only children. Their financial success is hidden from Mrs. Bennet and the neighbors and is much better than the £2,000 that is known about Meryton.

Bingley and Caroline are the only siblings. Their father was a most excellent manager and increased the fortunes of the family and several others [including Bennet and Gardiner]. Bingley let Netherfield Park upon the recommendations from Robert Bennet and was completely smitten with Jane as soon as he laid eyes on her. Caroline felt that Jane was worthy of her friendship and condescension, but not as wife to her brother. Caroline had high aspirations of the first circles of society and being mistress of Pemberley… em… married to Darcy.

Mr. Gardiner was a successful businessman and was partner with Mr. Bingley senior. He helped Bennet invest/manage funds for the dowries of the daughters of Longbourn and to assist Mrs. B should she outlive Mr. B.

Then we have George Wickham… even our author announced: “And this isn’t your normal fanfiction baddie George Wickham.” Yep, I could see that and actually felt sorry for him. I know… I actually bit my tongue when I said it. There is a lot going on with this guy and his transformation was amazing… horrifying… but amazing. This guy hit the bottom of the barrel… so to speak; however, there was forgiveness and redemption for him as he strived to regain his honor. I was moved by what happened. You won’t find it until the epilogue.

Rating: MA: Mature Audience: trigger warnings provided when scenes of assault were presented or discussed… although it was a failed attempt… it was descriptive, adult themes, sexual preference [think of Lord John Gray in Outlander], descriptions of Regency marriage and infidelities.

Religious element: There was a thread running through this story as our characters attended church, quoted scripture, prayed for their loved ones, and referenced scriptures in their conversations. This was a normal response to what was going on in their life. There was no preachy element to the discourse and it was gently done.

The love story of ODC was just delightful once everything fell into place. They are so adorable. I just loved them.

So Different- Loved it
I thought this was an excellent unpublished work of fan fiction. I recommend reading the older reviews for this story, which already provide good summaries. I loved this Darcy. He was just fantastic in every way. While it is completely off-canon, I always seem to especially enjoy variations that feature a Bennet heir. I believe this is definitely a favourite portrayal of one.

A little tidbit I especially enjoyed early on in the book was how Bingley purposely blotted his correspondence to annoy his friends for his own amusement. That made me laugh.

Adding this one to my re-read shelf to find it again one day.

A forced marriage scenario with the most intriguing premises. Georgiana is the oldest Darcy sibling and there is another additional sister, Beth. There was also a Bennet brother...
Thrilling and entertaining, off canon story with very creative reuse of dialogue from canon, in new settings.

Enters with a prologue with events from pre canon and a broken engagement.
Due to an attempt of sexual assault, ODC reached an early understanding and there was plenty of page time with ODC as we follow their road to deeper affection. Jane and Bingley married without any hiccups.
The Bennet's was well off in this story and there was a prior connection with the Darcy's but it was not known by society in general.
Georgiana was an interesting character, given good principles but followed them in pride and conceit.
Loved the banter between Elizabeth and her brother Robert and did not miss the absence of the two youngest Bennet's.
I particularly liked the unpredictability of this story, it took a lot of unexpected twists and turns.
I would rate it M for the attempt of a sexual assault.

Heartily recommend this book!

In this Pride and Prejudice variation, Georgiana is the oldest Darcy. There are also some extra siblings for the Darcy's have a younger sister and the Bennet's have an oldest son. The author has included all the usual misunderstandings but it is Georgiana with the improper pride. Elizabeth and Darcy find themselves married and finding their happily ever after through tragedy. Their growing love shines as an example for those around them to evaluate their life and their needs.

I really enjoyed this story!!

There is a proud, prejudiced, arrogant Darcy but it's not Fitzwilliam Darcy. There is a Bennet who breaks through these barriers and that is not Elizabeth Bennet. The author claims in her notes that this could be an independent story but I feel it fits the framework of our dear story very well in spite of a few missing characters and a few additional ones. I really liked the way author was able to capture and keep our interest engaged with the story.

Oh, this was such a sweet, austenesque story!

I love it when authors go all for it and make Darcy and Lizzy become friends with easy. Their relationship was beautiful, kind, and developed before our eyes bit by bit. I think I'm in love with this author <3

We also are introduced to Robert Bennet, Mr Bennet's first son and heir. Friend of Charles Bingley and - by association - of our so much younger Mr Fitwilliam Darcy. And most ardently and irrevocably in love with non other than... Miss High and Mighty Georgiana Darcy. (I know, you've seen this story before, but where, I ask myself...?).

What I really liked about this plot, though, was how it developed to show that even the smallest of changes can make a person so completely different. Here, as Darcy is not the first borne, the one that feels most responsibilities when their parents pass is Georgiana. She is now the one singing the "duty and honor" mantra around Pemberley hallways.
This change also meant the Fitwilliams played a larger part in Darcy's upbringing, being responsible for the state until he turns 25. It contributed to atone for that loneliness and self-sufficiency that plagued the canon Darcy and isolated him from, well, life.

And then there is Darcy's little sister, Miss Beth Darcy... Which is what I think little Lizzy Bennet would've been at two and ten.

Oh Gosh. She is sweet, funny, caring, witty, and love pirates! It surely is something to do with the name...

Anyway, as others have much better described before me, one of the surprises of reading this story is finding the most unexpected characters quoting some very known phrases from P&P - it really shows how words don't have meanings by themselves, they need context. But I digress.
Another important point to me was how she felt with the "villains", and how they were more human than most. Wickham was written in such a way that, in the end, I simply couldn't bring myself to hate him (even though he made some hateful things along the way).

As it is obvious, it was a very, very good story!

In this P&P variation how to the lives of the Darcys change when Georgiana is the first born and has all the traits of a Darcy, with Fitzwilliam the second born and then a much younger sister Beth. The Bennets now have an heir, Robert, with three sisters. Can Georgiana overcome her heritage to have a happy ending. Unfortunately after a long read I didn't get the pairing I wanted.
Overall an entertaining variation

An interesting premise

This is the only book I have read in which Georgiana is the older sibling and this little wrinkle made for a very interesting variation. It is generally not badly edited for an unpublished book. Like most unpublished work it is rather too long and would need editing before publishing. Nonetheless it was an enjoyable read.
