Going deep: In football it means running down the field for a long pass. You’re serious. Committed. Unstoppable. As a wide receiver, it’s a term I’m all too familiar with. It’s who I am, at least when it comes to my career.
For the past decade, football has been the only thing I’ve allowed myself to commit to. That is until a beautiful, blue-eyed temptress steps into my limo to escort me to a charity function.
She’s strong, independent, and quick witted. Everything I want in a woman. There’s just one problem. She’s not mine for the taking. But that’s not going to stop me from winning her heart.
I’m in deep with this woman. I’m running down the field with my arms and heart open, ready for the catch. Now all I need is for her to throw the ball.
Nikki Ash resides in South Florida where she is an English teacher and mom by day and a writer by night. When she’s not writing, you can find her with a book in her hand. From the Boxcar Children to Wuthering Heights to the latest Single Parent Romance, she has lived and breathed every type of book.
Reading is like breathing in, writing is like breathing out. - Pam Allyn
While reading and writing are her passions, her two children are her entire world. You can probably find them at a Disney park before you would find them at home on the weekends!
Nikki Ash is absolutely KILLING ME with this series. I have the mother of all book hangovers after finishing Going Deep. There is just no way you can pull my brain out of this Killian and Giselle obsessed trap now. I have no choice but to just read this book again until I can finally feel like I’ve gotten enough of them. So for the next eternity you can find me reading this. No, but seriously, Going Deep is one of my favorite books Nikki has ever written. I loved everything about this book! The sparks that flew when these two were at each other’s throats. The heartbreakingly real look at loving someone who’s struggling their mental health and trying so hard to get them help. The achingly sweet ways Giselle and especially Killian showed their love. And about a thousand other small details that would make this review waaaaaaay too long if I listed them all. I went into this book already liking Giselle from the previous book, but now I more than love her. She just may be one of my all time favorite characters ever! She’s so strong, so selfless and loves so deeply that I found myself completely in awe of her more than once. Killian is a different kind of wonderful. Once those walls of his came down and his heart was given a chance to shine he had me melted into a puddle of swoony fan girl goo. He’s like everyone’s ultimate book boyfriend all wrapped up in a sexy package. Needless to say, I was a goner.
I can’t go back to yesterday because I was a different person then…
I knew this book was going to be good, I could feel it based on “The Pickup”. These two were just giving me all the feels. What I didn’t know was that this book was going be spectacular! Ms. Ash definitely scored a touchdown with this story!!!!
Killian and Giselle are two characters that are going to stay with me for a long time! I just loved them both so much! They had me all over the place… this really was a love to hate kinda story, but not really if that makes sense lol.. In the beginning some of the banter really hurt me for them…. but it was only because they didn’t know each other’s stories, they were just spewing shit at each other. But then, then, then they had me freaking swooning and I couldn’t get enough of them. Seriously I couldn’t put this book down. I just had to know how it was all going to play out. There were so many touch and go moments, I wasn’t sure if they were going to make it!!!!
The story just gets better and better on each page and they made me laugh and cry and swoon, and it was hott!!!! This story was just everything and then some! I loved it and I cannot wait for Celeste’s story.
💜💜THIS BOOK💜💜 I got an amazing surprise when this beauty landed on my kindle today. I was so excited for Going Deep to get here, but nervous at the same time. The Pickup (which is book 1 in this series) is one of my all time favorites. I will not say how many times I’ve read it in the short time it’s been out. But with that being said I was really nervous that Going Deep would not be what I was anticipated. But I was worried for nothing. Nikki Ash absolutely killed it (pun intended 🤣). Killian and Giselle’s story is everything I have learned to love and expect from Nikki. They have “real people” issues that are relatable, and make you love them more.
Killian and Giselle make my heart so happy. I love how much he loved her no matter how hard she tried to push him away. I love that when she decided to love him, she loved him. She went all in. She never second guessed her feelings for him or his for her.
You could feel the inner turmoil Giselle felt with her mother's health and her fear of it playing apart in her future. The moment I could see her willing to leave Killian to give him what he wanted my heart hurt for both of them.
I love Nikki Ash so much!! I feel like a broken record because I just love anything and everything she writes. This series is absolutely amazing!!!
Killian and Giselle's story was one I was waiting for after reading The Pickup. I love how they didn't have instalove but their story was a slow burn. I love how Nikki Ash tells the story and leaves you hanging until the end. The chemistry between Killian and Giselle was off the chart hot. The story kept me wanting more and learning more about Killian and Giselle was the best part. I highly recommend this author and this book. The pickup doesn't need to be read first but I would highly recommend it. Can't wait to see what Nikki Ash brings me next!!!
“No, no!” said the Queen. “Sentence first—verdict afterwards.” Much like Lewis Carroll’s famous tale Killian Blake has established a sentence on the Giselle he thinks he knows before ever exploring the woman she truly is. Killian learns when you judge a book by its cover, you miss out on the best parts. As Killian comes to realize the pages of this woman lead him into the light of the dark chapters from his own story will he have the courage to turn the page?
Giselle is a fighter, willing to do anything to make sure those she loves are protected and cared for, even if it means sacrificing every part of herself. She’s broken and battered but continues trudging on, balancing the pieces with a smile pasted on her face. When Killian Blake pushes his way into her life her resistance starts to fold..how can she keep her wall up when he continues to break through brick by brick.
In this story we watch two broken souls put down their shields, recognizing the best part of being vulnerable is the connection and strength that can come from going deep together.
For readers who are familiar with the Imperfect Love Series Going Deep will pull you down the rabbit hole make you question what you think you may know about these two characters. For those who aren’t familiar.. Just Read The Book - You wont regret it ❤️
At first, many would thinking Nikki Ash’s new release, Going Deep is another sports romance in her Imperfect Love series. However, while it does feature a football star, instead of dressing in his football pads, he comes in the form of a knight in shining armour rescuing the girl he never though he wanted.
Ash absolutely floored me with Killian and Giselle. Maybe I’m blind, but I never saw these two coming. In the first book of the series, Killian and Giselle had a mad love/hate relationship. He thought she was a gold digger and she thought he was a giant ahole. While much of that didn’t change in the beginning of this novel, Ash quickly turned the tables on me and surprised me with a sweet, slow burn romance between Giselle and Killian.
Going Deep was so much more than your average romance. Ash created two perfectly broken characters filled with depth of emotion that you can’t help but fall hard and fast for. Between their past relationships, jobs and life among friends there was not one single moment of this book I didn’t devour. Ash has nailed it yet again with a great new romance.
Not gonna lie, I was not so sure about Killian in the beginning but I changed my mind and I am completely in love with him. Absolutely one of my favorites!!
I already knew I loved Giselle since she is such a great friend to Olivia. I knew she had a rough upbringing but you get a much bigger picture of how bad it really was but yet instead of complaining she is doing everything possible to survive and take care of her sister & mom.
This story dives into mental health and the effects it has on the people closest to you. I will say I can’t believe Giselle’s father. I get the tole it took on him and their relationship but to do to his daughter’s what he did I can’t forgive…..inexcusable!!
I feel like it is best that I not give too much about this story since the unfolding of everything is part of the charm and excitement of it.
‘Going deep’ is the second book in the imperfect love series by Nikki Ash- First book- the pickup (Olivia and Nick’s story) Second book- going deep (Giselle and Killian’s story) Third book- on the surface (Celeste and Jase’s story) All three can be read as standalones.
“When you can’t look on the bright side, I will sit with you in the dark.”
Going deep gripped me right from the start. This is the story of a girl. A girl so strong and selfless that she ends up giving too much of herself- including her body.
Giselle Winters is an interior designer intern as well as, an escort. She is taking care of her family despite, hanging on by a thread herself. She is the perfect mixture of selfless and bold.
And Ohmygod can I just take a minute to take in what is Killian Blake!! . Though, I have to say he doesn’t make a nice first impression, or a fourth one at that. He at first comes off as judgmental, condescending and not at all nice. Nevertheless, he compensated for it in the end by turning out to be supportive and loving to a T. He is a professional football player with secrets that he holds on to with dear life.
“There’s a phrase in football. Going Deep. Have you ever heard of it?” “It’s when you run down the field for a long pass. You’re serious. Committed. Unstoppable. I’m in this deep with you, Giselle. I’m serious. Committed. There’s no stopping what I feel for you. I’m running down the field to catch the ball. I just need you to throw it.”
Giselle and Killian have the same friend circle although they are far from being friends. Both of them judge each other from the icing and not what's inside. Killian thinks Giselle is just another gold digger where as, she thinks he is a typical athlete. Due to fate pushing them together, they find themselves unraveling before one other.
“I’m afraid we are mad. But I’ll tell you a secret. All of the best people are.”
“Because when you’re around I don’t feel so broken or lonely.”
This was the first time I read anything by Nikki Ash and I can gladly say I was not disappointed. At first, I thought it would be another sports-romance cliché but it was not. The plot was completely fresh and original. The thing that makes this book stand out for me is its side characters. They are beautifully written. The scenes between Olivia (Giselle’s bestfriend sister) and Giselle were....let's just say I needed a few tissues to keep me going.
“And one day you’re going to meet a prince you will trust with all of your secrets, and he’s going to save you just like Flynn Ryder saved Rapunzel.”
Apart from feeling that it was a little fast paced at times, I felt it's a wonderful read. I would recommend it to those who like their characters to be broken and lonely. Oh, and to those who have a thing for ‘Alice in the wonderland’ references. At last, I’m going to tell you what Giselle told Killian— “Read. The. Book.”

5 “Broken and Lonely” Stars!!!
Ok, first thing is first, Nikki Ash is a new-to-me author and this was my first time reading one of her books. Why hadn’t I heard of her before? I don’t even know, but I sure as hell have been missing out.
I obviously didn’t know that the main characters had already been introduced in the previous book in this series, since this was my first time reading this author. Yes, both books can be read as a standalone, so I didn’t find myself missing out. But I am most definitely going to go back and read the first book. So, I honestly didn’t know what to expect, but oh boy was I hit with an emotional punch.
Giselle is one of those heroines I root the hell out of. You can’t help but feel for her and for what she’s going through. She is selfless to a T. Doing everything possible to keep things afloat and trying not to let her mom and sister down. But in the process of doing her best to solve multiple problems and working nonstop, she forgets one important thing, to ultimately care for herself.
Killian, OMFG I’m so taken with him. It wasn’t hard at all falling for him, even though in the beginning he did have me a little ticked, but he more than redeemed himself. He left me just as emotional and had my heart aching for him and what happened. There was so much more to him and just needed someone to be broken with him.
Giselle and Killian’s relationship started unexpectedly and built on friendship first before Giselle let it develop into something more. And even though she wanted to stand on her own and deal with her problems alone, all Killian wanted to do was help her. But he was patient and downright sweet. He had me swooning and shedding a couple of tears at just how truly amazing he was. I couldn’t get enough of these two and just how beautiful they were and equally beautiful together.
Going Deep brought the laughs as well as those hard emotions. And though it’s a romance, Ms. Ash touches on heavy topics with respect and added depth to Giselle and Killian’s story. I loved this book. I loved Giselle and Killian. And I have found a new author to obsess about. Oh, and I can’t wait for the next book in this series, is it June yet?
When it was announced that Killian and Giselle would not only be getting their HEA’s, but that it would be with one another, I knew it would be explosive because after spending time with them in The Pick Up that was the only way it could be with them, and they more than proved me correct. Their dance was just as cutting and harsh as it was sweet and smexy and ended up being filled with a whole lot of heart.
Killian and Giselle were exhausting and intriguing and as much as I wanted to reach out and shake some sense into them, I ended up loving them both. Killian is loyal, stubborn and has a tendency to only see what is on the surface and not look further, at least not without being Gibbs smacked. But it’s his loyalty, and the protectiveness that comes with it, that balances him out and makes him lethal. Giselle is a force. Sweet, sassy and not afraid to speak her mind, she goes big, even if it is detrimental to herself. She has walls, upon walls built around her and has a tendency to believe she can only rely on herself, but it’s because she cares so hard and so deep that she can’t (and at times won’t) see any other way to do things.
To say that Killian and Giselle’s journey to their HEA is a rocky one is an understatement. A huge one. But, I can’t deny that as frustrating as these to two could be, it was a lot of fun to watch as they went from enemies to so much more. To see their sniping turn to bantering and and distrust to understanding was definitely something to experience, and that doesn’t even take into account the smexy that blazed between them. And while they had more than their fair share of issues, both individually and together, to wade through and I loved how they not only became each others soft place to land, but the ones who pushed them to see beyond their own noses.
As much as I enjoyed The Pick Up, I absolutely LOVED Going Deep. There were a lot of twists and turns in this baby that kept me on my toes and turning the pages. This one tackles some pretty heavy subjects, I don’t know if they are triggers per se, but things do get deep, but they were all handled well. Catching up with Nick, Olivia and Reed was fun, and oh so cute, and got to meet a few new people that promise to make things quite interesting in the future, but it’s Celeste that still intrigues me the most and I cannot wait to get my hands on her book!

Hooked from page one! I love Nikki Ash. She always has great storylines and keeps me interested, entertained, and begging for more! But I think this is the most emotionally invested I’ve ever been in one of her books... My heart was in it with these two the entire way!
Going Deep has to be one of my favorite books Nikki has ever written. I have been waiting for Giselle and Killian's story since I finished The Pickup and Nikki Ash has once again written an incredible story. Simply put, I loved everything about this book.
The relationship between Giselle and Killian began as unexpected and built on a tentative friendship first before Giselle let it develop to more. Her independence was important to her, if not extremely stubborn! Killian is all special kinds of wonderful. He was unbelievably sweet, patient and above all else, just truly wanted to help her. Once the walls came down and his heart was given the chance to shine, he had me melting into a puddle of swoon. I absolutely adored how Killian and Giselle fell in love and be ‘broken’ together. Ultimately, they are two imperfectly flawed characters who just fit perfectly together. And I love that this book is sizzling and super hot but at the same there is an overall heartwarming sweetness to it.
Nikki has definitely impressed again with another must read romance. As with any Nikki Ash book, you get wonderful main characters and an amazing bunch of side characters. Every character are all so well written, developed and relatable. It’s impossible not to fall in love with these characters. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for Celeste in the upcoming book in the series.
Last Nikki ash book I read I put in the review and I quote “every Nikki Ash book is a 4 or 5 star read” - so ofc the next one I read is a 3.
I liked all the characters, she makes enjoyable characters and I’m going to read the next book my problem with this one was how much she talked down to herself about being an escort. It’s 2022, if you want to do sex work, do it proudly. I hate the idea of a woman forced into it because she feels like it’s the only way she can make money. I’m not a fan of the movie pretty woman and this book gave those vibes.
Also, I Nikki Ash has an obsession with one tree hill and I swear every single book has atleast one reference to that show. It’s comical to me every single time I find it in a book.
⭐️ 4.5 "Be Broken and Lonely With Me" Stars ⭐️ Going Deep was such a beautiful and emotional story. I'm a huge fan of enemies to lovers romance and it's definitely the way Killian and Giselle's relationship starts, but it becomes so much more between them. Nikki Ash brought to life a gorgeous couple connecting through their brokenness!
After reading the first novel in this series, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect from this story. Let me tell you that it’s not your typical enemies to lovers romance packed with angst. Through their hardships, Killian and Giselle slowly grow closer and develop the most stunning relationship. Killian seems like the carefree star football player at first glance, but he’s such a caring man and he soon discovers that Giselle is more than what she shows to the world. She’s the most selfless person and hides a big secret from her family and friends. This secret breaks her, but there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for her loved ones.
Killian tries to prove his worth to Giselle by just being there for her. He’s so understanding and supportive, but he also has a secret of his own that’s been torturing him for years. This couple is broken and have trust issues, but they share an undeniable bond that is so palpable though every action. I loved them so much!
I enjoyed that the supporting characters had an important place in this book. It was great to see more of Olivia and Nick (The Pickup) as a couple and parents to little Reed, but also witness Celeste’s armor slowly cracking. Her book, On the Surface, has me totally intrigued now!
Going Deep had me full of emotions all read long! This read had me smiling one minute and crying the next one. Giselle and Killian’s path to their happily ever after was mesmerizing and so touching! I just couldn’t put this book down!
Loved this emotional enemies to lovers story by Nikki Ash. She bought all of the feels with Going Deep.
I was hooked by this story. I loved both Giselle and Killian. Killian was an asshole at first but man as the story went on he was just so swoony. Both were broken and flawed in their own ways. But their connection... God damn it was fire!
You just knew that when you started this book that their story was going to be explosive.
5 sensational stars! Review by Nancy Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog
I one hundred percent LOVE Nikki Ash! Going Deep was phenomenal! An honest to goodness, heart pumping romance. It is the second book in the Imperfect Love series. If I thought the first book was amazing, this one blew it out of the park.
If you have not read the first book I would go and do that, it is not necessary as this is a standalone, but I do recommend it. We were first introduced to both these characters in the first book in the series. I won’t lie, I was already intrigued by this hero and heroine from the glimpses we got in book one. My goodness, I was blown away by how perfectly developed these characters became.
Killian and Giselle were like oil and water, or so they thought. Their relationship started a little rough, but they fell hard and fast.
Killian is a professional football player, the wide receiver. He is dedicated to his career. He lives and breathes football. He has secrets that he planned to live with forever. Secrets that had him closing off his heart a long time ago. There was no one who could change the hurt and guilt he lived with. Until he found someone who was just as broken and alone as he was.
Giselle lived a very hard life. When she went off to college she thought she had escaped her home life. Except she didn’t really escape anything and things only got harder and harder. She worked a job she wasn’t proud of, but she did what she had to for her family.
When an unexpected event leads her to Killian, she is determined to keep him at arms length. After all, he has always treated her poorly. When she is at her breaking point, she realizes that she let in the one person she least expected, Killian. He swooped in like a storm, and before she knew what had happened, she had fallen for him.
This book was everything I love in a romance novel! The plot, the character, the side characters, everything about this book was spectacular. I cannot wait to see what the third book will bring! Nikki Ash is a phenomenal writer and she never fails to deliver a captivating story. A must read!
I’d just like to add that there are a lot of references to Alice in Wonderland, both the book and the movie, and I was all for it! I loved the quotes and references. I thought it was so perfect for this book.

5 Stars! Nikki Ash is amazing! She has quickly found a permanent place on my top ten favorite author's list. I have never came away from one her her books disappointed. If anything, after reading her books, I want more.
So......while I absolutely loved this book, the H/h were not easy to like in the beginning chapters. Both of them treated the other horribly. Mean things were often said and many assumptions were made. Killian and Giselle are the epitome of the love/hate relationship only they didn't know it. There is a slow development of their relationship as it grows from animosity, to tolerance, to friends to more. Of course the more is my favorite.
Killian is a pro football player and Giselle is interning at a prestigious interior design firm. While Killian is in a good place, he is not looking for a relationship. He has a story that will break your heart and give you that justification of why he acts the way her does. Killian is loyal and generous. He is sexy and and every woman's dream man. I actually liked him better than Nick from the previous book, The Pick Up. And that says a lot because Nick is an amazing character.
Killian will become the hero that Giselle claims she doesn't need or want. Once she lets Killian inside her heart, Giselle can finally find peace with her life and find love. Without going into details, Giselle has been going through a very difficult time in her life. She has had to make some decisions that I personally did not like. Thought I understood, and did not judge her because of it. Thankfully Killian didn't either.
This book was really amazing and I don't want to say too much more about it. You should enjoy it on you own. I will say that if you haven't read this author yet, You are truly missing out on some very talented writing.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thant you for taking the time to read it. :)
I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book because in my mind I thought it would be an enemies/ lovers story because Killian and Giselle seemed to not favor each other very well. I was shocked to learn that this second book in the Imperfect Love series would be about them. I usually don’t favor story lines where the characters don’t get along. I’m glad I gave this one a try, anyways. It was different than I expected. At first, Killian made smart, hurtful remarks about Giselle but then he started really seeing her and trying to figure out why she was acting and doing things the way she did. Then he seen her in a new way. He admired her and wanted to be there for her.
Giselle didn’t have it easy and she was always doing for everyone else around her. The things she would do for the ones she loves didn’t put her in a positive light. She didn’t care. She sacrificed for her family.
The relationship between Giselle and Killian started out unexpected and built on friendship first before Giselle would let it develop to more. She wanted to stand on her own. Killian was so sweet, patient and truly wanted to help her. I teared up a few times at the things he would say to her. “When you can’t look on the bright side, I will sit with you in the dark.” Who don’t want that? Eek. Love that quote.
What really topped this book off to be remarkable was getting more of Nick and Olivia from The Pickup. It didn’t take away from Killian and Giselle’s story. I loved the scenes when they were all together.
Broken, flawed characters are a Nikki Ash special and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Killian and Giselle are definitely one of my all time favorite couple’s of all of Nikki’s books. Sometime when life is hard we all need someone to give a helping hand. Killian is the perfect hero with love, patience, and understanding which lets Giselle know she is stronger when she lets people in. Ready for the next book bring it on!
Nikki has fast become one of my one click authors. I had NO idea where this story was going. The plot really took me by surprise and I loved every moment of it. The connection between Killen and Gisselle was perfect. Giselle is a strong minded and very independent which I love in a h. Killen is so affectionate and kind and so damn charming. When Celeste's name came up often I was suspecting her book and I'm so excited for it. Shes going to be one helluva girl to tie down. One of my top reads of 2019
Going Deep was an unexpected surprise. I went in thinking it would be a light read, but I was so wrong. It was emotional, unputdownable, and so much more! Words can’t express how much I loved this book. I was hooked and read it all in one sitting. I cried, laughed and swooned so hard for Killian. I loved him and Giselle. Nikki Ash has the power to cure book funks so I definitely recommend you binge read her books if you haven’t yet. I can’t wait for Celeste’s book. June, where you at though?!
Going Deep is an emotional enemies to lovers romance that resonates. A flawed young passionate woman meets a successful athlete at a crossroads. It’s sexy and moving every page.
This story is exactly what the title says. It goes deep and stays there. Really bringing the reader into the developing relationship between Giselle and Kill and it will break your heart and mend it at the same time. I love this couple. Killian is so much more than he appears at the beginning. He has souls within his soul, and he slows becomes everything Giselle never knew she needed.
Killian is a great lead. He has a strong moral code, maybe even bordering on judgmental, but it works for the journey he is on. Giselle is complicated not least of all because her family holds her back so much. She lives out loud though and cares so much about her family, even at a tremendous cost to herself.
The New York setting is perfect, and her living arrangements are a major plot point that Ash uses to her advantage so well.
Going Deep is a great place to start if you’ve never read a Nikki Ash book. And you’re in for a total treat because you have so many steamy titles to read. If you have read her before, then you know exactly what you’re getting. She is at the top of her game.
This book stole my breath away. Talk about mind blowing with these two characters!!! Killian and Giselle knew each other thru their respective best friends that were dating and believe me they didn’t like each other at all because they looked at things differently and never got the chance to actually get to know each other. They were both broken and lonely in their own ways.
These two couldn’t stand to be nice to each other for even 5 minutes but then Killian wanted to know the real Giselle underneath all the layers after an incident. He realized that he was completely off and started admiring for how determined she was and all the struggles she carried on her shoulders. Giselle was not an easy cookie to convince. The things she was going thru was heartbreaking but she was so independent and did what she had to do. Killian was never judgmental and wanted to help her. This was a slow burn that was worth reading their development. Killian was almost perfect and Giselle was just amazing. His swooning and the things he did for her will have you with happy tears. My favorite was when he stood up for Giselle against her own best friend; talk about a man that defends what’s his. I loved that Giselle still wanted to be independent and didn’t sit back and let him help her with everything just because.
I was surprised with her job but Killian didn’t care he saw the woman behind the facade. These two by far my favorites and their epilogue is priceless and left me wanting more. The issues these two dealt with together were very heartbreaking and realistic. Love these two.
WOW! I enjoyed the first story in this series, but this one was just as good!!! Killian and Giselle aren’t exactly enemies, but they aren’t really friends either. BUT they share some moments that bind them together in ways that no one else will ever understand.
I LOVED the way that Killian was determined to help Giselle and the complete 180 he did in his thinking of her - and others as well. He started off kind of like a giant jerk, but really he was hiding behind his own pain. The way the author was able to tell this story of two broken people and make it so real had my heart in my throat more than not while reading.
Giselle might be one of the strongest heroines I have read in recent memory. She was determined to carry the weight of her entire family on her shoulders and she went to extreme ends to make sure they had what they needed - while often times ignoring her own needs.
Together Killian and Giselle blew my mind. I am so sad that the book is over because I just want more. I want to see them as they continue their journey together. I want to know what happens next. BUT overall, I’m just so happy that this author decided to share their story with me because it was definitely one of my favorite reads so far this year!
*** I voluntarily read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***
Where do I start? Everyone knows that I’m obsessed with Nikki Ash and I’ve been reading everything by her. And once she said that Giselle and Killian were getting book I knew I was gonna love it. But I didn’t expect it to be his huge emotional read. I laughed, cried and feel in love with Killan and Giselle even more then before. What I would do to have a guy what is will do take care of you no questions asked just bc he cares for you. Seriously can we have a Killian in real life.
I loved how these two came together. Love that Giselle is strong minded and independent. Doesn’t want to take handouts from anyone. Killian is affectionate m, mind and charming. He maybe a football player but he wears his emotions on his sleeve and as a heart of gold.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again that I love Nikki’s writing!! She just keeps bringing it!!!
Killian & Giselle are everything you could hope them to be. Both broken souls who have found eachother. At first an unlikely pair hate to love. There are some twists, surprises, humor, angst, love, just everything!
“We’re all broken, filled with imperfections, scars from the wounds life has inflicted on us. Being with you has shown me that it’s not about trying to fix the broken, but finding the person you can be broken with. Be broken with me, baby. I can’t play in this game alone. My arms and heart are open. The ball is in your hands. Will you throw it to me?”
“She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible.”
Wow, Nikki has done it again. I fell in love with Killian and Giselle. Giselle is a stubborn, strong, independent woman who has experienced some tough times and wants to do it herself. Killian is a good looking, charming when he wants to be, football star. These two constantly go back and forth with each other based on judgement. Once the walls come down and these two start to understand one another, you can't help but get sucked into this rollercoaster or emotions. Killian and Giselle take you for one insane ride, but it is totally worth the journey. I could not put this book down, it's an amazing read!
Oh, Nikki, you did it again. You put me in another book coma with your amazing story and brilliant characters. One of my favorite things about Nikki Ash books is her ability to write the most perfectly imperfect characters. To me, Going Deep was all about these two broken souls trying to find a way to fight through broken and lonely together.
“Do you ever feel broken and lonely, Killian”? “Every damn day”
Giselle, our h, got a really crappy hand dealt to her in life. And she fought hard to just get through, just survive. Things didn’t go her way. That is until Killian Blake saw past her cover and pulled her out of the hell she was living in. Killian, our H, is the most amazing, price charming, swoony, character I’ve even read. The two of them together just made me so happy and smile.
“I just want to feel connected to someone. I’m tired of feeling so alone”.
“When you can’t look on the bright side I will sit with you in the dark”.
I loved all the amazing quotes, especially all the references to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. It added such a sweet element to the story. It was also nice to get so much more of Nick and Olivia. I definitely can’t wait for Celeste’s story, and I have a guess who her H may be...
I hope you all love this book as much as I did. Thank you Nikki for always entertaining me with your brilliant stories.
After finishing The Pickup I didn't know what to expect of Killian and Giselle's relationship. A little of enemies - to-lovers story but nothing is compares to what I just read.
This book is full of strong emotions and misunderstandings but also it's full of comprehension and love.
In the background it could seem that Killian and Giselle come from a normal family but that's only because Giselle had tried to keep her personal life hidden but Killian won't have any of it and he would try everything to break her. And not in a good way.
When Killian knows more about Giselle, he finds out that they are more alike than he thought and now he is determined to make Giselle see she is worth of good things.
My heart was full seeing these two trying to heal each other. Seeing Killian doing everything to let Giselle know she will never be alone and that she could always count on him was the sweetest thing.
I fell in love with both but Killian holds my heart with his love, his words and his actions.
Can't wait to know more about them and Nick and Olivia in the next book.
