Totally unexpected
I was NOT expecting this kind of book...this amazing mystery thriller with devilish undertones. Superb writing. Excellent shifting of time and perspective. Wonderful chills and creepy thrills. A++ on the message. Not preach, just fact. Loved this book!

Hardly worth it
I have to say I'm sorry to the author because I'm sure he tried hard, but this is probably the worst book I've ever read. The dialog was almost comical in how unrealistic it was and the message about God was overwhelmingly cloying. This kind of pablum is straight out of a 50s advertisement. It's also like the writer couldn't make up his mind about what kind of story he wanted to tell so he squashed them all together. Not good. I'm really surprised this got published.

Intensely uncomfortable
As a lover of all things horror, this may be the first book to truly give me pause...to make the hair on my arms stand up and my stomach flip flop at the perverse nature of some of the details. I was acutely disturbed yet wildly interested and also left considering my own religious beliefs in the end. Kudos Mr. Creasy. I look forward to more of this in the future!

Excellent psychological and suspense thriller. I found it refreshing that God and religious discussion had its place in this book. Scary, mysterious, and entertaining story.

Good book. Kept me glued to the pages. I felt awful for Sylvia but was glad when the end came. I did have questions about Father Ted and the Kentucky people (who were super creepy).

I'm honestly surprised this book has so many good reviews, it was a real struggle to finish it. What stood out, among other issues:
- The story is only barely related to the blurb - UVid is just an excuse to take the main character out of NY and to tell the reader about her controversial methods, and it stops being relevant right after.
- Dialogue is unrealistic and unnecessarily long-winded - when people chat it's usually not a monologue with quick quips from the other person who only serve as footholds to continue the rant. There's also something to say about how people actually talk to strangers -
- Asides from Sylvia, who has some depth, all other characters are one-dimensional cardboard cutouts with unrealistic dialogue. I.e.
- Sylvia's "controversial method" wouldn't be out of place in a fantasy book as a magic power. Basically,
- I had to skip at least two entire conversations - because it was basically the author Bible-thumping. I don't mind reading about Christianity (hell, I read the entire Caballo de Troya series and loved it) but (1) that's not what I came for and (2) the dialogue is obviously a thinly veiled attempt by the author to show how atheism is wrong and bad. If anything, this had the opposite effect and made me dislike pretty much everyone, from the Satanists to the priest & his police altar boys.
If the book's blurb was honest I would have never read this book, and this review (and the nagging feeling of wasted time) could have been avoided.

Original Plot, Great Story, But a Little Disturbing Considering Story Line
This is NOT a story about religion, but it does have a religious bent about good and true evil and some occurences in the story can be disturbing. Take what you will from that and be forewarned before you read.
That being said, it is an original story line, not one i've read before, and written quite well. It was almost like reading 3 stories at once as the story jumps between 3 time periods in our heroines life... (1976 as a child, 1996, and 2017). Told in 3rd person, there is no confusion of time period as dates are posted at beginning of each chapter when it changes. Occurrences in each time period are related like the ripples of a rock thrown in the water reaching ever outward or like the " butterfly effect" where decisions and actions can effect outcomes well into the future.
I was often surprised or kept guessing and, in one occurrence had never even begun to suspect until just before it happened. I often thought there was no way this story was going to end good and while it did not end as badly as I thought it would, there were still a couple of loose ends or unanswered questions. Yet it could not have ended any other way ... The bad ending I anticipated would have left the reader disturbed, while an HEA with everything tied up in a pretty bow would have diminished the story ... it just wasn't that kind of story.
The characters are well developed with the exception of those who MUST remain mysterious by nature of the story. The story is engaging so you want to keep reading; yet I found myself having to put it down, not because I was bored, but because my mind and heart needed the break. All in all really good read!

Hoping for a Book #2
I wanted to absolutely love this book, and while I truly did enjoy it, it fell just short of my absolute love. I'm hoping in the end this is because there will be a Book 2. For me, the book began somewhat slow. I felt as though it took me reading up to nearly 50% before I got to the "nitty gritty." Otherwise I felt like the author could've given us more- such as what exactly transpired with Billy and Mr. Marsten (though we were offered some insight with him, I just wanted more). I do not need to know what took place in gory detail with Billy, one could easily have a good idea, but more so where was he taken by the high priest; was he only wanted as payback for Sylvia's earlier departure, etc. Also more background on Heather would have been a great addition.
Overall, the book was awesome and definitely kept me flipping pages, and this is why I am hopeful for a second book as I have a feeling the author didn't "leave" anything out by mistake, instead he saved some for a second run. Thank you to the author for such a creatively, creepy, good read.

A Real Page Turner
I started this book around 10pm at night, big mistake as I was up to around 2:30am reading, I just couldn't put it down.
Eye Bleach talks about the current and past life of a psychologist. As she was dealing with some unknowns the book was going back to her childhood, to a point in her young adult time when she lost her husband and son and the current time when she was searching for a young girl she knew of but had never met.

GOOD READ
This book is good if you like reading about cults. I guess I didn’t realize but it didn’t keep me from finishing. The author does a good job at keeping you engrossed with good character development. I chose a 4 only because of the cult portions. If you are into that I believe you will like the read!

This was quite possibly one of the most boring books I have ever read. It was a struggle to get into, and once I did my interest barely lasted a few chapters. The book is barely about what the blurb describes it to be! The timelines are so confusing and jumbled.

Interesting.
It was an intersection and interesting characters. Sylvia was very troubled losing her son Billy and her husband. I found the ending troubling and disturbing.

Unlike anything I have ever read
I couldn't put this book down. I think this book is what I will call Christian fantasy. Good versus evil and evil finding God.

A real bizarre story

This is the scariest book I've read in a long time and I couldn't put it down once I started reading. The pace is fast, dealing with some truly gruesome events, but it kept me on the edge of my seat until the surprising end.

I'm really disappointed in this book. I started very excited about 2 of the main premises of the book - the impact of watching videos uploaded to the web for obscene content (which I had never thought about before) and the ramifications of tampering with human brains and memory. However, while those were in the book it was secondary to the "real" story. Unfortunately the real story had terrible plot holes and weaknesses and for me was entirely unbelievable. Coincidences or synchronicities if you prefer do occur, but this book pushed reasonable believability even for suspended disbelief way too far.
SPOILERS
I have no problem with theological debates, but please give the avowed athiest better and more believable arguments against the priest. Even for a believer reading this it was far too one sided a "debate," especially along the lines of doctrine and historical and orthodoxy issues related to the Gospels.
Most of all though, I was disappointed that this turned into a book about a conspiracy of crazed cannabil Satanists. This story could have gone all sorts of fascinating places, but instead it falls back on the old standard witch hunt. I also do not appreciate how it lumps New Age believers, Wiccans, and pagans into the "dark forces" in the world and right alongside the crazed cannibal Satanists. There is no differentiation made nor any understanding of these different type of believers displayed in the book. It is a gross misrepresentation and an entirely unfair portrayal of a group of believers who differ from Christians, but also between those various groups and even within them. Not everything non-Christian is dark in nature or Satanist.

The synopsis for this book is pretty misleading. I’m not a fan of the time hops. Sylvia as kid. Sylvia married. Sylvia working at Uvid. I knew straight away the goth girl wasn’t who she appeared to be. This book had more to due with religion and the occult than it did about Sylvia’s job at Uvid. This was more like reading a bible. Also, use more contractions!

I dont know if I every read a book and didn't like it after a few chapters. I usually gave each book a chance . For some reason the chapters in it were longer and after 2 chapters I just couldn't get into it . I did speed read it but glad I didn't spend anymore time on it.
