There is a time for everything— a time to wither, a time to grow, and a time to blossom. I Saw You As A Flower is a poetry collection that encompasses heartbreak, growth, and finding love. These poems are for those who love too deeply, for those who break too easily, and for those who continue to rise— time and time again. Ellen Everett's words enable readers to confront their deepest sorrows and piece together the parts that are broken. This is a story of heartbreak and love— but more importantly, a story of overcoming, empowerment, and survival.
I so want poems to be about something other than love at the level of teenage breakups. These were shorter than most teenage breakup love poems, at least.
Absolutely adored this poetry collection. Ellen swept me away in the beginning. A time to wither is probably my favorite part, because I see myself in the poems. I relate to being hurt, being left, feeling unappreciated. It is truly something my heart needed to hear; there is a time for withering, but it leads to growing and blossoming. Refreshing, real and breath taking.
A quick read to rest my mind in between heavy book plots. It also brings to life certain things I've known but never correlated, as well as, open my eyes to some blind spots.
