Author quotes Tanning's lament at constantly having her art explained in terms of male influences, then goes on to talk about all the male artists he thinks influenced her. And some male writers, for good measure.

Reproductions are small in both size and number, but of good quality. I didn't find them that interesting; my personal preference is for her more figurative work.

I recommend one of the larger and more comprehensive books on women surrealists instead.

Here, have a creepy fabric art installation!
