Lake County Minnesota Sheriff Dave Trask and his identical twin brother Don, lead investigator for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), were bored. Their planned fishing trip to Chase, Minnesota had been hijacked by the weather, leaving them with time on their hands, which they decide to fill by looking into the three-year-old disappearance of a local woman. The weather improves, the Trasks go fishing, but they can't shake the sense that there is something more to the woman's disappearance than they see in the case files. Don Trask assigns Agent Danny Carlisle of the Duluth office to look into the missing girl's background. Carlisle's investigation leads her to the University of Minnesota at Duluth where she is stonewalled, and soon in danger, while the Trask brothers follow other leads bringing them to the conclusion that a serial killer is roaming northern Minnesota, abducting young women who disappear forever. Readers of John Sanford, Michael Connelly, Steve Martini, William Kent Krueger, and like authors should enjoy this fast-paced murder mystery detective thriller.
Chuck (C.E.) Nelson is an avid angler and author of three highly rated murder mystery series.
The Trask Brothers Murder Mystery Series follows the exploits of Dave and Don Trask, identical twin brothers in law enforcement, as they chase down killers across Minnesota and beyond. Like the author, the brothers love to fish, and you'll usually find a few fishing tidbits in each book.
The Edge of Winter and Kill Six comprise the Danny Carlisle mystery series to date. Carlisle has appeared in Trask Brother's books and is a headstrong independent agent from Duluth, Minnesota, likely to get herself in more than a little bit of trouble.
Peter 'Doc' Hunter is the protagonist in Angry Sins. Doc is a BCA agent who is working on becoming a professional golfer when his day job doesn't get in the way. Doc is a good golfer - the author, not so much.
Nelson resides in Minnesota and has a cabin in Canada where he feeds his angling needs and ponders his next story.
I enjoyed reading about two brothers (twins). This was my first time reading one of your books and if the next one is as well written then I will enjoy it too. Thank you for write it.
A great murder mystery that kept me guessing til the end. Good character development. Good plot. Sick killers. Quite the page turner. Kept me up late at night reading.
This book kept you on your toes. The premise was a little disturbing though. Good twist that one of the bad t was a cop.Loved the main character Carlisle.
Really enjoyed reading this book. Lots of twists and turns. Like the twin main characters and how the author leads you in a journey to solve the mystery.
Nelson has hit the mark with this realistic, mesmerising, suspense thriller. The author has an uncanny ability for making his story unbelievably interesting. A literary master piece for suspense novel reader's, that's about as good as it gets this is a must read that have you glued to the story from the first page to the last.
A great read for everyone who loves to read suspense thriller novels for sure this is a must read page turner.
3 ½ *stars REALLY I HAD A HARD TIME REALLY GETTING INTO THE STORY, BECAUSE I DID NOT LIKE THE MAIN CHARACTERS, THE TWINS. THEY ARE TWINS WITH BAGGAGE, ONE OF THEM HAS A DRINKING & EATING PROBLEM (a terrible combo). MOST OF THE CHARACTERS WERE NOT VERY LIKABLE THEIR PERSONALITIES AND BEHAVIOR WAS JUST YUCK. I LIKED THE STORYLINE BUT THE CHARACTERS SEEMED A BIT OFF TO ME THE GOOD ONES AND THE BAD ONES. I THOUGHT THESE TWO ARE POLICE AND THEY HAVE GUNS (scary) AND THEY’RE THE GOOD GUYS. :<
I liked the way the brothers got along when working together or fishing together. They almost read each other's mind, and they moved as one. The storyline moved along quite well. The ending was a bit of a surprise. But was just right. I would recommend this book to all readers who read complex mysteries or light entertaining mysteries. This is a combination.
This is an engrossing story, with several characters in the mix relating to the disappearance of several females. Once the investigation begins, more missing women are added to the list. As the investigators close in, the story abruptly ends. A good story but an odd ending.
C.E. Nelson has humor and suspicions wrapped up in this great story about murders. When twins Dave and Don begin an investigation into an old abduction case the game begins. Don't miss this intreging book!
This was a good book, with many sub stories that all the back to the story at hand. You will not get to know the real culprits till all most the very end so happy reading!
This book was well written and very interesting. I enjoyed the background given on the characters. This helped understand them so much better. I will be interested in reading more about the Trask Brothers!
DNF one of my biggest book pet peeves is when the same word is repeated unnecessarily in multiple sentences in a row. This book did that a lot and I couldn’t get through it. Character dialogue was also stiff, clipped and uneasy. I’m sure the plot was fine but just not for me
It was an interesting read. I liked the characters but I was pretty sure that the older perpetrator was a cop. I would recommend this book to fans of serial killers.
This was my 2nd Trask brothers story. The story itself was good with a bit of a surprise at the end, but there were so many"filler" pages that I just ended up skipping. However the story was good.
Entertaining enough, but some implausible aspects to the plot. Especially unrealistic was the incident between Carlisle and Walls. Also, the book title doesn't relate very well to the plot.
