Along the way, Ada Twist will help her fellow young scientists solve mysteries big and small and show how the powerful impact of scientific research is felt all around us. Do you ask questions? Is why your favorite word? Do you like to search for answers and conduct experiments? Then you’re a scientist, just like Ada Twist, and this book is for you! Here young scientists have the opportunity to explore all of Ada’s favorite sciences—from botany to astronomy to chemistry, and everything in between. They’ll create experiments, follow the scientific method, and learn to look more closely at the world around them. Track the phases of the moon Build an aquascope Grow plants in your own garden Watch decomposition at work Record weather changes Observe a chemical reaction Design a vehicle powered by renewable energy And much more! For any parent who wants STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) to be fun for their girl or boy, this book is packed with experiments and activities designed to inspire children to be excited about science, school, and learning.

This book is great for elementary students who know how to write. The book provides space for you to write and draw various things related to science (make lists, observations, ideas, experiments, etc.). The original story of Ada Twist is also included at the beginning of the book which was a very nice addition. I also find it nice how it has a list of easy household or nature items you can use in your science discovery.
It has various facts about different things related to science and does a great way of explaining everything you need to know to start your science exploration or path. The difference between fact and fiction, examples on to read something and go back to what you read to see if something is indeed a fact or fiction, the scientific method, inspirational tidbits, and other interesting material is in this book.
There's a lot of things for a child to do in this book. There are some experiments for your child to investigate within this book. I expected more ideas for experiments, but I understand the way the book is laid out it's not a book just on experiment ideas. It answers some of the why questions of the world that children may have wondered about and it explains many aspects of the science world in a fun and creative way with some experiments and investigations along the way.
At the end of the book there are some suggestions on how you can reduce the CO2 in the atmosphere and 5 big actions you can take to help the world. I really liked these two lists and I think it would be a great list to include in a recycling unit for any age.
There's also a glossary at the end of the book which is nice and helpful.
This book sparked my interest from just the cover. From the cover, it illustrates not only a female practicing science, but an african-american female practicing science. I was excited to read this book because from the cover made me think how this book could impact young girls. Girls are not often pushed towards or expected to enjoy/work in science fields. Also, history shows how uncommon it was for an african-american woman to be a scientist. This book is breaking stereotypes just from the cover. After reading the book, I knew it was one I needed to have in my classroom collection. The story illustrates a character who is overflowing with curiosity, and she is constantly asking questions. This book teaches children to do just the same and explore the world around them. Specifically, it empowers girls to pursue whatever they are passionated about. I would love to use this as a read-aloud lesson while incorporating it with a science lesson.
This is a fun STEM book with several reasonable activities. Good span of topics, coverage, definitions, mix of hands on and fill out worksheets. I appreciate that there are links to print fillable worksheets. Apparently Ada Twist is a TV show character. I don’t know how truthful this is to the character. Glad that this was among the digital STEM books that the Vermont library consortium bought with Ben &Jerry’s money.
Such a lovely, fun interactive book that anyone, including an adult not that into science (me), would want to engage and complete the activities. I learned a great deal of forgotten/perhaps never learned science content by reading this, so adults and children could read and learn together (or just adults who don't take themselves/ nonfiction too seriously.) Also, a perfect keepsake gift to keep and treasure. Also downloadables here: https://questioneers.com/
