Secrets. Scars. Solitude. Those three words now define her life. And the big one, Silence. But this is not a vocabulary lesson. This is a story about a girl; a girl who chose to keep silent. Did she make the right choice?
SHE IS DROWNING IN SILENCE. When Hannah wakes up in the hospital, she makes a decision to feign memory loss about the events that landed her there. Now a college freshman, she’s determined to put the past behind her, but she’s coming to realize that silence may be her biggest enemy.
WILL SHE LET HIM LOVE HER? Within minutes of meeting Hannah, Parker quickly discovers that trying to befriend this prickly girl will be like hugging a cactus; it can only end in pain. But Parker loves a challenge, and he makes it his mission to put a smile on that girl’s face. The more he knows about Hannah, the more he wants to find out. If only she would let him get close to her…
Hannah is done letting anybody in, but being surrounded by so many cheerful people—especially Parker—is tempting her to open up again. Maybe even fall in love. Will she put an end to the lies? Or will she keep pretending? Find out the truth in…OMITTED.
I have to start by saying that I loved the romance/mystery vibe that was going through this entire book! I kept wanting to know WTF happened to Hannah in her past! And when I finally found out..... I literally had my heart break for her. BTW cousin award goes to Aaron!!! We ALL need someone like him in our lives.
For anyone that is a Hannah, for anyone that goes through something like her (even in the slightest way possible) just know you are so freaking strong!
The only thing I wish this book had was a better understanding of the characters connections. I wish it was written in Hannah's POV so we could see what she was truly feeling and remembering from her dark past.
Overall, I loved this book, and Peri, thank you for giving me the chance to read this! Holy cow I wish I could write even HALF as good as you!
I recommend this to anyone who is into the romance/mystery/drama type. It has all the perfect amount of everything in it and its a great read with a lot of meaning <3
Peri June sent me a copy of her novel in exchange for a review, and I’m grateful she did! :) Her writing really shines in certain spots of this book, but is really lackluster in others. The dialogue seems just a tad unrealistic at points and the narrative doesn’t delve into the characters’ thoughts, actions, and environment as much as I’d like. If the smooth attention to detail flowed throughout the whole book, it would have been better. I’d also get confused here and there. The book was in a kind of third person view, but at the same time, would switch main perspectives between characters. I’d sometimes forget whose point of view we were reading in. Another thing. We all knew Parker was going to fall for Hannah. The question was when. Still, I found him to be all of a sudden pretty head over heals, and he quickly fell deeper. It was cute and sweet, but still. I found the build up of the secrets involving and the reveal of her accident to be quite well done, though. Your mind was left to wonder through most of the book what life had been like at that point in time. I just wished there was more accounts of different times she’d been abused, and more on her childhood and her parents. Her “peace” with her abuser was a bit dark, but I like the way it came about and that Hannah got that closure. The ending was fitting, and the preview of June’s book “My Life As I Knew It” definitely grips you to read more of her work. I love that the main characters were featured in this book! Overall, this is a good read by a newer author! I wish there were more of it. If you’re looking for a romance between a really nice guy and a girl struggling with a secret past, this is your read!
Omitted was a really interesting read! I felt like I could relate pretty well to Hannah and I liked that there was character development, even for the secondary characters. There is a good amount of family/friendship/romance/mystery to make the story well-rounded and driven. I liked the premise of the plot and thought that the character relationships were realistic and relatable. My only issue is that I ended up wanting more from the characters: to know more about their personal thoughts and feeling and secrets, and for these to come through a bit more organically throughout the story. Overall, I really liked this book and would recommend it to mystery and realistic fiction lovers.
Hannah doesn't want to talk about the car crash that happened a year ago. She claims not to remember even a flash of what happened back then. The truth she's been hiding burns inside of her, and little by little it all begins to unravel.
