My Review
This is the origin story of the character Dario Panetta. Here, in this book, the author describes the miseries Panetta faced in his life, including starvation and poverty as well as his romantic affairs with Shawna. His fight for survival is portrayed by the author as he discusses subject like foster care service and physical abuse and its impact on the psyche and development of an individual. The author explains how these wounds run deep and never stop bleeding.
On one hand we see the love found - lost relationship between Dario, the fighter and Shawna, the tattoo artist on the other hand, we find the action packed narrative as Dario puts down his fist of justice. In the end, we find a touching moment between Shawna – Dario as he decides that he wants to keep her away from his messed up life and moves away as Shawna keeps on hoping and waiting for his return.
It is a story of Panetta’s endeavours to right the wrong done and to tie the loose ends before he moves ahead in life.
