Many interesting uses for baking soda; however, I would find the book more useful if the author had actually tried each use. As it is, the book is more a list of things that may or may not work. The reader is left to discover for herself.

I had no idea! My next visit to the grocery store will include several boxes of baking soda! Wipe your windshield with it to repel rain.

Improve the smell of dishrags by soaking them in baking soda and water.

Suck it in with your vacuum cleaner to remove the odor.

Freshen the air by mixing baking soda with your favorite perfumed bath salts. Put the mixture in small sachet bags.

Restore stiff brushes by boiling them in a solution of 1/2 gallon of water, 1/4 cup of vinegar, and a cup of baking soda.

and on and on and on!!

Lots of tips to be found in this book. Some are a bit vague though. Like a solution of baking soda and water...but they don't tell you what the ratio or anything would be. A lot of these tips you could probably find various places online, or even on Arm & Hammers website. Indeed, it tells you to go to the website for more tips. Interesting history about how baking soda came to be, and what it is now. Overall worth the pickup at the library, not sure I'd buy it.

Since I grew up in the generation of ready-made cleaners I had no idea that something as simple & unassuming as baking soda could be so useful. I think this book will help me save time/money/space and perhaps the environment. I can't wait to start trying out the suggestions!

contains many tips and hints seen in other books. Not bad, though the cover art is kinda atrocious.

Great ideas for cleaning!

I learned a lot of new ways to clean and revitalize my home. I admit I'm not the best housekeeper but some of these solutions were so easy I wish I had this book in my 20's!

Some uses I knew of and many I didn't. There are some I'll try for sure. Baking soda is pretty cheap so using it would help save money.

A great reference book. In 15 chapters, Lansky lists all the great uses for baking soda around the home, garden, pet care, home remedies, etc. I will keep this great reference book on my kitchen shelf right next to books about salt, vinegar and lemon uses. Cute illustrations are included throughout the book. I will always have a few boxes of baking soda in my home after reading this book.
