I gave this book 4 stars for the same reason I did so for the 2nd book. While the book was focused on building relationships between the harem, with a focus on one guy per book, the world building is still lacking. Similar to my last review of the previous book, I want to mention that this is a large fault in the story because the entire plot relies on Hunters coming after the werewolves (the harem) without any reason (to the knowledge of the reader). The other band the main characters are with turn out to be supernatural, but we are given no background on them except that they are mythical and thought to be extinct - yet here they are, accepted into the story without hesitation or question. I understand the main character is supposed to be naive to the outside world (and world out from under the thumb of the council) but because the plot relies on the supernatural world, I feel lost and disconnected to the story without the world building.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next one. The harem are coming together, personalities are becoming more pronounced and the sexual scenes are getting hotter. Character development is not really showing, but there it is acknowledged a lot. Hopefully we will see some big development over the next books.

Cliffhangers should be banned. That is all.

On a more serious note:

I know the author had serious issues that cropped up in her life that took time away from work on PHOENIXBURN. And I definitely sympathize. This happens. Life, and family, should always come first!

Unfortunately, that doesn’t change how I ultimately felt about the book. I would have preferred to see the release delayed until the book she wanted to release was ready. As it stands, PHOENIXBURN was much less polished than either of the series first two installments. There were more errors and the story felt much much less grounded. It was a little like watching a movie where the camera was slightly out of focus the entire time.

I am sure that the MC was a large part of that. She is so vapid, passive, and vacillating that being in her head forces the reader to feel her lack of clarity. She seems utterly incapable of rational thought or applying logic to anything confronting her. And she constantly whines about the guys keeping secrets from her, while she keeps a ton of critical ones herself. Hypocrite of the worst order. This was all an issue and frustration in the first two books, but PHOENIXBURN elevated this problem to a whole new level.

There were two redeeming factors that allowed me to finish this book (because let me tell you, DNF reared its ugly head multiple times):

• I still like the guys, overall, and want to see this harem come together. (That said, I am rapidly falling out of love with Finn, who became weak and whiny in this book)

• UNICORN SHIFTERS! Not to mention that they have been imagined as complete badasses that even werewolves and witches must obey. Awesome!

The two other big problems:

• Previously mentioned GODDAMN CLIFFHANGER

• Numerous WWII Cash POV flashback chapters that has no discernible point or integration into the story. I am certain the author has a plan, but it wasn’t remotely evident in this book. So it all just felt out of place and jarring. And frankly, I didn’t enjoy any of those chapters. And really? Starting the entire book with one? When you ended the last book on a cliffhanger? Come ON!

All in all, I am increasingly frustrated with this series. And the real strength - the believable and compelling insiders look at the music scene - appears to be ending with PHOENIXBURN. This all conspires to make me leery of continuing to book 4.

UPDATE PROGRESS NOTES:

84.0% "Yep. You hit the nail on the head. You are absolutely TSTL. Haven't met another MC as frustrating as you. GAH!
"F___. Sometimes. . . sometimes I really felt like I was too stupid to live, and didn’t deserve any of them, or any of the love the poured on me."

56.0% "Hypocrite. Did you tell them about when you went home yet?? Huh? Despite them asking multiple times?"

51.0% "*throws her hands up in disgust*
Oh, holy H3LL, Darcy! Stop being such a fuggin' moron. Your goshdarn powers have clearly changed, and are out of your control, but it never once occurs to you to TRY TO EFFING CONTROL THEM? To LEARN?"

48.0% "ARGH! JUST TELL THEM! Why won't you talk to them you hypocrite? You get all pissy if they have secrets, but you don't share."

41.0% "LMFAO... so Phoenixcry has to work their schedule around Darcy's cycle, huh? *still chuckling*"

40.0% "Not to mention pix online of you aren't safe with the witches. Idiot."

24.0% "Why on earth are they hiding what happened? That makes zero sense. Darcy needs to be aware... not to mention she NEEDS TO START DEALING WITH SH*T!"

18.0% "One of the plusses of this series are the unicorn shifters. But what I am loving here - they are BADARSE! LOL they are even controlling the werewolves (and witches). What's better than badarse unicorn shifters, I ask you?!"

10.0% "This chick is incapable of thinking. Reading any scene from her POV makes me feel like I have a horrific concussion, and everything is fuzzy and confusing."

8.0% "*sigh* Given everything she has seen and what she knows and what she IS... it is utterly amazing to me that Darcy can still be such a wimpy, timid, clueless friggin' doormat. Come ON girl! Get it together!"

5.0% "Not sure what's with the WWII flashbacks. ESPECIALLY to start book 3 when book 2 ended on a massive cliffhanger."

My favorite RH series by far!!!

This book is a brilliant continuation in an amazing series. With each book, KT Strange’s writing becomes better. The world she is creating for us is exciting, honest, and real. These characters are enriched by the depth of the relationships around them. Darcy has grown and continues to grow into herself as a witch, woman, and partner. These delightfully delicious wolfies get better and more beautiful with each book. We get to see layers and more layers of these men. Each with their own distinct personalities wrapped in the hottest of shells. The physical connections are soul deep and sinfully steamy but always organic. While shorter than the other books, this work proves the old adage quality over quantity to once again be very true. This book and series are more worth the read and I fully recommend!!
I requested and received an arc copy of this book. I purchased as well. This is my voluntary, true, and honest opinion.

I seriously want to give up on this book and I'm only at 44%

Right so firstly, I'm am honestly TIRED and utterly bored with Darcy and Finn. The reverse harem aspect of this series is in shambles. It honestly feels like Darcy is with Finn and the other guys are just tagging along for the ride. Also that point in either this book or the last (they are just melding into one by now) where Cash said "our girl" and her response was "not your girl" that REALLY rubbed me the wrong way.

Finn, at this point, has become whiny and needy and a little pathetic if I'm honest with you. Darcy automatically just defaults to him in 99% of situations. We get the idea that he loves his pack but he doesn't seem to want their little harem to come together.

I do like the other guys but I honestly am.not seeing much character development from any of them either than Ace.

Now Darcy, what can I say? She's like a Mary-Sue who thinks she's a badass. She fucking ain't. She just kind of fumbles her way through each book making dumb decisions that REALLY don't make sense then getting all whiny about it. She's passive, weak and vapid. She is COMPLETELY lacking in personality and it it is driving me up the wall. And touching on the RH aspect of this book again I honestly feel like she's a bit of a bitch. Shows little.to no interest in the other guys but damn near got mad when she found out Cash had flirted with fans. She sleeps with one of the pack members (mainly Finn, barely Ace) in front of everyone. Knowing full well that they want her and aren't yet going to do anything about it. I'm not about modesty but I am about decency. These guys want her and won't yet do anything about it but she parades herself in front of them like it's nobodies business.

Omg. PLEASE don't get me started on whole stupid unicorn bollocks that has reared it ugly head. Unicorns in most history or old time books were seriously badass creatures who fought in wars. Modern day dickheads haves turned them into the bullshit glittery rainbow coming out the ass losers and they played into ft with this. Chelsea wear pastel rainbow colours and sings fucking pop songs. They tried though, to make her sound badass along with this. Pick one and roll with it cause the two don't go together.

Why oh whhyyyyy...did she go home before? It was almost like the author had run out of ideas and her going home with just fluff. I got the impression that she was going home to learn about the heartstone l but she gets home and bends to her freak mother's will STRAIGHT AWAY. It was a complete waste of time and I am almost halfway through the next book and STILL.dont understand why she went home. I don't know what the author has in store for her but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Darcy whines about them keeping secrets but again, her going home, she never told.them what happened and they seem to have forgotten about it as well.

I'm gonna try and soldier on and finish this book but I don't see this book redeeming itself for me. Will uodate once I've finished it.

**UPDATE**

Literally just after I wrote this she moved things along with one of the others. As I though. Unredeemable but I soldiered on to the 6th book. Will review

Phoenixcry picks back up exactly where book 2 left off in the modern-day storyline with Darcy and her five rock stars, Max, Chelsea, and Glory Rev. Darcy's powers are growing but she has no control over them and the Hunters are now appearing at each concert venue. It also appears that the Hunters have targeted Max as well, raising new questions. With the increasing danger, it's decided that major changes must be made.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first two books. I loved Cash's flashbacks. The modern-day story seemed disjointed. I am also having some character issues. I like Chelsea but she is too familiar and seems to hold more importance (not professionally but personally) with the guys of Phoenixcry. Her own guys might as well not be there. Their characters have not been developed at all and there is no connection to any of them. I am a huge fan of Finn but not of Finn during a rut. Please never again. I like demanding and rough, I don't like petulant and whiny. But my biggest problem is Darcy. I am running out of patience with her. She's immature and angers too quickly. I still see no sense of professionalism. Honestly, it seems as if Charlie and Eli do her job much of the time. She plays favorites with the guys too much. She was outright nasty to Cash during this book. Overall, she's too wishy-washy and becoming hard to like. Max even scolded her on her behavior. I think she should be grateful for her scent; I think it's her biggest draw with the guys. I want to see spunk, a sense of fun, a take-charge manager. Let's grow into a kick-ass girl worthy of this band! I still need more of a connection between Darcy and the guys. There's no one-on-one time or group time spent together. I have been waiting for Cash's time and feel like I got shorted. It went from ugly fighting to sex. I guess good sex fixes everything? And I can't believe I'm saying this but the sex scenes drag on too long.

Again, this book ends with a cliffhanger. I'm still okay with that, especially since this series is released so quickly. You knew it was coming and this time I thought you knew you it would involve. I hope that it serves to help Darcy's character grow.

Keeps getting better and better

So many unanswered questions but in a good "i can't wait to find out what happens next" way rather than a WTF way. Reverse harem is a growing genre right now and some of the books can be rather formulaic and mediocre in their writing, jumping from choice to choice and relying on the paranormal aspect to explain the connection of what are usually very damaged individuals leaving the reader unsatisfied and a little uncomfortable with the whole thing, The Rogue Witch is the very opposite of this, short that little trip home at the end of book 1/beginning of book 2 (maybe I'll come to appreciate that, but I still hold the opinion it doesn't make sense for the character and that plot seeds for future events could have been placed in a manner that didn't feel so illogical). Strange has taken the time to develop the characters and slowly build into the relationships, romantic, friendships, and adversarial, so that it feels natural. Of course Darcy is falling for each of these guys (although I would like to see a little more Are time, I feel like he takes a back seat to the needs of the other guys allowing them to hog previous Darcy time/attention). Of course Chelsea is becoming their friend, Max handles this like you hope a best friend would. Everything is great. I can't wait for more. I'm guessing we will get at least two more books and I'm already mounting the end of this yet to be complete series because it just keeps getting better and better.

More wolf piles, more Darce, more mystery and more peril!

Lady did it again!!! In the third installment in the series, Darce and the guys are once again stuck in an untenable situation. The good news is, they grow more, get stronger, their relationships strengthen. The bad news? A tantalizing mystery from the past starts to emerge, and it's killing me trying to figure it out! I think I have an idea but I know the author has more surprises in store for us! There is a major decision made that changes the direction for our hardy and tested group, and Darce keeps getting stronger and stronger, you go lady!!! More secrets are revealed, more trauma too! They handle a festering problem but fall right into another!!! Nothing is settled, everything hangs in the balance, and with that cliffhanger? Aaah! On a happier note, more sexy times for the gang! Yay! With each book, I'm always kept on my toes, never knowing what will happen, good or bad. The characters are full of layers, beautifully flawed, and so easy to love! They test me, frustrate me, make me laugh, leave me in awe of their strength, and I fall in love more with each book. The story is chock full of everything wonderfully disastrous and the characters you love to love. This is a do not miss book, and series! Get on board and get yourself some Darce, and some truly tasty wolves!!!

I’m pretty sure this series is awful. I’m not sure what’s wrong with me that I keep reading. It’s book three and we still have no idea what’s going on. Characters are still not well rounded and I can’t believe I’m saying this but the intimate scenes every second or third page is really dragging this story down. It’s like at a freaking stand still.

The only redeeming qualities are Max and the unicorns. I’m so glad someone with some dang common sense made them get off tour to get their crap together. This is absolutely ridiculous I’ve never seen main characters so freaking clueless. Our guys are so similar it’s like their almost the same person, so much so that as character views change unless I’m really paying attention I have no clue whose perspective I’m in. I’m not sure what Eli’s problem is or really any or their problems because they really have hardly any depth whatsoever.

What’s with the WW2 flashbacks? They seem totally irrelevant when you could just say you’ve met a Phoenix shifter before. Also could someone please just get to the freaking point with what is going on with the hunters? What even are they? Who started the group and why?

Lastly, how come there is still no mention of Darcy’s family and what happened there? I’m beginning to think I imagined it just to spice up this book a bit.

4 Home In You Stars

Phoenixburn is the third book in The Rogue Witch RH series by K. T. Strange.

Kit is working her way to being one my go to authors. This series consumes me the more I devour of it. I have come to love the boys, and Darce, along with Max and all of the Glory Rev team.

I want all the best things for this group. Always in the back of my head is the prophecy in the second book. The changes this group will bring to this supernatural literary world. The witches and their ways, and my hope that somehow they can save these people from their misguided society.

What is Max? There’s so much confusion around her. Why a hunter would ‘mistake’ her as a were, the way the unicorns watch her. If she turns out to be human, that will shock me. But I think the even bigger shock to our characters would be what I think she is.

Craig is worming his way into my good thoughts. His treatment and care for Max is slowly allowing him to burrow past any misgivings I first had.

It feels like I’ve missed an entire other series about the Glory Rev herd. This being my first foray with Kit, I honestly don’t know. I can’t find it in myself to be upset if there is another series solely for our mystical unicorns. If not, I just wish we could understand them more thoroughly!

Amazing addition to the series!!

I really enjoyed this book and honestly don’t have much to say beyond the fact I love how each book focuses on relationship at a time, but also not leaving any of them out. One thing that’s happening with Finn (no spoilers), I wished would have been expanded, but the authors reasoning on why this was 20k shorter than intended was completely understandable. I really wanted to give this a five star rating, but there were several words that were misspelled, wrong character used, repetitive action (which goes into the wrong character used), and feeling a bit like something was missing. That being said, this author is very talented, so even her “mistakes” are considerably low which is why I gave this a four. Her father’s cancer diagnosis, treatment, etc. is also a huge reason why I understood how these errors occurred (compared to her usual writing) and honestly was lax on my rating. She writes these in four weeks—and with such a high level of writing too.

Loved this book, looking forward to the next, and wishing your father the best days ahead.

This is a very exciting series that is getting better and better with each book! This book is gritty and really shows how the guys are dealing with becoming famous and how Darcy is coping with it and with her feeling for the guys. It was good to get up know Cash more in this book, to be honest I thought it would be Charlie but I am sure he will be next. I am excited to learn about about Charlie and Eli in upcoming books and I really want to see more between Darcy and Eli. This book finished on a huge, shocking cliffhanger which had me yelling for the next book immediately! There were times in this book that I wanted the pace to pick up and st times Darcy annoyed me with how she speaks to the guys and how she acts..I just want to whack her and tell her to wake up to herself! Hopefully in the next book we will see them all communicating between!
Highly recommend book full of love, emotion, music and excitement.

I am seriously considering whether to continue with the series. If I give it another chance it will only be because the author went through some personal problems during the writing of this book. The three aspects that stand out in this series are: paranormal, music group and reverse harem. And all three are disappointing in this book. The world building is bad, there are no explanations and the protagonist, who is equally ignorant, doesn't ask or explain... however is full of irrelevant content from WWII flashbacks. The band fetish disappears because they decide to leave the tour. And the reverse harem... she does choose and make differences. I was hoping that the final semigroup sex scene would fill up expectations and it was equally disappointing, a reverse harem with group sex and the female only uses one of her three holes? Meh…

Another piece to the puzzle.

Another piece to the Rogue Witch series puzzle is revealed; and it’s a big one. Darcy finally smartens up and realizes the guys love her and want her, and she is no longer running. In Phoenixburn, secrets were finally revealed, and friendships strengthened. Max joins Darcy on the tour, and as expected, chaos ensues. They are faced with hunters, ex’s and questionable mythologicals.

Darcy continues to have trouble keeping a hold on her magic. The push and pull will Cash reaches the max and the resulting sparks that fly are more than hot.

I love the writing. The snark. The sweetness of the guys. The pop culture juxtaposed with slang from the 1940’s. The hot hot hot sexy times. Can you say puppy pile?! Get it!

Fabulous!!

I've been lucky to find this series where I could read all three books that are out straight after each other which was perfect because I couldn't get enough!

Darcy and her boys are wonderful and relateable where they weren't portrayed as being perfect but perfect because of their imperfections. I felt the pace which their relationship is going is brilliant, it always leaves you wanting that little bit more and the need to find out more about all of the characters in the book is high! The ending of this book has me waiting not so patiently for the next book to come out and I can't wait to see if some of my theories are right and to see what's to come for everyone we have met so far!!

A definite MUST READ 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Love

Love in so many concepts. Loving where the book series is headed. In the first two books, I wasn't entirely sure this was going to be one of my top picks to read. Yeah, I enjoyed the interaction between Darcy and the guys, but it had the very real possibility of growing stagnant very quickly. Luckily for all of us, that didn't happen. Now some of the tension between Darcy and one of the guys has morphed into something different. Hopefully that takes care of some of the spats, but hopefully doesn't neuter the character interactions between the two of them. I would love to see more flashback scenes from the guys. Also, when will we get a Glory Rev series?

Wow! What a story! Having picked up right where Phoenixfall left us, we jump right back into the thick of things as Hunters start to creep in on the Phoenix pack.

With a tale like this, it’s no wonder we all want to be on tour with Phoenixcry. The way KT Strange writes these boys is amazing - allowing some of them to have alpha tendencies, and yet still love Darcy in their own ways. It’s good to see that some answers are coming to light, and the flashbacks of Cash’s hint at what’s to come in the story. Can’t wait to read Phoenixash!

This story is continuing to be amazing . I M Buckingham and forth on whether are not I like Eli . sometime he is a straight but was but other times he seems too really care. In this part of the story you have Darcey bounding with another member of the pack nd honestly I think this has been. One of my favorite scene so far.It was intense and not at the same time. You also get more suspense and backstory in this book from some of the characters. 😬 also be ready for another cliffy. This author makes some of the best cliffhangers.

Back yeah!

Each and every book I love! I am reading these on kindle prime and am now for sure going to purchase them. I know I will want to read them again and again. The veil diaries and the ghost bird series are examples of books in my collection. This series does not quite have the agonizing slow burn of my usual faves...But the attention to detail in the relationships and the fully engaging world are def similar.

Phoenixburn continues right where the second book ended, with Max being attacked by a hunter.
The growing friendship with Chelsea and Glory Rev, is a fantastic part of the storyline. As well as Max being filled in more about what the guys are and the epic twist at the end of the book is a definite surprise.
Phoenixburn is just as addictive as the previous books, and this series will have you burning for more.

U need to read this series

Darcy and the boys return home after they are removed from their bands tour. She is now training hard on her witch powers and learning more about the guys. While dealing with her new role at work. The all have mostly mated with her but she is struggling with her feelings and theirs. Max is her best friend and is trying to keep her mind of all the drama.

Pins and needles

I felt through out the book that there’s something I’m missing ...a secret, a hole in history done on purpose ...and it’s revealed at the end of the book. Holy goodness. Throughout we hear about the guys’ time in Germany and I’ve been waiting for the reason, the other shoe to drop.
Guys...I screamed and threw my book. It’s sooo good. You need it ! This series is amazing.

Story keeps getting better and better. I love how you can see them grow throughout the series. The last book let off on a cliffhanger and this one picks up pretty much right where it left off. The characters are just lovable and have their own personalities. The storyline keeps evolving. The bad guys you enjoy hating. Its just probably my favorite RH series this year. Its so hard for me to enjoy other RH after reading this book.

This is a great series. It has a huge cliffhanger at then end. Darcy is getting closer to each of the guys. I like how the relationships are growing. There are some twist and turns in this book. I can't wait to find out what is up with Max. There is some big stuff going on in this book. I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say you need to read it.

Another good addition to the Rogue Witch series, but not very much momentum as far as plot progression. I'd assumed this would be a three-book series (don't know why), but many overall threads were left unanswered and it doesn't look like they'll be wrapped up any time soon. The romances are moving forward, but I would have enjoyed more overall storyline advancement also.

Wowza!

I was so wondering about max and those flashbacks. Killer ending with that cliffhanger again! Now I have to wait for the next one. But how exciting. I really liked this one but keep waiting for Eli’s moment. It seems to be each of the guys will have their own book I don’t normally like that but it works for this series.

Was not disappointed. Spoiler***Finally Cash and Darcy's wishy-washy attitude have ended at this for them. Nice to see more of the guys taking an interest in her. Like how the plot is developing also. STILL: This slow burn is killing me. What are you doing adding one new guy per book?! Lol the next one says it's the end so...I need Charlie and Elias to break.🤣😎

Book three and the story is continuing on at a nice pace, Cash reminisces about his war days whilst Darcy is struggling with her powers and her feelings for the guys. Secrets come to light and truths rare learnt

Exciting and full of drama throughout, this story kept me glued to the page, with Romance and steam as well to balance it out. I need book four ASAP!

So good

Loving this series so hard. I can’t put it down, I’m flying through the books one after the other. I love Darcy and the guys, even though they can each annoy me with their stubbornness and lack of communication sometimes. It’s nice watching the natural progression of their relationships and the bumps along the way. Now excuse me as I download and dive into the next one.
