Blue mages learn skills from beasts. This is the story of one fortunate enough to be taken in by dragons. This is a sequel to The Blue Mage Raised by Dragons.
This one was better than the first one, in that it felt like it had a more cohesive story with an actual ending to it. Though it was pretty funny, there weren't as many laugh out loud moments as there were in the first book, so it kind of balances. I felt this one was a bit better a mix between story and silliness, giving the whole book a more well rounded feel than the first one. If you enjoyed the first book, you'll probably enjoy this one too.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to try this book, but I wanted to give it a try because my best friends husband reads the series so I’m intrigued to see what kept him interested. Unfortunately I set it down for a while after only being maybe 50 pages in so it took some time until I felt like getting back into the book, but this is mostly because my reading mood was more into non fiction for a bit and just wasn’t in the mood for fantasy.
I’m starting to appreciate this series and writing style for one big reason; it is unlike anything I’ve ever read. I was frustrated with the first book because there was so many different characters and mini storylines that I struggled keeping up at times. I can’t tell if I enjoyed the second book more because I already knew all of the characters, or if there was less going on in the second book. I want to say it’s a mix of both. The jokes are fun, and the adventures are insane as always.

The first book I often wondered what the point was; where is this Vur-Universe going? He’s such an over powered but somehow mostly liked character, even with some dark traits. Now I’m committed to finding out the end game of all of this; is Vur just destined to take over the whole universe, and will he have just as easy of a time with other worlds/populations as the ones in the past? Or am I completely wrong and the story goes in a different direction? Somehow this series got me hooked and I don’t know how to feel about it. Lol. Onto the third book to see what happens next!
**Thanks for reading my rambles, it’s mostly just notes for me for later because I have such a terrible memory I like leaving myself reviews**

My Rating System: 5- Perfect for my taste, could not physically stop reading/listening, wanted more afterword. 4- Almost perfect, could not stop reading/listening, probably wanted more afterword. 3- Enjoyed the book, could see others loving it, need to think if I want more. 2- Can see why others might like the book, but I could not, I do not want more. 1- What is this? What went wrong? Why did they do this? This doesn't make any sense! (No idea who it is for but definitely not for me).
[Audiobook Version]
Like the first book, this book focused more on comedy without treating itself seriously. This is the perfect series to pass the time with and just enjoy the chaos that unravels. Honestly, one of the perks of the series is waiting for all of the characters to come together at the end and seeing how all of their actions tied into one another. The contrast between the characters personalities' also helps hold the story together and provides endless entertainment. Unfortunately, the series is a little repetitive, so trying to binge the series is slowly bringing it down. For the best experience, it might be best to spread them out rather than trying to go through them all back to back. Overall, it is still the only series that can make me laugh while listening to a world fall into chaos because of a small group of characters.
Don’t know enjoyed the first book was funny and had offered difference, but as I moved towards the end I just wanted to finish the book. Probably wasn’t in the mood to a funny book.
Liked it but not for the writing but for the relieve from the normal writing and the sarcasm that is in all the book, but it comes to a point that I just wanted to finish it.
Probably someone else will have a better experience.
This was an excellent follow up to Book 1. I think he author improved a great deal, with the storyline of this novel be much more focused that the previous. Multiple time I found myself laughing out loud and was presently surprised at how enjoyable another with these characters could be.
The story is similar to the first with even more escalation in what Vur does. I love watching how he goes through doing what he wants and it somehow works out. Definitely an improvement from the first and the growth in the characters and the new characters introduced will keep you reading for more.
I thoroughly loved reading both books in this series!!!! I really hope there will be more adventures for Vur in the future. I would love to ride along on Vur to the next great adventure.....You know for kicks and giggles. So let's go find Mom and Dad!!!! I would recommend this series to anyone that has a morbid sense of humor and enjoys an awesome tale
I'm really enjoying this Virlyce author. This book is filled with so much hijink it's beyond amusing. It's fun to read books with over powered characters that's done right. I will try the author's other books when I'm done with this.
I find it funny that the author plugged the exact book I was planning to read next.
I hope they write a sequel sometime in the future.
I read the first book when it was released, and I just got around to this one. This book was much better written, and the interactions between the characters was extremely amusing. If you liked the first book at all, then read this one. Well worth the wait!
This author is my spirit animal and everything I have read by them is glorious. Fantastic sequel and i desperately hope for a continuation on all their works. Thankyou for the amazing books.
The only reason this book is decent is that it is set in a new continent. Thus the protagonists have a new clueless audience to impress. I'm not sure this will work a third time, even on another continent. We'll see.
Definitely another great and funny read, fantastic addition to the series. And yes author, I will definitely check out The Godking’s Legacy after this.
A fun magical romp that reminded me of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. I will keep reading the series whenever I need comic relief. (Still funny the second time through.)
