Mindful Framing: Transform your Anxiety into Vital Energy

Rate this book
Do you have ANXIETY or STRESS?Learn HOW to TRANSFORM them into VITAL ENERGY... with JUST 15 MINUTES in the morningANXIETY AND STRESS are epidemic in today’s fast-paced world. In response, many turn to meditation and related practices with limited long-term success.

Oscar Segurado, MD, PhD, understands why. Meditation worked well for thousands of years, but can’t counter the effects of life in the twenty-first century. Instead, you need a new approach to control anxiety, especially given the proven connection between stress and serious diseases, including cancer, caused by a dysfunctional immune system.

A mere fifteen minutes of mindful framing in the morning creates a solid mental framework for the rest of the day. You are the screenwriter and director of a lifestyle movie leading to a calm mind, healthy relationships and a vigorous body.

It’s a modern world. We need a modern way to transform anxiety into vital energy. Segurado offers the mindful framing.

I am a physician scientist living in the San Francisco Bay area with decades of experience in neuroscience and immunology and over 100 scientific and news articles in top-rated journals as Nature and Lancet, also a veteran of the biopharmaceutical industry. I have always been interested on how the interaction of the mind with the nervous and immune systems affects our wellbeing, especially anxiety.

When my fast-paced life was rocked with painful events affecting two close family members, I questioned everything about my life while developing unbearable levels of anxiety. I realized that my approach to life had to change, starting a search for meaning.

I had high-performing anxiety, always on edge, eager to add checkmarks to my personal and professional to-do and bucket lists. Possessions, vacations, entertainment were transitory fixes, "trivial pursuits." I was not a true caregiver for key people in my life. I was not taking proper care of my emotional and physical needs.

I gave myself this prescription: Stop doing. Let it be. Let it go. Less is more. That's when I decided to address my anxiety reflecting deeply, looking for answers inside myself, returning to my roots as a young doctor passionate for psycho neuro immunology and integrative medicine, unearthing the best or Western and Eastern medical practices.

This was definitely a new approach to dealing with anxiety that I hadn't come across previously. I appreciate the metaphor story, for sure, it made me rethink some things. It's a short read but you need time to digest everything and try it yourself. For someone who has an overreactive immune system, this is a technique worthy to be tested.

One of the worst books I've ever read. It turned out to be a kind of infomercial for NEO Chi, the author's method for achieving mental and physical health. Not only is the book poorly written, but the approach itself is a random concoction of everything from Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, to meditation, Buddhism and everything in between. Extremely superficial and possibly harmful approach to anxiety and related disorders. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

I won this book as a Goodreads Giveaway.

Due to ny anxiety, I thought this would be a great insight into coping skills and knowledge of the disorder. However, I was unable to keep my attention on the book and lost interest

Kind of hokey with the parallel detective story. Was able to read in one sitting, but didn’t really connect with the material.

Simple y creativo.

Con una técnica de visualización sencilla en 15 minutos puedes sentirte mejor.

Promete bastante así qué hay que poner en práctica lo que recomienda si se quiere saber si es efectivo su programa NEO Chi.

Mindful Framing is a succinct, unique, and intriguing book. It is designed to help readers transform their modern world anxiety into what the author calls vital energy. Drawing from his vast background as a neuroscientist and immunologist, the author, Oscar Segurado, takes a courageous step past the ancient practices of meditation and yoga to create a new mental framework intended to cultivate peace of mind and a vibrant, healthy life. Segurado succeeds with this book in that he delivers a practical, informative, and clear technique, equipped with visualizations and fueled by his intimate knowledge of the body mind and nature connection. I applaud his willingness and devotion to creating a new paradigm to help so many people suffering from anxiety and other disruptive emotional imbalances owing to our frenetic modern world. Does this technique work? That remains for me to know. However, it is worth exploring! Thanks to the author for taking this step and sharing his journey.

*I was gifted a paperback book in return for an honest review.

I received this book as an advanced reader's copy also with the high demand of the meditation, strong mindset development and yoga books. This book was short and sweet and offered easy and helpful tips to reset your mind to ease anxiety. As a former patient suffering from anxiety, I was able to really appreciate this book and the tips and advice Oscar Segurado was able to offer. Not only will our patrons appreciate a book like this, I just might end up getting myself a copy. 5 stars!

NEUROSCIENCE MIXED MINDSET SHIFTING

I bought this book on Amazon Kindle and found many great practices to rewire our body and mind through Mindfulness training and simple neuroscience hacks.

Every morning, after I open my eyes, I'll say my gratitude chants to my God and saying 'thank you' to all of my body parts also my organ. It only needs 5-10 minutes to do it. After Subuh praying, I meditate or just simply laying down and regulate my breath. It adjusts my mindfulness and I'm ready to write, exercise, and preparing myself before going to my office.

This book also shows us the importance of a quiet morning routine. The writer uses an interesting narrative to teach how our mindset and five senses can strengthen our neurons and nervous system. It brings a great impact to our health. It's reminded me of my own private class, Mindset Shifting.

Anxiety and stress plague millions, but these bug-bears need not be all negative. In Mindful Framing, Oscar Segurado shows how to use modern meditation and visualization techniques to transform anxiety and stress into effective energy. Accessible to anyone, and requiring as little as 15 minutes per day, these techniques can help anyone deal with the strains of modern life, and emerge a healthier, more mindful person.

While the book is in large part a promotion of the NEO-Chi technique of meditation, this in no wat detracts from its value. It has something for almost everyone, and for the harried person having difficulty coping, is a recommended read.

I received a free copy of this book.

A unique approach to meditation, using a fictional story about a crime scene investigator which is actually a metaphor for the human immune system. I haven't had a chance to actually go through the meditation yet (the book includes a "script" and there are also audio versions available on the author's website — the idea is to do it enough times so you memorize the story and no longer need guidance) so I can't say how effective it is, but as I read, I was excited by the way Segurado ties together mental/emotional health, physical health, sensory awareness, and our connectedness to the world (nature) around us, as the link between these things is something I've been focusing on a lot already. The book was free on Amazon, so I wasn't expecting much, but I certainly found it of value.

I received Mindful Framing as a goodreads giveaway, I am very open to the the importance of slowing down and taking time for self care. I can tell the difference when being overwhelmed to stop and get in touch with myself better to relax. It has great tips to be proactive in coping with stress and anxiety. Great read for whoever is looking to find a natural way to deal with the high stress environment we live in today, often with unrealistic expectations. Many people can benefit from meditation and taking the needed time for selfcare.

Mindfulness is not my 'thing.' I believe in the value of thought, reflection, silence and making choices.

This book addresses strategies to manage anxiety. The techniques deployed have value. The emphasis placed on making decisions is clear and strong. The movement into the 'Neo Chi Lifestyle' is less convincing and valuable.

While quite simplistic, this book was both interesting and informative. I like that the author is a proponent of not simple meditation, but rather an entire shift in lifestyle. I'm looking forward to reading it again and this time putting some of his techniques into practice. I recommend it if you're at all interested in making some potentially lasting changes in your life and want a way to deal with the various obstacles life might bring your way.

Mind body connection easily described

I enjoyed how this easy read really did drive the point across how our bodies need balance in virtually everything in order to be fully and vitally healthy. If you want this for yourself this book will show you how to get there.

Lost

The writing was all over the place. I couldn't follow one train of thought without trying to figure out what I was trying to tie the current thought to.

I had high hopes, but if you're looking for a book to help you train your mind in a certain way, this book is not it!

Good

Good book, experience is the best teacher. Read it yourself to make your own decision on the quality of this book. The information provided in this book is only as impact full as the reader's mindset will allow. Good luck!

Overall vibe is light and easy to digest. I appreciate the simplicity of the language approaching neuroscience and immunology concepts for those without any medical background. It’s a gentle intro to mindfulness and self-awareness.

El contenido es demasiado simple. Trató de presentarlo de una manera amena y fácil de entender, pero la verdad es que quedó muy lejos. Las ideas no tenían una secuencia clara, fue algo muy superficial. Aportó muy poco, esperaba mucho más.
