Skylar Ross and Rex Larson just settled into a new way of life when a simple mistake changes everything. General Bill Mallor, Skylar’s Godfather, should have been a welcome sight when he and his men roll into town and save them. Instead, he becomes her biggest threat and enemy when he snatches control of AIRIA and evicts her from the only home she knows. She has to come to grips with the fact that she’s just a powerless teenager with no weapons. She has no hope of beating him. Joslin Frost should have died with everyone else the day the bombs dropped, but the General’s son dragged her into a bunker. Thrown into a war, she experiences the hellish nightmare of the lower levels of AIRIA East. She survives by hiding and becoming a ghost. Her hatred for the General has her playing the long game to bring the great man down. She’s a teenager just like Skylar but she’s not powerless and she has the biggest weapon of all…the truth.
Theresa Shaver lives in South Central Alberta Canada. As an avid reader, I used to dream about writing and sharing my own stories with the world. Publishing was a far off and intimidating goal until Amazon opened the gates! I love that I get real feed back from my fans on my books instead of some guy behind a desk who studies market trends. I write to share my dreams with the world and now I can. My first series is a Young Adult Post-apocalypse story. I love writing about the growth of characters faced with such huge challenges and plan to continue future stories in wrecked worlds. It's a new do it yourself world in so many industries so never stop believing in your dreams and do it yourself!
I love this series. Some series just go on without really progressing much but this one has held my attention the entire time. I can hardly put it down to do my life.
Nuclear winter, a girl in a bunker her father took her to before he died, and a little brother she raised after she helped her mother give birth to him and then she bled to death. Quite a start, right? For seven years she is alone in this bunker with her growing little brother Ben and an AI named Airia. Then she decides to let someone into her bunker, against her father's instructions. Bad news. She isolates herself again. Then she lets a group of people in, reluctantly but knowing she and Ben will be better off with other people and the bunker was built for many people to survive there indefinitely. All goes fairly well. Then the general who built the bunkers for the government and let Skylar's father be in charge of it comes to claim what he believes is his. Skylar's life is turned upside down, along with her little brother and the friends she has made. They are all forced outside into tents. The nuclear winter has past. Skylar and her brother have not been outside for 7 years. She is the one who filed the cow, cared for the chickens, the gardens and everything that kept it running all that time. She gets no respect or consideration. We meet another girl, Joslin and her friend/family Jackson, who have survival stories of their own. Joslin turns out to be exceptional brilliant and has come with the General, although she was not a supporter. She has isolated herself from the chaos in their bunker and taught herself coding, math and completed high school by age 13 I think. Very young. She has been watching Skylar for years, so she knows Sky but Sky does not know her.
This is one heck of an apocalypse/dystopian tale and I am now on the fourth book. Sorry if I mixed some of that story into this one. They all go together perfectly. Some series don't seem to fit all the books in the series together seamlessly, almost like they are trying to keep it going and it feels forced and artificial. This story continues organically and I actually hope this story will continue in a fifth book. I can't often say that.
Sun and Smoke (Endless Winter #3) — Theresa Shaver (Two interludes + 17 chapters) January 15-17, 2020
This book feels more like book 1. Jackson and Joslin are introduced and the reader gets the backstory on the beginning of their seven years. The pace and action is fast, if not more heartbreaking than Sky and Benny’s life due to the different circumstances. I couldn’t wait to get to the end of this book only because I really want to see how the author was going to tie it all together in book 4. But then everything seems resolved at the end of book 3....despite the subtle cliffhanger.
Sun & Smoke gives us closure on the story of Skylar Ross and her friends. Despite the harsh conditions left after the bombs fell, Skylar has persevered and kept her brother safe. With the help of some new friends, she hopes the General won't destroy all her hard work.
I have read everything written by Theresa Shaver and have not been disappointed yet. The only downfall was in fortunately the book had to end. I hope there are more in the series there is still a lot more ahead for Skyler, Rex, Joss, Jackson and the rest. I look forward to anything Theresa writes
The military arrives and things should be good. But this is not the happy ending everyone believes it will be. This wakeup call and escape is difficult for everyone. Their lives got hard quickly when help arrived. I thought this would be the last book, but there is another.
Read all three of these series and they are so good,l hope to see a fourth one to find out how they are doing and surviving thank you Theresa shave r for another wonderful series
Sometimes we get it wrong and those we think are out friends who want to help us and support us, don't. But then someone who we think is an enemy gives us the best support of all.
When ever I read a book by Theresa Shaver, I feel like I never want it to end! She is a great writer, and I would probably read anything she wrote. Lol! Anything she writes is highly recommended by me!
I binge read the Stranded series and now just finished the Endless Winter series its 2am and time for bed. Theresa is a very addictive writer and has given me many hours of reading enjoyment. I am now a lifelong fan!
How do you give 1/2 star? I want to rate 4 1/2 stars. I won't give 5 only because I don't think there is any story that is perfect.....but this comes close. Love this series!

Great addition to the Endless Winter Novels by Theresa Shaver! I really liked getting to meet Joslin and Jackson in this book and see how they interact with Skylar and the gang.
