After waking up in the hospital with a huge six month blank where my memory was supposed to be, I have three questions that need answering, like, yesterday.
1. Why was I, a woman, who has never taken so much as an overnight camping trip found bruised and battered on a river bank in the middle of nowhere?
2. What took place over the six months I can't recall?
And obviously the most important question of all...
3. Who is the father of the baby now growing inside of me?
I return to my life in Kansas, determined to find out what (and who) happened to me there. And the answer to all my questions turns out to be big, bad and sexy all over.
HIM:
I knew I had no business messing with her from the moment we met. I don't do complicated and she's a walking, talking (way too much) Complication.
Friends with benefits. That was all we were supposed to be. We even had a list of rules.
This is the story of how we ended up breaking single one.
Readers BE WARNED: If you’re not ready to go on a wild ride with a big bad Nightwolf and the daughter of one of the most popular 50 States couples of all time, DO NOT one-click this book!!!
Theodora Taylor writes hot books with heart. When not reading, reviewing or writing, she enjoys spending time with her amazing family, going on dating nights with her wonderful husband, and attending parties thrown by others.

WOW-WEE--- vivid writer, Theodora Taylor has done it again with "KNUD, Her Big Bad Wolf: 50 Loving States, Kansas." It's truly a mouth-watering page-turner from the VERY start with hilarious banter, memorable characters (past and present), mystery and smexy as all get out from the infamous Russians and the brooding alpha wolves... just a memorable coupling!!!!!!!!!!! And that amnesia angle... fantastic! Did I remember to say it was hilarious too with T... NOPE I won't say her name! Read it for yourself!
So you all this is again another must read to all who love the drama and magic that TT brings out of her characters! You will love Layla and KNUD together!!
I usually try to finish books that don't really hold my attention but I couldn't with this one. In my honest opinion, Ms. Taylor should break away from the whole 50 Loving States and crossing over characters from one series to another. Its not needed. She's proven to be a very gifted and prolific writer with a vivid (and I mean vivid) imagination. I'd like to see a whole new series that didn't involve familiar characters or the off-spring of those characters. Again, its not needed. Please do not use my less-than positive review as a reason not to buy her books. Ms. Taylor tells a great a story, its just that this one didn't do it for me.
3.5. I think I'm going to go back to Theodora's contemps. Her shifter romances stress me out so bad. LOL. This one was another wild ride. Crack fic at it's finest.
Theodora knocked this one out of the park. I thoroughly enjoyed this story about two complete opposites throwing conventionality on its head, in a manner of speaking. The club hook-up banter is hilarious. This author redeemed herself after what happened in that final scene in His to Own which had me reeling for days.
It was nice to catch up with past characters and their now adult children. I'm looking forward to reading Rafes' Story as well as Alma's Story in the near future.
This is a really entertaining love story. Going in to the book, I was really curious about Knud. TT readers have likely read Nago's story and we've seen bits of Rafes peppered in a couple of stories so Knud was the wildcard triplet. This story didn't disappoint and as an added bonus, it features the eldest daughter of the couple from one of her very first books, "Her Russian Billionaire," as Knud's true love. That made me a happy camper although that aspect also wasn't without drama too. No spoilers.
I don't want to give away too much of Knud and Layla's courtship as it's a gem to go into with no expectations, except to say it isn't AT ALL conventional. Knud is a grade-A commitment-phobe and Layla is... unique... for legitimate reasons. Knud is a lone wolf; reserved and intelligent, he's not one to build relationships plus he runs from the ones established already. Living under a fake name and alienating himself from his family, Knud is doing all he can to float through life without any emotional entanglements. Layla isn't his complete opposite but her personality is such that she talks A LOT. She's smart and compassionate but her facade gives off the appearance that she's a naive pushover. Yet Layla is definitely her father's daughter in some ways. Knud and Layla's courtship has many hiccups along the way, most simply because neither really calls it a relationship even when it grows into something much more complicated than its origin.
I really liked this couple and overall story. I even laughed out loud a few times during their interactions because the natural comedic exasperation and confusion between them felt so real. Also, there was a moment when Knud's response to a situation was basically acting like his father that it took me back to the book of his parents' love story for a minute. I really enjoyed seeing the next generation characters from four of the author's previous books. Knud and Layla are a totally unconventional couple but they click as the they complement each other very well. You can't help but root for them since each seems to need the other even when they don't recognize it.
One of the most interesting things to me is that Knud is an aggressive human, but his wolf is a sap whereas Nago is a congenial human but his wolf is very fierce. I am curious where Rafes' wolf will fall since readers have seen that Rafes' human is Type A no-nonsense kind of fellow.
Unpopular opinion, but my reaction while reading was "What is this?". I enjoy Theodora's contemporary, and have also gotten into her shifters. Kids of favorite characters from past books, with different tones, and world building come together. This mashup of the two was not the business. Looking at my friends' reviews, I'm on an island alone.
This one didn't work for me. It didn't make me feel much and some of it was OTT. I didn't really care for the male MC. I couldn't empathise with him and didn't care for his "trauma". That part wasn't really done well. As for their "love" .. again, I didn't see it.
This is the first miss I had with this author but also the first of her books that had a fantasy element.
Our lone wolf Knud, has created a whole life for himself away from the Knightwolf name and his past that haunts him as a former black ops Marine. He's now a pediatric surgeon, oddly enough at the persistence of his wolf. After pushing everyone out of his life for the fear of his severe mood disorder, he spent his days trying to avoid as little stimulation as possible that might upset his emotional imbalance. But he soon finds out that he can't push everyone away, when he meets Layla, a social worker in a residency program. The quirky yet charming former First daughter of a familiar couple who make an appearance.
Our quintessential couple have both moved to Kansas in order to find themselves and be beyond the reach of their loving yet meddlesome families. And starting out with a relationship meant to be strictly about sex, the walls between these two quickly tumble down as they throw caution to the wind. It was an old trope revamped to become something so refreshing as to see two completely opposite personalities mesh so well together. Layla is bubbly and sweet, but with a grounded sense of self. And Knud, a rough around the edges and introverted bad boy (with a soft at heart wolf), yearning to make up for the lives taken by his hand.
But trouble comes in the form of Layla being a human and Knud being a wolf, and the laws that discourage their mate bond. As soon as these fated mates acknowledge their love, in a blink, things go south and Layla loses her memory. And as these two go to great lengths to find each other, decisions must be made. It was another good read with lovable characters. Knud and Layla quickly became a favorite within the first few chapters.
This was another winner from Theodora Taylor. Ms Taylor's characters just pop off the page and they will not let you put the book down until they have finished telling their story. Knud and Layla keep you entertained from beginning to end. As expected from this author you have this unusual coupling that leads to a roller coaster ride of drama, action, and a intense passionate connection that feeds your need for a great but out of the ordinary romance. This is another favorite added to my 50 Loving States reading list and will definitely be at the top of my read again list. I gave this one 5 stars.
Wow, I did not like this book. This is the 2nd one about the triplets. Nor did I like the 1st book. I will not read the 3rd book - this is for sure. What did I not like were: the homosexual references, the extreme details, and the overall writing style. The book seemed rushed and thrown together. I won't read anymore books by this author.
The one thing that really just did not work for me was the flow. The alternating chapters of past and present was too much for me, because the tense would change too. When the past flashbacks stopped, I was able to enjoy the book more. However the flashbacks stopped over halfway through the book. Also this book is futuristic and not very well explained.
Ms. Taylor had done it again. Another great book by this author. I think this one even surpassed Nago. I liked how she brought characters from the famous Rustanov into play here. Excellent work Ms Taylor this was totally worth my all nighter
One might reasonably ask why I read these books, when I consistently give them a low rating; a rating that in my system of ratings means “fine, but I’m sure you have better things to do” and the answer is a) They’re all about one family and I’m kind of a sucker for those, b) they have novel elements (a diverse cast -including disabled characters, flashes of non-sexism, acknowledging mental heath issues) that, while I’m pretty sure are not accurate nor handled well, at least there there(?) and c) at this moment it’s not so mush that I don’t have better things to do, but sometimes I need a mindless activity as a break. This book specifically is just too long. There was nothing egregiously objectionable, and I will read the next one, but I got very bored and, for now, am putting it down.
And there’s also the fact that I’m trying to be a better saboteur (a word I recently heard used as an alternative to ally - which carry’s the connotation that you’re role is back-up support for the people whose fight it really is), so if I’m my goal is to read something mindless, something i go into knowing it’s not going to be that great (or even that good) what not choose an author of color?
Edit 8/1/20. - OK it’s not that long, but it’s boring so far, so I moved on, for now
As long time fan of Ms.Taylor, it's amazing to read the love story of the not one but two ( one, two) next generation characters. I was so invested in the story, after all I saw both of their parents fall in love. It was like catching up with people you know and adore. With all the warm and fuzzies aside. What an amazingly scorching hot story.
Just when you think you know who your favourite Ms. Taylor book boyfriend is, along comes Knud. Who is complex, fierce and has the sweetest wolf. Layla was amazing, and unique. I expected no less, given who her parents are. Together they were pure magic. So many parts of the story had me on the edge of my seat. Surprise after surprise. Couldn't put it down. The most disappointing part was "the end". I await the story of Rafe but I have no earthly idea how she can top Knud, but dammit if I'm not beyond excited to see her try!!!
APB Perspective Reviews Knud❤️ I remember when he was a pup and he had a hard time changing . The author is a very clever lady , the way she brought that forwarded to this book , the way she explained it to help us understand Knud's mood disorder . The second book I read by Theodora was Her Russian Billionaire, Alexi and Eva are one of my favorite couples , it was so nice to catch up with them .The way the two storyline blended into a paranormal love story was perfect . Knud and Layla have a very sexy relationship at the beginning , and as it turns to something more you will squirm, smile and laugh like I did . I smiled so hard when when the families met , It felt like visiting old friends that you love . How do being two people who are worlds apart together and make it believable ? Theodora did , and it a five star story .
"“The point is we can make this happen without exchanging names or personal details. We can keep it as anonymous as we want. When you get the itch, you text me. When I get the urge, I text you. What do you think?”
“What do I think?” she repeated. “What do you think I think about having a no-strings-attached, sex-only relationship with a domineering guy whose name I can’t remember?”
If she’d been a normal woman he’d suppose that she thought he was crazy for even asking. But because this was her he guessed, “Hell yeah?”
“Heck yes!” she answered with another enthusiastic clap. “I can’t believe I’m going to be anonymous sex buddies with someone!”
“Not buddies,” he reminded her. “We’re not friends.”
“May I call you Buddy?”
“No.”
“It seems only fair since you’ve already given me a nickname, so I’ll take the liberty of calling you Buddy without your permission.”
“Hot Social Worker,” he said, his human already starting to regret this even as his wolf cheered.
“Yes, Buddy?”
“Shut-up.”
And before she could answer he sealed their lips"
I really enjoy this book and I really enjoy that Knud gets his happy ending with Layla. They really deserve one another, and the happiness life bring them.
Sadly reading this book makes me care even more less for his oldest triplet brother, Rafe. He really shows what a jerk he is here, by trying to prevent him from his mate. How can you do that to your brother, after everything he's been through.
It made me really not want to read or find out more about Rafe, but I feel like there is a cause and reason for his to treat his younger brother this way. And that his story maybe a little more sad, and will leave you in heart ache. And I am interested in reading all about it, even if I'm not liking him much in this book or Nago book.
I do love Knud parents and his Aunt and Uncle, I love to read about there story as well since it seems like there is something juicy that happen between the two. I said this also in Nago's book review, but I'm hoping Theodora also written a book about their stories as well. I cannot wait to get my hands on it.
I love Layla, and loved her even more when I find out that not only is she a strong independent woman who will stand up and fight for what right. But she is also the infant baby from Russian Billionaire, and daughter of Eva and Lexi. Who would've thought that she will be the Layla of this book.
And if your like me who read most of Theodora books, and one your favorite series by her is the Russian Billionaire series. You would know that Lexi and Eva are one of my favorites characters from that series that have three kids, one of them being Layla. I love reading more about Lexi and Eva and to my great amusement they get even more exciting and funnier. I love these two, and Love the fact that Layla is a mixed between them, but more so her mother.
I really enjoy this book and cannot wait to get my hands on Rafe's book since it sounds like his mate, might want to get away from him as fast as she can. And all I can think of "HA! This is what happens when you try to keep your brothers away from there fated Mate. KARMA!"
Kind of disappointing honestly. Rented on KU. Will not be buying.
I liked as always - Taylors inclusion of old familiar and future characters. She is good at blending pre.existing stories well. But thats pretty much all thats good about. There are WAY too many nicknames and fake names and stupid pet names in this book. Especially at the beginning. Makes it really confusing and not very.cohesive. No development on how Knud becomes a doctor or how Layla becomes a social worker. Especially after the bomb drops on who she is towards the end. It makes no sense. And Taylors introduction/creation of this High Media way of speaking.. Wow. laylas character was REALLy annoying and unlikable at the start. I read the whole thing because Im normally a big fan of taylors work. There have been a few misses but only like 3 or 4 and she has written over 20 books (most in this series). There was just no character development for me... Seems like this was just a story held together by the hope that the reader knows the other characters from her previous books that were good. Part 3 and the ending were so... Abrupt and strangely written. Very disjointed. Ive reread a ton of Taylors 50 Loving States books before but this is a 1 and done. 50 Loving States I advise to avoid completely 1. The Wild One 2. His For The Summer 3. 12 Days of Krista 4. This book (Knud) 50 Loving States i read once and dont care to read again and i suggest you rent if you must read all of her books to get all the characters and stories 1. His For Keeps (the rest of the Fairgoods are GREAT. His To Own is my favorite) 2. Her Russian Beast (The rest of the Russians are GrEAT. Her Russian Surrender is my favorite followed closely by Her Russian Billionaire featuring the Layla from this books parents. Russian Brute is pretty good -its a play on the Beauty and the Beast story)
OH MY WOW you will enjoy this captivating story! It has awesome characters with great chemistry. This has some exciting and thrilling romance! They will bring a smile to your face because their relationship which is such a delight and great to read. It's such a pleasurable experience. Even the secondary characters are nice. There is one thing I wish for and that is for more because I hate for a great thing to end. But overall these are what I have come to expect from this author romances which l enjoy. Of course I couldn't put my reader down I was so into how their love evolved. Believe me when I say they are so captivating that you will want to read them more than once. Its a great love affair that gives you that happy feeling as the couple you are reading about meet and fall in love. I have really enjoyed this series because it's written with such extraordinary imagination that makes them such a pleasure and beautiful story to read. If I could I would give them ten stars I most surely would because they are for sure a five star series. 😍❤!
What a disappointment. I couldn’t get past when he asks his mate for a one night stand then says, “ if you don’t want to, I can find someone else”, then she stills says yes!!!!! Then after he takes her home, he wants to send her home and is still is wanting to go back to the club to find another girl to fu$k. She has no self respect and he’s a loser playboy. Nobody wants that in a mate. No respect and disgusting as heck! One of the worst mate romances I’ve read and I’ve read hundreds. Once a mate meets the other, their desire for others should disappear even if they haven’t figured out that their mates. All others don’t matter. This was a disgrace to paranormal mates romances since the most special thing about mates is the loyalty and how they don’t even look at others with desire after meeting. Their is only their mate, even if they want to be in denial, there should be ZERO thoughts of screwing others women
Quirky characters, an intriguing storyline and a futuristic setting? Yep, I was all in for this one. And it was good from start to finish. I loved L-Heart and Dr. Thug!
I was blown away when I found out who Layla really was. And her parents! But the scene where Knud is reunited with his family had me screaming! His mom and aunt were doing the most, in the best, funniest way! There's nothing like Black mamas!
I've got so many good books on my Kindle that I'm looking forward to reading, but no lie, this book has me tempted to go back and reread at least the Viking Wolves series again. I think I'll settle for the Alaskan Princesses Trilogy since I don't seem to have read Tu and Grady's story.
Ms. Taylor bringing her two genres together was a brilliant idea. And very well done. Can't wait for whatever is next!
Three words for this story, odd, awkward, and frustrating. I couldn't really enjoy it because it went back and forth between the past and present, but too there was amnesia thrown in, the girl doesn't know about werewolves but when she finds out her boyfriend is one, she takes off running, scared and gets injured after diving into a river to escape. Layla wakes up with amnesia then we go back and forth in the timeline until the past meets the present and Knud is infiltrating Layla's house to find her. Everyone is majorly important, we're talking high society between the two and their families. Other details are thrown in the mix, couldn't see why we spent so much time on Layla's parents' relationship, why the author played into stereotypes about Knud, etc.
The thug doctor and the American princess are my new fab couple. It was good to see some familiar faces surface in this story, and ingenious of Theodora to weave in that surprise. She took me back to the original reason I started reading her books, and counting the states in our great union. Loved the way this story addresses that slippery slope of right and wrong...even if you do the wrong thing for the "right" reason. Oh, and the HAWT shifter sex. Can wait for the next one!
This is my review and how I see it. The author has provided a free copy of her work in exchange for an honest review. Author Theodora Taylor has done it once again in her 50 Loving States series. This is the story of Knud, the second son of the triplets of Rafe and Alisha Nightwolf. Appearances of old favorites in this unique story where a one-night stand turns into something more and is not without it turns and hilariously funny parts.
Rafes is getting on my last nerves, he is really a high strung bully. Well, he tries to bully his relatives.
Hero=5/5 Heroine = 4/5 Chemistry = 3/5 Sex = 4/5 Plot = 4/5 Mystery = 4/5 Action = 3/5 Humor = 3/5 POV = dual Would I recommend this book = yes Would I re-read this book = yes Would I read future books by this author = yes,yes & yes Comments: She is my favorite interracial author. I love the fact my characters are realistic. From having autism to having bipolar issues.I love it all and I would like to thank you for having books on Kindle Unlimited. I will be reading as many as I can even if I have to go out of order.
Hilarious. Crazy. Fun. Wild ride. Perfect match. Can't wait for book 3. Love Knud's crazy. Love the real Layla. More than I expected and that is saying alot bc I like most of Ms. Taylor's books and I have read most of her books. Highly recommend this book. Will keep you laughing, none stop. Layla is exactly what Knud's special brand of crazy needs and Knud's realness is exactly what perfect princess Layla needs. Bring on book 3. Rafesson needs to be brought down a beg and snapped back to reality. Can't wait for the super hot Myrna to do just that.
WOW. just wow. I have read almost all the books in the 50 loving states series. But I didn't even see Layla Rustanov daughter of Eva St. James making a debut! This was a very well written novel. I fell in love with bad ass Knud and prissy proper Layla.
The contrast and crazy inter species dynamic was WOAH! I honestly was a bit confused about how she began to turn. I mean is she a dormant werewolves? Or when you mate with a wolf does that trigger something in certain human? I mean besides that the story blended well and loved to see the Alaskan family updated 40 years ago.
