Nineteen years have passed since the end of the Great War. Tabitha, Brint, and Holly live lives of peace and safety, until Aesri invites them to the home of the fairies for a visit. It soon becomes clear there is more to her request than she has led them to believe.
When disaster strikes, they must make choices that will impact more lives than their own. One path is paved with riddles and shadows, the other, fear and destruction. The question is, how much are they willing to sacrifice? What price is too high to pay in order to save a life, or a hundred, or a thousand?
As the prophecy unfolds, new love blooms and tentative friendships unfold, and they learn that no obstacle is insurmountable, as long as they are together. When they can't go back, the only way through is forward.
Christine Grey lives in Wisconsin with her husband, Dan, and their eight children, three dogs, and two cats. With a family like that, she knows how important it is to escape from reality from time to time. She and her husband have grown their family through foster care adoption and are advocates for helping children find the permanency and support they all deserve. When she isn’t busy chasing children, running a household, or savoring a hot cup of tea, Christine spends her free time creating worlds of magic, romance, and humor.
Two levels to this story, a sequel, not a stand alone. One is the surface, a great adventure story, the second is the deeper, contemplative theories about life, friendship, love and spiritual understanding
This series has told a fascinating take across these volumes. Each of the first three can be read in order, each leaving the reader at natural breaks in the overall tale. This volume (IV) seems shorter and leaves the reader almost mid-action. Perhaps I just read this volume faster as it revealed much more about the dragon, Brin, and his relationship with the fairies.
One thing is certain, you are going to want Volume V handy as you finish this one. It's almost like leaving in the middle of a battle. You will want to know what happens next.
