My book came without the “bodice ripper “ cover and was one of the best romance novels I read back in 1982. Those types of books became very popular back then but this book was not in that genre. It was SO much more and became a catalyst to finding more books like it. The character of AJ and dealing with his rage against his aging body in the face of his young sons . A real character who I cared about who wasn’t even the main focus of the book. If you find this old gem don’t pass it by .
I always like this book. Set in Colorado in some indefinite time between 1920-1950. It doesn't matter. The Stinsons are a fiery family and Rinie walks into the flames after she marries Carl. While Rinie, as a character, is somewhat lacking in strength, the other characters are well drawn. The conversations are often hilarious. The love, laugh, fight, and grieve as a family. It is worth the read.
My copy of this book doesn't have a cover that screams "romance!" I read this book because it's set in Colorado, but I don't remember anything about it. I wonder if I still own it ...
