When Cora's parents are killed by hunters she ends up in the care of the Alpha, however, Raymand prefers to raise his own children. When he meets Maple during her interaction with Cora the wills of two strong wolves, a mating bond and hunters may put Raymand's life in perspective.

At 2 a.m., Raymand was awakened by Drake, his second in command, delivering a 7-year-old girl whose parents had been killed deliberately by hunters. This was not the first such situation, but usually after the parents were killed, the child disappeared. This time, Cora had been playing in her treehouse and her mom had told her to run to Drake or the alpha’s house if the killers ever came. She had no information for them, but Raymand knew he needed to find her a family to care for her while he tried to track down the killers.
Drake, their pack lawyer, was meeting with Maple today. Her aunt had willed her a bookstore and Maple was having issues with the strip mall lease owner who didn’t want to sign with a werewolf. Maple got out of her truck and scented an alpha, which caused her to panic. She was not properly dressed for meeting her new alpha and hoped he was not with her lawyer. But, of course, he was. Maple first met Cora in the waiting room. She sensed her sadness and comforted the little girl. When the alpha walked out, Maple looked him directly in the eyes – a challenge which one did not issue with an alpha. Cora wanted to stay with Maple and Maple thought it would help the child. Raymand’s wolf was acting crazy and Raymand’s human side was upset at the direct stare. But with Cora begging to stay with Maple, he gave in but insisted they be at his place by 5:00 for dinner. He kept telling his wolf that maybe she wasn’t his mate, but the wolf joyfully wouldn’t listen.
Cora and Maple worked at cleaning up the book store, but as they were leaving, a man approached. Maple put Cora in the truck and locked it, then faced down the man. He smelled of silver and tried to intimidate her, but she wouldn’t back down. Then they drove to the alpha’s house for dinner. As Maple turned to get a vegetable from the kitchen, she walked right into the alpha’s chest. The electric tingle they both felt left no doubt – they were mates! Now they had 3 days to complete the bond.
Maple took a list Cora had made of things she needed from her old room -- a special blanket, toys, clothes, and such. As Maple was leaving, the same guy from her book store walked in holding a silver knife and demanded to know where Cora was. He climbed the stairs toward her and she punched him, causing him to fall down the stairs and land on his own knife. She quickly returned to Raymand to tell him what happened. Why were they still after Cora? Who were these people? And what would the future be like now for Cora and Maple?
This was a good book, filled with a bit of mystery to keep things interesting. The characters were so much fun to get to know! Maple is feisty and tough, with a ton of love and compassion inside of her. Raymand is the typical alpha who has more than likely met his match in his intended mate! Cora is a sweetheart, spoiled but a good pup and easy to like. Even the secondary characters were well developed. And the story line was well-paced to lead the reader to a resolution of why the hunters are killing and kidnapping children. Grab a copy and find out what’s going on and what happens with Raymand, Maple, and Cora as they try to deal with the changes coming in their lives!

This was a great read, Maple is strong, sassy and knows what she wants but didn't expect to find her mate when she came to town to take over her Aunts book store. Raymand has enough going on with hunters attacking them and stealing the children them bam he meets Maple and he soon sees that not everyone bows down to him. I really liked how Cora stayed apart of the story and not just pushed to the side as in some books so you could connect with them all, you also get to start to know other pack members too. There were questions unanswered but it is the first in the series and I am sure they will be answered s the series goes on.

Maple inherited her aunt;s bookstore in Denver. Unfortunately the lease has a bad clause in it and the owner is doing his best to be unhelpful. Maple heads to the lawyer;s office and while waiting to see the lawyer she meets Cora, the small pup whose parents were killed the night before. Hunters are targeting the wolf community and kidnapping the children.Maple is very sympathetic to Cora and when putting the Alpha, Raymond, in his place about his care of Cora she;s invited to dinner. While there, Maple and Raymond imprint. Things get rather dicey for the alpha and Maple to cement their bonding. On top of that the hunters get more daring. Then Cora is finally taken.

This was such a fantastic read and I also bought this book in iBooks, I’m a big fan of McKayla Schutt’s and I’m always buying her books because they never disappoint and that includes this story as well, I really liked the mystery in this story and that’s what you need in a good book. Cora’s parents have been killed by a hunter and he was looking for her but she was taken to the alpha - Raymond so he could find her a good home. In walks Maple she see’s Cora sitting there and she feels the sadness coming off her so they sit there and bond, when Raymond walks out he had a feeling that Maple was his mate and when they touched he knew for sure that they were mates so they had 3 days to complete the bond / mating. I loved Maple she is such a head strong woman / wolf and she won’t take any crap even from an alpha. I loved this story there’s mystery, danger, drama, love, some hot sizzling scenes and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. A 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

On a visit to the lawyer to see about the book store she inherited from her aunt werewolf Misty meets Alpha Raymond and realizes her new alpha is also her mate. Raymond needs to see his beta about the cases of were parents being killed and their children going missing and at his office meets Misty who he scents as his mate. When Misty meets Cora the daughter of the most recent pair to be killed who had managed to hide and escape she feel a strong connection which result in her moving into the alpha's home. She meets Cora in Drake’s office and instantly feels protective of this small lonely wolf. Maple also meets Raymand at the same time. The attraction is mutual. They both feel the pull and want to touch to see if they are mates. They have three days to complete the bond or both will lose the ability to shift.
This was a fun, fast read. I like that Maple is a strong independent woman. Raymand has everything he needs but will he realize it?

Great Story
Raymand and is the Alpha to a large wolf pack in Denver, in a world where humans know about them. His pack is under attach. Hunters with a new weapon are attacking werewolf families and kidnapping the pups. The latest attack puts 7 year old Cora in his care. A situation he resents.
Maple is new to The Denver pack. Her aunt, left her her bookstore and she jumped at the chance to escape her toxic father. A meeting with the pack lawyer brings her face to face with her new alpha and Cora. Maple feels a strong attraction to the alpha, and a kinship and bond to Cora. Maple finds herself mated to the arrogant and self centered Alpha who wants Cora out of his house.
A Fast paced and steamy romance. Raymand is hard to like. Maple, I loved She doesn't take anything for anybody, including Raymand. Cora is a good kid, who adores Maple. Great Story.

Fantastic start to a new series featuring wolf shifters. The characters are well-developed and run the gambit of emotions in this tale filled with both action and romance. Raymand is the Alpha of the pack and knows that sometimes that means he's got to be tough and gruff. When Cora's parents are killed by hunters she ends up living with the alpha. Maple is looking for a fresh start and quickly finds herself right in the middle of the action. She has an immediate love for Cora and a fierce protectiveness and determination to do whatever is necessary to keep her safe. I loved the friction between Maple and Raymand as their alpha-ness clashes. Raymand may be the Bad Alpha Dad, but watch out for the momma wolf when you mess with her cub!

A new series by this talented author. I have read other books and series by this author and was looking forward to this book. I was not disappointed, this book has all the best qualities that one comes to expect from reading this authors work. There was plenty of action and hot steamy scenes to make this a page turner. The only issue was the Alpha male was a little over the top on the alpha side when it came to little Cora but that can be because he never dealt with children but I wanted to smack him a few times. This book is a must read.

Now if they can find the time to complete the mating before the three day deadline or loss there wolves. But there is the young girl that had lost her parents to the hunters and is staying with the Alpha. And she is a mating block for the Alpha. Hunters are still a problem as well.

This is a well written shifter book that had me hooked from page one to the end. The characters are strong and well developed and the story moves quickly and smoothly and brings drama and intrigue. She gives Maple and Cora an instant bond which pushes her to convince her alpha mate to be a dad to her after her parents are killed.It's an interesting book and I enjoyed reading it.

Love this book so much I had to get the second in the series. Raymand is a strong alpha that finally imprints with the new girl. They are faced with trials and obstacles only wolves can face along with throwing in an orphaned child. This book just has you all over the place emotionally and it keeps you wanting more. Definitely recommend this to anyone that loves heated, drama and shifter romance.

He was shocked about finding his mate finally. After the horrific murder of the little girl's parents he was jealous and selfish 4 a while until she kept at him fighting 4 her. She got kidnapped but momma don't play around when it comes 2 her baby and payback 4 anything that was done 2 her. That baby was early and 2 fast coming into the world. Lol just don't understand why those assholes r stealing the kids and killing their parents and then turn around and torture the kids 4.

The book is good,
But I don't considere it a stand alone as the end didn't give you all the answer and you will have to read the next book in the serie to know what happen to some of the kidnapped kids.
I found the end of the book frustrating as I was expecting the story to be a standalone.

Maple is a pretty alpha female. Raymand is his pack’s alpha. I’m hoping this is the first in a series about the Denver pack. There were many unanswered questions about the hunters. I did enjoy this book very much and am looking forward to reading more from Ms. Schutt.

I really enjoy reading shirfter romances as the males are strong sexy alpha males who are very protective of the mates. I love the characters in this book and I hoe the side chapters get books of their own as there is a loose end so it perfectly set up for so much more to come.

A shifter story of romance and danger. Maple is a strong female and also is an alpha. She doesn’t let anyone step on her or the little orphan girl, Cora. Raymand is the alpha of the pack and if he wants to win Maple’s heart he is going to have to protect both and realize that Cora has already won Maple’s heart.

First time I have read this author.A bit different than other shifter books I have read. Humans going after shifter children and killing parents to do it. Alpha has to take in a child who's parents are killed and he is not too happy about it. Maple is new to town after inheriting her aunt's bookstore and gets involved with the problems in town.

Excellent Story
This was a very interesting take on the bad alpha dad. Kind of sad for the child in the story, but it was a great story. I love how the mates come together, and I love how strong Maple was, also caring. She was the perfect female alpha and I love how she puts her mate and pack Alpha in his place. Makes me laugh and cry a little.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I will defiantly read more. The book well written with vivid characters. The story is full of drama, action, and some steamy passion all tied up with a sweet HEA. If you like a strong shifter make and a smart independent woman this is a must read

I liked this story although it starts off on the heartbreaking side. The Alpha meets a woman who won't bow down to anything. She is strong and opinionated. I loved the interaction between all of them. I can't wait to read more.

Great book
I chose 5 stars as this book about shufters is very different than other books I read. Wolves protecting while humans hunt them. Alpha seemed hard core head strong but yet gentle when came to a child. Maple taking care of her personal issues yet takes on a child to raise. I felt like I was there watching little Cora as I read this book. Can't wait to read more.

A very nice HEA
I liked the book and the characters. It was a slightly different version of werewolf culture than what I have read before but not so much I couldn't keep up with it. It was an interesting story but left a lot of questions to be answered in other books. I hope I have the chance to read them.

I have to say I wasn’t in love with this. So, in this book we are just thrown into the deep end and thrown into a shifter world. We are never really given a background on the world the author is trying to share with us. It made it hard to follow at times. There was some steam but things felt super rushed. Just an okay read for me.
