The Secrets Are Out The life story of a Christ-following girl had been written. It was sent to the publisher just a week before the horrific event on January 15, 2018. Her story of surviving abuse, to holding fast to her faith, to be an overcomer was now forever changed. Her older sister, Louise Turpin, had been arrested on child abuse charges including shackling, starving, and torturing her own children. The case that shocked the world brought a flood of repressed memories to Elizabeth Flores, the sister of Louise Turpin. Her story now had to be infused with the secrets that started to come out. Secrets of a sisterhood. Secrets buried long ago could no longer remain buried.Elizabeth FloresCreative Life Publishing & Learning Institute05/04/2018198Binding Paperback0.60lbs9.00h x 6.00w x 0.42d9781946265173This title is not returnable
This wasn’t to my taste, very religious and the time lines kept jumping and over lapping details with each chapter. Cover lead me to believe this was about the Turpins but it’s about the other sister.
Great encouragement for people dealing with hardship or abuse
Clearly Elizabeth Flores comes from a dualistic and fundamentalist background that so many people associate with phony religion. But, this woman is real. She quotes scripture with great wisdom and true faith. I would recommend her book to any one looking for an uplifting read. You must, however, be gracious enough to accept traces of Appalachia in her grammar. Hats off to a courageous and faithful woman.
Each of the chapters are redundant and tell the same story. This , along with what the author thinks is a corresponding bible verse. It seemed as if wording and verbiage was changed, yet it describes situations addressed in earlier chapters. Very disappointing read!!
I admired Elizabeth’s faith and ability to cling to Christ despite the never ending bad situations that happened in her life. I did find it to be not overly beneficial of a read if you’ve read the story of the Turpin Case. This felt almost like the spark notes version except it included her faith and encouragement
The story was never not as inspirational as the author would like to believe. Only read if you like to read scripture. There was not much in hatred about any Sisters Secrets.
Life is different for everyone. This book speaks of courage and so many other things that the author has endured in her life. I think it helps to learn about the subjects the author talks about so that we can not only understand what others experience but also so that we can do something to prevent the atrocities that children are subjected to. Life is good and we all need to learn how to be better to everyone in our lives.
