Kingdom of Veronia #1

Perry and Her Princes

Rate this book
Perry's lineage constitutes an only God knows how many times 'great' grandfather who settled in Tennessee after the potato famine in Ireland, and a great grandmother who escaped the Nazis before the war.
She's farmer stock. And has the hips to prove it.
Still, lineage doesn't mean much when it comes to friends. Especially college friends. So, when a Prince of Veronia comes to Boston, attends her college, and just happens to make her acquaintance, who's she to judge when a friendship is born?
And who's to question why, when years later, they're more like family than anything else?
Even if that's way more platonic than she'd like.
She'd hump George DeSauvier six ways 'til Sunday if he'd let her, but, as far as she can tell, he only sees her as a 'chum'.
Little does she know.
George DeSauvier is the second in line to the throne of Veronia, a tiny country, nestled between Italy, France, and Austria. Being a royal means nothing to him, not with the price it comes at, but to his brother? The heir? It's everything.
Back in the day, Edward DeSauvier had been a wild child, and together, they'd discovered they had a penchant for sharing the women they bedded.
All these years later, George has decided it's time to start up that little habit of theirs again.
With Perry in the middle.
Trouble is, Perry doesn't even know George wants her. Never mind his brother.
And when a cousin of theirs, Xavier, accidentally gets thrown into the mix, Perry's suddenly up to her eyeballs in DeSauvier royals.
It's a hard life for some being surrounded by regal hunks, that is, of course, until the doodah hits the fan, and anti-Royal sentiment reaches a peak in Veronia once more.
Will fear of loss make Perry take the next step into a very complicated future? Or, will the sheer need she feels for three very different men be all that's required...?
Find out in PERRY AND HER PRINCES.

Though I am not exactly sure where this story fits in with the other in the reading order, it is still a cute story.
It's not as riveting as the other books I read in the order but I would still recommend it to my!y followers and friends... but if you are going to read this book, make.sure you follow the authors suggestion.
Atm, I may not see the connection but that doesn't mean it's not there...

This is a fun reverse harem romance, Perry is best friends with George, who it turns out is a crown prince. When he takes her back to his kingdom as a specialist regarding their droit problem George has plans, but even the best laid plans can go awry

I really enjoyed the storyline, the characters are fun, and all have their own personalities. Perry is quite a straightforward say it as it is girl who does not realise how lovely she is. I am very much looking forward to book two

Contemporary RH done right

A bit of the prince & me spiced with the gorgeous nerd girl from the princess diaries - and a complicated RH element as well! Unique and refreshing, it tackles desire along with political realities few of us consider.

Pros:
- Well written
- love a long term friend with the secret love
- Science for the win
- FMC is older than the typical 18-21 fare, considering she has a bloody doctorate!

Cons:
- Love George.... not sure I fully understand him.

Not sure about this. First the book needs to be formatted correctly. Lose the double spaces in between paragraphs. The story flow feels off. It’s stilted. There’s little chemistry between the characters.

I stopped after finishing chapter 16, with four more chapters to go. DNF. It doesn't make sense to me that the moment she hears that their lives could be in danger from rebel anti-royals, she decides that these men are hers and how dare anyone threaten or hurt them. Then the king says George will have to stay in Veronia instead of going back to the US. I think she was just terrified of losing George, so she blurted out that she and Edward were dating.

It's absurd cos there may be chemistry between her and Edward, but they don't even know each other. She has years of history with George being her best friend, and she connected and has many things in common with Xavier, George's cousin. But she and Edward don't seem to have anything in common at all.

I also don't like that she actually loves George but will have to be Edward's wife, just because he's the crown prince and he needs to have an heir. George will become her dirty little secret. She and George are so close and know each other so well, but how is this going to affect their closeness? It's just not fair to either of them. Can she even spend the night with him? Surely not, because palace staff will talk. They'll have a lifetime of quick interludes, can't even hold hands in public, probably can't even look at each other in public because their eyes and expressions would give each other away. How is that any way to live?

I don't like that George, Edward, and Xavier all agree that she doesn't have the bearing of a queen -- too outspoken, too informal, too open. George claims this is why she's a breath of fresh air, but all this is going to be drummed out of her the moment she's required to take lessons in deportment and protocol. It's going to make her question herself and become a version of all the courtiers they so despise. In effect, they're going to kill or at least suppress the part of her which makes her so unique and charming. Basically, it's like getting the toy you most coveted and then breaking it in half.

But her taking off her shoes in front of the Kong and queen the first time they meet her -- that was absurd and I thought the author went too far in trying to portray her as someone who doesn't stand on ceremony and doesn't care about convention. No one would ever do that, no matter how uneducated they were about royal etiquette, and no matter how uncaring they were about trying to impress the king and queen. I don't care how much her feet hurt, it just didn't make sense for her to do that. I could see her slipping them off under the table during the reception and then having trouble finding them again, that would be normal. But not taking them off and blithely telling the queen that she had to or she would fall over, no.

George doesn't act like a man in love. I really feel like he was manipulative and he threw Perry into the deep end without preparing her. They all say that she has a choice, but she's feeling pressured because she's also told that if she doesn't accept Edward, she can never change her mind again. And George pressures her in his own way by saying that sharing a woman with his brother is something he needs and that he wants to make his brother happy. He never once focuses on what he wants to give HER or why this would be great for HER. It's all just about him and his brother and how they always shared until his brother got married and it's something he misses, something he knows his brother needs to make him happy in a life filled with duty and responsibility. He doesn't even tell her that he knows she read those ménage books and that he would love to fulfill her fantasy. No, his focus is not on her or what she wants and needs AT ALL. It's selfish.

The only guy I liked here was Xavier. He didn't have his own agenda. I wasn't sure I liked Perry propositioning him the first night they met. It seemed out of character for her, although they did 'click' almost immediately and have a lot to talk about. But he's a good guy, he likes Perry, he's straightforward with her in a way that George wasn't.

Edward, at this point, is charmed by Perry and physically attracted to her but not even very fond of her yet. So I like even less that Perry decides to announce that they are dating. If they'd at least kissed, then maybe I could understand it: something to make me understand why she feels so drawn to him. It feels like he doesn't think of Perry as a person. The vibe I get is that she's this chick he's attracted to, that he knows his brother loves, and suddenly he's hot to f*ck her because he hasn't shared a woman with his brother for so long. She's just a body to him. Conveniently someone that his brother wants, and longs to share with him, and he's just going along for the ride.

So I don't feel it's worth continuing with this series. Gonna find something else to read.

Surprises

I love that Perry isn't like most women written about in books, she's like the average woman, or what most women are like. She has curves, isn't very tall and speaks her mind. She's not afraid of going against the norm and boy she took to surprises in this book like a champ.
George he was sneaky. He had ulterior motives in bringing Perry to Veronia other than what she believed she was there for, to help the kingdom conserve water. He was in the friend zone with Perry after knowing each other for six years, boy were they both in for. A surprise.
The Crown Prince, George's brother, Edward was the main goal. But things advanced quickly once Xavier, their cousin introduced himself the first night.
Perry has a lot to think about as well as do while in Veronia, what will she do?
Serena Akeroyd is an amazing author who writes very interesting books that the female's are usually an average woman, not the runway model type. I love reading her books!

This book is filled with castles, princes, dukes, horses, murder, mystery, sex, bodyguards, royal balls, lust, grand castles, environmentalism, nudity and love.

This is the first book in this series and it was a nice start to this Reverse Harem story.

The female protagonist happens to have been best friends with Prince George, of a tiny rich country called Veronia, for the last several years. Finally he’s taking her home to meet the family and for her, as a qualified environmental scientist, to consult on the countries water issues. She meets Edward, the heir to the throne/ George’s older brother and meets Xavier, their cousin. When plots to over throw the throne and destabilise the country Perry will do anything to keep the three men she cares about safe, even if it means doing the unthinkable.

Such an interesting take on a royal romance story crossed with a Reverse Harem. It’s fun, sad, amusing, wild and just a bit sexy. Can’t wait to read the next one on the series.

It's a snail pace burn RH.

I really liked the characters in this book as they all have interesting backgrounds. This novel was definitely a slow like snail pace slow burn RH which for me kind of took away from the story as it was too slow. I liked how at the start it wasn't the insta love and they was a lot of umming and aahhing about a menage relationship, but it wasn't until the last 10 mins of the book that the MC excepted this new relationship and things got interesting. This made it easy for me to get easily distracted and instead of my usual 1-2 days to finished a book this took me a week.
I will however recommend this to someone that is new to reverse harems as I think it would be a good start.

‘Her beauty had stunned him from the start. But her intelligence? It floored him.’

Perry (age 33) is from Tennessee and met George in college. She is a scientist. She agrees to come to Veronia to help with their drought situation.
Prince George DeSauvier (age 34) is returning home after 5 years.
Edward (age 41) his brother, is the Crown Prince of Veronia. He is widowed and has to remarry to secure an heir.
Duke Xavier DeSauvier (age 39) is the Princes’ cousin. He’s the Duke of Ansian and Lorrena.

I jumped into the after meeting these characters in ‘Theirs to Cherish’ to follow the reading order.

Perry jumping on Xavier right away didn’t the most make sense if she hasn’t been intimate in 6 years. The story is developing slowly so I am trying to stay into it.

Royal Decisions

Perry’s never thought in a million years that her best friend and Prince of Veronia would have any other feelings for her except as friends but boy oh boy is she WRONG!! Not only does this magnificent man have feelings for her he wants to share her with his older brother and future king. Talk about blindsided and then enter Xavier! He’s a duke and cousin to the princes and Perry wants him as well!! So is there to be a decision made to who she will choose or does she give into their desires and be shared by ALL three me !!!

I thought this was an amazing read and I am impatient to start the next book in the series!!

Ms. Akeroyd is a new author to me and I’m so glad I gave her a try. I really love this series! I just read Book 1 and 2 back to back.
This is a RH steamy fairytale. Perry is a regular American woman. She’s not a model, she’s not royalty, and she’s not stick thin. She’s just a regular woman who has always been in love with her best friend, who happens to be a prince. However, this story is about so much more than that.
Ms. Akeroyd really brings her characters to life. I am rooting for Perry and her princes and her duke!

Perry and her Princes is a beautiful love story. Two brothers and their cousin fall for this amazingly smart and honest woman, who will flip their world upside down. George knows Perry will make his brother happy... what he didn’t know was that his cousin Xavier would have other plans. How will Perry navigate this? Read part 1 of Theirs to find out!

This is an RH story like only Serena Akeroyd can write. She creates universes like no others. Here she creates a kingdom, with it’s rules, history and customs like no other...

While this series is good, it bothers me that when I was going to start the last book of the Quintessence it had a blurb that this series should be read prior to completely understand. While I understand that the characters are intertwined this seemed a strange way to combine them.

Going by the Quintessence series that I read, which was the first read for this author, I thought that this is a good story but this one was very slow compared to the others. Hopefully the next one will keep my interest better.

Carrying on.....

I love all of Serena's books so far. This is another one to add to the list. Perry doesn't realize when her best friend George, Prince of Veronia, takes her to visit his home he has other intentions. Perry has always been in love with him. She has choices to make, while trying to help the country of Veronia recover from a serious drought that could leave the country without water. I can't wait for the next boo

An American in Veronia

Perry and George have been best friends for five years, ever since they met at Harvard. It never mattered that Perry is a farm girl from Tennessee and George is a Prince of Veronia. Now Perry is going to Veronia to meet George’s family and look into the country’s drought as a water conservationist. Will this be the time for them to finally admit their feelings for each other or will Perry find a handsome Duke or even Crown Prince?

This is what adult RH should be

There is sex but it's not an orgy. Everyone isn't immediately OK with the idea of dating in a group, it takes time to come to terms with the idea and there is turmoil. You aren't looking at horrifically abused and broken individuals that belong in therapy not a relationship. It's a plausible story if you remove the royalty factor. Definitely worth the read.

George character comes off selfish. For 6 years he loved Perry but paraded and slept with countless of women even though he knew Perry felt the same way about him. When finally he confesses, he gave an ultimatum to Perry, love him but also love his brother because he's into sharing.

What? Really?

Often talking bad about a dead person who was murdered (even if they have a cold awful personality) is just wrong.

The plot is interesting but that's it.

I liked this book dont get me wrong, but I wish they would have explained more of Perry's background in the book. The author does a good job of the 3 men but the only true thing explained about Perry in this book is how she meets Goerge at Harvard. The book description tells of her but not the book itself. Warning if you get into this book you need to buy/rent the next one. CLIFFHANGER! But if the title of the second book kind of answers that.

Loved It!!!!!!!!

I absolutely love Perry and her amazing guys!!! I love paranormal RH but I have to tell you it is extremely refreshing to read a contemporary romance where the characters fall in love because the connection between them is so strong and not because they are destined mates! I cannot wait for the next book in this series!!! ❤️❤️

I absolutely loved it with every book I read off Serena’s they just keep getting better and better. Can’t wait for book 2 now to put the pressure on her to release ASAP lol

Overall I enjoyed this book. It’s a lighthearted RH. Perry’s relationship with the guys seem to progress pretty naturally. It does seem like some situations are unrealistic but it doesn’t detract from the story.

Fun read

This was recommended by one of my Facebook groups and I'm thankful for it. I love a FMC who is smart, sassy, and a klutz. These are all traits I have! I also like that it was a male character who broached the subject of sharing a mate. Getting the next book now.

I enjoyed this in the main but felt it was a tad slow at times. I have read other books by this author as so far this is not as 'hot' as some of her other books. All that aside the book is well written and I will read the next one of the series.

A lot of talking in the routine. I don’t think there should be so much talking during the routine.
Why so much talking?
🙄 I’ll read the second book. And then the third because cliffhangers are the WORST.
