I understand how adultery happens. I know, your first thought is “Of course you can — you’re a cheater.” That’s true, but that’s certainly not the whole story.
That’s always what a cheater says, right? Once again, you are correct. If you’re looking for a typical romance, then run — run far.
After ten years of marriage I realized my husband barely touched me anymore. There was the obligational monthly sex, but even that was starting to fizzle. I was twenty-nine and he was thirty-two. We should’ve been doing it like bunnies, night and day, or at least a couple times a week, to be more realistic. But that hadn’t happened in years.
It didn’t hit me until I’d been gone a couple of weeks. Then when I got home we both fell asleep that night, me snuggled up against his back like we always slept. But that’s all we did. We just … slept.
No big deal you say?
Wrong. It was a very big deal.
It was the night I realized we had a real problem.
I have a choice to make, but I'm so torn. Do I stay where I'm at or do I go with Kaden, with the man who's showing me I still have a lot to live for ...

Wow. I currently have so many words to describe the feelings this story conjured up. Heartache, helplessness, guilt, love, loneliness, desire, betrayal, strength. So many emotions tore through me whilst reading Miranda, Mason & Kadens story. I needed a moment to fully digest this before writing my review.

Miranda & Mason are high school sweethearts. In love by 16 and married just 3 years later. The problem is, while they were definitely in love, it never came across as an all consuming love. The can’t live without you kind of love. It was just a friendly one.

They’re married now 10 years, and each days proves they’ve changed so much. Grown farther & farther apart. But even though she’s so lonely and in need of attention from her husband, she’s comfortable and scared to just go. So they play it off like nothing is wrong and it’s just even more heartbreaking. She faces rejection from him nearly every day. How much more can she take?

Mason seems so distant. I’m not quite sure if it’s just his art that keeps him from emotionally connecting with his wife or maybe, just maybe that scent on his shirt wasn’t hers.

Enter Kaden, Miranda’s new boss. He’s obviously intrigued by his new junior associate, so much so, that he cannot stop pursing her. She’s put up a good fight but eventually her husband’s rejection will make it easier for Kaden to break through her shield.

I’m so conflicted right now. My mind is all, no...cheating is never okay. I don’t care what the circumstances are, you don’t make that choice. But my heart is all, I know why she did it. I feel her pain, her rejection, her need. Does that make it okay? There’s more to this story, I don’t want to give too much away, I kinda feel like I already have. Just go read it and get ready for the conclusion in Tattered <3

Torn

Great title for this book. Also describes my feelings on it. While the story definitely kept me captivated and I can't wait for the next one, I don't care for the constant back and forth between then and now. Got to be confusing at times.

Torn by Melody Anne is book One in the Torn series. This is the story of Miranda, Mason and Kaden.
Mason and Miranda were high school sweethearts that married quickly and have been together for years now. Mason and Miranda had their young love and friendship thinking it would never dull...but in the current day it has. Then Kaden walks into her world and she starts to feel desire again. Kaden of course is attracted to Miranda...and it burns hot.
This book deals more with Miranda story and the next one should deal more with Mason and the outcome of Miranda's new feelings.
Can't wait to read the next installment in their story.

ALL THE FEELS & EMOTIONS
5 Stars

I’m a huge Melody Anne fan and I’ve followed her for quite some time now. I lost my Dad around the same time she lost hers and I can totally relate to “Daddy’s girl” complex and how hard it is to comprehend that he’s not there for me to call on. This story is such an emotional rollercoaster and the feels it brought to me are immense. The relationships that form and fall apart are just about enough to push anyone over the edge. I commend her for putting herself out there like this and her heart down on these pages. I guarantee you will fall in love with each and every one of these characters!

Miranda is a complex character, but not unlike most of us and our daily struggles. I found myself relating to her in more ways than one. She loves her husband, but she’s not in love with him. They started as friends and somehow I think that’s where they should have stayed, but no one can tell you differently when you think you’re in love. The trials and tribulation Miranda faces throughout the first installment of this serial are bold and heart-wrenching. I can’t wait to see where this goes and how her life is going to change!

Mason is hard to figure out. He doesn’t have a lot of dialogue and the storyline doesn’t let you in on too many things going on with him, but I feel confident we’ll know more soon!

Same goes for Kaden. We know his position in Miranda’s life, we know he’s hot as heck, but what we don’t know is his past. Why is he the way he is? What does he want from Miranda? How far is he willing to go to get what he wants? And what is it he wants? Hells bells Melody, you’re killing me here!

The supporting character cast is small and I feel like only mentioning two of them. Audrey is Miranda’s good friend and a heck of a girl. She’s Miranda’s sounding board and voice of reason. She doesn’t judge or frown upon Miranda’s actions, she embellish on them, making what has happened seem not so bad and justified! The other person is Miranda’s Dad. This guy is the best!! The best Dad, the best friend, the best everything! He’s always there for her and also does not judge her. He simply stands by her and supports her decisions without hesitation. Reading his parts made me miss my Dad so much as I could feel my heart breaking feeling my own Dad on these pages and in these words and I’m sure Melody was typing through tears while she wrote about him.

This story is fantastic! I have fallen in love with this storyline and these outstanding characters. Characters that are so powerful, I found myself closely relating to each and every one of them on some level. The dialogue flows and the pacing is perfect. This is a sort of cliffy, but doesn’t leave you completely hanging. Stay tuned for more Mason, Miranda, and Kaden!

Well, I have been sitting here trying to come to terms with this book and I am still not sure if this review is going to do it justice. I will start off by saying that if cheating is a hard limit for you, I do not recommend this book. That being said this is a book that brings out a ton of feels, from loneliness and longing, to passion and regrets and even a powerful love. These characters may be severely flawed and handle situations wrong but they want want everyone wants, love and acceptance.

Miranda is married to her high school sweetheart and there was a time when she thought their love could never fade but life got in the way and now she is realizing that her husband is no more than a roommate. The passion, tenderness and love they once shared is no where to be found. Mason even stated he didn’t know if he still wanted her, so why hasn’t she walked away?

Her new boss Kaden makes her feel something that has been lost for ages and even though she knows it’s wrong, she can’t stay way. What was supposed to start casual ends up being all consuming and when the rules start to change she is “Torn” on how to move forward.

This book ends with us waiting for the other shoe to drop and I can’t wait to read more. If highly emotional books are your thing, this is your next read!

We know because of the blurb that this is a love triangle book and I thought I knew how the story would go but j was wrong.

I think any long term couple may have a point where they look at their life and relationship and think is this it or wonder where the spark has gone. That's where Miranda is, she's been with Mason since high school and they're still happy and in love aren't they?

I'm not sure if I liked all the characters, it was hard forming an opinion on Mason because although he's in the story has not really there. I guess that is exactly how Miranda feels, at times he's dismissive towards her. Then at just the right time or the wrong time depending on your point of view Kaden enters the picture.

The book gives the reader a ringside seat to a marriage falling apart. At no time does it feel like the author is glorifying infidelity but gives a very honest portrayal of this emotional story.

I can't help feeling that there is a whole chunk of the story we are missing that I'm hoping will be revealed when we get to know Mason's perspective in book two.

Wow!

This story felt so real. I felt each characters pain and struggle. I wanted Miranda and Mason to make it as a couple. But I like Karen as well. His and Midlands story has a little bit of Christian Grey, and Fifty Shades of Grey. The graduation scene, and he giving her a job at his company. Sounds a lot like Fifty Shades. This story is very touching. I cannot wait to find out what happens in Book 3.

I enjoyed the story, but I did not like the fact that it went back and forth to now and then...it was constant through out the story....I think there would of been a better way to write it for everyone to be able to keep with what was happening....I would like to know what happened with Miranda and how she ended her marriage.....

Couldn’t get in to it

It goes back and forth between “then” and “now”, so that made the story incredibly hard to follow. I don’t think I will continue this duet.

"But I'll tell you the true story. I'll show you how far a person can fall. But within the fall, what we may figure out is that only then can we soar. I was ready to fly. I just had to let go of my guilt in order to do that."

Now, this quote sounds pretty awful once you've read the blurb for this story. And if y'all know me, you know I HATE a cheater, but lately I've been hit with some really great stories that explore the grey area most people are afraid to talk about in such a situation. Does this mean I'm going to be any more forgiving if someone cheats on me? Absolutely not. Does this mean I'm not a fan of stories featuring a cheater? Also, no. But I am now intrigued about the story and the feelings involved in making a decision this huge.

When this story began, I was immersed in the relationship between Miranda and her husband, Mason. I felt like I was in the relationship with them: I felt the disappointment, the hurt, the confusion, and even the guilt. It was a relationship I'm not sure I would have survived in. What hurt me the most was seeing how these two went from blissfully happy to simply existing. How does that happen? Where does the relationship just break down and allow those in it to lose sight of what they mean to each other? "Forever isn't long enough when it's right. And at that moment, it was exactly right. It felt as if it could never change. I'm utterly heartbroken when I realize it does change -- that love doesn't always last forever.

When things began to dissolve more, it was Miranda's mind that intrigued me. Since I could only see her husband through her eyes, his actions may be a bit skewed, but it seems that something is going on with him. Is it an affair? I have no idea. But he is definitely focused outside of his marriage. Once Miranda allows herself to let go of her reservations and begins to look away from her husband, it begins a whole new batch of emotions within her. This was where I really began to wonder what would happen between all of them and what had led them to where they were.
"Neither of us were evil people. We were human. We were complicated. We made mistakes. Did that mean either of us should have been damned? No. What did it mean, then? That, I honestly didn't know then, and I still don't know now."

I'm dying waiting on Tattered. This story isn't your typical romance, but it's intriguing and I want to find out what brought everyone to the point they make decisions that can affect their whole world.

If you are looking for a book that is riveting, that makes you think and one that is full of love, romance and heartbreak - then Torn by Melody Anne is the perfect pick for you. I was intrigued by the synopsis of the book and once I read the first chapter I was absolutely hooked. I found myself feeling sorry for the main character Miranda - she thought she had it all - love, marriage and she finally graduated University ... but then her life as she knew it began to unravel before her eyes.

I personally enjoyed the now and then ... it gave a great perspective of how things came to be. It was great to see how Mason (Miranda`s husband) and Miranda`s relationship evolved - and it didn't jut change over night. I thought it was a great writing technique by Anne to help the readers have perspective on why Miranda ended up in the predicament that she did. It was great also because we got to see the first time Kaden and Miranda met - it also helped to gain some perspective on the relationship. I felt bad for Miranda because she was exactly what the title of the novel suggests - Torn between two men and two lives. The life she has with Mason, although it isn't much of a life - they are both leading separate lives, it is the comfort and familiarity. Her life with Kaden is just that, a life - they have feelings for one another, they challenge each other and they are drawn to one another ... like a moth to a flame.

I was definitely impressed with this story line and characters, they felt real and the story line was almost too real - even though the author put a disclaimr at the front of the book. You could feel Melody's pain in some of the lines and you felt for both Miranda and Melody (author) as it was such an emotional story. I definitely want to read the second book in the series to find out what happens next - can Miranda save her relationship with Mason, or is it too late? Can Kaden and Miranda ever truly be together? These are both questions that I definitely want answered.

If you are looking for a love, sweet, romance - then this is not the book for you. This is a book about, love, discovery, betrayal and new beginnings. Melody Anne has created a story line that speaks to the heartbreak of marriage - the things that most people don't let you see, but Torn allows you to see the breaking down of a marriage and the feelings in adultery. I definitely recommend this book and suggest you add it to your To-Be-Read Shelf.

It was about 8:18 when I got on the train this morning and decided to start reading a book. I had the chance to read Torn by Melody Anne, and, well, I am speechless.

At 10:00, I finished it. I couldn't stop reading at all. It felt like I was being pulled to witness their struggles and though I hurt, I couldn't do anything but watch how they reacted to the events that are happening in the story.

Torn is Miranda, Kaden, and Mason's story, their beginnings as well as their current situations. It is a heartbreakingly beautiful and realistic story about the struggles in marriages and how one woman deals with it. It reveals the ugly truths we don't want to accept or even acknowledge about life, changes, growth and how these affect marriages.

I loved Miranda' character. She is noticeably human and this is definitely shown throughout the story. I love the way we get to see her grow and develop as well as witness the struggles she has internally.

Most of all, I love the support system she has in her father and in Audrey. They are exactly the people she needs.

Mason' character isn't delved into too much in this book, nor is Kaden's but they both have a major effect on what Miranda goes through.

They say there are more than one side to every story.

Well, this is Miranda's side.

It's her choices, her actions, her feelings, that are described. It contains her memories and her current life and the path she took to get there. The other main characters, though not as elaborate, both offer a glimpse into each of their lives and a way to explain and/or understand why they did the choices they made.

I was so happy I got this book when I got this book. this was an ARC given in exchange for an honest review.

It really surprised me, because the story is told in third person and on top of that goes back and forth into the past and the present life of the main character of the story and her husband and immediate family members. At the beginning was somewhat confusing but, once you get used to it, is easy to know where the character is every moment in the book.

It tells the story of a woman, Miranda, and how she met who would be the man of her life or her husband at some point in their lives.

The story explains how a woman completely smitten with her husband, leaves everything to be with him. While he searches for what that something that makes his life complete, Mason changes in front of Miranda's life.

This pushes her to go back to school and finish her career. After college, at age 28, she is granted an interview at a company, she doesn't get why, but she is changing to, we can see that Mason has stopped being the lovable and passionate husband she fell in love with, and a second man, Kaden, her new boss comes into the picture.

What will happen in Miranda's marriage? Will Kaden let her know how he feels? All of a sudden Miranda finds herself between a rock and a very difficult place. Will har values be co.oromised by this dark handsome and very sexy man?

This is part on in the Torn series, so expect a cliffy. The story took a turn and kept me really interested about halfway to the end of the book. It is not my favorite books by this author, but I still recommend the book to everyone that loves this type of stories.

Before I start, this book has cheating in it. I know some people won't read a book if there is any instance of cheating in it, so here's your warning. That being said, I don't mind if a book has cheating in it.

This book started off slow. I absolutely hated the pattern of one chapter being the past and then the next being the present, then the next one being the past, and so on. It reminds me almost of Pulp Fiction and how that was told from end to beginning. Spoiler, I absolutely HATE Pulp Fiction.

Not to say that I hated this book. I rather enjoyed it, I just would have preferred it be told in chronological order, from beginning to end, in order.

It started off slow. Not much was happening, and to be honest, I was kind of bored. However, as I read further, it got to be more interesting. You can tell that something is happening with Mason. I don't know what it is, but I really hope it has nothing to do with that bitch Bella, because I will punch her in her fictional face if that's the case.

I love the comic relief that Dell provides throughout the book. This book isn't heavy in the slightest, but Dell is such a lighthearted, funny character and he was a joy to read.

I didn't think when I began this book that I was going to read the next one, but when you end it like this one did, you have to read the next one, because shit may just be about to hit the fan.

A new author for me and I’d like to say she delivered my expectations.

First off I loved her writing. I can feel everything that Miranda, our protagonist felt. And a lot of parts in the book was quote worthy.

I’m glad the book didn’t make her husband a piece of shit. Where us readers HATED him. He was “real”, caught up on work and distant. By the look of it, I don’t have doubts that he cheated/cheating but hopefully the next book will cover that area.

I’m also glad that the man she had an affair with, Kaden, wasn’t that asshole guy that slut-shams her. He was genuinely a good guy to her.

Also, I absolutely LOVED her father. Such a wonderful piece of character to put into the book. He reminded me of my late father as well (passed away in 2015). And when I read the last bit about the author and her father, I instantly felt for her.

There were a few flaws I I have to say:

I didn’t like was the “Now and Then” chapters. Not that it was confusing but I typically don’t like books that back and forth on the story.

Another was that Kaden “instantly” wanted to kiss her in the elevator without really knowing her. I wish it was more real like they worked side by side and gradually wanted to kiss.

Third, maybe I missed it... but I wasn’t sure what job she had in Kaden’s company. I don’t think there was a description. She said data entry but then she went to Las Vegas (I’m sure it was Kaden’s doing on that) for a concept design? The whole job thing was rather confusing.

The blurb picked my interest, maybe because it's a theme not many people is willing to read about, but I really like love triangles. Cheating is not a easy thing to accept and read about. I don't like cheating in real life. I always think that if there is a problem, communication is your best friend. But this isn't real life. This is fiction and I bet so many people feel what Miranda feels.

Miranda sees herself drowning in life. She didn't expect that her life would turn into this. There's no communication between her and Mason and that's where the problem lies. Then another man gives her the attention that as a woman she needs and that between several other situations, makes her becoming alive again.

I really liked the switch between the past and the present, that gives us the insight needed to understand the characters.

I'm very curious to read Mason's story... I'm sure it will have the turning point that we as readers need to understand what happened to this couple.

Kaden hides some secrets I'm dying to know about as well, although I think he should have backed up from her, knowing she's married, I'm pretty sure his reasons aren't that simple, so I can't wait to read Tattered!

Torn

I’m huge fan of Melody Anne’s books and I have written many reviews in support of her writing. However, reading Torn has bought to light the complication of relationships and how to address them. I will reserve my input until the completion of this series because a lot has been unsaid. Miranda was confronted with temptation and the debate to do the right thing. I understand to an extend about being in a relationship at young age and experiencing some of the roller coaster effects of young love with one partner.

My husband and I have been together since the age of 11 and have five children 30,25,18,14 and 12. We’ve seen some hard times, but have overcome most. I guess what spook me about this book was how we conform to daily routines and loss a piece of us or that spark. I thank Ms. Anne for writing this book. I’m sorry for her loss, however, it’s given me an awakening to evaluate my relationship and bring the young spunk back before it evaporates. I pray I never have to confront a situation like this. Best reading and let’s wait to see what happens in book two. I want to know Mason’s side.

I went into this book a little bit cynical about the topic it was going to cover because this topic is so close to my heart. I have to say I was not sure I was going to like the back and forth that goes on between the characters but actually for this story itself, it works well because we get to see the thinking process and the reasoning for every action.

I in no way ever condone cheating in any way shape or form, it is not my style, it never has been and never will be. I can’t help but think this story is showing how things can change even when you don’t expect it to. This story is a reminder that no matter where you end up in life, that things can change in a blink. Mistakes are made, and errors happen but I find it interesting that I don’t actually hate the person who is cheating, but I do feel like they make errors of judgement and jump too quickly. I do think that whilst the blame lies on the person who is cheating, it’s not black and white.

I definitely had to rethink my own stance on certain issues when it comes to cheating, and whilst I don’t condone cheating, I don’t think I can judge anyone. This story opened my eyes and I am seriously invested in finding out what happens next!

First off, I really really really enjoyed this story. I love the idea behind it. I love how it was presented. I even loved the parts that ripped my heart out. Ive been there. Its not a fun place to be. I have felt what the heroine did. I related to her in ways I don't even want to mention. The loneliness with a room full of people is heartbreaking. I was torn with how to feel. Unfortunately I think this book will be one you either LOVE like crazy or hate it. I don't think there will be a lot of grey area. With that being said.... I love it. I was all in the feels with this read and I cant wait until I get the rest of the story. I am excited to get a different POV. I think the additional POV will really make this story come full circle.

If youre looking for a get all in the feels kind of book this is definitely it. Anger, sadness, heartbreak, happiness..... its all there in spades. SOOOO many ups and downs I couldn't keep my head on right, but in the best way.

Torn was my first book by this author. I was piqued by the blurb because it resonates with a lot of married couples in real life.

The title is apt for this book as Miranda truly does feel as if she's being torn in 2 different directions. At times I loved and hated Mason, her husband, for his actions or in-actions as the case may be. One minute i was calling for her to tell him she was done, it was over and others yelling at her to woman up and have it out with him.

I enjoyed this book in that it did suck me in and I became invested in what was happening but I was put off by the constant back and forth between then and now. It was a bit confusing at times trying to keep the now story straight. Written in 1st person it really does hit home how real Miranda's situation is and how it could so easily be us in her position. I look forward to reading the rest of Miranda's story and finding out what her future holds.

I have been blown away by this book, I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into when I read this, but I feel like the author wrote my life on paper. I have cried so many times reading this but it was a cleansing feeling, like a detox having someone else feel the way I do.

This book is not for the faint hearted. It takes on a lot of layers of life changing experiences throughout a marriage that is slowly dissipating into nothing. The characters were written perfectly. I cannot fault anything about how this story transpired, the way it was written from past and present experiences. Cracks form, lies begin and a forbidden affair starts to take place.

I’m dying to find out about what Mason and Kaden’s point of view were throughout this relationship. I so need answers to many questions that are left unanswered, I need the next book ASAP because the suspense is killing me.

I love this book but it's so depressing

Ms. Anne has a way of creating a world and stories that touches your soul.
I do have to say this one was a rather depressing one, even though I loved it. I feel so much for Miranda, with what her life has ended up like. She was so young and thought she found love and happiness.
Mason to me, is an arse. I don't have any nice things to say about him. I'm sure he's doing bad things that makes what Miranda did look like she's a saint.
The author created a story mixed in with her own feelings of the life situation that will pull all kinds of emotions from you.
This story hurts my heart, makes it ache. When it all comes down to it, I just feel sad. Sad for Miranda that she's so lost yet don't know how to let go, sad for Mason that he couldn't be man enough to do what's right and not be so selfish, and just sad for the whole situation that created an emptiness and numbness.

This story has left me speechless it was so good. I don’t normally like books with this storyline but this author has written such an emotional story about real life that people encounter everyday I couldn’t put it down. This is a story of loss, a loss so deep there are no words adequate enough to express the pain. I really fell in love with Kaden and Miranda oddly enough. Kaden is so like the alpha heroes this author usually writes about and I think this is why I liked his character. I wasn’t sure I liked Mason but I’m sure he has a side to tell in this mix as well. I definitely don’t like cliffhangers but I am really looking forward to finding out the “rest of the story” between these three “torn” characters. I think this series is going to be one of Ms. Anne’s best.

This is my first book that I've read by this author. I am so glad I got to read this book. Bare with this book, don't give up on it. The story started of slow but you end up getting so wrapped up in this book that it flies by. The characters are like-able, except for 1 that your probably gonna want to c*%t punt. Lol. I enjoyed that the characters weren't all perfect. It deals with a married couple that have issues(cheating). It gave me all the feels. I felt like this book could totally happen in real life. Married couples need to keep that love going and fight for what you have had and what you want. This book will leave you itching for the next book. - By Mandi

This was a hard read, emotionally - Heartbreaking- high school sweetheart that love each. But love changes as we grown - Melody said it best it's not the same kind of love when you are in your teens and when you reach your 30th. Some couples can make it work and some just grow apart. This really touches me I mean I know my best friends is my boyfriend- common-law partner- or husband but what happens if the communication isn't there anymore and you just go through the motions of being together it must be hard. I cannot wait till book two comes along I know I will cry because I cried in this one.
