Hints of another life, and who she really is, are whispered to her in dreams, visions, and in her interactions with people who seem to know more about her then they let on. Eva's struggle to find out who or what she is, all while navigating the real world for the first time, is complicated by the confusing relationships she has begun to develop with the three men she has fallen for. Will Eva ever find her happy ending, or will forgotten specters change the course of all she is coming to know?
I'm a wife, mother, and author! Writing has always been a passion for me, and publishing my first series is a dream come true. I drink too much caffeine, never sleep, and my imagination is always churning out ideas. Eva and her men have been in my head for awhile, and I'm so glad to finally take you with me on this journey!
I had a lot to say about this last night but honestly I can't even be bothered now. The bottom line is that it's just not for me. One thing I will say though, this doesn't read like a reverse harem and it was actually a little annoying. It was more of a love-square with the guys fighting for the heroine's attention. Obviously there's 7 books so this is still technically early in the story but even so, for being 2 books deep into this story already I was expecting more of a connection between the characters.
It is not that this book was bad, I think the problem is (for me anyway) that the author is trying to be mysterious and write bits and pieces of the past interlaced with the present but.... something about it in this story is not working.
The story in itself is not bad, maybe just not enough details to really flush the story out, so the characters come off as just idiotic really with the instant in love and over the top shit they do for Eva, which brings me to this, Eva was kidnapped (naturally) and we get no insight into if the guys are looking for her or what...
I don't know, again it is not great but something about it is entertaining enough that yes I will keep going with the series.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙💜❤️💚 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙 World building: 🌏🌍🌎 Character development: 🤓😀😘 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Eva - she was raised in foster care, and spent years in an abusive home, locked in the attic, often beaten and mistreated. Now she had escaped that life and is attending an elite college in New York city on a scholarship. She is on the cheerleading squad, and has since met Damon, Mason and Beckham, three wealthy and successful men and she is drawn to all three of them.
The Heroes:Damon - he is the star quarterback at Rothmore. He met Eva first and had dated her, though they had a falling out after she caught him in flagranté delicto with an ex-girlfriend. He had hidden wings and could fly. Mason - he is the lead singer in a band called The Riot and took Eva out on an unexpected and extravagant date to the Grammy’s where he performed and won more than a few awards. His power was his voice. Beckham - He is the third friend and a big movie star. He met Eva at the Grammy’s, he called her his queen, and she fainted as soon as she saw him. He had the power of persuasion, but didn’t know what he was, though he knew he was immortal.
The Story: Eva keeps dreaming about another life, and her dreams have become hallucinations even when she is awake. After meeting the three guys, she feels a deep connection to each of them like they belonged to each other and had done so for ages. Beckham was also having flashes of scenes in his mind as well, all of which featured Eva and seemed more like memories than anything else, though he doesn’t know from where or when.
This book goes further into the supernatural and Eva’s paranormal abilities and qualities start to really come out. She always knew that she was different in that she healed remarkably fast from the abuse she suffered and when her foster mother cut her hair off, it grew back overnight. However, in this book as she gets closer to the age of 18, she really starts to have things happen. She starts to glow at times, and her ability to hear sounds and conversations from far away picks up. She also sees more of the paranormal qualities of those around her. I have to say though, despite the sweet romances she is having with each of her three guys, I got a bit bored at times during this book.
This audiobook was told from multiple points of view and was done in dual narration. Dual narration always makes audiobooks feel more immersive. Felicity Monroe's expressive style paired with Nelson Hobbs’ varied character voices seems like a solid match; he did a great job with Beckham’s British accent as well; I am not sure if he is actually British or American. I usually prefer a deeper voice in male narrators for romance—I think it adds more weight to those emotionally charged moments, though I did really like Nelson Hobbs’ voice.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
What an amazing addition to this series! We pick up right where book one left off and things are really getting interesting with the guys now. All three want her and have no plans to give up. The problem is that she feels for all three of them in an even split. Decisions decisions. I cannot wait for the fireworks that I know have to come at some point. This should get really interesting. As if that is not enough she has to deal with girls from the guys' past as well as people from her own. We get a another emotional cliff hanger at the end that leaves me wishing book three was already done. If you are a fan of paranormal romance novels set in our world just full of magic and supes then you so have to read this book/series. I loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Eva is my girl for sure. A true survivor for sure. I’m glad that she’s finally paying more attention to your surroundings and trusting her visions. There is so much suspense surrounding her and her boys. I’m glad that the identity of two of the guys were mentioned. I can’t wait to find out who Eva really is. So many secrets. The books are short but straight to the point. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a short story packed with riddles. I gave this book 4 stars because Eva story keeps getting better.
I liked the transition between the first and the second book. Or rather, that there was no transition at all, the story just keeps going, like it's all part of one book. The guys finally figured out that Eva has a connection to all of them, but the way they reacted to it was rather different. Beckham I think only wants her to be happy, no matter how it happens and to just be a part of it. Mason I think is opened to possibilities. Now Damon, he's the one who actually has the biggest issues with everything. He can be quite a dick about it too and I'm not sure how they all gonna handle his attitude. The visions that Eva (and I guess Beckham?) is having are more than intriguing and I cannot wait to see how it's all connected. I feel like with the second book we only got more questions with maybe just a few not really fulfilling answers. And I actually have been thinking how Eva's home situation was resolved and forgotten way too quickly. I guess the joke's on me, right? Who saw that shit coming? And that ending again. Just.. what the hell happened and how long do I have to wait to find out?
3.5 Stars I liked this book. It was a solid second installment in the series. I got to see more of the guys and there were more developments into what they are supernaturally. Which I must say, I definitely approve of. There were also some plot twists that I hadn't been expecting and I ultimately had a good time reading the book. As of right now, I will be continuing the series.
The second book in the series was interesting. I enjoyed the heroine a lot, although I feel she didn't ask enough questions about things. Other than that, I liked it.
Eva's life has gone from being locked in an attic to attending Hollywood awards shows; from being groped by her foster father to being on the arm of gorgeous, talented men; from being hidden away to being the center of attention. First, she catches the attention of Damon Pierce, star quarterback, then his best friend Mason Shaw, the talented lead singer of a hugely popular band, and finally their third friend Beckham Stone, one of Hollywood's biggest stars. These three men aren't human and they recognize Eva as being more than human as well. They also are willing to throw away their centuries of friendship with one another to have her. She's that special. However, they weren't the first to realize this and her past catches up with her in a most terrifying way. Confusing relationships, unwanted attention, jealousy, and obsession. Complications Eva didn't expect. Add in dreams that feel like memories and the real world is more confusing and more overwhelming than Eva could have ever imagined.
Forgotten Specters is the second book in the Fated Wings series. Book one set the stage, introduced the characters. Book two truly begins Eva's story. And it is good! Eva is a delight. So beautiful, so open, so sweet. There's new information on the mystery surrounding who/what she is. We get glimpses of what appear to be her memories with one of the men from a past life. We start to understand all of the men more, learn their powers, see their struggles with jealousy, their desire for Eva. The individual POV's give true insight into what each main character is thinking and feeling. The paranormal world is much larger, much closer than we knew and Eva appears to have an important role in coming events.
This book takes quite a turn at one point into a traumatic event. Shocking. Enthralling. I could not put this book down! It is seriously entertaining. I can't wait to get the guy's POV's. I believe this event might be what actually makes them realize how important Eva is and that they don't need to make her choose. She feels a bond to each of them, they all feel deeply for her, they will all be important to her story. I can't wait until they realize that. It ends on a cliffhanger that already has me begging for more!
I enjoyed the story overall, but a couple things took this rating down for me. 1. Flashbacks - not a fan 2. MFC making stupid decisions that led to her being taken/recaptured ... Seriously, soooo annoying! Surely the author could have been more creative in her story and written something that didn't make the MFC look like a complete moron. 3. The uncomfortable RH
2nd read: I liked this a little better the second time around, but after reading my initial review.... These items still remain true, so I'll leave my stars at 3.
Why do I do this to myself? It's bad but that's not stopping me from reading it, and I'm finishing myself to enjoy parts of it...
This book was longer than the first (165 pages), but it didn't take me long to read, I read it in one sitting.
I honestly don't know how to even write this review. I want to start the next book, but it's like I just physically can't....
I'm like having whiplash from my feelings about this book.
Some things that bothered me - - I really hated Anna, but then she was sort of nice (I guess), and then that happened to her. - The groups relationship doesn't seem to be working out. I LOATHE that they all like get upset with each other and are jealous (which I understand to a certain point), their dynamic just doesn't seem that healthy (is that the way to put it). I just hate when the groups don't agree, and these guys have known each other for SO long, and are willing to just throw it all away. - The pastor guy. No need to go in depth. He deserved WAY, WAY, WAY worse.
SO there are all these things ^, and yet I STILL keep coming back. I don't know what that means about me, but at this point who cares.
4.25🌟 What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck??? I’m officially invested. Ok so I’m a little bit more on board with the idea of having three love interests, as long as she figures out that she really only wants to be intimate with one of them. At least they’re not all sharing each other. I still want her to be with Damon, especially since she has wings now. Butttttt - Beckham’s kinda cute too. Mason can stay away on tour. I’m actually so happy that Lexi ended up being someone. I’m still wondering why/how she got accepted into the university though…I knew she was going to be taken again, it couldn’t have been that easy. What was done to her is awful, and I was just waiting for either Damon or Beckham to come find her. And what’s going on with the flashbacks??? Who’s this new being with the “familiar black eyes”??? I’m throughly intrigued.
I borrowed this title on my kindle unlimited subscription
I am so loving this series of books! I am very happy I stumbled upon them, Eva is happier than she ever knew she could be. She has escaped her abusive foster parents and living the life she always wanted. The three gorgeous men she has met have her in a spin, but delightfully so
Well written and exciting throughout the story has a nice pace to it and the storyline is wonderful to me. I love the characters and I am falling so I to the story that the outside world seems to disappear, I am so looking forward to the next book
Started this series yesterday as one I’d beat friends highly recommended it. This is an amazing story with a very talented writer and I’m so excited to see how this series turns out. Now I’m off to read book 3!
I liked this better than book 1. We get multiple POVs in this one. Eva is trying to spend time equally with each of the three guys. She still has not turned 18 so she does not know what her special powers are. Off to read book 2.5 - Damon’s story.
Continuation of the story from the first book. Everything seems idealic for Eva, she has a place to live, a new job and a friend. She also has 3 men she likes, but is confused as she can't decide who she prefers. Then her past comes back to haunt her, pun intended.
DNF - Finished 100% of book 1 & 2, skimmed book 3, 93% of book 4
This biggest reason I dnf is because the men in the harem are all extremely jealous of each other and they are all trying to win the heart of the mfc, but they each want all of her to themselves..
There was also a lot of small plot holes. I don't usually mind a few here or there as long as I can understand what is going on, but if there are a bunch of small ones it becomes a big problem. In the second book "going over all of the dreams I had been having lately, and the...visions." pg. 33. But every time she has a dream and vision she doesn't remember them? This is a continuous issue throughout the series. She has dreams or visions but can't remember them and yet she is constantly going over them.
Also... the mfc is continously going through abuses and traumatic stuff and yet she is totally fine. Spent MONTHS with some guy manipulating her mind and then is going to Paris to a concert. And that's after growing up in an abusive home to an extreme, being kidnapped, seeing some of the only people she knew for year murdered in front of her, almost sexually assaulted... like just SO much kept happening to this girl and she acts like the world is fine.
I think the idea behind the book is a good one. That's why I kept reading. It just wasn't executed well.. Maybe the author can take the time to edit it some more in the future and I will give it another try.
This was super short :/ it's even shorter than the first book :/
Spoilers ahead
In this book, Eva's relationship with the guys develops. and we know more about her past. obviously she was a faery princess/soon to be queen. She was also in love with Beckham, but had to leave him at some point and be with another (evil) man to save her kingdom. In this book her powers also begin to manifest the closer her eighteenth birthday is.
what I didn't like is that she is still as helpless and weak as she was in the first book. she is hoping to gain strength from her soon to appear powers, but she obviously forgot to work on developing her courage.
First, she doesn't put a stop to Eric's advances. even though it's her problem to keep him in line and not just depend on the Damon to keep him off. she really needs to get a grip. and she still doesn't acknowledge the fact that she has any effect on men. I still don't see her taking cautious stance against other men. she is as oblivious as a child, which is annoying.
Then there's that crazy man, Kylan Darcy, who got so obsessed with her. So he kidnaps her and wants to marry her. All this happens while she is still standing in shock and kind of trying to yank away from his grasp. really impressed
I hope in the next book we'll see some character development. Not just trying new things and going to different places.
It started out good, a continuation of the first book in the series. But then the flashbacks/visions started. And the continuous drama revolving around the 3 men. Yes it is a reverse harem and there should be some drama but this was just annoying. I may have read the next book if it had stopped there. Instead it went off the rails. She added entirely too many pieces to the plot. When you add all of that to the descriptions of the rest of the series(which unfortunately do matter), this will be my last book by this author. Too bad I bought the audiobooks too.
Oh, god, it is so bad it became entertaining. Even if I disregard all the plot holes, the absence of logic or even the horrendous attempt of author to be mysterious, what is left is written so badly, that at one point my sarcastic nature just started to take over and giggles burst at the points that were meant to be dramatic in this book. I don't remember the last time I have read something so ridiculous and terribly written and enjoyed it.
Forgotten Specters is a solid second instalment that shifts the focus of the series from introduction to expansion. While the first book centred on establishing Eva and the men around her, this one feels far more concerned with where the story is ultimately headed.
The novel picks up immediately after the events of book one, beginning at the Grammys with Mason and Beckham, and wastes no time pushing the narrative forward. One of the most interesting elements in this book is the use of visions that reveal fragments of Eva’s past, or possibly a past life. These moments offer insight into a much larger paranormal world that exists beyond what Eva initially understood, and watching her react to these revelations is compelling. Her responses feel believable as she slowly comes to terms with the idea that there is more to herself, and to those around her, than she ever realised.
The dynamics between the men continue to evolve in noticeable ways. Jealousy, insecurity, and shifting alliances all play a role as their relationships with one another change. At the same time, their individual connections with Eva deepen, creating tension that feels intentional rather than chaotic. The multiple POV structure works especially well here, allowing readers to understand each character’s motivations and emotional state. It adds depth to the relationships and makes the conflict feel layered instead of one-dimensional.
C.R. Jane’s chapter-by-chapter POV switching remains one of the strongest aspects of the series. It provides balance between character development and plot progression, and helps the cast feel distinct rather than blended together.
It’s worth noting that the final portion of the book includes more intense and potentially triggering situations. While these scenes are not described here in detail, readers who are sensitive to traumatic content may want to approach with caution.
Overall, Forgotten Specters successfully expands the world and raises the stakes. The themes, characters, and overarching storyline continue to draw me in, and the cliffhanger ending ensures I’ll be picking up book three as soon as I can.
I'm going to stop reading books if authors insist on ending them on cliffhangers! LOL Just kidding. My poor little heart has felt abused lately with all the cliffys.
This is the second installment to The Fated Wings series. It picks right up where book one left off.
I like the fact that I have no idea what's going on. Sometimes books are very easy for me to determine what is going to happen, even when an air of mystery is supposed to be playing a part. However with this one, I have no idea what is going on.
We get a vague sense of something that happened in the past, but we are only slowly getting the clues to piece the puzzle together.
In this storyline, we get a lot more information. We are finally starting to see the journey Eva is supposed to be on. The paranormal world is becoming larger than Eva ever expected. And what it could possibly mean for her.
I do think a trigger warning should be issued just in case. There are some aspects within the book that may bring up memories for those who have suffered similar fates. It isn't in too much detail, but a fair warning should be stated.
I'm excited to see what will happen next.
I would recommend it. I think it is an interesting read and everyone will enjoy it.
Such a great second book. Forgotten Spectors picks up right where the second left off. We see Eva grow more with her guys, and we see how each guy handles each other. In the first book we got to know each character, we knew something paranormal was going on with all of them, but in this second book we learn a lot more. The author's writing in this one I thought changed, and not at all for the worst. We are still left plotting what is actually going on with our main girl Eva. The author introduced "flashback" images that Eva recieves. Are they memories? Maybe.. It seems that like humans, paranormals mature at 18, in which they develope powers. Guess who turns 18 soon. *Now that I think about it.. it's weird to me that she's 17 and her men are centuries old. I wish the author would have made her a little older. Also again ending with a cliffhanger, but what is going on! I thought the beginning was a little slow, but like the necessary slow building details of the characters and all. We see someone from Eva's past come in and that's where the tables turn. Where are her men? What will Eva do? That ending left us with so many questions and I seriously need that next book! Great series! Mind-blowing!
I’m not sure how I feel about this book. The book is good as you the pieces of the past interwoven with the present story – which does leave the mystery of trying to figure out what happened in the past that landed the characters where they are now. I felt like the first part of the book felt slower than I was expecting… as it was the guys trying to win her love and be the one she chooses. However, it does pick up some with Eva was kidnapped. And the ending! I am excited to see where it leads… then the epilogue was just tear jerking!
The things that bothered me with this book are the following: •When Eva was kidnapped you don’t get to see how it affects the guys. You only get Eva’s part of the story – I would have loved to see how the guys reacted and what they were doing to try and locate Eva. •I'm not sure how I feel about the fact that the guys are not 100% in board with her dating all t three of them. This is the first RH book I have read were everyone was not in agreement with the relationship.
There is still something about this book that is entertaining and still has me wanting to continue the story and see how it plays out.
I actually really like this book, this series in general. I love paranormal reverse harem romances so this is right up my alley. I like dark romance with Damaged characters that grow and are redeemable... I also really love the super special “snowflake” heroines/MC theme... so overall, I recommend this novel.
With that being said.... I’m not fond at all of all the flashbacks. This novel or series is actually good and has a lot of potential but it was actually one of those books I found myself “Skimming” through. I definitely still enjoyed it, but I was hunting for more and wading through parts. Overall though, I seriously LOVE THE MEN. MASON, DAMON, AMD BECKHAM. They are amazing, very alpha and different. I like the dark gritty bad parts of these novels, but would like to see more focus on what’s happening in the present then what happened in the past....
Also, I enjoy slow burn RH romance.... but let’s speed it up just a little bit in the next one, yea? Lol
Overall though, it’s definitely worth the read and I’ll be waiting for the 3rd
AMAZING!!!! I read the first book which I loved and it seemed like it took forever to read this one.....but it was definitely worth it.....this book has everything you need in it.....hot guys, an amazing MC, hilarious best friend mysterious love story, drama, pain and one hell of a cliffhanger......OMG I cannot wait for the next one......it's been about 2 weeks now since I read this book and it's still stuck with me...that's how you know it's a good book even after your done reading it's still on your mind you just want to go re-read all over again and try to figure it all out......I'm not giving out any spoilers.....but this book is definitely worth the read and a few more times after lol but you have to read the first one first which is fine cause that one was great too.....this will definitely be a series I will have for awhile 😊 oh and if your not following the lovely C.R Jane on her Facebook page then you need to....she loves to play games give teasers and spoilers and prizes and you'll get to find out about her Easter eggs she plants in her books😉 so stop reading reviews and go read this book 😋
Since the first line of the first book I'm beyond hooked . This is such a great series . This specific book is a more in depth look in the previous life of Damon . It's nice to see where he's coming from and what has lead him up this point . We've been learning a little at a time with one of the main characters through flashbacks but we will be get more into his previous life as well as finally being introduced to the last main character from the previous life . I love learning of the back story and comparing there first interactions . You should pick this book up if your reading the series for sure . Damon's character story has more to tell and his story doesn't disappoint . I finally know both what he is and how he came to be . There are certain comments he makes during the stories and it's nice knowing what he's referencing to .I'm glad this book of Damon came out without it I'd remain forever curious of his story because it's not a story any of the characters have shared . This book is a nice addition to the others so far . I have enjoyed the other books more but this is still good and has needed information so go get it and read it .
